The staff was extremely helpful with everything from directions to meal preferences. The quality of atmosphere was also very good. The decor and views from the hotel were better than anywhere I've ever stayed. The pool area was not on par with the essence or ambiance of the rest of the hotel, with the lack of hot tub areas and the extreme plainness of the pool area compared to the rest of the hotel.
Service staff never made me feel like I was a bother. I loved the spacious and newly remodeled room we stayed in. Beautiful bump out bay window with breathtaking views of the river and Lake Michigan. Bathroom had very high end finishes, and also included a television in the mirror! The maintenance guy who tried to fix a broken bathroom light was using very profane language as he failed at repairing the light. However, this staff member's behavior scored us a free upgrade from city view - to river lake view - so it all worked out.
Extremely helpful staff and the facilities were first class from room amenities to the gym. Location is great - easy walking access to shopping, tourist destinations etc
This is a great hotel the atmosphere that employees everyone was great there
Superior service and accommodations, personal at hotel far superior to any staff at any hotel!
great accomodations and service
Great last minute room rate. Odors in lobby and hallway. Exhaust problems from kitchen.
Loved the view from our room. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Some of the bellhop men could be more friendly but besides that it was a very amazing stay for our family!
Everything... not the room i asked for... was lied too. telling me things would be the same and werent... not even close. will not use again.
staff super professional and freindly location is great rooms are great price to valet parking "free" WIFI in rooms, weak
I stayed here for business and also leisure. I chose this hotel based off of location and it was perfectly placed near all of the great tourism spots in the city. I walked everywhere all weekend, which is a great way to burn off all the delicious food Chicago has to offer. The view from the room of the city and the Chicago river is spectacular. The hotel staff was extremely nice, accommodating and the rooms were very clean. The parking fee to keep your car there during your stay is astronomical. We received a note card saying we get a "free gift" for staying there in our room the first morning we were there. When we turned it in, it was a free vacation only if you were over 28 and married and your spouse was staying with you, which I didn't qualify for as my spouse was at home. Because of that, I received one drink with an appetizer purchase (so not a free gift if you have to buy something ) at the hotel resturant. I think gimmicks like this are insulting and a waste of the guests time.
I loved that we had a mini sofa in our room. I would have liked a mirror outside of the bathroom - 4 people had to share one mirror for hair, makeup etc.
One of the better exercise areas I've seen in a hotel. A shop downstairs for incidentals (especially water) would be nice, instead of having to walk to the nearby Seven Eleven.
Great people! Helpful and personal service. We requested a river view room (def worth the extra $$!) and were surprised with an amazing corner room with the greatest views! This location is better than staying up in the Mag Mile area if you plan on seeing the sights. Short walk to Millenium Park, Art Institute, and the L. And you are right at the base of the Mag Mile. Loved being on the river more than I can say! The room was clean and comfy, not a five star hotel but a very acceptable four star. The restaurant/bar is not wonderful, but we don't go to Chicago to eat in the hotel. The shower had one of those fancy yet totally impractical giant shower heads that comes down from the center of the ceiling. A trend that needs to go away.
It was nice and in a great location They gave me a single king room with no view but I payed for a double queen with a view and even paid extra for a view room and then just gave us a free meal that sucked
Wedding with loud DJ two floors above us kept us up one night. We called the desk and they seemed like they couldnt have cared less about our concern
The elevator took very long. Waited over 15 for one to come.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Wonderful room! At least 2 ice machines were not operational.
Hotel staff was friendly and polite on check-in. Hotel room was clean and spacious. Hotel decor has a contemporary and urban feel. Convenience store in lobby had healthy options for snacks. Dinner at the Steak restaurant located in lobby was delicious! Waitstaff was attentive without interrupting our dinner conversation. Conference rooms were far away down two escalators. Restrooms were difficult to find. One floor was under construction.
Massive hotel. too big. very unpersonal. conference hotel and for group travel.
I enjoyed my stay. No recommendations for improvement T this time
Centrally located and accessible to tourist attractions. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Value priced.
almost everything $65 for parking at their hotel. too much for guest
Location was great. Staff was nice. Workout facility adequate. The BIG bar and the common spaces were really neat. no convienent way to have towels replaced. You had to call housekeeping. Also the sink was small, no place to leave personal items on sink. Couldn't use the refrigerator because it was rigged to charge you for minibar items.
From check in to check out, our stay at the Hyatt Regency was a superb experience. The staff was genuinely hospitable, and the entire facility was luxurious. The premium view is worth the extra $$$, as we had a breathtaking view of the river and lakefront. Definitely recommend. It was pricey, but definitely worth it. I really can't say anything else that was undesirable, as our stay was basically perfect.
Very clean comfortable room with a great view. Close to many areas we wanted to visit. Would definitely choose this hotel again.
Check in was busy but efficient Because it was our 10th wedding anniversary I called to have a bottle of proseco waiting for us in the room. I was told they didn't have proseco but it was listed in the menu. The walls are paper thin. So much so not only could I hear the guy next door but I could also hear the person he was talking to on the phone. came downstairs to get my car from the valet and was told it would take 20 minutes. No one said anything when I checked in and there were no instructions that allowed you to call ahead from your room. Bathroom floor was sticky. Overall, the worse hotel visit.
Overall good stay here, the lobby is great with friendly front desk staff and the Big Bar is pretty cool to grab a couple drinks. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The bell hop that helped us with our bags was extremely rude and not helpful. Also the bartender we had was not very pleasant.
Bed was to soft pillows
Easy walk to many restaurant, sites and public transportation.
no free coffee
The 5:00 PM wine hour and the interesting decor. Most of the furniture in the lobby was cool looking but not comfortable to sit on.
I arrived early morning and was so glad to be checked in and didn't have to wait until mid afternoon. The cleanliness of the hotel was great. The staff was most accommodating. The on site restaurants were very good.
Located right in the Loop of Chicago, this hotel is only 2 blocks from the Blue Line train from the airport. Free WiFi if you are a Kimpton Rewards member (or if you sign up during your stay). Free wine social hour every night from 5-6pm. You also get a minibar credit if you are a rewards member before you check in. The front entrance was a little odd - the lobby is up on the floor above and not well marked. The view out the window in my room was a brick wall.
location (1) the fact we provided them a different credit card to charge my bill and they said they were good and then I get my statement and they charged the original card after they said it wouldn't be charged. (2) the lines to check out were long and it took us over 20 minutes to just check out. (3) we were not made aware of the wine hour when everyone else we spoke to was. Overall experience was not the best and the purpose of our visit was to find location venues for an upcominng tradeshow - I think if we would have made them aware we would have been treated much better.
Very modern hotel. No pool
The staff was rude and disrespectful. The staff.
Close to the El; convenient
Some may not like the smaller rooms (especially baths) but this is a very nice boutique hotel. They have done an excellent job of refurbishing a grand old building and the ambience captures the imagination. We loved it and would stay again for the good rate we got through booking.com No coffee machines and no coffee in lobby, but a coffee shop on the corner that was open at 5am.
Was a bit of a mess but it will end. Not all rooms have a desk for computers
It's hard to exactly explain the understated but rich comfort of the Silversmith. They've put a lot of effort into getting the interior design just right, in the lobby as well as in the rooms, both of which are very comfortable. The staff is welcoming and friendly. All in all this is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed at, and we've stayed at many. I guess in a nutshell I would say it reminds me of a Kimpton hotel, but with a more quietly dignified attitude. I was underwhelmed by the restaurant downstairs, but it doesn't really matter since there are plenty of dining options in that part of the Loop
This is a charming boutique hotel in the heart of the South Loop. Well worth a stay.
We got a great rate on kayak. The room was spacious, bathroom was huge, and shower was great. Lots of storage and hangers. Staff was extremely helpful, very nice, and very quick when help was needed. The view of the room was awful. We looked at a very dirty alleyway with a view of a brick wall. Also our truck was damaged by the valet service. They assured us they would make it right, so that's why I still gave them 4 stars.
Talk to Bennie when you get there. He'll get you set up downtown.
Didn't stay here long but got upgraded to a beautiful suite. Great facilities, decor, etc. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Definitely a great choice!
I was delighted to be upgraded to a suite, which was very attractively and comfortably furnished - I'm a fan of Mission style. The location is great. Only a few yards away from the Madison-Wabash CTA stop, easy walking distance to Millenium Park, Art Institute of Chicago, the lakefront, many fine restaurants, and the Lyric Opera. Having Ada's downstairs is also a plus for breakfast or lunch. I wish the hotel would provide real glasses for drinking instead of soft plastic cups.
Like the decor, rooms were warm and clean, bathroom big and well-lit. Gym was fine, too
Loved the atmosphere, very pretty, very nice hotel. Had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it.
Everyone was just so helpful - whether it was advice on the train system, to off the beaten path restaurants or activities, all of the staff went out of their way to help us enjoy our trip to Chicago. The room was very quiet - we seldom heard any noise outside of our door. There was a bit of construction outside the hotel, but even that added to the peace we felt at the facility.
Location, location, location Two blocks from Chicago 'bean' - cloud gate and parks. Front of hotel with construction for 'E' was not pretty -- but we never heard any noise in our room.
The location was nice. Boring hotel, average style rooms and amenities for the price range hotel
Excellent location, clean comfortable room, polite helpful staff, free wine & snack every evening.... Nothing
We enjoyed the wine reception and the taste breakfast in the adjecent restaurant. The hotel is located right in the heart of Chicago and pleasantlly quiet. The hotel does not provide slipers.
Very comfortable, nice different decoration, excellent service, personnel, complimentary wine between 5-6pm. Few blocks from Billy Eliot's musical (must see!). Great restaurant close by, Catch 35! Nice walk to Mgnif. Mile. Allow 1 hour to airport due to traffic. nothing
Great location and a very good hotel overall No tea or coffee facilities in the room.
This is a very nice and comfortable hotel. Rooms are nicely decorated and the bed was excellent. Also free WiFi. I will definitely book this hotel again on one of my business trips to Chicago.
Location was central to everything and the staff was very helpful. Toilet paper was really poor quality. Minor problem with the bill that was quickly settled.
Everything..great fluffy pancakes at breakfast I love this hotel. For some reason when I checked in they thought I had requested an adjoining room (I did not)and did not have me scheduled for a room with 2 beds that I had reserved. However they did some juggling and gave me the type of room I had requested.
Great location. Morning coffee and afternoon wine. The room was too dark. There is inadequate lighting. Pillows were feather but far too soft.
Stylish, friendly staff, good location. Lovely L'Occetaine toiletries, but putting bath products (those bath "bombs") for sale in the bathroom is tacky. Either offer them as an amenity or don't put them out at all. Same with the "animal" socks. Hotel rooms aren't department stores. Coffee in the lobby was excellent. It would be nice if you could add a small selection of rolls or muffins to complement the coffee. And it would be great if the coffee service was offered until noon or even later. Asked for and received a quiet room. However, the trade off was a room overlooking a service roof/steakhouse sign, with no view of the beautiful city of Chicago. I would imagine a quiet room can be had without sacrificing a city view. Don't double glazed windows block out noise? The room was dark because of the lack of natural light and somewhat depressing. Prior to my visit I joined the Kimpton club, but the front desk had no record of my membership. Membership is supposed to offer a number of benefits, including preferred newspaper delivered to the room, but I only received the requested ny Times one day out of the three I stayed at the hotel. Pad and pen (I took them with me when I went out) were not replaced during my stay
Very friendly and helpful staff. Large and comfy rooms. Beautifully designed entry way. Wine hour at 5pm was great. Close to shopping, restaurants and museums. Ended up with a room that had absolutely no view. Room cleaning could have been better, but nothing gross. Those two things made the $190 plus tax per night room a little too expensive.
Great, attentive staff. Terrific location by the river. Comfortable bed. Lobby Door staff was extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. Expensive for what you get. Room a/c is on energy saving computer load management, so it can take ten minutes to respond. River view 7th floor deluxe king Room had one uncomfortable arm chair, and a tiny sliver of a window that allowed one to see the bridge over the river, but, no water or boats. Exercise room was a joke, just A universal and dumbells. Free morning coffee a plus, but offset with tiny cups and mediocre coffee blend. Free evening wine was nice, but unlike far less expensive embassy suites, no snacks offered.
Location Rate Small room and bathroom Hotel could have been cleaner. Room temperature hard to regulate Very dated
Parking cost of 69$ a night!
The rooms are nice size, it's in a great location, the fitness center is nice and the bar is popular. The rooms have an eclectic look. The beds are comfortable and the hotel is quiet. The staff was attentive and curtious. The price was very good for the location. We ordered food at the bar and they checked on it twice but it never came. Everything else was great
Great customer service! The staff was very helpful and informative. The Manager spent about 20 minutes with us outlining key points on a map he provided of places to go and things to see as well as the walking distance from the hotel. The whole staff was very friendly. The ambiance of the hotel decor & design was outstanding, not to mention the perfect view from our room. The location is superb & right in the center of Chicago's nightlife. The only thing that I didn't like about the place is that they shut down the pool area earlier than most hotels. But overall would rate this hotel a perfect 10. Great experience and would definitely recommend!
Everything about our stay was fantastic. The room was ready when we arrived and they upgraded us on the house which was very nice. The room was small but very clean and comfortable. The staff was wonderful they were so nice and friendly that made our stay that much better. I will definitely be stay there next time I visit Chicago.
Location is perfect you can literally walk to 5 STAR restaurants and catching a cab or uber no problem. The staff was great, my room was a little small with no view and when I asked to switch rooms they gave me a much bigger room with water/bridge view of the city on the 11th floor. The staff are very friendly and they made me feel at home. I'm from California and its always nice to feel welcome and greeted with a smile. The bathroom shower head is amazing you will want to stay as long as you can in the shower. The set up of the room is beautiful and modern. The view and large space in room is amazing, but the walls are thin and I can hear the elevator going up and down day and night and people talking in the hallways. I'm really big with bathrooms and I didn't like how the bathroom floor felt on my feet.
Overall hotel is good...good location, nice athmosphere, etc Bugs in the bed! ... Woman hair in the bed! ... Air conditioner not working properly....
The hotel was very clean, staff went out of their way to accommodate my needs, very centrally located and convenient. Got a great deal on the price too! Outside of their control, the pipes froze around 10pm and there was no heat. I requested an extra blanket but it never arrived at least not by the time I fell asleep.
Beautiful clean hotel! Very welcoming and gracious staff. Very comfortable beds.
Location in the heart of Chicago downtown. Lack of concern for the interests of customers. I was a Marriot Gold Elite member and after this recent stay I felt like I should quit the reward program for good.
No available movies to watch in room.
Pleasant people. Fast elevator. No cover for the House of Blues. $69/night parking.
Rooms were big and spacious, on state street and walking distance to Michigan Avenue and very popular for their restaurants. Housekeeping were take time to clean the rooms, I would go out from morning and come back and the room was still not cleaned.
Extremely convenient for getting to the Chicago Theatre.
Quite pleasant and well situated.
The room was clean and interesting and the hotel well situated in the heart of things. Concierges were particularly accomodating. The rooftop lounge- to which guests get priority access seemed 'the' place to be at night The business centre ( internet access and printers) was painfully frigid and the computers not user friendly.
The room was very comfortable, pretty and sexy:) I loved the skybar, and the gym. My only concern was the noise factor from the train and a clock that kept going off outside.
One of the best hotels in Chicago. Ideal location to everything in the city, wonderful staff and service, Roof Top Bar is excellent. Overall best hotel experience I've had in Chicago.
great location, service, & facility
The fridge didn't work so the brought up a dented scratched fridge and set it in the middle of the room. The room was not clean. No hospitality. Way over priced!!!!
beautiful room, great amenities, very clean and modern some confusion at the front desk when checking in but it seemed to only be us
Great location to everything in the city! You can walk to the Riverwalk which has so many things to do! very clean hotel and staff is so so accommodating and welcoming! The bed was very uncomfortable! Had a huge dip in the middle of the mattress! Other than that no complaints
I couldn't reccommend this hotel enough. The staff are friendly and helpful, the location is cental to shops and restaurants, the hotel itself is very trendy while the rooms are very welcoming. And you get a warm cookie upon arrival - what more could you want! The "nature" sounds that are piped into the corridors - nice touch, but they woke me every morning!
Great staff, good location. Restaurant is wonderful. Small room, older hotel/rooms, bed not so comfortable, no in room eats other than water/coffee. Definitely over priced.
We stayed here with our two older children (age 16 & 20) over July 4 weekend; an incredibly busy weekend for the city but this was an oasis of luxury. Recently renovated, hotel features a beautiful artistic lobby, excellent coffee/sandwich bar in lobby, lounging areas with couches, restaurant, bar. Rooms are deluxe, very comfortable beds, modern bathrooms, with gorgeous views of the city and nearby Chicago river.
Location, bedding, room decor. Wasn't notified of renovations by kayak nor Marriott, when I told the front desk this, I was told I should do my own research to make sure hotel isn't being renovated. Then the workers started a half hour earlier than I was told on Sunday morning, and when I called the front desk, nothing was done about it. They were constantly drilling directly above our room. I was given the wrong room and wasn't offered a switch when the correct room became available, and I left an item there after checking out and called two hours later and the item had gone missing from the room. When I called the customer care line, the hotel called back to apologize and did not offer anything to rectify the situation. Terrible stay, will not be booking there ever again.
ALL staff that we incountered from valet to bellman house keeping and front desk were all very friendly and helpful. Having worked in the hotel industry it was easy to spot a top notch beautiful hotel with an amazing staff. Toilet was loose or unattached to the bathroom floor but still functioned properly.
Great location, nice room, beautiful bathroom, comfortable beds, steps from the orange line, State St. and Michigan Ave., Theatres, and museums. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. Great rice view. Libby music was a bit loud, but the younger crow probably would think that was great!
Elevators require key each time to go up stairs
Desk staff quite friendly and helpful. Everything classy and elegant. Umbrella iin closet was a nice tough. Didn't patronize the Atrwood? Restaurant although attractive ambience, Prices were prohibitive. Cup of cofffee: #$4.00, Eggs bENEDICT: $15.00 Fugget about it.
The building, itself, is a renovated office building across from Macy's on State St. The location is ideal for sight seeing in the Loop. It's unique. A lot of art deco trim. It's nicely decorated, the staff is pleasant. They serve complimentary wine at 5 p.m. It's boutique hotel, not a monster one. The rooms are small.
It was a beautiful hotel and a great experience valet parking price
I had an excellent room with a view of both State and Washington Streets and Millenium Park!
Loved all the old architectural features. The rooms were small but the architecture, view, location and excellent air conditioning made up for the size. My suggestion is to add a quiet seating area near the stairs and elevators on each floor so that guests that awaken early can read and have coffee while a child or partner sleeps. Joan
Beautiful; FANTASTIC service provided by all areas; clean Mattresses were hard
Staff were amazing! They took care of all the details with great courtesy. The room was beautiful, the bed was super comfortable and everything was very clean. The Atwood Cafe food was delicious, and they modified reservations for us without a fuss. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to family and friends.
I liked the location and the quite comfort of the room. I liked the variety of contents in the minibar, even though I didn't actually eat but one thing. My room was a little noisy, but I just wore earplugs and that worked out for the most part.
Warm, accommodating staff. Great location. Quaint, historic building. The hotel was more than adequate for our needs, but guests should not expect huge rooms.
Staff was very friendly and very helpful. Rooms were clean and very nice. Only complaint was elevator on Sunday morning. Most people are trying to leave and the maid staff had most cars filled with there carts. Maybe staging a cart on every floor would help that congestion. Otherwise it was a great place to stay.
We like the intimacy of the hotel. The staff made us feel welcome. The location is walking distance from theaters, shopping, lake front. Parking is very expensive: tip - 3 blocks west of the hotel is public parking lot and we paid $15 for the whole weekend.
Staff were fantastic. Very helpful and eager to assist.
Staff was excellent. Tracey got us into our room early so we could drop our bags and run all over the city with the kids. Everyone had such friendly and accommodating attitudes. Wish I could remember a few of the door men's names because they too went above and beyond the call of duty. The accommodations were very nice and appealing. Pool for the kids to hop in and great hot tub after all of the walking we did.
Traveled with wife and two young children. Location is great - we walked to Navy Pier, Lincoln Park Zoo, Shedd Aquarium, Magnificent Mile, etc. Had a small pool that the boys enjoyed. Best soundproofing I've experienced with an urban hotel. Staff was unfailingly polite and helpful and very nice to our boys (conversed w/them at check-in, gave them Animal Crackers and bubbles, always opened doors for us). I had fairly high expectations having stayed with this brand numerous times but I was really blown away at the level of service and value on this trip.
The bed was very comfy and I loved all the feather pillows! It also had a great lounging chair so I didn't have to sit in the bed. The shower had a big shower head which was nice too. My room was directly across from the elevators (also the only room in this location) so I felt a little uneasy as a single woman getting off the elevator and having a large group of people see me go into my room. The room was nice but had a bit of a musty/body odor smell. I got used to it fairly quickly but not a smell you want greeting you! Oh and only one plug outlet by the bed, for a double room I thought this was odd.
Very friendly staff and good lobby & restaurant area Rooms were standard/a bit plain. There was a stain on our couch as well. Extremely noisy outside at night - you'd think your windows are wide open.
We only stay at Marriott owned hotels. There is no substitute. Nothing.
Great location, friendly staff and clean rooms The valet parking is much more expensive vs other hotels in the same area and the hotel restaurant is pricey.
Was able to get into my room much earlier than anticipated!
Well managed - all respects
