It was a 10.5 hr flight and they gave us one meal, a snack and a treat. Not a lot but since we were just sitting it was enough food. We had to stop for a meal on the way home from the airport."
Ulemper: "The seats in the economy cabin are cramped together. If the person in front of your leans back you are almost trapped in your seat. There is little leg room and the cushioning is not enough for a long distance flight. There is no boarding control. People just line up and get on the plane in any order."

Very unnecessary/dramatic situation, especially since we flew with that bag via carry-on multiple times (and on even smaller planes)."

If you had a hint of claustrophobia, you would never make this entire trip without going nuts. I noticed that many of the middle seats were unoccupied, while my family and I were crammed into four seats side-by-side. If we had empty seats between us the flight would have been bearable."

I was then rerouted through Istanbul with the promise that I would be well compensated for my troubles. I was told that I would receive a certain amount for every hour I was delayed from my original arrival at end destination. Well I arrived 8 or more hours after I had originally expected (and the reason I booked with Swiss Air was because of the timing and the apparent luxury of the flight). Once I got back home and tried to pursue this amazing compensation I received some of the worst customer service ever and received 0 compensation for the experience. Very disappointed and will never fly swiss airlines again."

Ulemper: "the last leg, Istanbul to DC was completely full. i was seating at the back (33K). after the meal, i wanted to recline and the man behind me started yelling as he has water on his table. i apologized and asked if i can recline the seat and he yelled again and said i cannot recline my seat. i talked to the flight attendant and she wanted to move me to a middle seat. i declined and eventually the man said i can recline my seat. but i mean, seriously, i got yelled at for trying to recline my seat and got no apologies from anyone."

Ulemper: "After missing our connecting flight in Istanbul on our Turkish Airlines flight on January 9th from LAX-Addis Ababa (due to a nearly 45 minute delayed flight), my sister and I had to spend 24 hours in Istanbul and still pay for a night in our 4 star hotel in Addis, despite the fact that we weren't there. So, in preparation for our flight back to LAX, I spent hours on the phone with a Turkish Airlines representative to ensure that we would not miss our connecting flight on the way back to LAX on January 29 (Jomo Kenyatta-IST-LAX). The TA representative spoke very little English and became incredibly frustrated with me when I expressed my concern about how closely scheduled our connecting flights in Istanbul were. The representative said she could "help us" by seating us at the back of the plane from Jomo Kenyatta-IST, as she was "mostly sure" that our plane would deboard from the back of the plane once we arrived in Istanbul and, in theory, we wouldn't have to wait behind all the other customers to exit. This was totally incorrect: our plane only deboarded from the front exit door and the seats she selected at the back would surely have caused us to miss our next flight were it not for the fact that the plane wasn't full and we arrived only a few minutes late. Still, by the time we got off the plane in IST, our connecting flight was already 15 minutes into boarding. We showed the TA attendants our boarding passes at the long security line, and at first they both said, "don't worry, it will be fine". I had to convince them to let us skip the line as we would clearly have missed our flight. Once we finally made it through security we ran through the ENTIRE Istanbul airport to get to our gate, as we could hear them calling the final boarding call for our flight to LAX. We literally ran as fast as we could for almost 20 minutes straight, with all of our bags, which ended up being over a mile, I would guess. When we got to our gate, we had to go through yet another security line - WHY??? Apparently there was a celebrity in front of us, and while we were sweating and nervous about missing our flight, the security agents were taking selfies with the celebrity. It was insulting and rude and totally unprofessional. The take away for me is that Turkish Airlines should NOT be allowed to sell flights to people that give them less than an hour to make international connecting, especially in an airport as large and disorganized as Istanbul, and especially when Turkish Airlines flights are often late or delayed. This was one of the most stressful flying experiences of my life."

Ulemper: "I am an experienced traveler. I've been to 17 countries and have flown over a million miles in both business and coach. My wife encountered a problem in Istanbul that involved an airport transit visa through Canada. I am certain that any other airline we’ve ever flown would’ve assisted us, since it was easily resolved. To Turkish Airlines, this is simply a part of their business model and a chance to make more money. It took about 8 hours of our time at 5 different airport locations to eventually buy new tickets to get back the next day. Our original tickets say: “REISSUE With 200.00 USD penalty. What I didn’t see was the fine print at the bottom: “Turkish Airlines reserves the right to change rules regarding ticket changes and refunds.”. They mean it. As bad as our personal experience was, the real reason we are so appalled is that we were there long enough to see this is the norm for them. In our single day there, we saw at least 100 other travelers going through similar things. The ONLY solution ever offered is to purchase another ticket. We witnessed several people weeping. Many losing control and shouting. Their own personnel were screaming at customers (in a separate office area though, it was all yucks and laughing). These were people of all nationalities. Africans, Asians, Europeans. We were lucky because we had the means to purchase new tickets. Others clearly didn’t. I really don’t know what happened to some of them. One moment was very symbolic of the entire experience. Another vanquished traveler was paying $843 for a new ticket with cash. He handed her $845 but she, of course, had no change. Instead of the $5, he gave her two $1 bills. I had one in my pocket so gave it to her as well. She held my $1 bill up and pointed to the corner which had a very small piece torn off…no ink was missing…and sneered “I can’t accept this. She did this simply because she could. We were powerless. She knew it and reveled in it."

Ulemper: "Everything very comfortable. Boarding process could be improved with specific directions for passengers in each row on whether to board at front or back, rather than all at once from buses. Very few announcements for boarding process."
Ulemper: "When we arrived walking to the shuttle the crew had thrown our play pen n stroller out on the walkway. They didnt take it inside with our luggage.It was checked in with all the suitcases! So luckly my son recognized it as we were walking by. Very disapointed if he hadnt noticed it we would of been out of luck. No baby bed or stroller! Why dont they take it with the luggage OR at least let you know they dont transfer them for you! Not happy"

I blame my country more than the airline for the new security procedures needed but I literally went through 4 security checkpoints to get on the plane. Not only that, I had to give up my iPad and my $4000 camera to checked luggage at the gate (not my luggage but theirs). Again...not the airlines fault but it was an absolute cluster F...."

Ulemper: "My trip from Zurich to Istanbul would have been okay if it weren't for the screen that was not working. It did not work and I hated not having to do anything else besides eat and sleep."

Ulemper: "I requested for a vegetarian meal both times and I was denied both times because they said they didn't prepare any vegetarian meals. The flight attendant was so rude about it. They also lost my baggage TWICE. Upon arrival in Tel-Aviv and upon return to Stuttgart."

I have no regrets on choosing Turkish airlines for my trip and I look forward to my remaining trips with this airline."

I would never recline my seat in consideration for the person behind me. On an 11 hour flight, this is a big deal."

Ulemper: "Only reason I chose Lufthansa was that I was informed that 23kg of checked in luggage was included. It was NOT. I don't care whose fault it is. Lufthansa still says that this is included on their website. I demand reimbursement."

Fordeler: "Our flight from BLR to FRA got cancelled because of bad weather. The agent at the check in desk immediately put us on an alternate AIr France flight via CDG to LAX, which left an hour before our FRA flight. The service on the flight was excellent. But we are most thankful for the quick re-booking on a different alternative, ensuring no hiccup. We will only be flying Lufthansa from now on, and recommending Lufthansa to all friends and colleagues."

Having not known this at all, I had no ride home, super inconvenienced and I was 2 hours plus away from my home in Jersey. Horrible experience"

Ulemper: "We couldn't check in for the next flight when we departed from Oslo. Disappointed we had to wait until arriving in Frankfurt. Something about not being partner airlines."
Fordeler: "On a flight from Oslo to Germany to Charlotte, we only had 55 minutes to connect in Germany. Lufthansa held our plane due to their error in some runway and docking issues and we, as well as 25 other were escorted to our connection by Lufthansa staff. Excellent customer service even though it was their fault. They just did the right thing and did it well."
Ulemper: "I would have expected that there be much more time for gate connections. If you have ever been in the Munich airport, it is very large and navigation takes time.."
Fordeler: "Our flight from Frankfort to Munich was late. Luftansa sent a representative to our flight to make sure we and others from our flight got on to the flight to Charlotte. How awesome! Plane needs more leg room."

Fordeler: "After so many domestic flights of being shuffled around and interacting with flight attendants that seem to not like their jobs much and passenger's are just an annoyance, flying abroad on Luftansa was quite a different experience! The flight attendants were polished, professional, and actually wanted to provide a service. Their interactions made me feel like I was cared about and that they wanted my unique needs to be met. This made a 10 hour flight an enjoyable experience which I certainly didn't anticipate."

Ulemper: "Maten var under enhver kritikk. Helt ihjelkokt i microen. Det som skulle være broccoli var blitt en grønngul gugge. Gulrøtter uten substans, og til slutt mørt kjøtt. Men alt for salt. Åja, glemte fløtepotetene. De var så mye varmet at den var brun og tørr helt igjennom."

Ulemper: "same point !We booked a trip from Stockholm to NY. Got to the airport and the baggage fee was quite high, but i was ok paying it since i didn't prepay online- my mistake. BUT then i was told since the plane was stopping at Oslo we had to pay ANOTHER SET OF LUGGAGE FEES !!!! I said, no you must be mistaken, there is no way you can charge me for two trips just because your plane is making a stop! They insisted and rather than fight and get thrown out of the airport i am disputing with my credit card company, but it can't possibly be legal. $690.00 fees !"
Ulemper: "They lost our bags in the transfer and did not even offer water on the flight!"
Ulemper: "I was in seat 33F. My husband & I were sitting together, boarded together, yet we were sent down different isles of the plane to board even though we asked to go the same direction. This made us arrive at our seats at different times & made stowing our luggage above rushed, awkward and harder to do. Not a good start considering we are both in our mid 60's. This may have been due to the crew being overwhelmed due to circumstances caused by the airport making us all late in boarding the plane all at once. Also, it was a late flight & there was constant noise from the galley making it hard to try to get any sleep. We were very happy that the crew got along so well but some of the conversations could have been at lower decibles."
Fordeler: "Food was actually provided with our ticket... not just ONE meal, but also a snack for before the arrival and the meals tasted good! Also, Oslo is a new and beautiful airport with great options for meals and stores to wander around. Also, the airplane had huge windows to look out of with new dimmer technology as opposed to just a shade. Very cool! With a couple of small downsides, we would STILL definitely fly Norwegian."
Ulemper: "We gate checked a stroller but were unable to pick it up to use in Oslo which was a surprise as it went straight through from gate check to full check in through the layover... with a 3hr 45min layover, it could have been useful to have it for our infant to sleep. Leg room is tight. Small selection of new movies for entertainment when compared to other airlines and it would have been nice to know we could get complimentary drinks anytime during the flight, but they were only available for free during meal service unless you purchased additionally."

Their in flight menu prices are much affordable compared to most European airports (water is cheaper on the flight, compared to Berlin airport for example) For these prices, and this quality, they are uncompeted. I really hope they can maintain these cheap prices all the time."

Additionally, when I checked in, I asked for a window seat, the agent nodded, and when I got on the plane I found I was stuck in a middle seat. It was the longest two hours of my life."

Ulemper: "Oh, boy. First, this flight was super late and they wouldn't admit it. I went to the gate at boarding time, and the staff rudely pushed me away, saying I misunderstood the gate number. I double checked, and no, that was indeed the right gate. This lasted until the airport announced the final boarding call for my flight, and people started lining up.Then the staff had to admit that this was the right gate and the plane was just late. We didn't start boarding until way after the announced time (which they didn't bother to update on the screen until it passed. Extraordinarily disorganized. Second, the flight crew was loud and kept the lights turned way up on an overnight flight. Everyone around me was trying to sleep, and they were woken up by the crew yelling "DO YOU WANT COFFEE?" 5 rows away. Even when they finally dimmed the lights 3 hours into the flight, they kept the Tv's on, so the flashing advertisements prevented me from sleeping restfully. Third, you have to pay for coffee and tea. Who does this? They also begin their flight with loud, obnoxious music that jolts everyone awake (see above for this being an overnight flight). Overall, only choose this airline if you're okay with being kept forcibly awake and you don't mind the flight being late. Oh, and you have 2 euros to pay for simple tea."
