Lots of different teas, coffees, cereals, yoghurts, cheeses, bread to toast, ham, muffins, waffles, crumpets & Jams. Would highly recommend We called a taxi to pick us up to collect our car, they didn’t tell us they had arrived waited 10 mins & left... The lovely owner took me herself to collect my car.. lovely touch.. Thank you ..

Need some instruction on how to use the shower controls, no details what so ever!!!!

Ulemper: Having to change room because of broken leg on the bed,, having to ask for a bulb for the lamp. I would have expected the rooms to be checked before guests arriving! Had no complaint about anything else, and the problems where resolved. But we had been travelling all day and just wanted to settle in,without any fuss.

Fordeler: The location was beautiful.bed was comfy,room was warm and clean.lots of tea coffee etc.

Ulemper: The decor was in need of a freshen up and the bathroom was very small, with mouldy smell, then noticed mould on the wall by the shower. Shower on off tap was really hard to turn with wet hands. No clear direction as to when breakfast was coming? My husband and I went into Bishops Stortford for breakfast.

Fordeler: The bed was very hard I could hear Cockrells and chickens at 5:30 this morning and I’ve got now long time to waste on this review

Fordeler: Great host, nice cats and very convenient for the airport. Surpisingly quiet given its proximity to Stansted.

Ulemper: Bathroom smelled a bit damp and had some mould by the shower. Room adequate and bed comfy but decor needed a little TLC

Fordeler: The Willows is situated down a country lane surrounded by lovely countryside with just a few other houses nearby. Accommodation is in small cabins in the grounds, each with a pleasant outdoor table and chairs. As each cabin has its own key, there is no problem with arrival times. (We were not flying, just visiting friends nearby, so cannot comment on the ease of getting to and from the airport.) The beds were comfortable but some better pillows and a flat sheet would have made for a more comfortable night as the duvets made us too hot.

Ulemper: Pillows supplied on the beds were very thin and we only found a bundle of extra pillows and bedding when we were packing to leave - our fault, of course, but it would have been good if someone had pointed out that the untidy bundles under a shelf were actually useful! The décor is, at best, serviceable so don't expect anything smart. The shower was only lukewarm no matter how often we fiddled with the controls. The delivery of breakfast and loud voices from the neighbouring cabin woke us in the morning.

Fordeler: Very near to Stansted Airport. No aircraft noise and quiet location. Continental breakfast more than adequate.

Ulemper: Unfortunately there was a water main burst in close proximatey to The Willows which had the obvious outcome - no water!! (Not the fault of the owners!)

Fordeler: People are very friendly and nice, the room is warmly decorated and very neat and tidy. The bathroom is nice too, it has a good shower.

Ulemper: they only make transfers from the guest house to the stansted airport, but not the other way round, so it costs about 7 pounds to get from stansted airport to there.

Ulemper: We arrived late in the evening and it was difficult to see the hotel sign from the road in the dark (we drove past it twice).Could have done with the sign illuminated. Neighbours friendly and directed us.

Fordeler: Excellent. The staffs are very friendly and always ready to pick you up from and to the airport which is very close to the Guest House. They also speak very clear and not to fast, easy to understand if you are not English. Very clean, very beautiful and very comfortable.

Ulemper: Litt tydligere tegn/skilt på innkjøring til hotellet (i mørket) , (drosjåføren var ukjent og hadde litt vanskeligheter med å finne fram),og tegn/skilt til resepsjonen. (Vi ble forstyrret to ganger om kvelden av folk som banket på vinduet og spurte hvor resepsjonen var. Vi bodde på rom nr. 4).

Fordeler: Nærheten til Stansted. Muligheten til å lage noe å drikke og at det inkludert skyss til flyplassen.

Fordeler: rent, pent, god service, ble hentet og kjørt til flyplassen

Fordeler: Hotellet ligger perfekt for en overnatting i forhold til flyreise via Stansted Airport. Meget hyggelig personale, rene og fine rom. Store og fine fellesarealer ved resepsjonen som muligjør sosialt samvær.

Ulemper: Det burde ikke være en ekstrakostnad ved tidlig innsjekk. Dersom rommet er ledig, vil jo ikke dette føre til ekstrakostnader for hotellet?

Ulemper: Breakfast scrambled eggs and bacon were tired and tough by 6am.

Fordeler: Walking distance from terminal, 24/7 reception, good breakfast, the view

Fordeler: Breakfast was very good, but disappointed that there was no fresh fruit on offer (it seemed to be out of a tin)

Ulemper: Both mine and my boss's rooms were not cleaned, as we found out at 12.30am when we arrived back from a long day in Denmark! (A manager sorted it out and gave us a discount off the room, as he said that it was not acceptable) The fact that there was no complimentary water in the rooms, which there are at other Hilton hotels that we stay in.

Fordeler: Generally a good hotel, however the restaurant service at dinner time very slow and disorganised

Fordeler: Very good breakfast. Checkout until noon. Quiet room. Staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed them. especially considering the 1 am check-in time. Large room and bathroom.

Ulemper: The signs directing us to the hotel were not clear, except toward the end. At the beginning they led us only to the buses, when the "Hampton" part on the signs disappeared. We had to ask first the bus people (who told us how to get back into the airport) and then the airport people (who told us how to get to the outside corridor leading to the hotel) before we again found signs directing us to the hotel. And this was after we had already seen from the airplane that the hotel was right next to the airport! I think breakfast could have been extended to 11 o'clock, or at least part of it, such as the coffee machine.

Fordeler: Location when your flight is very late around midnight, the proximity to the airport (walking distance) helped me settle in quickly instead having to go all the way to the city.

Ulemper: For the price, the room especially the bed could be better. I think the breakfast space was very crowded and I think the food could have more variety and possibly labeled (allergens).

Fordeler: Excellent breakfast which we could eat on the run to the air terminal to catch our early flight

Ulemper: Charges at the bar were exstorchanate. £4.95 for small 330ml Budweiser

Fordeler: Simple, clean, does the basics well and keeps the price down.

Ulemper: A little bit out of the way.

Fordeler: Excellent value for money, lovely lady looking after the house couldn't do enough for people. I would highly recommend this for a stopover when using Stanstead. Breakfast was as you would expect in any European establishment, fresh cakes baked and left out for the guests.

Ulemper: Nothing.

Fordeler: Lovely hosts. the room was clean and pleasant and the hosts were extremely kind.

Ulemper: I chose the guesthouse for its affordability close to the airport. Unfortunately due to traffic diversions, which the taxi driver tells me are frequent it actually takes 25 minutes each way to the airport at a cost of £20 each way. It would therefore have been better for me to have paid £90 for a hotel right near the airport, rather than an ordinary guesthouse far away. I also have a nylon allergy so the bedspread gave me a rash.

Fordeler: The pub up the road.

Ulemper: Room was very basic, bedding was very old style, no bed side tables to allow you to put water cup/tea cup onto over night. Was noisy as people come and go during the night.

Fordeler: The hostess was super hospitable and gave us loads of information on attractions around London and what's the easiest way to get there. Comfortable beds, tasty and simple food, nice location and a cosy garden. Free wifi that worked perfectly too.

Ulemper: Had problems with the shower, it wouldn't heat up the water no matter what setting it was on and the pressure was way too low.

Fordeler: Very helpful, happy staff lady. En-suite was a surprise and the kitchen facilities very good.

Ulemper: No bedside table to put glasses and the table light in the room did not work. Late arrivals at 1.15 am were extremely noisy and above my room so a lot of banging and I could hear their footsteps and talking for an hour. It was noisy at that time of the morning, I asked them politely to please be quiet, we had early flights. But they ignored this. Perhaps they could have been asked by the staff to think of others.

Ulemper: Det var veldig kalt på rommet på natten, da det trakk veldig mye fra vinduene selv om de ikke var åpne. Vi hadde heldigvis en varmeovn på rommet. Litt for tynne tepper.

Fordeler: Landlady was very kind and nice. She helped me get to the airport. The room was cosy and clean with a comfortable bed. I will definitely recommend this place.

Ulemper: The doors were creaky and woke me up quite a lot in the night (especially as it was a shared bathroom so people were getting up a lot in the night). The bed wasn't massively comfortable.

Fordeler: The location is really good, in a quiet street 5 min walk from the train station. The room was really nice and we felt like at home. And the breakfast was awesome! We will stay there again in the future

Fordeler: I had the top floor ensuite. It was small but enough just for myself. In the room there was everything you need - coffee machine, water, TV, great toiletries, clothes rack. Shower and hot water were just perfect! Breakfast was very good and the owner very attentive. She even helped me to book a taxi which was great!

Ulemper: There’s nothing to complain about just a few details to look at.. The owner never introduced herself so I never knew her name! Towels and pillows were a little too old. The room was quite clean but the armchairs needed a good vacuum. As said nothing too serious.

Fordeler: Beautiful home, great location after an evening flight. Very friendly and accomodating family. Very comfortable bed.

Ulemper: Shower water temp couldn't find warm- had to keep alternating hot and cold

Fordeler: Host was super-friendly and very accommodating: after checking in, we had to go out for quite a while, and we were unable to be back until quite late. The host waited up for us. Next morning when we left we accidentally left a coat behind, and only noticed a couple of hour s later. The host made light work of sorting it out even though she was not there. Very helpful!

Ulemper: Room is quite small and the bathroom, though big enough, is also quite small. The on-site parking is quite tight, but there is ample parking on the verge across the way.

Fordeler: Very welcoming and friendly, ideally situated for my early flight from Stansted.

Fordeler: The location was ideal for my business trip as I had to travel to Woodbridge in Suffolk the day after. The host was lovely. She made you feel very welcome and was on hand to assist with ensuring your stay was stressfree. Breakfast was excellent and the room very clean and welcoming.

Fordeler: The breakfast included everything, from full English to cereal to rolls and cereal bars. The owner was friendly and helpful, and the house in charming old English style.

Ulemper: The shower could do with a new shower head, but otherwise all well.

Fordeler: The land lady is lovely. Perfect location for the airport.

Fordeler: This facility is close to the airport and the host offers to take you there by her car, if you need to, which is practical and we were happy to accept. She is also interesting to talk to and her family history is fascinating. The room was decent.

Ulemper: We were surprised by how connected we were with the family, you have to go through the dining room every time you go somewhere. We rather stayed in the room. Also you can hear the family talking and any movement from the other rooms which are very close. It looked like if there was another guess, we would have to share the bathroom with them. Luckily, we were the only guests there for our stay. It is a decent accommodation for a one night but England generally has very different standards for hotels and B&Bs. What is considered a 3 star in England, is actually a 1 star in Canada and a 2 star in Czech or Spain, for example.

Fordeler: Cozy and lovely cottage, with a bus stop located just outside the cottage. We had a very nice breakfast prepared personally by the host herself which includes a wonderful spread of bread, cereals, toast and cooked eggs and bacon. Thank you Carol and I hope your cough is better.

Ulemper: As I arrived pretty late in the night, the only way accessible to the property is by cab.

Ulemper: Failure to provide booked early call I nearly. Missed flight

Fordeler: The breakfast was very good and the restaurant staff and hotel staff were very nice. Novotel offered a good selection of foods for breakfast and evening dining. The location was excellent as we had a flight in and out of Stansted Airport to Italy, but I didn't understand the 6 pounds shuttle bus charge to and from the airport terminal. That should have been free as a complimentry shuttle.

Ulemper: The lights and the heating cooling system were not working correctly. The bathromm door handle fell off in my hand. The showers were complicated and the water temperature was either hot or cold and the water shot all over the bathroom floor, It was not communicated to us as you had to let the staff know if you wanted the room cleaned, we did not have our room cleaned with a 2 night stay, poor ventilation as we had to open the window as the room was still hot. AC was not functioning properly.

Fordeler: Flott hotell, flott stort rom. Nytt og moderne. Rent og pent overalt. Grei frokost, god room service. Veldig kjekt med shuttlebus til/fra Stansted hvert kvarter. Personalet i resepsjonen var veldig hjelpsomme og hyggelige.

Fordeler: Check in was easy. The size of the room was ample

Ulemper: I had booked a superior room with runway view, considering the rooms title "superior" it was a small room with a connecting locked door to another room. The walls were dirty in places, the carpet had bald patches, there was NO bottled water, biscuits, nor slippers as a perk for booking the better room. There are now no benches on the grass at the front of the building to sit and watch the world go by. All in all it used to be one of my favourite hotels to visit, location wise it is perfect, sadly over the last couple of visits the place is now beginning to look very tired, with more care and attention being given to things like dusting, removing marks from walls, replacing rusty shower fittings and repairing or covering old bald tired looking carpet.

Ulemper: There was no room at the restaurant for dinner. There was no room service info in my room and even after asking for it I had to go down to the front desk to ask again and they didn’t have one so I had to order at the front desk. They seems understaffed and under resources. My minibar was completely empty.

Fordeler: The hotel had great food. Was really easy to get to from the train. It literally only took 3-4 mins to get from my room to airport security. Made the journey so much easier.

Ulemper: One of the restaurants wasn't open which meant there was a bit of a wait in the other one. That's about all I can come up with though. It was good.

Ulemper: Aircon broken so freezing cold Room service took 2 hours to arrive and when it did it was stone cold and no sauces. Check in took over 25 minutes due to not enough desks. Rubbish start to our long awaited honeymoon!!!

Fordeler: Very close to Stansted and frequent shuttle service. For a one night stay to catch an early flight it was perfect.

Ulemper: The shuttle bus only takes cash, which is an issue once you have just landed and have no pounds on you. It costs 3 pounds our 5 Euros, which is the most abusive exchange rate I've seen in a long time. Not OK.

Fordeler: The staff were helpful and friendly. The room on the whole wasn't to bad. With a cold draft from the window.

Ulemper: The evening menu was poor. 4 different types of Burgers. Breakfast wasn't too bad. I drink Espresso and could only have a large cup to drink it from

Ulemper: The family room was too small for a family of 5. also the aircondition didn‘t work and the mattresses were too soft

Fordeler: A very good budget hotel. Good facilities, good food if a limited menu. The staff were all friendly and attentive. Will definitely recommend and use again prior to early flight out of Stansted.

Ulemper: Poorly maintained lifts. Room I was assigned initially hadn't been cleaned (bed unmade, used towels in the bathroom) so had to go back to reception to request another one.

Fordeler: It had a roof, a bed, and a bathroom

Ulemper: We aren’t complainers, but: We didn’t like the price-gouging whereby the online default price was massively cheaper than the price for the night we were booking. After check-in we were forced to change rooms because the heating/cooling didn’t work and the room was way too hot. Also, when we checked into the first room the sofa-bed was still in bed-mode. This, incidentally, was at 9pm; it wasn’t as though we were early arrivals. Upon getting another room, nothing was provided in the bathroom: no shower-cap, no shampoo, and the tissue holder was empty. The room had no fridge, but by this stage we weren’t expecting such luxuries. We paid a four-star price and received a one-star result. Sorry, a total rip-off.

Ulemper: First room assigned had a faulty AC unit so the room was set at 25.5 degrees

Fordeler: Very warm looking place. Situated in a very calm nature like area and just felt so relaxing.

Ulemper: Shower head shoots thin jets of water that feel like they’re piercing your skin doesn’t matter the pressure. Really difficult to get warm water.

Fordeler: Landlady very polite and helpful, easy to get a taxi to the airport from here. Very clean room

Fordeler: location excellent for the airport. Taxi £11 or could walk if not too much luggage. very friendly and easy check in. large bathroom

Ulemper: The small restaurant/ food area was serviced by the reception staff so service was on the slow side, with no dedicated restaurant staff. Cleanliness could have been better

Fordeler: Location was good for an early flight the next day. We didn't have breakfast as we were leaving at 4.00am. No other comments make for our short time there.

Fordeler: the hotel is right next to a food court and very close to a bus stop, making it easy to travel using public transport.

Fordeler: The location was in the right place for us as we needed. And everything we needed was so accommodating overall staff are friendly too.

Ulemper: Only thing I wasn’t sure on was the cooked breakfast we had the following morning.

Fordeler: it is smack into a motorway service station , it was not too clear from the website listing. need must, i had an acceptable dinner at the hotel restaurant.

Ulemper: The bed wasn’t very comfortable.

Fordeler: The buildings have character

Ulemper: It is on the flight path for Stansted. We stayed in Room 51 in a house, converted into rooms which is separate to the main building. All the rooms are on top of each other, so noisy especially in the room directly above us.

Fordeler: Not a lot for the price we paid

Ulemper: The room was next to the kitchen extractor hence we couldn't open the window because of the noise even through the night Also there was a light blown in the bedroom and 1 in the bathroom room 24 I booked the lakeside restaurant for a meal and when we arrived we got shown into a basic room that had been converted into restaurant We waited 45mins for our starters then when our main steak meals were served they were very very basic for the price of £23 each better quality at Beefeater

Fordeler: Vi overnattet her bare for en mellomlanding mellom Portugal-ferien vår og Norge. Det var mørkt da vi kom og mørkt da vi dro - så tidlig at vi rakk ingen frokost, men vi spiste en god middag på restauranten i hotellet. Rommet var bra og sengen god. Ikke noe støy å høre fra flytrafikken som gikk rett over.

Fordeler: The breakfast was lovely and so was the bridal suite

Ulemper: The noise of the planes overhead. The location was so lovely but the plane noise made it difficult to sleep.

Fordeler: Very nice room, waiter in the dining room trying his best, food of good quality

Ulemper: Waiting too long at reception, no apology forthcoming, we were told we couldn’t eat until 8pm, went to the bar for a drink and the bar is closed, we sat on coaches in a corridor room, then told we could eat when we liked, ordered steak, none available - wow! For a four star hotel! Ordered wine, waiter passed me the corkscrew as he didn’t know how to open a wine bottle, then chef came from kitchen and opened it, fire alarm went off, staff left the dining room, guests remained. It was a bit of a “Flawty Towers” experience-wouldn’t go again. Sorry!

Fordeler: Food was excellent

Ulemper: No phone to reception

Fordeler: Well situated near the M11. Clean, modern and spacious rooms. The hotel is close to the airport runway but the noise from planes were not an issue. Nice quiet and secluded place close to the airport.

Ulemper: Parking can be confusing especially at night. The main building has a formality to it that reminds me of a conference centre. It could have more personal touches.

Fordeler: Dette er som en oase, med omliggende natur, det lille tjernet med fisk (karpe?), gangstien og utseendet på bygningene. Her er det mye som lager god stemning, og som vi ble veldig begeistret for. God mat og hyggelig vertskap. Anbefales, om du vil ha noe mer enn et rom.

Fordeler: The staff were friendly and polite, the food in the restaurant was lovely.

Ulemper: The hotel was directly under the flight path and the window was single glazed and didn’t latch properly we had to stick tea bags in it to wedge it closed but still did little to shut out the CONSTANT and REGULAR planes, the curtain was held onto the rail by a paper clip, the blind in the bathroom was a thin rattan which is transparent once you turn the light on and there were widows opposite. No socket suitable to plug in the hairdryer that let you see in the mirror. There was a wedding on so we couldn’t use one bar, we bought a drink at the other bar and halfway through we were surrounded by wedding party, it felt very awkward. The gentleman on reception was very polite but new and there wasn’t a manager available due to the wedding.

Fordeler: The food, the chef served up some of the most delicious food I have eaten in a very long time, salmon with caper butter. The breakfast was fab too. The grounds are very pretty and well kept.

Ulemper: The trouble was sleeping and it isn't the hotels fault, it is the planes taking off, they are literally conversation stoppers. I got to sleep at 3 am and woke at 6am. Rooms are clean and beds comfy although mine was on wheels and what with being restless it moved to a different bit of the room which to me was funny. I reckon the hotel should put new retro double glazing in keeping with the age of the hotel, it may help.

Fordeler: Setting

Ulemper: Power went off in the night so no lights or power in the morning - no apology, no offer of discount, had to shower, go to the toilet using torch on phone.

Fordeler: Room was very clean, comfortable and good tea and coffee facilities. Had a spacious superior room and nice table and chairs and desk area. We were in one of the outdoor rooms in the converted barn building. A very nice stay overall.

Ulemper: Stansted Airport is very close by so you do hear planes taking off every so often, however I knew this ahead of booking, so it didn't bother me. Earplugs are provided which I thought was nice.

Fordeler: Jeg likte rommene og selve bygget svært godt! God service.

Ulemper: Frokosten. Dårlig utvalg.

Fordeler: Close and easy to get to the airport. Decent modern bedroom which was comfortable.

Ulemper: Bar/restaurant was all one which is not condusive to good atmosphere. Drinks very expensive. Room was double booked which was very annoying.

Fordeler: distance to Stanstead airport

Fordeler: Had a nice feel to it, the rooms were comfortable and modern

Ulemper: Wooden floors were quite noisy and it is close to Stansted airport. I didn't hear the planes at night but if you are a light sleeper....

Fordeler: Quiet hotel and excellent customer service - very comfortable rooms.

Ulemper: There was no internet access/wifii and network coverage was poor for mobile phones.

Fordeler: good sized bedrooms clean and comfortable

Ulemper: a problem with reception staff, asked to book a taxi to the airport on our arrival and then at 7.15am on the morning, I had to ask when the taxi did not arrive and the rsponse was 'I forgot' this resulted is us being 45 minutes late to meet the group

Fordeler: the rooms were brand new which was lovely and teh resturant was beautiful

Ulemper: The hotel is currently being reburbished therefore there are work men around and heavy machinery. Not as quiet as you may like either due to this but due to the price we paid we were happy enough as the rooms were lovely and we were just sating for a wedding that evening away from the hotel . If I had paid full price as per their tarrif I think I would have been a little upset though!

Fordeler: The location was beautiful, the room was lovely, the bathroom was luxurious, the staff were friendly and noted our comments on departure. Would definitely stay there again.

Ulemper: Unfortunately under Stanstead flight path but we knew that. Air con not yet working in newly developed room so room was hot and opening door meant airplane noise was pretty loud, but these things would not prevent us staying there again. Few little improvements needed - no where to hang wet towels but they know this and will change. The 'great' far outweighed the 'development needs'.

Fordeler: We had a fantastic stay, the food was service was 1st class, the room was 1st class, the staff were 1st class, it was more like staying on a cruise liner than a hotel,

Ulemper: No sound proofing, could not sleep because of the guests upstairs. You can hear them walking...

Ulemper: Only as thing they didn't leave any loo roll when they cleaned the room

Fordeler: It’s proximity to Stansted Airport is excellent and thank goodness, it’s next to Motorway Major Services.

Ulemper: Dirty and Worn Carpets. All facilities at nearby Services, very small and no bar

Ulemper: There was nothing we did not like, good points include Reception manned 24 hours, all the staff were friendly and helpful. Room clean and well stocked with tea coffee making, hair dryer and shower gel. Also a really easy to use shower, which was easy to get in to. Room very quiet and breakfast facilities were all within 100 yards. It was also really good value for money

Fordeler: There is a public bus that stops very close and takes you to Stansted Airport.

Fordeler: The staff didnt know what they were doing. They allocated us a room then came back to give us a different room and gave our room to another couple. We had already been in that room for a while and I know they didnt clean it. We had a big group and I ended up looking at his screen to work out what rooms we had allocated. I was also told we had shuttle services but had to wkae up at 4PM to get our shuttle even though our flight was at 8 so we were waiting aorund for ages at the airport and the purpose of getting one close to the airport is for extra sleep.
