I think this place is perfect for someone who is a tourist and doesn't plan to stay inside your hotel room all day. I went with my girlfriend and we both found the price and location just perfect!
Beds were comfortable Staff prompt and friendly It was dirty---floors dirty, wrappers on the floor, cereal on the floor, carpet torn in areas, pack n play had crusted food on it.
It was a fantastic hotel! While the room wasn't large, it was up to date and clean. Services were fantastic and the staff was friendly, helpful, and informative. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will absolutely stay here again.
Location The hallways had hole in walls, tears and tons of stains in carpeting. Needs major upkeep. Only thing good is the location. Paid 15$ for fasted speed internet which was supposed to be 8mbps it closed in less Then 3mbps
The cafe attached was nice and the lobby was comfortable. I found the staff dismissive and disorganized. While being checked in they willingly allowed other louder parties to cut in front of me which I thought was rude and not good customer service. Also some staff didn't believe I was staying there and almost didn't allow me to access the elevator to get to my room. It didn't feel very welcoming at all. They also charge for WiFi and the rooms they show online do not match their rooms in person. Each room has to be updated to the same standard. The room felt like it was kinda falling apart, not well maintained at all. Very disappointed.
The location is the one you want. It's close to whatever you wanna visit at Chicago. Staff is really courteous, the room size is OK, the roof terrace is really nice. Again, this is mostly about the location which is the best in town. Nothing I actually disliked, but the hotel is in serious need of money to go through a much needed renovation. Once they do this, the price won't be the same tho.

Jeg hadde bekreftelse på at jeg hadde bestilt hotell i juli, men på hotellet stod det at jeg hadde bestilt i oktober. Dette bør sjekkes ut.

Great location for walking to a concert at soldier field Waited line for 30 minutes to check in and that was for the Hilton Honors pre-checks. Regular check in line was likely 45 minutes+. Keys to our room didn't work. Had to wait in line another 30 minutes for new keys. When we returned at midnight from TS concert and tried new keys they did not work either. Waited 45 minutes for security to open door with 3 small exhausted children. After calling 4 times for security and no luck I finally spoke to a manger and he came and let us in. Was supposed to put new keys under door overnight that was not done. Never received a working key the entire stay. Needless to stay they comped my room. I still had to pay the ridiculous $69 for parking. We will not being staying here again.
I loved the location of the hotel. It was close to all that o came to town for. Plus the view from my room was spectacular! It was very easy to get a taxi, as the doorman did it for me. The staff was so helpful and friendly. Definitely will be returning on my next trip to Chicago! The only real complaint I can make about the hotel is the Herb n Kitchen on the main lobby floor. They claim to serve Starbucks which they do, but it tastes nothing like the real thing. The ingredients in my frap started to separate-- pretty sure te syrup was expired. But other than that, the rest of the hotel was amazing. I look forward to future stays there.
A Very Walkable City with wonderful waterfront area and Great Food at Lou Malnati's and Gene & Georgetti. Museums, Aquarium, Planetarium, Soldier Field, Jazz Clubs and Great Restaurants...Everything is centrally located in and around Grant Park which is right across the street from the HILTON CHICAGO. The bed pillows were AWFUL! mushy and no support. A minor point, that would NOT prevent me from staying there again. My biggest CON was the cost of parking $56/day (self park) or $70/day (valet), for the cost of the room it should be included. Also in-room WiFi is an additional charge, should also be included.
My hotel was right acros from the park..a short walk from the museum and aquarium, as well as a ferry to the pier! The room was clean and large, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The lobby was beautiful! Hotel also has a large pool..was over all very impressed, would stay again on a return visit! That I had to leave!
The amenities were great. I was given a larger room than expected with a nice (but not lake) view. The location was great and all staff were friendly and helpful. My room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. My room was also very clean and the tv had a lot of channels. Also, the building and common areas are absolutely gorgeous. I loved the gym facility and going for a swim after a stressful day. My only complaint is that there was a lot of loosely supervised young kids at the pool at 9pm. Would be nice if they had some hours for adults only.

Loved the Luxurious Amenities this hotel offers. Our room was comfortable, cold, and dark. All we needed was a fan to soothe me to sleep and upon calling the front desk, they delivered a fan to our room. Only negative I have is that our room had poor lighting. I'm a makeup artist so lighting is key for anyone to put on makeup, let alone a professional makeup artist like myself. Upgrade the lighting please!!
The location is good: close to subway, next to park, easy to get food to eat. I thought this is a 4-star hotel. When I saw the entrance of this hotel, it looks like 4-star. But when I got into the room, I thought I was in a 2-star Inn. The coffee maker is dirty, full of dust. The computer is not working and not able to off screen. The decoration of the room doesn't look like 4-star. Also, when the guest at next room used the bathroom, the loud "boom" sound would shock you. The WiFi is only free at lobby. The speed is really slow. When I refused to pay $30 for upgrade room with WiFi, the staff looked not happy. My teen girl was very disappointed for her trip to Chicago. She always wants to stay in hotel but this time she didn't want to stay longer.
Location! Comfortable rooms. Rooftop bar is a nice place to hang out (aside from pricey drinks). Small elevator. The bathroom layout was weird, the shower stall was only half covered by glass, and the other half completely open. This combined with the shower head placement meant that the bathroom was completely soaked after anyone showered.
Location is nice as it's just off of Michigan Ave..Beds are comfortable.. Great that Glazed and Infused is in the lobby....some rooms have nice views...We found it charming on the first visit.... This was our second visit...and things seemed to have slipped a bit. No early check-in available( 3 couples ahead of asked and were told no as well)...reserved a double room, was first given a SMALL king...corrected the error, but not happily ...only 2 bath towels... rooms getting a bit worn...Worst of all, The Drum Bar ( which we were looking forward to spending time a money in) had NO air-conditioning and no DJ( as promised)... disgruntled employees couldn't have moved slower... sadly, will not stay here again.

Great location with a nice hotel design. The drum bar and the bakery were nice perks. Its an older building and that is very obvious. The AC is questionable, the elevators are small and take quite a while, and if you want normal pillows you need to request them.

When we got there they said they were sold out and gave us a room with one bed for 3 people...they upgraded us to a suite but still only one bed and one of us had to sleep on horrible sofa bed. Then the battery in the security system of the door died so we had to ask for master key to get in and out of our room! They fixed it the next day but we were leaving anyway. We won't stay there again!!!! Bellman were very sweet! Dwayne is awesome!
The staff was extremely helpful with everything from directions to meal preferences. The quality of atmosphere was also very good. The decor and views from the hotel were better than anywhere I've ever stayed. The pool area was not on par with the essence or ambiance of the rest of the hotel, with the lack of hot tub areas and the extreme plainness of the pool area compared to the rest of the hotel.

Service staff never made me feel like I was a bother. I loved the spacious and newly remodeled room we stayed in. Beautiful bump out bay window with breathtaking views of the river and Lake Michigan. Bathroom had very high end finishes, and also included a television in the mirror! The maintenance guy who tried to fix a broken bathroom light was using very profane language as he failed at repairing the light. However, this staff member's behavior scored us a free upgrade from city view - to river lake view - so it all worked out.

Efficient and clean
The hotel is historic, but apart from the lobby, which is impressive, the historic details are not well preserved, so overall it feels less like a grand old hotel and more like just an old and run-down hotel. The room was small; carpet was worn out; drapes hideous; no fan in the bathroom; a tray of junk food was set out on display front of the bed, which could not be moved without incurring a charge, so it was like we were sleeping in a convenience store.
Gorgeous lobby with polite staff. The bed was incredibly comfy and the room fairly clean. We had a room that shared a door with another room. It was EXTREMELY loud despite the gentlemen next door speaking in normal volume levels. They had their tv quite low, yet we could hear every word. It made us very uncomfortable. We chose not to make a fuss out of it since we had a terrible drive in and we were only staying one night. The bathroom was TINY.

In the middle of everywhere I needed to be! Near read line, near great restaurants and near the bean. Bed was a bit too uncomfortable and no water pressure in shower.
The check in was smooth and easy. Our attendant answered all of our questions and made great suggestions for food and activities. I will say, i had the BEST caramel macchiato at the Starbucks that is in this hotel. I told the barista then, and i'm saying it again now, it was hands down the best! The bed seemed really firm which is unusual for hotels, usually they are plush.
We had a lovely room, very well decorated. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. It was quiet and the staff was extremely personable whenever we came across them. The lobby itself is worth a visit. It's like stepping into a guided yesteryear. The paint on the back of the bathroom door was flaking. The tv is too small and it was hard to get the remote to work with it from the beds.
I always stay here when visiting Chicago. Lovely and helpful staff, beautiful room, extremely clean, and of course, the beautiful architecture of the building! Although I understand the price, I just wish it were a little cheaper so I could stay longer! My favorite place to stay in Chicago!
Incredibly beautiful hotel. The lobby is a masterpiece. I felt like I was transported in time...with modern amenities close by. Wish there was a refrig in the room but other than that, this trip was perfect. I plan to visit The Palmer many more times.
Décor in the lobby was fantastic, staff in the restaurant were wonderfully attentive. Excessive noise due to an event with 200 high school and young adults. They were allowed to run up and down the stair wells until 4am even after complaining to the front desk. I expected the Palmer House to be luxury accommodations, but found in reality they do not care about their guests. Host at the Honors desk was very short and abrupt.

The location was perfect! We were able to shop, enjoy the nightlife, and take in the Chicago Marathon. Everything was close by. The price was pretty high, but we stayed over Columbus Day/Chicago Marathon weekend so I guess that rooms were at a premium.

Comfort and the attention of the reception employees. The location is also excellent. The room was not clean. I found a dirty glass under the bed. Besides, dirty plates remained for long hours in front of the doors of some rooms. I really hope it was an exception: that´s why I keep on recommending the hotel.
It was a great location and the staff was very friendly. I spent a lot of time looking for a room that would comfortably fit 3 adults. I was traveling with my 19 year old daughter and my 67 year old mother. I specifically booked and paid for a "triple room". When we got to the room there were 2 small double beds. Not at all what I expected for 3 adults or for $400 per night. Be very aware of what you are actually getting for your money. This was not at all comfortable for 3 regular sized adults. I will say everything else was fine but I felt very ripped off for what we paid vs. what we got. I could have booked a regular room anywhere for much less.

Stayed here Dec 12-14, 2014, this was our 2nd time staying here due to close proximity to Navy Pier's Winter Wonderland. Last year the Manager's reception offered better appetizers, seemed to be a bit cheaper this year. Staff is wonderful and room was really clean. We had an issue with the thermostat, it was almost 80 degrees the whole stay. The kids love it here, it's really family oriented. They seemed to like swimming in the pool better than Winter Wonderland, they made several little friends during our short stay. Will probably be back next year, we love it here.

We wanted to be close to Navy Pier and we were!! The suite was clean and functional and quiet once the door was shut. The hotel is massive--I had no idea. And if you have a fear of heights (as I do) it is not for you: the suites open onto a huge atrium space. Check- in was easy and there was no check-out. In fact, I was told that if I needed a receipt that I needed to get it through booking.com (I found that odd). There is no personal service, yet they do manage to serve breakfast and a cocktail or wine to the hordes quite efficiently.
Staff was very helpful and we were able to get a later checkout upon our departure, which was nice and allowed to kids to swim for a bit before we left. Check in and out was easy, and parking was easily accessible. The price on the all inclusive Disney kids on Demand TV package I order did not reflect what was charged to my bill. It was only a difference of $2.99 and ultimately not a big deal, but still, I feel as though you should be paying what you are quoted. Also, being that it was a holiday weekend, it would have been nice if breakfast was open until 10 as it is on the weekends, but I get the weekend vs. weekend schedule. The lines were a bit long by the end of breakfast and early breakfast is always hard to do with my kids. But again, not a huge deal in the whole scheme of things. We will definitely be back.

Loved the convenience to attractions and activities downtown, and really enjoyed the cooked-to-order omelets in the morning. Watching the chef was great! I didn't care for the decor/style of the room floors; looking out from the hallway it reminded me of a prison or a housing project. While I enjoyed the stay, the room, and the service, none of it was worth the price I paid. Way too expensive.

I stayed here for business and also leisure. I chose this hotel based off of location and it was perfectly placed near all of the great tourism spots in the city. I walked everywhere all weekend, which is a great way to burn off all the delicious food Chicago has to offer. The view from the room of the city and the Chicago river is spectacular. The hotel staff was extremely nice, accommodating and the rooms were very clean. The parking fee to keep your car there during your stay is astronomical. We received a note card saying we get a "free gift" for staying there in our room the first morning we were there. When we turned it in, it was a free vacation only if you were over 28 and married and your spouse was staying with you, which I didn't qualify for as my spouse was at home. Because of that, I received one drink with an appetizer purchase (so not a free gift if you have to buy something ) at the hotel resturant. I think gimmicks like this are insulting and a waste of the guests time.

Great people! Helpful and personal service. We requested a river view room (def worth the extra $$!) and were surprised with an amazing corner room with the greatest views! This location is better than staying up in the Mag Mile area if you plan on seeing the sights. Short walk to Millenium Park, Art Institute, and the L. And you are right at the base of the Mag Mile. Loved being on the river more than I can say! The room was clean and comfy, not a five star hotel but a very acceptable four star. The restaurant/bar is not wonderful, but we don't go to Chicago to eat in the hotel. The shower had one of those fancy yet totally impractical giant shower heads that comes down from the center of the ceiling. A trend that needs to go away.

The beautiful view of lake Michigan. Close proximity to great restaurants and shopping. Nico Osteria restaurant within the hotel was excellent. The room was beautifully decorated, very comfortable bed, reading light ( unexpected), and huge bathroom and shower. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. One of the late afternoons we needed to call for extra towels,since our room had not been cleaned,and we had been out all day. I do realize that this weekend was a home Bears foorball game and was very busy.
Nice Interior Design. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. This is a much better location than other hotels I have stayed at further south. We took a very nice walk north to Lincoln Park. It is a beautiful neighborhood and does not even feel like you are in the city. Too pricey for me to use other than business. I did not need or use "facilities" so that is the only reason I did not give that an "excellent" score. We were not impressed with the breakfast food. We were very pleased with our lunch at Gibson's across the street.

We go downtown every Christmas and this was the first time we stayed here. We loved it. Friendly staff, wonderful accommodation, and great location. We will certainly be back.

We loved everything about it. From the very beginning (checkin) till the very last second before we left the hotel. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The Concierge made arrangements for a boat trip on the Chicago River. Housekeeping kept our room in perfect shape. We had a room on the 21st floor which had the perfect view towards the chicago skyline. It was awesome. I gladly recommend to visit the Thompson Chicago and will for sure also book on other occasions other Thompson hotels. Thank you for this very wonderful and perfect vacation, Thompson. nothing!
We chose the Thompson Hotel for its location and value on Kayak. If I was traveling alone on business it would have been a better choice. They are super accomaditing allowing us to check in at 11:00 am without any problems. They also have a great online precheck in service. There is a Starbucks next door and good restaurants all around it. The precheck in service is a great idea however, it is as if you actually request something like an extra blanket or extra towels which were questions on the precheck in system they do not fulfill them. The elevator system requires you to use your room key to get up to your floor however, there is only one reader per elevator and it was virtually impossible to get to it when using the elevator. So many people were talking about riding the elevator up and down trying to get to their floors. The showers were never hot just warm regardless of the time of day. The A/C was all over the the place, hot / cold. The room refresh was seriously below average and actually just a really bad bed make up with fresh towels. They basically missed at the attempt to be a chic boutique hotel. There is no real identity to this property.

Location was great. Staff was nice. Workout facility adequate. The BIG bar and the common spaces were really neat. no convienent way to have towels replaced. You had to call housekeeping. Also the sink was small, no place to leave personal items on sink. Couldn't use the refrigerator because it was rigged to charge you for minibar items.
Overall good stay here, the lobby is great with friendly front desk staff and the Big Bar is pretty cool to grab a couple drinks. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The bell hop that helped us with our bags was extremely rude and not helpful. Also the bartender we had was not very pleasant.
From check in to check out, our stay at the Hyatt Regency was a superb experience. The staff was genuinely hospitable, and the entire facility was luxurious. The premium view is worth the extra $$$, as we had a breathtaking view of the river and lakefront. Definitely recommend. It was pricey, but definitely worth it. I really can't say anything else that was undesirable, as our stay was basically perfect.

Check in was busy but efficient Because it was our 10th wedding anniversary I called to have a bottle of proseco waiting for us in the room. I was told they didn't have proseco but it was listed in the menu. The walls are paper thin. So much so not only could I hear the guy next door but I could also hear the person he was talking to on the phone. came downstairs to get my car from the valet and was told it would take 20 minutes. No one said anything when I checked in and there were no instructions that allowed you to call ahead from your room. Bathroom floor was sticky. Overall, the worse hotel visit.

Hotel staff was friendly and polite on check-in. Hotel room was clean and spacious. Hotel decor has a contemporary and urban feel. Convenience store in lobby had healthy options for snacks. Dinner at the Steak restaurant located in lobby was delicious! Waitstaff was attentive without interrupting our dinner conversation. Conference rooms were far away down two escalators. Restrooms were difficult to find. One floor was under construction.

We loved the location and the welcoming and helpful staff. The atmosphere is elegant. For a small extra cost, we opted for the Executive Room with access throughout the day for a light breakfast, snacks during the day, and hors doerves during cocktail hour. It's view is spectacular and all but the tables which are too small, we enjoyed immensely and visited often during our stay. WiFi in your room is an extra cost and not included in the price of your room.
The Drake is a Chicago classic. A bit old, but very luxuries and very, very beautiful. The excellent location and nice staff delivering outstanding service make the Drake the place to be. A bit dated, and almost impossible to roll your own luggage. Unlike most hotels with marble floors, The Drake has the thickest carpet imaginable. Also, the rooms are small for the US (and the money) and you will pay a lot for a view. However, this is the oldest and most desirable location that The Drake sets the standards for all of the other Chicago luxury hotels.
not much Room was 'nasty' for a 4 star hotel. -broken soap dish on the floor -faucet handle was not fastened and fell. -really dirty carpet -old building. poorly renovated. bad paint job in the hallways.

Location and old world elegance Several elevators broken, tea room not kept up-my chair had a big hole in it. Chairs looked dilapidated, carpet worn, menu insert pages barely legible (bad photo copies). Most pages had faded writing in 3 of the four menus. Also-3 menus did not include alcoholic beverages

Whinin walking distance to downtown shopping and attractions and great restaurants, walked to Chicsgo Art Institute to take in Van Gough exhibit. Parking too expensive
Small Room not clean
I came to stay at Hotel Felix for NYE in Chicago. The location was excellent and I never had to walk more than 15 minutes to get to anything. Just a few blocks from Michigan Ave and tons of restaurants. But, the rooms were dirty and our floor smelled horrible. I'm certain our sheets were never washed due to all of the mystery hairs I found in the sheets. We also had a mix up when we checked in. Instead of putting us in a queen room, like we reserved 4 months prior, we were placed in room with 2 full beds. When we asked to be moved to our appropriate room so were placed in a tiny room. If you don't mind sacrificing space and cleanliness for location this hotel is fine. But if you are expecting a luxurious night in the city don't waste your time.

The hotel is quirky, clean and comfortable. Compact rooms for people looking for a comfortable place to sleep but don't need all the bells and whistles. Everything was clean. The girl at the front desk checking in was mumbly and hard to hear. Waited 5+ minutes for a valet attendant to show up (we were the only people there at the moment). Then we were taken up to an uncleaned room. Storing our bags in luggage after we checked out was a similar struggle finding an attendant that was supposed to be there. Fortunately there was one of the staff members who continually helped resolve the issues all weekend long. He was very professional and willing to do any job with patience and a smile. Please hire more staff like him!
It looks very chic walking in. The staff was all young and super friendly. The air smelled like it was diffused with something. There was a small bar and restaurant attached, which was convenient. Room was small but clean and nice. Staff suggested a boat tour and also booked it for us AND printed off directions, which was really helpful. The room was very small.. I kept hitting my shins on the edge of the bed. My friend and I stayed there together so it made for a pretty tight space but we didn't spend a ton of time in there so it was fine. Also, no breakfast, just free coffee. We ordered towels at one point and no one ever showed up.
Almost everything was absolutely wonderful except... Cleaning staff did not fully replace my used towels and cups. Also, the location made it difficult to easily hail a taxi.
I did not like anything about this hotel. It's in downtown Chicago and it has carpet like a motel. Does not make you feel comfortable at all. The tv sucks the picture even worse. The worst hotel I've been too! Too expensive for a motel like setting. First and last time ever at this hotel. -10

location (1) the fact we provided them a different credit card to charge my bill and they said they were good and then I get my statement and they charged the original card after they said it wouldn't be charged. (2) the lines to check out were long and it took us over 20 minutes to just check out. (3) we were not made aware of the wine hour when everyone else we spoke to was. Overall experience was not the best and the purpose of our visit was to find location venues for an upcominng tradeshow - I think if we would have made them aware we would have been treated much better.
I arrived early morning and was so glad to be checked in and didn't have to wait until mid afternoon. The cleanliness of the hotel was great. The staff was most accommodating. The on site restaurants were very good.

Some may not like the smaller rooms (especially baths) but this is a very nice boutique hotel. They have done an excellent job of refurbishing a grand old building and the ambience captures the imagination. We loved it and would stay again for the good rate we got through booking.com No coffee machines and no coffee in lobby, but a coffee shop on the corner that was open at 5am.
Located right in the Loop of Chicago, this hotel is only 2 blocks from the Blue Line train from the airport. Free WiFi if you are a Kimpton Rewards member (or if you sign up during your stay). Free wine social hour every night from 5-6pm. You also get a minibar credit if you are a rewards member before you check in. The front entrance was a little odd - the lobby is up on the floor above and not well marked. The view out the window in my room was a brick wall.
