Wonderful location. Appreciate also the shuttle from the hotel to the center of the city.Best location to see the fire show .
Friendly staff. Pool is ideal for todlers
Tranquil and picturesque setting with good facilities Lack of kettle and tea / coffee in room
The purpose of our visit to the Quinta da Bela Vista was a break between Christmas & New Year & in particular to see the famous fireworks in Funchal on New Year's Eve. The 'gala dinner' & fireworks did not disappoint! All the staff, from reception to housekeeping, were extremely friendly. Well worth spending the extra money for a room with garden & 'ampitheatre' view. Excellent breakfast. The only comment I have is that although the half board menu was excellent, if we were to return to Quinta da Bela Vista, we would probably not choose this option, to allow more flexibility. For the ladies, the hairdryer provided in the bathroom is not great, but as soon as I requested an alternative, one was delivered to the room within minutes.
The friendliness and attentiveness of all the staff - nothing was too much trouble Having to pay, albeit a small charge, for the use of the tennis court
The absolute tranquility. Excellent buffet breakfast and extremely friendly and helpful staff. All in all a wonderful stay. Nothing at all.
Quality of food, especially in a la carte restaurant Helpfulness of staff Poolside bar (actually 200 years old)
Staff very friendly and helpful. Beautiful hotel and grounds which were very peaceful. Food in the restaurants was a bit too expensive, so we ate in Funchal old town most evenings.
Despite all the problems caused by recent flooding, the hotel was operating normally and we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful.
comfort, relax and silence in the center of the city.
Near to the centre but could be noisy. Hotel seemed efficient in administration, but lacked commitment to hospitality. Furnishing and decorof hotel distinctly tired.
The swimming pool area, which needs renovation has excellent views of Funchal and is amazingly peaceful considering how noisy the bedrooms are. We were kept awake most nights by the arguments going on in the street and in the apartment block opposite. One argument went on for at least 5 hours with shouting and slamming of doors. The beds had plastic sheeting on the mattresses which made them both noisy and sweaty. The breakfast 'buffet'was both limited and not very good quality. Some of the fruit was there all week slowly rotting. The phone in the lift had been mended with sellotape.
the staff was very nice and willing to answer questions the bed was truly orribile
This hotel was booked trough a friend. Very well located. Very friendly and helpfull english speaking staff . Made my stay much more easier thanks to their suggestions. The Hotel looks a bit dated but is clean. Simple and quiet room with nice bathroom. Good breakfast, again simple but complete.
Location of the hotel - it was really in the heart of the city. That hotel has not seen any renovation from establishing times - especially bathroom was awful! Staff (except one person) or didn't speak English or refused even simplest asks for help and support during the staying there.
Spa break A little disappointed that we weren't warned of building works at the nearby casino which was directly opposite our room. These were rather noisey and disrupted the peace and quiet we had headed to Madeira for.
The architecture is beautiful, the swimming pool and sunbathing area are extremely nice, the employees are extremely friendly etc.. Three minor points: 1. the cost of consumptions at the pool area is high (6 euro for a long drink). 2. the fact that you hear the noise of the upstair neighbours peeing in their toilet 3. The average age of the guests is high ! It looks like a retirement house (of course they can pay the price)
Very convenient to Funchal compared to most other top hotels. Alert and helpful reception and other staff. Infinity pool. Design features are interesting. Seating in breakfast restaurant looks good but is rather uncomfortable with poor back support.
service oriented staff rooms are a little small.
an amazing piece of architecture
Excellent hotel, very beautiful interior, perfect breakfast for various taste, large and comfortable rooms, warm hospitality of personnel
The localization near the city center (you can go by foot). The excellent piece of architecture by Niemeyer. The pools (inside and outside) and the Spa. Breakfast is absolutely complete. Prices of bar/restaurants are reasonable. Could have parking car facilities nearby free of charge.
The room was comfortable and nicely decorated, the smily and friendly staff, location is a bonus, the pool area is beautiful and the other facilities in good condition and easy access. Amazing views and well looked after gardens. Internet Access prices - it's a 5 star hotel, sure they don't need to make a business also from something that in these days is so easy and cheap to get and free in most other hotels in Madeira. Not enough plugs in the room are in very difficult places.
It is nice budget accomodation in location nearby city of funchal. Stuff is excellent, very helpful.Breakfast should be better and hotel needs renovation in near future, although is clean. Taxi to city centre is 5 E, they are many of buses near.Hotel has swimming pool which is very good. Beach is very far from hotel. Breakfast should be better, more choices... Hotel needs renovation.
Impossible to sleep which is the minimum you can ask in a hotel: the rooms were too hot (no AC) and there were too much noise outside (parking) and inside the hotel which is poorly insulated (always nice to know when someone is flushing).
lovely fascilities, fantastic balcony to the room, very relaxing, friendly staff, absolutely gorgeous resturant! lack of air conditioning but then it was not really required
Hotel with many many services: pool, gym, jacuzzi, tennis court, indoor pool, snack bar, restaurant, games. Amazing views of funchal from the room's terrace. Millions of restaurants, supermarkets and shops close to the hotel. There is a free bus service to the center of Funchal for clients Poor breakfast and low quality. The hotel is located up in a very steep slope, and the way back to the hotel from the beach is very tiring :)) They charge some money to play games (billiard, tennis table)
A beautiful site with garden and pool areas, quiet and comfortable, nice views to Funchal hills. Very friendly staff, nice pool and snack bars, tasty and big breakfast buffet. Clean, cosy rooms with large bed, nice balkony. I liked the location very much, not in the crowded city center, but close enough to walk or take a bus. Taxis are also really cheap! Pricy restaurant, breakfast buffet a bit crowded.
relaxed atmosphere, good position, beautiful gardens & layout
The initial very warm welcome. Friendly helpful staff - reception/dining room/cleaners. The room had good kitchen facilities - kettle/fridge/hotplate/crockery/cutlery/ pans I felt safe especially as I was travelling alone on this occasion
Friendly staff and excellent location
Late Cleaning of rooms sometime not untill 3.45p.m.
The luxury and the beautiful garden. The winter garden. Breakfast in the sun. The pool./ Choice of restaurants.
When we arrived we were taken into the sister hotel Miramar as the Village was undergoing eco friendly alterations. These two hotels were situated on the same site but with separate entrances. We found the Miramar slightly old worldie with antiques scattered over the building and the decore was also of times gone by. The atmosphere was serene and peaceful. The food was good with extensive selection self-service breakfast with a delightful arrangement of small rooms, nooks and cranies within a larger room. This became an intimate candlelit dining area with waiter service in the evening. It had a staircase leading to a bar serving an interesting selection of cocktails. The staff could not have been more friendly and attentive. I was sad we were not able to see the rooms but we were able to walk around the grounds of the Village which were the most attractive and peaceful gardens I have even seen in any hotel. There were many flowers and and shrubs in bloom even in November - better than the Botanical Gardens - so ideal for nature lovers. but the area is very hilly and not within walking distance of Funchal centre -especially for oldies! And there is no courtesy bus offered.
Overall a very good experience. Hotel won several prizes with the garden which is truly amazing - nice pool and facilities. Bus stop right outside. Not too far from city centre in walking distance. Shops nearby for basic purchases. Rooms equipped with small kitchen. Pleasant view. Evening live music was eventually disturbing (near the pool) as it was almost daily and lasted till about midnight. For persons need an earlier rest could be a problem. Closing the window wasn't enough
A very nice hotel, in a beautiful, quiet location. The staff were very friendly and accommodating The 'courtesy bus' to town was very infrequent, and did not run on Sundays. Dinner in the hotel was disappointing, and the service slow.
A lovely location in the hills above Funchal. The restaurant served good quality food for all meals. The hotel really needs an overhaul. There were two mouldy patches on the ceiling in our room, the extractor fan did not appear to work, and we were without a bath plug for our five-night stay, despite reporting the problem early on. Not really five-star provision.
Everything...The room was fabulous, big, confortable. It´s the state of the art. Very modern. On the first night there were some noises caused by the electrical system, but they upgrade us to a suite and only charge half for the first night. We love it and recomend it. Nothing.
The visual excitment that awaits you at this amazing Designer Hotel in the heart of Funchal is only surpassed by the Excellent Managment and very attentive Staff - having stayed at other 5 star hotels in Maderia The Vine is definitly our favourite.
Perfect positon in funchal for site seeing, restaurants and shops never needed a taxi
superb design, heated roof pool, air conditioning not very effective
location, breakfast, service, beautiful and stylish, nice city view stylish sometimes at the expense of practicalness (e.g. door handles and shower gel tube created to break your nails)
The Chef Restaurant very good - good central position - useful having a fridge in the room Implied parking - we did a filter on this when booking as we were going to hire a car, but this was only in public streets if you could find a gap - breakfast area rather cramped and hot -
We had an excellent stay at the Golden Residence. The hotel and rooms are in very good condition, the staff is very nice and helpful (especially Hermes :-) ). The location is very good, near the seaside and the promenade on one side and next to the big street (Estrada Monumental) on the other side, with a very nice shopping on walking distance. The food of the restaurant is very good and we had a small but well equiped kitchen in our room. The indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna were well maintained and offered a nice break on cloudy days.
breafast some days very very windy the outside the swiming pool could not be used a kind of a wind protection would for sure help.
Right next to Poces do Gomes
The position of the hotel and the room the view was fantastic and the food was very good none
View was nice, so was pool and breakfast. Really was the best choice for us. Easy on/off from #1 and #2 bus and the aerobus to airport (stop 18). Room has fridge and little kitchen. Staff was not the friendliest on check in and tried to "give an upgrade" to a bigger room with no view when we paid extra for a room with a view. Had to wait until almost 3 pm to get into room.
The receptionist Debora is absolutely fantastic. She has answers on every single question regarding hotel/ Madeira/ Porto Santo everything was perfect
We particularly liked the possibility to use Savoy hotel's sauna, pool and fittness center
Unable to change the reservation from 2 people to 1 person due 1 person unable to attend. I had to pay for 2 people, though went alone.
The hotel was beautiful, bright and airy, with a lovely atmosphere. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast each morning, there was such a wide choice. Our evening meals were also very good. The cake made for my father's birthday was delicious. It was a very enjoyable experience. Thank you.
Excellent hotel catering for adults wanting to be pampered and relax in their top quality facilties. Staff extremely customer friendly; they are like a family and make guests feel part of that. Honestly can't think of any.
Lovely staff. Friendly & helpful. Beautiful hotel & garden & new pools are great. No
Fantastic hotel. Big, beautiful rooms. Close to center of Funchal. Very friendly staff. The morning coffee is unbelievably bad.
The hotel staff was especially courteous and helpful (front desk, bar, etc). Very nice spa & pools. The bar and restaurant are also in line with what you would expect from a 5-star hotel (lovely dinner, and excellent breakfast buffet). Much more charming hotel than the neighboring huge complexes.
Very friendly and helpful reception, very polite staff. Room was very large and clean, the bed better than at home.Breakfast substantial and four course dinner better than we expected, enough variation. Bar and terrace elegant. The atmosphere relaxed. The view from our balcony could be a little better. Outside pool quite small. Service in restaurant some times too rapid - four course dinner in one hour!
Front of house staff are very friendly and professional. The spa was great - fab massage, but the outdoor and indoor pool were cold even though heated. Breakfast was ok, dinner was rushed and the goan specialities were far too hot [we have been to goa and nothing was that hot]. Room comfy and clean. Much better food and service at Da Forte restaurant in town.
I liked the very helpful and friendly staff in the hotel. The service was excellent.
Large room, quiet, friendly staff None
