The service was excellent and the included breakfast was amazing (mostly typical breakfast from Cartagena)! Juan took great care of us during breakfast and his service was on point every day! Roberto, Jessica and another young lady (I'm sorry i forgot her name) helped with restaurant reservations/recommendations! The hotel is very intimate and well done, only 12 rooms. The rooms were great, but my favorite part was the shower (strong pressure, which feels amazing after a day of sun tanning)! The roof top pool is perfect for having a couple of drinks, while getting some sun! Loved this hotel and will return! The overall experience was more than we expected (and we had high expectations)! Make sure you request a room that does not face the street, since the taxi's are more than trigger happy with their horns! Also, there are two night clubs across the street which will keep you up if you are a light sleeper! Guess that stayed in rooms that face the interior said that they could not hear anything!
I liked the fact they had a travel agency to book my trips day before. The pool is huge lots of space. The pool bar is great. Great drinks. Check in was fast and they even signed me up with a hilton account for free. I asked to leave my luggage for my flight so i could do some extra stuff and they helped me with that. So i was very happy. Me and my fiancé were treated like royal. I would come back. Thank you Hilton Cartagena!!! Didnt like that fact i got a lil hot at night. So i had to get up at night and reset the air conditioner. I asked for a late check out but they didnt have the space. The hotel was booked 100%. All around i dont have not really bad to say.
The location was fantastic very helpful staff I would definitely would come back again.
Restaurants, transportation, beaches, safe, beautiful clean hotel, friendly staff, buffet breakfast was outstanding, gardens around the hotel very well kept (even exotic animals). Over all a wonderful experience. WiFi was limited and difficult to connect to. Be aware of the beach vendors who may try to rip you off (not really a hotel issue)
the pool & the staff were fantastic The buildings are in need of repair from deferred maintanance
The facility was gorgeous, truly beautiful hotel and landscaping was great. Animals added to the experience. Staff had a bad attitude, particularly servers and doormen even front desk people.
Very nice hotel, excellent service, nice rooms, very clean, in front of the beach. The WiFi Internet connection was really bad
A/C wasn't working properly. Room was stifling. They were unable to fix it. Be weary of hidden costs on your bill. Very deceptive, had extra charge that were not disclosed up front. Do not stay here.
Wifi again was bad
The grounds are beautiful. Guest relations is beyond and above expectation. For 4 or 5 star hotel, I expected a formal dining restaurant; I expected the mini bar to be fully stocked. I expected quality service from the housekeeping staff...returning to my room and finding no toilet paper is unacceptable....having one glass in the bathroom for a room for 4 people is unacceptable. My one and only significant complaint is with customer service and being subjected to maintenance activity on a much too regular basis.
Fit with the city - nice but elegant. Food was great, staff very attentive.
Beautiful space with very friendly and helpful staff. Nice rooms with comfortable beds, but we'll remember it for the pool and short walk to the beach.
I particularly appreciated the courtesy and the generally warm and kind service staff. They were simply WONDERFUL! I, in fact want to write the management to express my appreciation and especially commend them on their staff especially those working the poolside restaurant-breakfast,lunch and dinner. GREAT SERVICE! absolutely nothing;only that the stay ended too quickly...LOL
I was threatened by one of the employees. He also followed me around. I didn't sleep the first night because they put me in in area next to a busy road. It was like sleeping outside next to a freeway it was so loud.
The hotel is beautiful. The staff is always willing to help to make sure your stay is unforgettable. The restaurant ALMA, located in the hotel, is one of the best restaurants in Cartagena. If you are going to spend time in the hotel and are with someone special, this is the place to stay. Unlike the bigger luxury hotels in Cartagena, this hotel offers a more personal/intimate service since there are only about 30 rooms! One of my favorite parts was the coconut treats that the staff leaves in your room every night, which are made in the hotel. I liked them so much, i bought a dozen to bring back with me! There were very few down sides to our stay, but there was some pressure cleaning of the pool area being done at night until 2am, which was a bit load/disturbing. Also, there are some parts of the hotel that you have to be quite in since some guests complain about everything (the roof sun deck is one of those areas)!
The hotel is positioned well, with nicely decorated rooms, the view of the sea is nice. The Lobby is poor with mildew and mold odor, I was in the 16 floor, the corridor stinks, there is a permanent smell of burnt frying oil, of fried fish, fried eggs at any given minute of the day. The same bad smell hits you when you go to eat breakfast. If you have allergies or have a bronchial issues you will get sick from this air quality. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone no ever go back there
I understand that hotels in resort towns on the Carribean are almost never as good as you think they will be but I have to admit, Almirante was a major let down. The location of the hotel seems nice from far away but when you get there, you realize the area is run down. Maybe Cartagena isn't what it used to be as a tourist destination and so it isn't well maintained but the roads and sidewalks were poor, the beach was very dirty, and you didn't get the feeling that this was a safe area. To avoid the beach, we decided to try the hotel's pool. Unfortunately, it is small and badly designed. There are only 2 depths, 35' (0.75m) which is okay for kids above a certain age and 59' (1.5m) which meant that anyone shorter than 5' 9' would have to stand on their tip toes or just keep swimming. You couldn't just relax in the pool. The hotel staff was average at best. Front desk does not bother to tell you that if you want to use the very old safe in the room, you will have to ask for a key for it...
We were the last year and we spent a nice time, because de hotal and all the things were the best, I loved the city and the people from Colombia, of course I will recomend this hotel and the beatifull city.
The hotel was clean and very pretty. The Staff was really nice. I would recommende to everyone.
This hotel was nothing like described in the pictures. Very old, shower curtain was filthy, windows were dirty, not enough towels in bathroom, lots of rust in parts of bathroom, AC was loud and disturbing. I was really disappointed with this hotel.
Front desk attention very good, as well as the restaurant, the staff are very nice. The rooms are ok. They need to be improve, the bathroom condition and not very good The pool is awful, the close at 5pm, hardly any chair to accommodate such a big hotel. The pool to small, for such a large hotel, and the pool area in general is very poor and need some repair or for the area to be redone
This hotel is in an excellent zone, close of restaurants, boutiques, cafes and beaches. Bedrooms are clean and the services is very effective and the personal kind, Breakfasts are good too. I like it and I would go back againg.
This hotel is one of the nicest in Bocagrande. Hotel staff was very nice and friendly. Food in the restaurant was very good. A little pricey, but very good. The rooms could use some updating, especially the bathrooms. Temperature control in the room was a little bit of an issue. All and All I was very satisfied with my stay.
A little pricey but nice stay. Small casino right in the hotel, the only hotel in the area with a casino inside. Right across the street from the beach. Staff was a little impolite but nothing horrible. Rooms were very nice in comparrison to other hotels in the area. Walkup was about 100 more than internet booking. I would stay again.
Cartagena is very hot and humid during the summer months. Shorts, sandals, and loose clothing is recommended. Cartagena is a tourist city and a strict dress code is not expected nor enforced. The hotel location is excellent, 15 min. drive from the airport (for personal safety I had a cab pick-up arranged thru the hotel for 21,000., Colombian pesos), 10 min. cab ride to the walled city (5,000. Colombian pesos), and accross the street from the beach. I found posted reviews to be accurate as to the insistence of vendors on the beach and the street. It can be annoying, like flyes around your food (apt metaphore), but Colombian people are generally, and overwhelmingly, peaceful, respectful, and polite. The only shortcoming I found with the hotel, and also covered in a posted review, was the pool size and limited available lounge chairs. However, the staff's excellent service makes-up for it. The concierges are very helpful with general information and booking tours. One of them, Juan Carlos...
I can't say enough about how much I enjoyed this hotel. You have all the amenities you could want from a top grade hotel, paired with a friendly/warm staff who make it feel more like a boutique hotel. The restaurant on the first floor (Harry Sasson) was also great. I will definitely stay here again when I return to Cartagena!
Excelente atención por parte del personal de hotel, actividades para los niños, buena comida, las habitaciones muy limpias, las piscinas muy tranquilas y cómodas
Facilities are good. Attention by clerk and room were very old, and very far from installations. It was the last room of the hotel. When enter to the room it was full of Mosquitos and smell around was nasty.
Hotel service was great. Bed was super comfortable and room was clean. There's a quick mart across the street with everything you need. The beach wasn't relaxing at all. The vendors are extremely aggressive. They line up at your cabana and you can barely close your eyes for 30 seconds. They start massaging you and asking for money. We were there for 3 days and only went to the beach 1 day.. Stay in old town and enjoy the history and market where you go to vendors, not the other way around.
I loved the room decoration for couples done by the staff of the hotel. Also the breakfast was really good . N/a
I did like the breakfast every morning . They offer a nice variety of fruits and breads to go with your choice of style eggs made to order. I didn't like the fact that the Ac was not working properly . We had two rooms in our stay and both had cooling issues.
I wish that they had better internet service. It either didn't work at all or was too slow. They need to speak better English to accommodate their guests, since this is a hospitality business.
The hotel offers great comfort. The pool next to the beach is wonderful. The breakfast was so delicious. The bedrooms are very clean and comfortable. I didn't like the prices. It is a little bit costly the food.
Pool area is fun sunning or splashing but it is large with nice views and well maintained. Rooms were good ours at the front had a lot of light. In the back not so much but in a hot climate not a problem. Common areas were fun. Every thing was clean and worked. It is a small hotel and for the price you can not expect perfect breakfasts or fast checkin. Staff spoke english if imperfectly.
I thought the rooms were large and the bathrooms were very nice. The staff was very attentive and helpful. There was construction adjacent to my room at another adjacent property. No one warned me of the construction during the reservation process. I woke up to hear jackhammers adjacent to the wall next to my bed.
The location is good Hotel charged us $300 dollars upon checkout for VAT & city taxes even though we booked and paid through KAYAK!! No bill was given!! No gym, no buffet breakfast, mediocre service simple room, simple shower, nothing special except the location. Won't recommend this hotel. Go for Helton or intercontinental.
We liked everything about the Ananda Hotel, the concierge was most helpful with restaurants and getting around. We took the advice of others that had stayed there and had dinner at the Hotel, it was excellent and good value. Breakfast was included and was again excellent. Nothing not to like.
