Fordeler: The location is great. Right around the corner from the V&A and the Natural History Museum. Across the street from the Tube, and surrounded by great restaurants. This was the perfect home base for a weekend in London. The decor was charming and whimsical, sort of Alice in Wonderland with lots of bright colors and a bird theme which ran through the hotel. Our room was small as most London Hotels are, and finding a place to stow the luggage was a bit of a hat trick, but once we figured it out, everything was great. Although we never had breakfast at the hotel, we did have morning coffee and tea in the tea room every day. Delightful. Would return in an instant!

It was gorgeous inside, extremely well located near the South Kensington tube and nearby pubs and restaurants in Chelsea, the staff was simply wonderful and the rooms were pretty and very comfortable. Also loved the front room where you can grab a bite to eat and a glass of wine, and the breakfast room downstairs. The free water, juices and soft drinks provided in the bar fridge were a nice touch.

Ulemper: The gym was very well appointed in terms of weights, towels and free water but the space was too small in my view, it needed to be at least double the size as only 2-3 people would comfortably fit. Equally, the smaller hotel rooms (where my sisters stayed) have limited space if you are staying for more than 2 nights, but the hotel reception kindly advised us of this beforehand.

Ulemper: Sengene er i hardeste laget og lysoppsettet er lite brukervennlig. Thairestauranten var dessverre en skuffelse med lang venting på drikke og smakløs mat. Lokalet var verken romantisk eller hyggelig. Hotellet fortjener en bedre restaurant. Gå heller til Taormina, italiensk restaurant 3 min unna. Fantastisk service og vin. Maten er som forventet i den prisklassen. Rimelig og god valuta for pengene!

Et av vinduene på rommet viste seg å være blendet. Ikke mulig med frokost kl 07.00 på søndag. Innsjekk via app fungerte ikke. Vi fikk beskjed om at rommet var gitt noen andre. Noe som senere viste seg å ikke stemme. Brukte 20 minutter på innsjekk. Romnøkkelen virket kun i et døgn. Unødvendig å bruke 15 minutt på å fikse dette.

Ulemper: The rooms are not very sound proof we had extremely loud neighbors several nights. More of business hotel. There were not many things to help tourists book restaurants or get around. The staff didn't have guidance on hop on hop off buses or tours. We figured it out on our own but I think in other hotels there is more help for that type of thing.

Fordeler: Perfect location immediately across the street from the South Kensington Tube stop. Has a large elevator which a lot of these townhome-style hotels do not have. There are a couple of stairs from elevator to room, but far better this than lugging luggage up flights of stairs. We dropped our luggage in the morning and returned in the evening and they had already moved bags up into our room for us.

Ulemper: There's only one thing that could have been better and that was the size of the room. We'd booked a superior room but it was quite small with stairs inside the room and some things (tea pot, hair dryer) to be plugged into the closet with too narrow a space for two of us to pass each other from bedroom to bathroom. Otherwise, it was perfect and I'd book again but in a different room type.

But still a lovely breakfast just didn’t feel very welcome

Ulemper: Don't buy the breakfast. At nearly £20 each you should expect a certain standard. This was verging on dangerous. Undercooked bacon and sausage. Scrambled eggs were watery and a strange colour. Everything was cold. Literally the worst breakfast I've had in over 35 years of travelling.

Ulemper: The staff were super friendly but could have duplicated our requests a bit better. For example, we broke a glass (our fault) and asked for it to be cleaned and 6 hours later it wasn't and we had to ask again. We asked for a cab to the airport for 2 large suitcases, 2 medium suitcases and 2 passengers, and two cabs showed up thinking we had 6 pieces of luggage. Otherwise, they were great and friendly.

Ulemper: noise isolation is not the best, it's a good thing it's in a quiet location , but still work in the street ( garbage disposal or something ) in the street outside woke my wife up some days ( we were in the 4th floor) mattress was a bit too hard for our taste ( we didn't complain about any of these to the hotel staff ... it could be that they could have done something not sure)

Ulemper: They have 2 breakfast options: continental or hot English. We had a continental included in the price. There is a special person that instructs each guest on which breakfast they are entitled to have and that the hot breakfast is extra. Not very classy... I have a feeling they spend more money doing that and creating a negative vibe, as opposed to letting everyone have some scrambled eggs (how much can they cost?) and a good impression of the hotel.

Ulemper: NEVER accept room 011 please. What I dislike is that the guests can remove all the silence in the whole coming in and out the hotel - as they may think this underground room cannot be with guest but a laundry or equipment room. -hope it is just because I picked the worst room 011. Nothing good except the bed- which must be available in all the rooms. And, we ordered the breakfast + dinner package for the two days while got a surprise day by day the canteen were reserved by some group from 18:00-21:00, and I was forced to take two late dinners around 21:30, without earlier warning. Too bad a service. It is a problem of management. It is my first score giving under 8, sadly.

Ulemper: Guests were using the toilet/shower room in an odd way. Water and soapy foam all over the toilet seat and splashed most of everywhere in the area surrounding the toilet. Maybe some signs should be put up to show how people should use a toilet and shower correctly. Simple stuff, but I guess some idiots need it.

Fordeler: I really liked the night staff member - Lionel. I came in the middle of the night completely exhausted and his smile, his very warm approach has made me feel welcomed and safe. Honestly, I was a bit scared to stay in a hostel, especially because female dorm was not available at the time of the booking and the room is smaller than it is comfortable. He was polite, fun to talk to and helpful. I had genuine feeling he is a nice person to hang around. I was glad the locker inside of the room was big enough to store a small luggage and that in the bunk bed space you could find a plug, where to charge a phone. The long mirror in the room was also something I liked.

Ulemper: The rooms are uncomfortably small with too many bunk beds. When I wanted to open my tiny luggage, someone would open the door and hit me or someone would come out of bathroom and had to go through me. It was terrible to go toilet inside of the room as you could hear everything from the bathroom cubicle. Also I felt the bed curtains are not being changed after the guests left. There was no space to hang a towel, which is pretty annoying. The room ventilation was awful, there is a fan, which is noisy and terribly small window that opens at the bottom, not at the top - which I do not think is terribly safe or helping to ventilate.

So many towels, the shower and bathroom was very modern! everything looked like it was very well looked after also - cleaners and house keeping obviously doing a very good job! The location is brilliant literally like a two minute walk from the tube to the hotel and so easy to get around! We personally didn’t use the bar or order any room service etc so unable to make comment. Shower was really good and powerful!

Ulemper: The mattress was very ‘spring-y’ it wasn’t the greatest nights sleep, woke up with sore backs and hips. We were also in the basement although we did pay for a windowless room i’m not sure what we expected but it was still a lovely room. the constant noise you could hear also wasn’t the best throughout the night!

Ulemper: Rooms were not clean. Carpet is filthy and needs to be removed, The comforters all smelled and the duvet covers do not get replaced when you leave. I changed rooms while I was there. Upon leaving you to leave the comforter douvet on the bed and the next person reuses it. The only f you ask they will give you a fresh one but the comforter still smell they need to be replaced immediately.

Ulemper: I've found maked fake reservations on mine behalf. They cancel these bookings after they have taken the money from the debit card you gave them. For one day i payed 3 times. Two time on my first debit card. One time them reservation first debit card(i didn't know nothing). One time i payed again whit my first debit card (my booking on booking.com). They have cancelled the two reservation (One true and one fake...) after take me money for two times into my first debit card. For sleep that night, i did must pay again whit my fisical (second) debit card £ 14.71. The price whit my reservation was £ 12.87. Them refund my only 12.87 tell me that i have payed another day...that i've payed whit cash.

Fordeler: The location is easy walking distance from Paddington Train Station it was a very reasonable price for a London hotel the price also included full English breakfast. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful we arrived at the hotel early in the morning check in was at 2 pm we asked if we could leave our suitcases and check in later also when we checked out we again asked if we could leave our cases and pick up early evening this was agreed so we spent all day seeing London without the burden of suitcases and as we were going on the London Eye this was a great help as your bags are searched. The breakfast was help yourself buffet style which included the full English, croissant, fruit juice,coffee etc all hot nice way to start your day sightseeing.

Ulemper: I couldn’t get the a/c to work, the receptionist didn’t know the password to the wifi and when they gave it to me, I couldn’t get that to work either. And the shower drain backed up a little. Seem like easy fixes!

Ulemper: General appearance( needs an update/ refresh. Carpet needs pulling flat in reception area. Staff on arrival not very welcoming. Pool was closed, apparently for refurbishment, this was not communicated upon booking or afterwards. Television very small.

Ulemper: Not a 4 star hotel: 1. Supposed to be near to Kensington Olympia - it wasn't - 40 minutes away via two trains 2. Supposed to have a sauna and swimming pool - they were both closed for repair 3. No restaurant. When I arrived looking for an evening meal I was offered a leaflet promoting a local takeaway. 4. Aircon in room not working - had to make do with a portable fan and leaving the window open on a noisy street

Ulemper: Badebassenget var ute av drift. Aircondition virket ikke på de to rommene vi hadde, og kun satt inn en liten bordvifte, og det var gravearbeid rett utenfor i fire dager og de startet alt mellom 08.30 og 09.00 hver dag. Veldig bråkete.

Ulemper: The property is in need of a little TLC the walls /carpets need painting/ replacing the hotel looks a little tired it is however very clean and bed linen, towels changed daily I cannot offer criticism on the cleanliness of the hotel just that it needs upgrading. I would stay again when in London but I would make further research on other hotels in the area to compare price and facilities.

Ulemper: Vi ble ikke værende på dette hotellet. Utrolig trangt og varmt, ikke plass til to mennesker og en koffert på rommet. Trange og klamme ganger mellom rommene. Ikke 4 stjerner!
Hotel Henry VIII ligger sentralt i London. Hvis du bor her, vil du ha 3 minutter å gå til Kensington Gardens og 10 minutter å gå til Hyde Park. Gjester har tilgang til blant annet et døgnåpent forretningssenter, gratis aviser i resepsjonen og renseri-/vaskeritjenester.
Barkston Rooms Earl's Court ligger i hjertet av London, og bor du her vil du ha mindre enn en 6 minutters kjøretur fra Buckingham Palace og 10 minutter fra St. Paul's Cathedral. Gjester har tilgang til blant annet en døgnåpen resepsjon, bagasjeoppbevaring og mikrobølgeovn på fellesområdet.

Ulemper: The staff in the reception are horrible! The Italian ones specially speaking.. how rude can some people be? Both Italian ladies in the reception would speak in italian language to each other and laugh at my face just because I didn't feel comfortable staying at a mixed room and wanted a female room. Very unprofessional. What a disgrace for the hostel these women are. Have the decency to speak about guests behind their back not infront of their faces!!!

Ulemper: The pictures do not show the real quality of the room. Walls were pealing and dirty, floors were not clean, the bathroom facilities were cramped and gross, beds were horribly quality with springs poking you, and the staff was not service oriented or very friendly. Very disappointed in this location. After talking with some people in London we came to find out that our experience is not normal with hostels, most of the time they are better kept. This was pretty bad. Don’t trust the pictures you see in their ads, they aren’t what you will get.

Ulemper: Rooms and facilities were suffering from either age, or poor design. Sometimes both. Had to spend a lot of time at cafes, because the room did not have an electrical socket for me to charge my phone. Only ventillation in the room was from an open window, exposing you to all kinds of traffic noise throughout the night.

Ulemper: Nothing like what i expected or lead to believe from images of the hostel, it was unclean, smelt bad and the staff were less than helpful. Location is great but the actual rooms and facilities leave a lot to be desired, it did the job for a night but I wouldn't recommend. Breakfast is literally just cornflakes, they have hot drinks machine but there were no teabags, staff were lazy and barely even looked at guests. There was no storage or option to lock away bags in the room and mattress was very hard.
