Ulemper: The service was rubbish. Rude hotel staff at the reception. The feeling is like you owe them money. Called for the bell boy to bring our luggages down twice and no one came in half hour even when the operator said the person will arrive in 5 mins. And after coming from Nh collection in Italy ( Milano, Firenze, fiori imeperali) and having the best time in those hotels, this nh hotel in Amsterdam is miles away from them.

Fordeler: Hotel was very central to everything, the furthest we walked was 20 minutes to get to the A’Dam Lookout which we had to get a ferry to. Hotel is amazing, so pretty and clean and the staff could not be more helpful. Breakfast was lovely, wide selection including English food too! We stayed for 4 nights and managed to squeeze everything in. Would highly recommend this hotel.
Ulemper: Slight mix up in the rooms...we didn’t realise there was a UEFA conference on at the same time as our stay so we were put in an apartment rather than the room we paid for since the hotel had overbooked rooms. However, staff were very good with us and gave us breakfast every day for free and also upgraded us to a lovely room on the Wednesday once the conference was over. Just a mild inconvenience to have to move rooms during the week!!

Ulemper: The staff was nice but some of them pretty incompetent. Pricey garage Water was always oscillating with an amplitude of 3 °C Sauna was out of order. The staff told me the hours after asking. When my card didn't work on the sauna door, they told me, I had to switch my card. Then, when I was at the reception dressed in a towel, they told me the sauna was broken...

Ulemper: I've booked queen room: big bed wil one bed and matress, and that was important for me. Instead of that I was provided with twin room (separate beds with separate matresses), and staff didn't notified me about it during check-in. On the next day after I raised that issue on reception staff fixed that and I got queen room, but still this situation seems to me not cool.

Fordeler: You can rent nice bikes and using the assume bike paths get to all the good spots around town. It's about 3 miles to Rijks and Van Gogh Museums - two more miles and your at the harbor. The Anne Frank house is about 3 miles in a different direction.

Ulemper: My room wasn’t cleaned due a technical issue. It took another 24hrs to be resolved . When I spoke to management about why my room hadn’t been cleaned and why it had taken another 24hours. She questioned why I needed to room to be cleaned. Poor service and no accountability. Also the headboard decor was ripped and shabby, poor cleaning which resulted in my buying cleaning products to wipe down surfaces.

Fordeler: The staff were very friendly and helpful, the beds and towels were always clean as well as the carpet. The beds are extremely comfy, the air conditioning system is great as well as the buttons that tell the hotel to not disturb you or clean your room. Good amount of shampoo ect, good coffee/tea machine, ironing board, safe, hair dryer, all and all very nice to stay in especially for the price.
Ulemper: Only note for improvement would be cleaning the tables properly each day.

Fordeler: Great staff, one not so friendly but hey! This is Amsterdam! The rest more than made up for her. Very clean. Very modern. Very COMFORTABLE. Transportation into city center was not bad at all with bus and tram station nearby and a main train station within a 12 minute walk. Pay for breakfast, pricey but worth it.
Ulemper: Everything was great, I plan to return and recommend to all my friends and family.

Fordeler: Both close to the airport & to town. Right next to the gas station (if you are not wanting "hotel food" and prices) and are willing to have both sandwiches, rather than "meals". Be warned- the warm sandwiches stop in the early afternoon (around 1400).
Ulemper: Please have trained staff inspect bicycles before renting them. Had a bike with several seat issues that almost caused several major accidents on the way to town- before a stranger offered to fix.

Fordeler: I know Mercure hotels from the past. So, I liked the name. They keep the bathroom as supposed, towels as expected and extra soap, shower soap and shampoo conditioner. Fresh orange juice pressed while you're there!
Ulemper: The breakfast wasn't exceptional. The cleanliness of the room (dust under the bed) wasn't exceptional. The key card and parking card didn't work one day. No coffee machine nor Nespresso for a 4-star hotel...

Fordeler: The bed was super comfortable and the restaurant made delicious food for lunch and dinner.
Ulemper: The service was very average, we would be standing at the bar waiting for service for coffee and staff members would walk in.. make their own coffees and walk off without acknowledgement. On the weekends when we would have liked to go to the hotel restaurant it wasn’t open for full service and only burgers. The floors were not vacuumed very regularly and the room was missing a lot of standard hotel items such as an ironing board and iron, simple things like a razor, showering cap etc. We were also extremely frustrated to learn that although our booking said “all fee inclusive” we were expected to pay additional tourist tax and service fees upon arrival.

Ulemper: The location is very misleading and with the GVB transport card valid for the train, tram and bus it takes an hour to get to city centre. They also have a vending machine in the hotel selling drinks but we were not allowed to take that drink into the hotel restaurant?! Overall the room was nice the food average but the location is horrible unless you have a car or can afford to uber/taxi or don’t mind travelling almost an hour to get to dam square on public transport.

Fordeler: The bed was really comfy. The view from the room was nice, and from the hotel you immediately walk into a very nice neighborhood with lots of stuff to do. The service was good and staff were attentive. Facilities, especially the pool were really good.
Ulemper: On one morning there was a big group of children in the swimming pool that kind of ruined the nice relaxing experience. Two elevators were out of service during my stay because they were under maintenance. During the week this wasn’t a problem, but when it got more busy with guests in the weekend it resulted in really long waiting times.

Ulemper: I’ve stayed in various top hotels in Amsterdam and had high expectations of this one, unfortunately it turned out to be my least favorite. Out of 4 elevators only 1 was working, which meant queues and having to travel all the way up when you were going down. The stairs were all concrete and seemed more like emergency exits than a regular stair case. Rooms were comfortable and clean although noisy and had a foul smell coming from the shower. Room service was disappointing with most dishes served cold. The spa was fine, although the ladies sauna was out of order so we had to share with the men although swimsuits were not allowed.

Ulemper: The hotel is a good distance from the city center. I think I remember reading ~ a 30 minute walk but it was more like ~50 minutes. Using public transportation, Ubers or taxis is a must.

Fordeler: Amazing hotel! It was the perfect location! My friend and I litterally walked everywhere from here. The hotel room was a good size for the both of us. The shower was a steam shower and it was amazing. The lighting in the room was also cool- it had a switch where you could turn off all the lights in the room from your bed- such a cool idea!

Ulemper: Dårlig frokost, ikke valuta for pengene. Ble også vekket midt på natten av brannalarm. Ble stående utenfor hotellet en time uten at noe skjedde og fikk ingen informasjon. Totalt kaos, virket ikke som hotellet hadde kontroll på situasjonen. Rett og slett for dårlig! Bedt om 2 separate senger, dette fikk vi ikke.

Fordeler: Flott beliggenhet for oss som var på shoppingtur. Lett adkomst med trikk 24 som stopper rett utenfor inngangen. Aircondition på vårt opprinnelige rom virket ikke, men vi fikk nytt, oppgradert rom med en gang vi sa ifra. Store senger, flotte bad, og hele hotellet oppleves som nyoppusset. Hyggelig og hjelpsom betjening. Anbefales!

Ulemper: Synes det er litt dårlig at man skal måtte betale ekstra for å få svømme litt i bassenget. Har reist mye og vært på mange hotell med både gym,hamam,sauna og pool, men dette er første gang jeg har opplevd at et hotell har krevd ekstra for dette. Spa behandling er en ting, men at gjestene må betale ekstra for å få bruke fasiliteter på hotellet synes jeg er dårlig. Rengjøring av rommet kunne vært noe bedre. Hadde 4 netter der og det ble ikke skiftet på sengen, kun redd opp. De var heller ikke så gode til å fylle på med kaffe, te, sukker, kopper etc på rommet når de gjorde rent. Den andre dagen vi var der fikk vi ingenting, den tredje dagen fylte de på litt, men gav oss ingen nye kopper selv om de brukte lå i søpla. Ringte ned og de kom da med 1 kopp til to personer. Ble ikke så imponert over serviceinnstillingen i kiosk/kafe i lobbyen. Der kunne de godt smilt litt mer og vært «litt» mer hjelpsomme

Fordeler: Flott hotell med super beliggenhet. Nå pusset de opp restauranten, så det var ingen fasiliteter å bedømme. For oss var rommet og beliggenheten det eneste viktige. Når vi ankom var bydelen uten strøm. Det varte og rakk men hotellet var veldig informative mv. Fikk oppgradert rom som en stor overraskelse.
Ulemper: en liten bar? Uansett så var det ikke mange meter til næreste cafe/bar.

Fordeler: Veldig sentralt hotell, i gåavstand til det meste. Rolig og avslappet atmosfære. Veldig service-innstilt, hyggelig personale. Fikk oppgradert rom med kanalutsikt uten ekstra kostnad. Kjempekoselig uterestaurant ved kanalen vegg-i-vegg med hotellet, Freddys`s bar 50m ned i gaten med pianobar et must. Masse koselige restauranter rett i nærheten.
Ulemper: Kun en liten bar og restaurant som kun serverte lunsj, ellers ingen fasiliteter (5*, men har sett bedre og mer fasiliteter på 3*). Baren og restauranten var dessuten nesten tomme de 5 nettene vi var der. Frokost ikke inkludert, til tross for 14.900kr. Frokost koster 30€ pr.pers, spiste den heller ute til under halv pris med kanalutsikt.

Fordeler: Our stay at Stout & Co was incredible! Gorgeous design, spacious room, great bed. Lovely Aesop shower products, free beers, soft drinks, coffee and tea. The breakfast was delicious and contained more food than we could eat, and on top of that they catered to our food allergies with great care. The service was super friendly and personal, and we felt so welcome. A short walk away from public transport to the city centre, and the neighbourhood itself was quiet.
Ulemper: We actually can not point out any negatives, it really was an impeccable stay and we will definitely be back. It is well worth the extra expense if you want that little extra feeling of casual luxury on your holiday.

Fordeler: This is a lovely place to stay in the most atmospheric and trendy part of Amsterdam. Frank is a lovely host who makes you feel relaxed and very welcome. Our room was enormous, very well appointed and even had its own little courtyard garden to sit out in. Breakfast is taken in the communal kitchen (there is only one other room rented out in the property) and a nice range of continental breakfast items - cereals, fruit, yoghurts, eggs, cheeses, meats, bread, juice, etc - was provided. The Jordaan is full of gorgeous houses, great cafes, bars and restaurants and a wide range of eclectic shops. It's about a 15-minute walk from the Centraal station and very close indeed to Prinsengracht, where the Anne Frank House is located. We highly recommend eating at 'Hummus D & A' restaurant on Westerstraat, about a 3-minute walk from the bed and breakfast. Great Israeli (though not Kosher) food at reasonable (for Amsterdam, which has become very expensive since our last visit) prices.

Fordeler: Very central just off damrak and close to everything you will want or need. Coffeshop prix d'ami round the corner. Restaurants everywhere and both tram lines minutes away. Big 24hour indoor smoking room and an outside smoking area as well was massive highlight. Good Continental breakfast, tea , lots of toast , cereal and boiled eggs etc. Staff really helpful and friendly. enjoyed walking up and down the steep stairs, fun and good on legs.
Ulemper: Private rooms were a bit on the smaller side but nothing too much to worry about. Had fridge in private room but was told when checking in that you cannot have food or drink up there? maybe thats just for the dorm rooms though, as that would make sense . No major probs at all though. all good

Fordeler: Good bed, locker and rooms. Our had 2 bathrooms so it was Ok for the amount of beds. The kitchen was also good and with all the utilities you need.
Ulemper: There was a guy who was too stoned and peed on another guy's bed, and the receptionist didn't tell anything to him. He should've taken him out of the bed. It was disgusting!

Ulemper: It was cheap and served the purpose of having a place to stay, I guess. However, the smoking room inside was seeping smoke outside of it so even if you were sitting in the bar, the smell was always around you. My clothes and luggage ended up smelling terrible. The cupboards in the rooms needed a lock which I didn't think I would have to buy since most of the Hostels I've been to have the 1 Euro gym locker system, so I had to buy a lock. We were placed on a top bunk bed but there were no bars or rails when getting in and out of the bed which made it very awkward and also a bit scary when sleeping since there were 2 of us in bed and we were afraid the other would rollover. The bar was open, there was food there and it is very central and it seems like the people there are always awake. It would have been nice to have a quiet room without smoke indoors to be able to chill and relax.

Ulemper: Lack of care in the spa area. Towels and used watee cups not removed. Staff sparse. Unsure which beds were free. Only 4 of us in spa so most beds blocked by used towels etc.

Fordeler: Firstly, the girls in reception was very nice and sweet for the check in. We lived for two days, before we check out, my friends was taking the shower, meanwhile the water STOPS, I come to ask a manager maybe, he’s attitude was sooooo terrible, in the whole conversation, nothing to apologize for “no water”, and blame me, why I don’t know they will turn off the water between 11:00 to 15:00, but why should I know? No one tell us and no one give us a note in the rooms. And the windows curtain was also bad, we can’t control it and we can’t open it, we spend so money money and upgrade our rooms near the river, we want to see it, but we can’t, because curtains can’t r opened. The waiter tell us they will repair, no one repairs it! I really don’t know how did this hotel get 5 stars with this services and attitude.
Ulemper: When we leave the hotel, no one ask for the parking fees, I come back to pay for the 130 Euro for parking, why I need to help you to get the money from myself???? And a little bit too expensive for the parking car.

Ulemper: Aircondition kunne absolutt vært bedre. Med varme dager, klarte vi ikke å få kjølige rom, samt at den skrudde seg selv av etter ei stund. Kunne også gjerne kommet og rengjort rommet litt tidliger. Vi kom tilbake på rommet ca kl 16.30 og da hadde ingen vært der ennå.

Ulemper: The hotel is under my expectations. The bathroom don’t have a box, they have a bath and those plastic curtains. You need to pay 9 euros per day to use the internet, I never saw it in my life, pay to use internet in a hotel. The calefator don’t work well. I don’t recommend this hotel. Amsterdã has better options of hotel.

Fordeler: Fabulous hotel, decor, staff, bedrooms and food excellent. It was my birthday present from my sons and the hotel organised a lovely bottle of Champagne and Chocolates. The location of the hotel was so central to the central train station

Ulemper: We ordered some eggs Benedict with the breakfast buffet, they were not good. Good eggs on toast, but instead of ham there was a bitter cooked spinach mix and the sauce had no flavor.

Ulemper: Even though I upgraded to "Larger Double Room", the room felt small. When booking, the reservation stated free mini bar, wifi and "welcome gift" -- none of those things were true. Electricity issues. Too much smoking at entrance around hotel.
