Liked the size of room and big tv. Everything was great. There really wasn't anything we didnt like.
It had beautiful architecture; beautiful rooms; great service; excellent food; beautiful pool; excellent food. No
nice people. comfortable service .
Nice hotel with good amenities on the main street. Good service from concierge. No detailed invoice at check out.
The staff is very polite and always with a great smail, very well trained to serve and make you welcome all the time!! Congratulations! I felt like home!
Location, 4 blocks away from Zocalo. Hotel stay started (very) well, but after a while you scratch the surface and begin to notice things that are not appealing.Management of room payments is not efficient. This causes services like laundry taken in charge and then not carried out (because they think you have not paid for the room when you have), no notification (which would immediately solve the issue) given. Swimming pool (not tested) seemed a little murky (though people were bathing with no signs of problems). Lift path invaded by WC waters and only taken care after one night (in the meantime, curious spring-like sounds in the lift... quite dangerous in my opinion). Not a complaint (already spoken out in person), just a report of general mismanagement and poor attention.
Really excellent, kind, happy and comitted staff. The staff were absolutely amazing, spoke good english and were very welcoming and friendly in a genuine way which really made my stay at this hotel very enjoyable. The restaurant served excellent food at very good prices with very good service. The room was clean and the housekeeping staff were very good too. For the rate paid, i liked this hotel. Excellent WiFi free in the rooms. The rooms were comfortable, but a little bit old looking in places.
I enjoyed the location, the staff very friendly and the proximity to all the plazas, and stores.
Great staff! The open-air bar was a joy! The bit about a fitness center is a lie. THERE IS NO FITNESS CENTER AT HOTEL MARIA DEL CARMEN. I was shown the sixth-floor room where the fitness center once was. That room is now completely filled with old beds and mattresses...plus two ratty, broken exercise machines.
Staff was helpful. Close to the middle of town. Bus stop right outside the door. Very quiet rooms. Beds were comfortable. Surprisingly quiet given the noise outside. No venders allowed in the hotel. Pool area very beautiful and relaxing. Shower nice. Restaurant very good. Breakfast was surprisingly nice. It wasn't like Marriott or Hilton's bar breakfast. It was free breakfast off the regular menu. Mexicans love to feed their guests. Rooms weres huge and very charming. The bathroom ceiling was full of mold. Walking into the warm room was gross. A double room meant two double beds. Way too small. Asked to change rooms and was given a king size and double. Two queens easily could fit in this enormous room. Bedding old. 4 people staying in the room, two small waters given each day. Not enough potable water. Wifi temperamental but sufficient. Pool too cold to swim in.
Very nice, large, comfortable rooms, centrally located to the historic center of town. Staff was helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, I stayed during renovation to the outside pool, which was not usable.
Bad High-Speed Internet, room was extremely humid, beds were not comfortable at all! It was not the best experience.
Great Experience the hotel is beautiful, the food is good it has the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a great time in Merida.
Visited Merida and stayed at the Inter-Continental, Villa Mercedes. Experience was great! Hotel located in center of town near everything. Staff was outstanding accomodating every request. Room was very confortable and everything met or exceeded expectations. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to see something other than beaches.
A gem! Located about 10 blocks from the Grand Plaza in a cluster of other hotels to include Hyatt, Holiday Inn and Americana. The building was once an old hacienda completly gutted and transformed to a delux property with most congenial stall ready to serve, plus excellent dinning, gift shop, lounge, and pool. The magnificant room with marbel floor, large bathroom and central air conditioning, large-screen TV. A gem.
The hotel maintains a colonial and historical atmosphere with newer amenities.
This is my first trip to Merida in a few years, I was used to the semi-tired hotels in the city, I tried the Intercontinental and was blown away by the service, huge rooms and free wireless internet everywhere including rooms. A must go hotel when in the area.
The best thing about El Caribe is its location. We have been staying there for 20 years, and there is some improvement this year. The A/C is better and the bathrooms are better. When you pay little money for a room you shouldn't expect the Marriott or a similar hotel. I think there should be a lamp on the bedside table. I know there is back lighting, but a lamp would be nice. I also think some drawers would be helpful to be able to store your clothes and not have to leave them in your suitcase.
If you're looking for a clean base to rest your head at night, this is it. No frills- you get a bed and a bathroom. Staff are nice and helpful, food is good, bed was always made, and excellent location. Noisy at times. Thin walls.
Friendly staff The fare from Booking.com was more expensive than the walk on fare. The room had a very strong sewage smell. Old, dirty and smelly.
The bathroom is clean and big and has a great bath tube. Breakfast great. The hamaca in the room, very quiet, staff very frendly. No
The hotel and owners couldn't have been nicer. Our room was always clean and quiet with all the comforts of home, and then some (like a hammock). It rained most of our trip and they were kind enough to lend us umbrellas to take with us. The walk to the center of downtown was a little longer than I'd anticipated, but still very doable, if that's even a criticism.
The grounds, the bathrooms, the beds, the service, the pools, the gardens, the food. The pet-friendly policy! There was nothing outright negative about our stay. It was delightful. The rooms could feature some more art and the beds could include a heavier comforter/bedspread since the A/C is necessary and gets the room very cold. Despite that, the bedding was great and we slept really well.
Everything A little far away from the historical part of the city, but the good thing is that the hotel is a quiet place to rest from a day trip or from the noisy streets. Would need a car during the summer at least.
staff very friendly, wonderful hotel nothing
Large rooms, good air conditioner, lovely inner courtyard and clean small pool and fountain, delicious breakfasts. Gardener and courtyard maintenance person was smoking cigarettes early in the morning and the smell and smoke wafted into our room via the air conditioner/draft. Very irritating to my throat.
Free private parking. Small but beautifully located swimming (sitting) pool on the patio. Rooms are spacious with free wireless internet. Good basis to visit Merida city (15 minutes walk) and various interesting sites in the neighbourhood. Breakfast is modest, although fresh juice and fruit every day.
Very nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff (some were English speaking). The ambiance is really colonial. Small swimming pool but large enough to take a cool swim after a hot day in crowded Merida. The rooms have very nice bathrooms. Parking is next to hotel and is free. About a 15 - 30 minute walk to the centre of Merida. Breakfast is ok, mainly corn flakes with a donut (or something similar). We ordered extra eggs for a low additional price (so pay on location a little bit extra (2 to 3 usd P.P.) and you have a perfect breakfast).
sitting on the balacoy and watching Merida city life going by and the city lights ice and wash cloth
location, close to Zocalo Rooms are not clean and very noisy. We stayed at a room facing the yard first and could hear machine noise. Then we changed to a room facing the street, the cars were extremely noisy. On the website, they claimed they provided continental breakfast, but actually there were only disgusting coffee and some bread in a plastic box in the hotel's yard.
The carachter of the interior decor, the helpfulness and kindness of the owners, the location.
Despite its convenient central location, Hotel Medio Mundo is a quiet oasis in busy Merida. The staff was very kind and helpful, and the room was just what we expected--simple & beautiful. We loved the hand-painted sink. Breakfast was fresh & delicious. Washcloths are not provided by the hotel. Next time, we will bring our own.
It's a beautifully restored colonial building with the loveliest color scheme throughout. Once you walk in the deep blue building through the antique red painted doors, a new world of comfortable experience opens up. I like everything.
