Very nice hotel and very friendly staff. Great Location, excellent SPA. Highly recommend it. I heard that If you add your tip to the bill, the hotel do not give it entirely to the staff.
The rooms were very clean and the staff was very helpful and accommodating to us. They went out of their way to ensure our short time there was enjoyable. The location was fantastic and within walking distance to many things we wanted to see and do.
the way they welcome their guest is awesome. I really enjoyed the dignity given to the clients.
Well located and staffed hotel/residence with fine decor. Breakfast is not up to 5 star expectations. Used towels disappeared quickly without being replenished.
Pool deck, 1800º Restaurant, Hotel Staff, Hotel Facilities, Parking lot, Good Location Bed Size, Living room Window without shades
A very luxurious feel -a little over the top even w door man, front desk walkin you to your room... Full apartment, lots of room to spread out, large bedroom, nice bathroom, 2-3 blocks of nice places to eat and shop right next door, but not real close to attractions No black out curtains on living room/hall windows and no door in the bedroom prevents you from getting it dark in bedroom to go to sleep- brin an eye mask
After a week on safari and in some bed and breakfasts in Stellenbosch, my wife and I very much enjoyed our two-night stay at Cape Royale. It was indeed luxurious. The whole hotel, including the rooms were very clean. The staff was extremely professional, efficient and friendly. The parking was good, safe and reasonably priced. The location was also good. We didn't make use of the hotels facilities, but we enjoyed our stay very much. Our only small gripe was there were no towels and no napkins in the kitchen. A roll of paper towels at least would have been nice.
The size of the rooms, excellent design details of the hotel, the butler service and the complimentary shuttle service to the waterfront. Inconsistent housekeeping services
Everything was excellent. The staff couldnt do enough to help make our stay exceptional down to the duty manager spending over an hour getting my laptop up and running. To be able to have a car and driver to take us around free was an absolute bonus. The little bit extra that we paid for this hotel was easily compensated by the savings we made in not having to use taxis. Nothing
Amazing hotel with prompt and courteous service. The staff were great and the hotel was terrific. Minor draw back was that you need to take a cab to most places but can easily walk if you have 15 minutes to get there.
staff were super supportive. very good location and close to Waterfront Security reaction toward the incident of theft I had in the hotel House keeping is not up to 5 star level, we had to request soap and shampoo although they had cleaned the room just hours before our request.
good proffesional service. rooms are spaceous. location is excellent. the rooms are fully equiped with everything you need and are well maintained.
Breakfast buffet and view
lovely room & service no real water view at Dock House-dining room small with no view. However, breakfast at main hotel wonderful - view, service & cuisine. Sorry we took the upgrade. rather stayed at V & A with waterfront view.
Good location rather expensive for the type of room and hotel
On the whole very good with one or two small reservations Hefty charge for late check out even though the room was not to be immediately occupied
location, location, location.....Excellent Staff!....Great Value!!
Location and spacious room. the hotel need renovation. The staff does not respect the guest. They made me wait at reception to go verify if I stole in the room.
The location of this hotel is incredible, right in the centre of the bustling Cape Town waterfront....you walk out of the front door and you are where you need to be. Very upmarket and classy!
The hotel was fabulous. The location and facilities were outstanding. The breakfast was wonderful. Most of all the staff was phenomenal. They were consistently courteous, friendly, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make our stay absolutely phenomenal.
The service, the food, the gym and the pool were all very nice. The rooms were comfortable with great views.
Great hotel, Great rooms, Exceptional breakfast We had a "bad" luck, since our room shared a wall with a famous Jazz club Green Dolphin. We enjoyed the fine music from 8-11 in the night. (there are maybe 3 rooms in the whole hotel affected). One night we also went there. Nice club.
Location Bed was hard
only the location too expensive for such one
Everything was excellent Nothing
The staff was welcoming, the room/apartment was fantastic (clean, spacious, good location) and it was convenient to restaurants, shopping, and taxis. We only spent one night at the apartment before we moved into a beach house in Clifton and then headed out on safari. I wished I would have booked it for my last 2 nights in Cape Town after returning from safari and before heading home.
Our apartment was on the lower level, so we could pop out and into The One & Only Hotel for dinner and right opposite the spa. We loved that we could walk to the V & A at night and feel totally safe and secure staying at the apartments. The staff went out of our way to collect us, as unfortunately we had a problem with our rental car. So thank you for fetching us!
We love the compound which is so beautiful and quiet. Especially it is very close to Waterfront with safe and short walking. The apartment is very well equipped and designed. With the good room conditions and location and reasonable rate, it is definately a place I will recommend. Super!
Excellent setting next to One and Only at V&A Waterfront. Upmarket furnishings. Spotless.
Hotel was fantastic ! My cc was billed twice as kayak or get a room.com says they received two reservations at the sand time from me! I only received one confirmation! I spend 30 min on the phone on my dime trying to get them to refund the second charge and it's still not done!
location room price was excessive
The staff was very helpful in arranging outings for us, very accommodating to all our needs. The food in the restaurant was wonderful and the service was top-notch. There wasn't anything I didn't like about the hotel. Would definitely book this hotel again.
The view is incredible and location. However very lacking for a 5 star hotel, service was terrible and slow, and the hotel looked very tired in places and dated. As a business traveller the room service menu was very limited. Very expensive for what you actually got. On a positive note did feel safe and secure. Yes service for a 5 star hotel was very poor, they did not get one of my orders right!
We felt very secure at this hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel was very close to city. For the price of the stay at this hotel we feel it was very overrated. The price was far too high. The room was nice but needed to be renovated or updated.
Willingness to assist in extraordinary requests. i got the impression the B team was on duty compared to my previous stays.
I could walk to the V&A waterfront or take the shuttle. As always the staff was wonderful. Safe location. Used Jarat for tours and pick-up which was a great choice. You can do cheaper but you get what you pay for. Would have liked it if you could have ordered food at the bar past 10:30pm.
Stunning location in on of the world's most beautiful cities. The cocktail deck is simply gorgeous. The views from the rooms, inlcuding a large balcony. Outstanding. Hotel is in an aging building, not quite up to scratch given the room cost. My plumbing groaned and shower flooded! Service is average, simply no edge. But, the location...!
Staff from the reception to the hotel operators are largely incompetent, at least the dozen or so we met. Especially the mid-level is a problem. The bottom level staff were fine, but from there up, it was a disaster! see above
Courteous, pleasant, helpfulFront Office and Guest Reataions. Excellent, knowledgable Concierge attention. Fantastic location on the Waterfront with stunning all-round views. Perfectly located for the World Cup Green Point Stadium. Houskeeping well-meaning but occasionally under-performing. Dining facilities lets them down: poor selection of dishes and rather indifferently prepared and amateurishly served. Lets them down.
View from terrace at breakfast / evening.
Happy, self assuared staff in all departments. Golf carts to move around hotel. Location of hotel. All good. Could do with better design barth.
What is there not to like? ha ha
The fact that we were upgraded to a suite. The friendliness, the personal attention and absolute luxury - we felt very special. A special place for our anniversary (our 2nd time and many to come). Meal at Reuben's fantastic. The attitude of "manager" (in charge of seating) at breakfast.
the fact that sex workers are alowed on the premises.
The hotel staff were very friendly, helpful and respectful. Shows excellent customer service apptitude. The tourist assistance staff were also especially efficient. Facilities like spa etc were at a different location, sister hotel - not very convenient. The swimming pool may do with some cleaning up.
Location was great. It was next to the Victoria mall and near transportation routes. Hotel was a bit run down. The rooms and bathrooms are in need of some refurbishment.
Convenience to the waterfront and safety (felt very comfortable walking around the area) The rooms are a bit dated but I understand refurbishment is being carried out.
Clean, excellent service, very polite helpful people ,very organized, excellent cuisine, very beautiful area, feeling of safety The swimming pool could be possibly renovated
The warmth and welcome of the hotel staff - efficient service - dining no matter what time of day - was carried out with care and courteously - staff approachable with warm smiling faces. No
The staff went out of their way to let us feel at home! The rooms are very small and the bathroom needs upgrading
The convience to every thing. The willingness of the staff to make our stay very comfortable That there was only Malay type food available at the Restaurant in the Evenings, meaning we had to go else where to eat .
Checking in and out was very swift. A really comfortable room with all the needed amenities. My room did not have hot water. In winter this could be a problem checked
outside noise level, some double glazing would be useful
nice boutique B & B
I felt from the beginning like at home, very nice and helpful people. The palce himself is at a great location nearby the waterfront. Great complimantary internet, delicious breakfast with a unexpected selection an meat, chees, bread and fruits. Egs any stile can be ordered and are included. I travel a lot but only raerly i feel like at home, here i did. Will be back for sure, maybe for holiday too. Next time i will ask martin if he can take me to a township tour :-). There was no guest book where i could leave my regards :-)....there is absolutly nothing to comlaine.....realy nothing
An excellent guest house newly renovated to a high standard, with quality furnishings & decor. Situated an ideal quiet location, within 10 mins of city water front & all its amenities and approx 20 mins to the excellent beaches of Clifton & Camps bay. A guest house with a difference with that extra friendly personal touch by the proprietors & staff, making your stay one to remember and return.
Tasteful & thoughtful decor, very comfortable rooms, charming hosts, good breakfast.
the owners are very helpful and friendly people and good knowledge on very good restaurants to visit.
Everything, verry friendly helpfull, just everything.
Nothing that stood out. Lack of facilities compared to other hotels in same price range. Very expensive. Staff very noisy when arriving at work early morning. Loud and laughing without consideration to guests. Room not made up as requested and was asked if we would mind sharing the same bed for the night. I was then charged for two persons for the entire stay when twin share was only one night.
Very friendly and comfortable. No
Very friendly and helpfull people, they have honest and joyfull attention for their guests. The guesthouse is beautiful and tastefull decorated with an eye for details. This is a perfect location to stay !
The owners of the guest house and stuff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are excellent.
The owners and staff were very friendly, professional and helpful. They went out of their way to provide proper service and amenities. Due to the location on a busy road, the ventilation was not ideal. the decor was notto our liking but we know it is to be changed.
For a fancy hotel, breakfast was shockingly scarce
At the center of everything.Very good staff , great design!!! A+++++
very nice and helpfull staff, beutifull design, luxurious room, good location. breakfast was nothing special, omlet, toast and cheese. I would axpect a more thrilling experience from a luxury hotel
the size of the hotel, the standard of the rooms and the facility in the room and hotel 1- The noise of the road. Although the windows were double glaze but there were gabs between the window doors and not properly sealed when locked 2- Break fast was good, but to make life easily and to speed up the service some of the food should have been on a buffet like bread toasting, tea, milk…..
The room was quiet and comfortable. Guests are not given a key to the front door, and after pressing the doorbell it sometimes took a while for someone to come and open it.
Design of rooms, overall decor, friendly and helpful staff, location close to Waterfront, secure parking, in-room facilities, bathrooms Noise from road and some machinery came through poorly fitting double glazing Pool could have been heated View has been blocked by development over the road
The staff were extremely friendly excellent location. Enjoyed very much used the spa treatement which were good value for money
The staff were wonderful and the rooms were beautiful. I especially liked breakfast, which was free, but absolutely delicious - freshly prepared - not a buffet. It's a bit close to the road, so there's a some traffic noise if you leave your window open.
I loved the set up of the hotel, it was clean and comfitable. The fittings and fixtures where very upmarket and the staff where very friendly. I will visit the hotel again.
Chic decor, good hearty breakfasts, comfortable beds and convenient location (15 mins walk to V & A waterfront and 20 mins walk to international convention centre). When showering, the shower screen is not long enough to stop the floor getting wet. There were also very brief (a few seconds) electricity cuts that reset the clock radio.
If you are looking for a place to relax in intimate atmosphere Villa Zest is the hotel for you. Villa has only a few rooms so there will be no crowds. What makes it a special place are multiple chill out areas, perfect for reading a book or enjoying a glass of wine. And the design of the place is just marvelous. One of the best hotels we have ever visited.
A fantastically intimate hotel in a great location which is run by a very friendly and helpful team.
Very stylish, modern hotel in a good location for a city trip. Relaxing setting and very modern garden/pool area. Not sure about the lack of the door on the toilet if there is more than one person in the room.
excellent personal service, staff made planning our trip easier & more enjoyable. we even had the managers personal mobile.
These people don't know it but they are Canadian. They are very friendly, engaging and willing do to what it takes to make your stay memorable. Were I to visit that area of the world again, I would plan my trip around Villa Zest availability. Highly recommended.
We had stayed in large hotels in Africa (mostly 5 star). Villa Zest was a pleasant surprise because of the small size, personal attention and friendly service. It was sophisticated without being formal. We hope to go back someday.
Michelle was excellent! Everything was very personal. My special needs regarding food were thought of and successfully met, and after we had already checked out I still received help with finding a doctor in Cape Town. All in all, an extremely lovely stay and we'll definitely stay at Villa Zest again.
Very friendly staff making excellent recommendations where to go, dine, etc. Excellent location withing walking distance from V&A Waterfront. Stylish accomodation with a personal touch. I would have designed the separation of the toilette al little bit differently.
We had a lovely garden room, which led straight out to the pool. The garden rooms are small but better than a cabin on a cruise ship. The other rooms look much larger. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The service, staff were excellent, we were treated like royalty. After booking a business class room, we were very disappointed at the small size of the room for the price we paid.
Location is an easy walk to the waterfront or the city center. Hotel staff very accommodating and helpful for first-time city visitors, especially the travel desk, who booked tours, restaurants, and transportation for us. Dining room serves a great buffet breakfast, and caters to the early riser as well as the late sleeper.
Attentive concierge/staff; location Check out at 10:00 a.m. is too early; breakfast sumptuous, however: poor taste/quality of cooked food. (awful) music background in dining room room service knocking and drilling work at 08:00 on a Sunday
staff were helpful, and very feiendly. 10 o'clock compulsory vacaion of rooms is definately at least 1 hour too early.
The location is very strategic to tourist area. Walking distance to Waterfront Air condition is closed to bed
Staff were amazing and Hotel was amazing. Cant talk highly enough of them.
I liked the friendly service as well as the delicious breakfast
Very nice but a little pricey. Excellent Staff, nice breakfast.
It has a fantastic location where you have easy access to the Waterfront, the staff is extremely warm and friendly and the room is comfortable.
Good location, wonderfully comfortable beds and especially pillows! Rooms a bit small given the price. Third floor windows opened widely enough for a person to fall through. Would not recommend to couple with young children
The owners and all the staff are very friendly and helpful people and interesting and fun to talk to. They always tried to help us arrange what we planned to do during our holidays. The hotel is very new, spotlessly clean, and the rooms and shared areas are in a comfortable and modern way equipped and decorated. The small garden with the heated pool is also very nice. The hotel is located in an area that feels very safe but it has a small gated parking lot so that renting a car is no problem at all.
A well kept hotel with staff who went out of the way to be helpful. Breakfasts are good and the property is quiet yet not far from a main road with some small shops and restaurants. A 20 minute walk to the V&A waterfront area.
Luxury secure hotel with friendly and helpful staff in a location convenient for all Cape Town attractions Minor points- an illuminated shaving /make up mirror and more towel rails would improve the otherwise superb bathroom.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, The hotel was well presented and our room was cleaned to a very high standard. We enjoyed our stay fealt that we got very good value for money.
The service is impeccable. The hotel design is beautiful. The room is cozy. The home-cooked breakfast is delicious. None
Very nice setting for the rooms facing the ocean, lots of sun and nice view. Great service offered, all the personnel is extremely helpful and nice. The neighbourhood is quiet and nice, there are shops and restaurants at walking distance.
The recommendations given by the staff and the home feeling that we experienced in the Hotel. Staff are extra friendly and very professional. The hotel is not too growded; therefore we felt very special indeed. Thanks once again to the The One 8 Hotel family for making our holiday an ejoyable one.
Nice design, quiet neighborhood yet close to eveerything
staff were very accommodating no
The superb personalized service. we don´t remember seeing this level of preocupation with guests. Staff highly commited to give guests the best experience possible. Rooms and premises of high quality. Localization very relaxing and yet near of major city atractions.Very good cost quality ratio. We would come back again and recommend to our friends
Cape Diem Lodge is in a perfect location for walking to the V and A waterfront and also downtown (less than a mile). It is a beautiful facility with very friendly staff. For the price we paid, I think cheese and crackers in the evening should have been free. We had to pay, and were not told this until check-out.
I liked the pleasentness and kindness of the staff. I liked the breakfast an I liked the quietness of the location. Very expensive for a guesthouse.
location, price, facilities, personal service
Breakfast, Nespresso machine in room, comfortable bed
Very Comfortable beds, good breakfast and very helpful staff. Problems with the air conditioning, thought it would be nearer the waterfront, a bit pricey for waht you are getting
Owner very helpful, regarding where to eat, where to visit.Very helpful re use of computer, allowing to stay by pool to flight time.very pleasant staff. Close proxiity to shops/restaurants etc Nice views, pool area. Nicely renovated property. The only problem was with the layout of the particular room.Very nice to look at and cleverly designed but not practical.Shower, toilet and bath on one level quite tightly packed and bed on a mezzanine level with low ceiling, unable to stand upright.also quite noisy, able to hear other guests walking about. Other rooms not so impractical apparently
nothing romm is small and bath is beside beds without barrier which is make smile of the hotels so badly.
Excellent accommodation and service from a sensitive and accomodating staff made this a wonderful stay in Cape Town. We were so impressed that after the 'Garden Route' we returned to Cape Diem for our last few days in the city.
The trainee manager was most helpful. The room was extremely large with excellent facilities Room we had was at front of building and was a bit noisy from the road outside and the nearby hotels during the night
Comfortable personal service
Great location, helpful and friendly staff. The room was very modern and pleasant. The pillows were real feathers! (This may seem strange to note, but is a big deal to a frequent business traveler.) I was able to easily print something that I needed from the business center. The breakfast included in the room was extensive and delicious. The room was cold, and it seemed that only air conditioning (not heat) was available. The internet is unstable, which made trying to work from the hotel room a challenge. There was literally a *single* outlet in my room. This meant that I couldn't properly charge my phone and laptop because of this limitation. The outlet is at the desk only, so I couldn't charge my phone overnight (as I need the alarm near me to wake up.)
The fact that we only booked for one night Position and size of room no 2225, plastic shower cutrain
The staff was wonderfully attentive. The location was perfect for our needs as tourists - it was just a long half block from the V&A waterfront and across the street from the aquarium and the main place for the hop-on hop-off buses (by the way, these were the best of similar ones we have done in other cities). The breakfast was ample and of high quality. It' history as a former maximum security prison made this more interesting than cookie-cutter hotels. The wi-fi was slow and a bit hard to connect to. We actually needed to go into the hallway to connect an iPad, but once connected, it worked in the room.
It location and rate are excellent, it is not hotel it is lodge like the Motel, it is inside the campus of the Cape Town University. The room is very old it was a jail in the past. It is suitable for single young person, just came for sleep only. The room is very small; it is not suitable for family especially if there are kids.
the water-front lack of competancy all round
Too noisy. The rooms are situated in university halls of residence accommodation. There appears to be no soundproofing between the room and the corridor. Large groups of students (albeit mature) were noisy. We were woken by doors banging in the middle of the night and people running down the corridors. We have never stayed in a hotel where it was possible to imagine that the people out in the corridor were holding a conversation in your room.
central location very basic but ok for one night
It looked like a university residence - no hotel feel to it.
Close to V&a Waterfront Not having a fridge in the room
Modern clean rooms. Safe area of the city. Across street from main office of City tour Busses. Victoria and Albert Pier is center of tourism. Archaic Wi-Fi system, requiring new username daily and with each log on. It does not remember you. Also, there is no CNN or BBC. Only SkyNews. OK if your British and want to keep up on parliament and London issues only.
It's a very good location, good wifi and a washer and dryer available to do laundry (great perk) Rooms are kinda small some rooms have shared bathrooms
Hotel is in a good location for the V & A Waterfront and has secure parking. The room was small and the bathroom very small with no place to put toiletries etc. Facilities were low qualitiy in comparison to the price. Not good value for money. I would not stay here again.
