Excellent ...one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at. Professional staff. When coming to Chicago it will be the only Hotel I will stay at.
Beautiful. Comfortable, luxurious. Staff assistance was hit or miss. Very frustrating. Some staff was very helpful. Others were not to the point of carelessness or rudeness. At this hotel I had expected service to be exquisite. It was not. For the price there's other hotels with better service who value their customers more highly.
The only staff I ever saw was at the Check-In Desk. Waited an hour to have an iron delivered to the room. Waited over an hour for car to be dispatched from valet. There was no "welcome to our hotel" from anyone, it was essentially "you're on your own here".
Swanky, under-stated elegance and unique. Greeted the moment we arrived. Great vibe. Nice scenic walk to North End of Michigan Ave (aka miracle mile) and restaurants. Parking in the area is expensive!!...Valet is the only option.
Loved the serene decor. Shower turned to very cold water.
The location is epic; the Gold Coast of Chicago is high end district, places to shop are so close you can walk everywhere. Wonderful restaurants! I would stay here again, and again. The staff were like friends we had missed seeing in ages and always ready to help, in every way from the check in to the cleaning service helping us carry our bags into our room. Our room was a lower rate and as such we were placed near the elevators. We had booked WAY in advance but was told upon check in it was a busy weekend, but we could check in at 12:30 ish... The room we had was small but I am not sure all of them are...?
Atmosphere is always good and location you can't beat. Valet service is average. Kind of slow and impersonal. I should expect better from such an establishment. Either that or it should be included with my room.
Not much Room would not cool down, hallways looked filthy, beds were hard and not comfortable.
It's a very unique hotel where are you and features and close to everything downtown I was very unhappy when they gave my credit card information to a third party
Cool hotel, love this area of Chicago No phone charges available Heater making noise throughout the night, had to choose between being cold or awaken by noise Heat was off when I arrived, "engineer" had to come up to turn it on (shouldn't it be obvious where and how to control the temperature?) Heater was on the ground behind a desk, I had to get under the desk to adjust the temp each time
Likes: Great bedding, comfortable room, cool, rustic elevator, great restaurant, beautiful neighborhood, beautiful entry and lobby. Our dinner was memorable: great service, interesting food, beautiful presentation! Dislikes: very rude parking attendant, expensive parking
Outstanding location They could have at least had free coffee. $7 for morning coffee in a hotel is a little steep.
The library bar and pump room bar were fabulous. Food and cocktails amazing. Great energy throughout the hotel. Fabulous location near both Lincoln Park and the Lake. Very welcoming to solo business/leisure visitors. Great place to work at during the day. The rooms were okay. A little run down (stains on the floor, chipped furniture). I received a good deal on the cost of my room, but wouldn't pay the full price for one of their rooms. But you may really be paying for the location and great food/bar scene.
Location great, nice staff eager to please. Breakfast buffet was cold food only, but good. Rooms were small and clean. Overpriced, elevators were erratic. Power breakfast was fine, but they kept changing the hours. Had to have Food and Bev manager intervene to get breakfast. Did not have enough newspapers on three of the four days I stayed there. Coffee was $9. Mixed drinks were $15. Our group was 50 rooms. Many complaints. Few amenities for the price. No radios in room. Only one electrical plug in room behind chair.
Body hair on the bathroom sink. stains on toilet. Kind of gross for the price.
We go downtown every Christmas and this was the first time we stayed here. We loved it. Friendly staff, wonderful accommodation, and great location. We will certainly be back.
The beautiful view of lake Michigan. Close proximity to great restaurants and shopping. Nico Osteria restaurant within the hotel was excellent. The room was beautifully decorated, very comfortable bed, reading light ( unexpected), and huge bathroom and shower. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. One of the late afternoons we needed to call for extra towels,since our room had not been cleaned,and we had been out all day. I do realize that this weekend was a home Bears foorball game and was very busy.
We loved everything about it. From the very beginning (checkin) till the very last second before we left the hotel. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The Concierge made arrangements for a boat trip on the Chicago River. Housekeeping kept our room in perfect shape. We had a room on the 21st floor which had the perfect view towards the chicago skyline. It was awesome. I gladly recommend to visit the Thompson Chicago and will for sure also book on other occasions other Thompson hotels. Thank you for this very wonderful and perfect vacation, Thompson. nothing!
We chose the Thompson Hotel for its location and value on Kayak. If I was traveling alone on business it would have been a better choice. They are super accomaditing allowing us to check in at 11:00 am without any problems. They also have a great online precheck in service. There is a Starbucks next door and good restaurants all around it. The precheck in service is a great idea however, it is as if you actually request something like an extra blanket or extra towels which were questions on the precheck in system they do not fulfill them. The elevator system requires you to use your room key to get up to your floor however, there is only one reader per elevator and it was virtually impossible to get to it when using the elevator. So many people were talking about riding the elevator up and down trying to get to their floors. The showers were never hot just warm regardless of the time of day. The A/C was all over the the place, hot / cold. The room refresh was seriously below average and actually just a really bad bed make up with fresh towels. They basically missed at the attempt to be a chic boutique hotel. There is no real identity to this property.

Nice Interior Design. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. This is a much better location than other hotels I have stayed at further south. We took a very nice walk north to Lincoln Park. It is a beautiful neighborhood and does not even feel like you are in the city. Too pricey for me to use other than business. I did not need or use "facilities" so that is the only reason I did not give that an "excellent" score. We were not impressed with the breakfast food. We were very pleased with our lunch at Gibson's across the street.
We had a great weekend staying at The Thompson! The location, staff and room were outstanding! We will definitely be staying here again!

The Thompson Hotel Staff were amazing, very friendly and accommodating. We were upgraded to a corner king suite as it was our wedding night so that was a pleasant surprise as well. Overall wonderful experience. Would definitely go back. Nothing!
comfy bed, great location, nice lobby. Front desk lady was not very helpful. Toilet smelled like sewage. They called me from front desk to tell me someone was at my door from hotel personnel when I had privacy sign on...that woke me up...What kind of "privacy on" is this?
I drove to Chicago from Louisiana with my parents (70s) ans my daughter (12). The drive was easy. The hotel was easy to find. Parking was easy. Everything about our stay at Hotel Indigo was amazing. We will definitely return as soon as possible!
Great location, good price. Parking was a bit of a nightmare, and the bed was like a rock, so uncomfortable!

Great location. Nice staff if you pick the right room plenty of space. 2 queen beds plus sitting area The decor is tired and needs a boost. Frame in mirror was warped. Bathroom is tiny
The location - right around the corner from the red train line. A few blocks from magnificent mile and close proximity to other stores (cvs, wing stop, etc) and restaurants (Lou malnati, local pub/tavern, etc.). Staff was helpful and nice. The hotel was clearly renovated, however it was done cheaply. Wall paper was peeling, rust could be seen in a few spots, some poorly covered up/hidden. Cheap laminate flooring was bowing.
Clean, with friendly staff. It's pet-friendly, but someone should tell the pet owners that their pets should NOT be allowed on the foyer couches!!
Good rates, friendly staff. Just needed a place to sleep and store our luggage while we toured the city. Convenient safe in the room to lock and store personal items. Room was clean and tidy. The room was small.
- Fantastic location: wherein most hotels are in the Loop which is dead on the weekends, this is in gorgeous Gold Coast, walking distance to the magnificent mile, Old Town/Wells St. shops & restaurants, and even Lincoln Park, and an easy cab or bus to Wicker Park. In short, you can do touristy stuff, but you don't have to live in the craziness of it and can easily access the neighborhoods more representative of Chicago (we used to live in Chicago). - Funky design and atmosphere. Not to everyone's taste, but much better than nondescript alternatives in the price range. - Reception staff helps out, but none were the least bit friendly. - Gym had decent cardio and weight machines but could use more than exactly 3 dumbbells. - Small rooms.
I did not get to stay there.. because you didnt have a contract with the hotel and thus my reservation was not honored. I Had to scramble for a hotel that night. I still have not been compensated or provided a refund. I will not be using your service again.

At first appearance the hotel room seemed small, but would work. Once we turned down the bed our sheets were either dirty or stained. We called to have them changed and someone finally came to the door to hand is a stack of bedding. We had to tell them to actually change the sheets as we weren't touching them. Same thing with the towels... They appeared to be stained or dirty. Grossed me out. In addition,there were a large amount of bachelorette parties that weekend. I didn't hear any noise from them, however witnessed a lot of genitalia toys & cakes as we came and went.
