Comfy bed. Great value Bathrooms could be nicer.
It has a great authentic retro look and the lobby and cafe (good food) were great places to hang out. Staff was friendly. The walls were thin and there was a noisy family in the room next door. However, the staff spoke to them and they quieted down so sleeping was not a problem.
Very unique and interesting hotel. The staff were friendly and our room was neat and clean. The hotel is located in a cool part of the city with plenty of nearby restaurants and bars. I would definitely stay here again! The attached restaurant near the lobby was over priced, in my opinion, and the service could have been a bit better. For example, the server knocked over my wife's coffee and made a mess on the table, but they never cleaned it up. We had to use our napkins to do it ourselves. Not a huge deal, but could have been better.
It was a nice place. They charged me a daily parking rate in addition to the other costs. This was an issue because I did not realize they were charging me.
The hotel was 15 minutes from a bunch of places, so it wasn't too bad as far as convenience. The description said free wifi, but wifi was only available in the lobby. We'd called for desk service and they were so slow to respond and bring what we requested to our room. The suite itself was mediocre at best, but at least it was clean. Really, really small bathrooms though and the windows were so awkwardly placed. If you opened the bathroom window, people passing by got a direct view of you on the toilet, so thats uncomfortable.
close to our daughters home
Had the old Hollywood feel and look. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. only neg. was the reception on the TV.
Friendly knowledgeable staff. Good location. Quiet and clean.
We LOVED our time at The Lafayette. It has such a cool vibe and the staff was so kind. We had our toddler with us and he had a great time in the pool and getting stickers from the front desk staff. We can't wait to go back! There are weddings and events on Saturday which was loud, but they stopped right at 10pm. It looked so fun! So we didn't mind.
I loved the huge bed and linens were nice. Staff was very friendly and the bar was cayuuuute! My room had dusty lampshades, and picture frames. The corners of the bathroom floor were dirty with debris and some hair from the previous guest.
I loved everything about this hotel. I felt like I stepped back in time the minute I walked in. The staff was super friendly and very attentive! If you're looking for a quiet place to crash for a business trip, this probably isn't the place for you. It's a pretty hip place so people in their 20's and 30's love it. And with that being said it's a party hotel. Which I thought was great but don't go in expecting to get any solid sleep.
Most of the staff was very friendly, and the decor was nice. The walls were paper thin and you could hear absolutely everything. Our first room was over the parking garage entrance, and would shake like a small earthquake each time the garage door would open. After requesting a change, we were put directly over the lounge, which pumped loud music into our (2nd story) room all night. The rooms were filthy, with mold growing in the bathroom, and years of filth piled anywhere the vacuum did not immediately reach. To top in all off, on our way out, my wife decided to take a few pictures of the pool. There was one person sitting by the pool (on the side opposite of us) obviously vaporizing nicotine, so the hotel staff decided to come yell at my wife and I, threatening us with fines for smoking. It was aggressive, rude, and forceful, when they had no idea as to the actual situation. I would NEVER stay here again.
The location was great! It was in the center of a lot of San Diego hotspots. My fiance and I were staying here for spring break to visit Sea World and Balboa Park; it only took us ~15 minutes to get to both places from here. For what we paid for and for just a one night stay, the room was sufficient. It was very clean, especially the bathroom; and it seems like they just revamped the place recently. The bed was quite comfortable. Other reviewers complained about the noise level since it's on a busy main street, but our room was facing the street, and we were able to still sleep well and spend the night without being bothered. Overall, an excellent place to stay and well worth the money. I would definitely stay here again next time we visit San Diego. Parking was difficult because there were only 6 spots first-come, first-park in front.
The price was great, the rooms were super clean, the shower had the best water pressure of all the places we stayed on our trip. The bed was comfortable and clean. The person who checked us in helped us find a place to park, was very polite and pleasant to work with. Overall, great experience. The only inconvenience we had was there is limited designated hotel parking available. That being said, we easily found parking on a safe street right around the corner, less than 500 feet away.
The rooms were clean. The fact that it was in the middle of everything was very convenient. There wasn't enough parking for everyone there. I had to park on the street both nights I was there. There wasn't an ice or vending machine of any kind.
Immaculate and Pefectly decorated. Free wifi. No ice and limited off street parking. But owner offered to help us find a spot if we had trouble. No microwave, or refrigerator but we knew that.
The room was was quite new and very clean. Bed was firm but supportive and sheets were upscale. Overall very comfortable room. There are only 6 parking spots for 18 rooms otherwise you have to park on the street. No ice machine, no pen or paper in room and no lamps on the end tables next to bed.
Appreciated the modern rooms. Very quiet and simple. Bathrooms were clean! No hairs found in the drains or corners. Absolutely no early check in. Even though house keeping is there at 9am, they will not give you a room till 2pm. There is no phone in the room. So you can't call to ask for anything. TV was very small.
