Fordeler: "This review is for return travel from ATL to MAA (Chennai, India) and back. Route: ATL-DOH: about 14.5 hrs; DOH-MAA: about 4.5 hrs; Likes: 1. Baggage check-in process was simple and easy. 2. Meal preferences was good - I'm a vegetarian and on the onward journey forgot to specify the meal preference but the crew had enough inventory to meat the requirements. 3. Every seat was provided with a small plastic pouch/packet/goodie bag that consisted of a eye mask (very thoughtful), pair of sock, toothpaste+brush (very thoughtful), hand cream. This was very useful and effective. 4. Entertainment - options were good and current."
Ulemper: "Dislikes: 1. Online check-in wasnt easy; towards the end of the process, there is an option to email the boarding pass but this never worked. Not sure if this is something to do with the browser (tried with Firefox, Opera) 2. It would have been good, as part of the online check-in, if the users reminded to specify the meal preferences, etc. I forgot to specify the meal preferences but thankfully the crew had enough of what I wanted. 3. Take a relook at the packaging of the toothpaste tube in the goodie bag. It was sealed in such a way that it was difficult to open it w/o a sharp object. This should have been easier. 4. Seats were the worst part - poor legroom. Worst, the seat cushion is the worst. I think it was just a fabric over a metal seat with minimalist of cushion. ATL to DOH leg was the worst (and the longest leg of the trip). Unless you have open seats next to you it would be a back breaking and painful trip. Seat comfort wise, I would rate Qatar as the worst. Luckily on the return leg (DOH-ATL) next two seats to mine was empty, so was able to stretch and sleep well. DOH-MAA or MAA-DOH seating was little better (think its a older plane; newer planes have worst seats) 5. The website was damn slow while accessing from overseas. Even in the US, at times the website hangs-up, freezes or spins often. 6. Food was ok -dinner and lunch but minimalistic; I didnt see any specific breakfast menu or any coffee served separately (was part of beverage option during lunch or dinner) 7. There was no alert, communication, notification, reminder of upcoming trip via email or text, etc. Many airlines does this very often but Qatar was totally silent on it (they did have my email during checkin). Not sure why."

Fordeler: "We departed late and therefore missed the connection. The staff met me and made arrangement for hotel accommodations till the next available flight. No haggling was necessary. staff on ground and in air sought to be helpful. Price of ticket was very affordable. Seating comfortable."
Ulemper: "Comparing to Emirates airlines...Movie choices were very limited. Only 2 new movies available. Food was poor at best. This was my second trip with Qatar. First trip...my iPad was stolen from baggage. Airline have had no solution. I prefer Emirates."
Fordeler: "This flight had one of the best selections of movies I've seen on a flight.....a damn good thing given the 15-hr duration of the flight. I had so many screaming babies around me that the flight attendants helped me to move to another part of the plane. They were incredibly sympathetic and accommodating. Airlines from the USA could learn a thing or two from Qatar Airlines."

Fordeler: "I like that the air stewards bring you water and drinks throughout and don't judge you for being too thirsty. I like that they respect that it is a night flight and serve the meal quickly so it can be dark for the whole flight and you can sleep as much as you can. I like how efficient the layover is in Doha - only 40mins!"
Ulemper: "I don't like when they don't ask the person in front to move their chair up for the meal and the passengers have to ask each other. I don't like that they can't tell you the gate of your connecting flight and how long it will take to get you there - including if you will need to take a bus and the train. I think this could reduce a lot of anxiety. If they could do this, it would also be helpful to let people who have a connecting flight that is boarding in the next 30 mins off the plane first. This would save pushing and shoving in the aisles... and would also reduce anxiety about booking a flight with such a short layover."

I can understand that Doha is their hub, but such a flights would be really good for me as I always want to reduce my layovers. (I noticed that most travelers in my Delhi to Doha and Doha to Chicago flights were Indians, hence my request makes sense.)"

I was sandwiched between two other travelers on a three-seater arrangement. Again, is it just on flights to Kenya or other African countries that passengers DO NOT receive the travel pouch?"
Fordeler: "Inflight entertainment was good but that doesn’t make up for lack of equal treatment of all passengers"
Ulemper: "They are racist!!!!! Segregation and all!!!!! For my more than 12 hours layover I had to pay for my own hotel!!! Yet other travelers were given free hotel vouchers. As a matter of fact I was kept waiting for nearly half an hour in the middle of the night even though I had been waiting for service ahead of them."

Since the airlines only gave us a 2 hour layover knowing we would have to go through immigration and retrieve our luggage and recheck it, we missed our connection, then the airline tried to make us wait another 18 hours for a flight. We had been already traveling for two days. Airline offered no expedited support to get off the plane first or help through immigration, completely unacceptable!"
Ulemper: "The airline’s insistence on keeping a passenger limited to only one carry on bag and then weighing to make sure that each carry on item was only 7 kilos was just plain ridiculous."

Ulemper: "I had 2.5 hours to get from terminal 5 to 4, check in and get to gate. I almost didn't make it. The lines at emirates check in were insane and didn't move for a long time (online checknin was unavailable). TSA at JFK also. Easy slow and my TSA precheck didn't appear for my pass."
Fordeler: "Emirates is my carrier of choice, and that's due to their continued service standards, friendliness and rates. This flight was pretty empty so service was even better and I was able to spread myself out. Also, well done to the crew. They continue to maintain high standards."
Ulemper: "This is the first time it's happened to me, but I was scheduled to leave Oslo on Wednesday, but Emirates cancelled my flight and put me on the next one. It would have been alright had they offered some sort of compensation or made it up to me in one way or another, but that was not going to happen. They cancelled and the cost was on me (as per the T's & C's I was told) and that was pretty much that. Here's a hint, it seems like their Scandinavian flights are underperforming and in a cost saving effort, they're randomly cancelling flights. I subsequently found out they did it to someone else in the area causing them to miss two days of a pre-booked vacation. So, if they cancel, it's going to cost you a lot more in a city like Oslo to wait a day - not to mention the costs involved in missing work or vacation, so maybe shop around then. I still like Emirates, but I'm feeling a little burnt after this episode."
Fordeler: "The great content in the entertainment system and the wifi. Bed was comfortable and the service was fantastic. I also really enjoyed the bar in the upper deck. The A380 is a wonderful machine!"

Lufthansa is normally amazing quality but both flights today were subpar. Bathroom smelled of urine, old and dirty seats with no support. Dirty hand rests and outdated screens which skipped with movies"

People in front of us were rude and kept their seats back the entire flight, even after we nicely asked them to not have the seats back so far. Would prefer that seats did not move at all. I would never recline my seat in consideration for the person behind me. On an 11 hour flight, this is a big deal."

Ulemper: "The flight left with a slight delay. As I boarded, I was issued a new seat in the middle, as opposed to the window seat I had selected. There was zero explanation for this change. When I approached the flight attendants about it, with a smile on my end, I was offered the equivalent of a shrug. As I gave up, I was also informed there was no more room in the overhead bins, so not only did I end up sitting in the middle (which I loathe), but also with my carry-on under my feet. I’ve always been a fan of Lufthansa, but I’m a little disappointed this time around."

Fordeler: "Service for economy class was what you would expect from other airlines in business class. Lufthansa has the best service of any airline I have ever flown with."

Ulemper: "Clearing passport control in Frankfurt is very slow. The setup is not very good for a world class airport. You need to give yourself at least an hour."
Fordeler: "I liked the food and courteous staff. Our flight was on time in order to connect to our next flight. They assisted us to our waiting wee Lchairs."

Ulemper: "Booked way in advanced, paid extra to book upper deck on both; outgoing flight Miami - Frankfurt and return, but was bumped out of our seats. Spent 2 hours on the phone trying to book them again, and ended up on a lower deck on the Miami - Frankfurt flight, but re-booked on the upper deck on Frankfurt- Miami flight although not the side seats as I originally booked myself, but in the middle section. The entertainment's touch screen system is inadequate, not reacting to touch efficiently."

Ulemper: "Boarding mix up, which was completely Lufthansa's responsibility, delayed my flight to Istanbul for one hour which caused my missing my connection with another airline. This in turn cost me the original flight and a new ticket purchase of at an exorbent price."

Ulemper: "the second leg from FRA to BUD entailed a massively disorganized, no queue control free for all to go through the boarding gates, all of which just led to an overcrowded bus.... which meandered through the airport to your jet on the tarmac.. they then allowed boarding from either rear or front of plane which of course lead to the throngs meeting in the middle and trying to squeeze past each other... horrible. Then... the checked bag did not make it to Budapest as they forgot to transfer it in FRA. so, yeah all in all it was a cheap flight and we got what we paid for."

Ulemper: "Newark is not my preferred airport. We had to leave secure area between flights. Upon reentry, security stations were undermanned and wait times were long."
Fordeler: "On a flight from Oslo to Germany to Charlotte, we only had 55 minutes to connect in Germany. Lufthansa held our plane due to their error in some runway and docking issues and we, as well as 25 other were escorted to our connection by Lufthansa staff. Excellent customer service even though it was their fault. They just did the right thing and did it well."
Ulemper: "I would have expected that there be much more time for gate connections. If you have ever been in the Munich airport, it is very large and navigation takes time.."
Fordeler: "Our flight from Frankfort to Munich was late. Luftansa sent a representative to our flight to make sure we and others from our flight got on to the flight to Charlotte. How awesome! Plane needs more leg room."

Fordeler: "After so many domestic flights of being shuffled around and interacting with flight attendants that seem to not like their jobs much and passenger's are just an annoyance, flying abroad on Luftansa was quite a different experience! The flight attendants were polished, professional, and actually wanted to provide a service. Their interactions made me feel like I was cared about and that they wanted my unique needs to be met. This made a 10 hour flight an enjoyable experience which I certainly didn't anticipate."

Ulemper: "Besides the seat relative comfort, it did not recline much at all, i wondered what the extra money (at least $5 or $600) got us. The food, wine/ beer service was same as regular economy, the boarding took place at same time as economy, no drink before take-off if only sparkling water. And the plane was old generation 747 and the entertainment was same vintage: screen was not very bright and the selection of films was poor. No plug to charge electronics. We were disappointed with KLM when comparing with other airline companies offerings when you book in Premium Economy."

I had to wait for a small plane coming from Edinburgh then wait for it to be emptied of passengers and cleaned. This meant we were over 2 hours late into Istanbul. No explanation or apology. I then missed my next flight in Istanbul and had to purchase another ticket. I cannot believe that air passengers are treated in this way!!! I will follow this up with KLM when I go home from my holiday."

The flight has a 32 hour layover and KLM lost my luggage and it was not found until a week after my arrival back home. I still have not received my bag at this time. The boarding crew was manually tracking who boarded and who didn't. It was a cluster."
