Great ocean view, park-like grounds with seating and three fireplaces. Attached restaurant where we ate breakfast the two mornings we were there. Good assortment offered and tasty food. Booked 2 rooms, thru Getaroom via Kayak.com. Our friends arrived at 2PM and could not check in because reservations were in my name. I called Getaroom and they took care of that however, the hotel still wouldn't let them into a room due to no rooms being ready. They were told to come back at 3PM. Still no rooms available. By the time we arrived at 4PM our rooms were ready. Nothing on our confirmation tells check in time. When I went to check out half an hour before being ready to leave, I was told not to as the rooms were cleaned promptly upon departure. If this is so, then why couldn't our friends check in upon their arrival? Aren't you in the "people business"? Be friendlier.
This was our second stay here. The location is fantastic, the rooms large, thoughtful amenities and clean! The restaurant is excellent. We will definitely return!
Location - cannot beat it Bathroom/small kitchenette - very convenient Staff - great to talk to and provided a fantastic service Room had a bit of an off smell
Close to the beach, has fire pits at night. They required my personal information - phone and address, just to check in. I do not like giving out my private info, especially when they will likely sell it or use it to market to me. They already have my credit card number to pay for the room. I gave a phone but no address upon check in. Then they would not let me check out unless I gave my address too! What do they even need that for except nefarious purposes? I don't like having my privacy violated just to stay in a hotel.
The location is lovely. It is on a bluff over the beach, with several benches for watching the sunset. There is also a nice big grassy area for play and 3 outdoor fireplaces. There are a lot of stairs down to the beach. The rooms by the lobby & restaurant are very noisy and appear to be an old remodeled motel. I could hear doors opening & slamming two rooms away in each direction and every step of the people above us. It is a distraction from the lovely ocean sounds we went to enjoy. Plus guests smoked outside their own rooms by our windows. The restaurant is very good for a simple breakfast as well as a nice dinner. The service was very prompt & the food was delicious. Staff was not clear about the pet policy and I called a week in advance to ask. They offered 2 phone numbers of pet sitters though the next day the front desk staff said they had more sitters' numbers available. Only one of the two sitters actually called back late the next day later, far too late to salvage our plans.
We oved the fact that all rooms had a beach view, sliding glass doors open to rocking chairs with a view of the see. Binocuars in the room were a nice touch for porpoise and seal watching. Unfortunately, the night we visited, there was a wild thunderstorm. I was imagining being washed out to see. Would love to go again for a longer stay.
Good choice for visitors to Hurst Castle. Friendly staff. Good choice for a one night stay. Room was clean, reasonably well appoined and comfortable.
The staff was very friendly and informed us of restaurants and things to do in the area upon check-in. The room was nice and clean, the only thing I didn't like was the pillows but to each his own.
Loved how close it was to Hearst Castle. We're thinking about coming back in May and we'll most likely stay here again. Could not beat it for the price.
We were visiting Hearst Castle the next day and found the hotel more than adequate to meet our one day needs. Only negative was breakfast. All carbs, no protein.
Very comfortable room.had a TV microwave and a mini fridge. Bed was comfortable. Didn't use the pool. And the breakfast was good for a Continental. Could've used some bacon. Hot eggs or sausage maybe. Carbs tire me out. Located across from Pacific and near Hearse Castle and Cambria ,Morro Bay, a lighthouse and huge seals. Absolutely would stay here again!!!
The room needed to be remolded. There was cracked and peeling plaster throughout the room. The bedroom smelled of mold and there was a lot of mold on the shower curtain. The beds were extremely hard. The heater was very hard to control, there were gaps in the plaster around the heater, and the thermostat was extremely old and was about to come of the wall. Although I booked the room online, when I asked for a receipt at the end of the stay, the clerk argued with me and reluctantly printed a useless receipt. The continental breakfast was outside in the cold and very limited. I could not recommend this hotel to anyone.
This hotel was adequate for our one night stay near Hearst Castle.
Any other hotel in the area would be better than this one. Breakfast was overseen by an unfriendly, cheap person. Kids were not very welcome. Location is not bad.
Good proximity for visit to Hearst Mansion. Would have wanted better room light for a longer stay.
My husband and I wanted a hotel that was inexpensive, clean and safe along the coast. The hotel is older looking but very well kept and the staff was very courteous and helpful. The breakfast offered had a decent variety and the food was good. We also had a nice view of the ocean from our room. We will stay there again. I don't recommend getting a room with a courtyard view, as all the 'balconies' there face each other which doesn't offer any real privacy. The hotel does not have an elevator if that is a concern.
The staff was very helpful and freindly and the rooms were clean and spacious. The restaurant attached was excellent and reasonably priced.
the receptionist and attendant were very helpful during check in and check out. housekeepers were on time for things we requested for the room. breakfast served healthy foods and coffee fresh made. hot chocolate was also good and quantity more than enough for everyone.
We needed a hotel near to Hearst Castle and Days Inn was perfectly located and excellent value for money. We had a large king room which had been newly refurbished and continental breakfast was included too. Builders are on site as some rooms are still being refurbished but this didn't really detract from our stay.
Conveniently located. Room was decent and comfortable. Person at counter upon arrival was helpful and nice. Breakfast was minimal and took long to restock.
Clean, spacious rooms with comfortable king bed. WiFi signal was weak and low bandwidth. Maid walked in the room without knocking. Breakfast food ran out. Oatmeal was undercooked.
Beds were comfortable, windows open, room was clean: my top three. Spa was a great bonus. Location near Hearst Castle cannot be beat. Not much to do nor many choices for dining near by, which is not the hotel's fault, but do plan ahead and eat in Cambria or further south if coming from that direction.
Close to Hearst Castle - super convenient in that sense. Pretty much everything else. Cell signal is terrible here if you're on AT&T so I was really relying on their WiFi to get connected. It's terrible. No elevator so if you're on the second floor keep that in mind. Ocean view? I mean, I guess technically. Don't pay extra for that. Front desk guy completely vanished in the morning - I needed him to transfer a call that was coming in. Wet carpet near the nightstand. Musty smell from the window unit. Look this is basically a $59 hotel masquerading as a $150 hotel because it can. Free markets and all. Just go in with the right expectations and you'll be fine.
We enjoyed staying in the Days Inn. The room was clean and big. We felt very comfortable to sleep in. The room price was reasonable. It's closed to the Hearst Castle. We had an impression to live in this place.
The location is great for the price, and we really did love the waffle machine at breakfast. While there was not a huge breakfast selection, my boyfriend and I were more than satisfied. The indoor spa was pretty nice, clean, and bubbly. The gentleman at the front desk was very accommodating when we arrived close to the spa's closing time and allowed us a little time to relax after our long drive. As for the room, it's a great value for the price. The bed was pretty comfy and there were enough pillows and blankets for the two of us. The heater worked well, and there is a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker as well. For the price, you don't expect luxury, but you at least are getting a great value for your stay. The ice machine was broken the entire stay, but no one ever did anything to repair it, even though more than one guest complained (and the solution given to get ice was to retrieve it from the bar next door... yeah because I am really going to walk in to a bar I don't know in an area I've never been just to ask for ice!). The water level in the spa was a little too low so the jets were causing the water to spout up super high, but if you sat right in front of it, you could block it. And I was slightly concerned about the cleanliness after opening up the fridge and finding someone else's food was still in there... yuck.
Staff was courteous and quick. Simple and clean, recently updated floors were a nice surprise. Great access to Big Sur and Hearst Castle area. Slept here only, did not have the breakfast, nor did I use the TV. Would stay here again but would try to avoid 1st floor, as the guests above us ran back and forth like they were having a relay race at dawn -- not the hotel's fault however.
Location for Hearst Castle was excellent. Good value for money hotel.
how nice the staff was and nice rooms. n/a
The room was very clean and had better furnishing than most of the hotels in its category. Staff was quite friendly.
Location, clean Noisy
Would definitely stay again
basic motel - but clean, short walk to the coastal access, good towel service could hear upstairs neighbours, pool moderately clean, however, stayed off season
The staff were very helpful when I had an issue with a credit card. Also they moved us to a quieter room when requested. Nice to have a sea view, unspoilt spot. Very good rooms & excellent location for a visit to Hearst Castle.
Value for money.
A simple motel with comfortable beds. Location was perfect for a visit to the Hearst castle. Very convenient. The gentleman at the front desk we arrived the evening prior was very friendly and helpful. Parking situation was poor. There aren't enough spaces for the hotel guests. Also the complementary breakfast voucher is a waste of time. The restaurant that is associated with the hotel that excepts the breakfast voucher has the worst service I've seen in a long time. Don't even waste your time getting the complementary breakfast and less you'd like to sit around for a while and get a poor quality danish and cold coffee while you're waiting for your milk to arrive.
Location and price
Very close and convenient to the Hearst Castle and the beach. Everything in the town is super close though. Wasn't special in any way. Just another motel by the water, could have stayed in any random motel with th same experience.
all that's needed for a one-night stay on a budget.
The kids loved the indoor swimming pool. The parents loved the hot tub. We were pleasantly surprised that the family room had a microwave and refrigerator. Need to update the website that the family room has a refrigerator and microwave.
I like the location of this inn This inn is not really clean. The tower has some yellow stain on it and our blanket has a big yellow spot, which looks like a stain from period blood that was not washed out completely. There is green mold on the shower tap. I dont require the inn to be modern and luxurious but it at least has to be clean.
Location. Sheets and blankets didn't fit the bed and were old and wrinkled. Pillows were smelly. Toilet paper was stiff and unusable.
The pool was nice I could hear the people on the second floor walking back and fourth all night
Surprisingly nice considering the price. It was nice to have the pool and jacuzzi, and the room was clean. WIFI did not work in the rooms.
Very close to attractions, cheap Walls so thin Other people's snoring woke me up. The slightest movement with upstairs neighbors sounded like the ceiling would cave in. Very noisy altogether. Otherwise not terrible.
Could not shower as bath water was a horrible dark yellow, so bad I took a picture. Saunas water was cold until evening even though it was supposedly open from 9 till 9. Coffee maker did not work. However beds were comfy. Needs some work! Stayed here 5 years ago and it was much nicer. No continental breakfast . Won't stay here again. Workers playing loud Spanish music in the laundry room with door open early in the morning, we could hear it in our room several doors down.
Spacious room and very close to the beach !! My husband and I were very comfortable there with our 2 year old. We stayed for a week and appreciated having a fridge. HBO was nice to have as well. The only complaint would be that the carpets could be cleaner. They need a carpet cleaner to run through more often. Other than that we had no complaints.
Indoor pool area. Proximity to beach. Staff would not accommodate request for 1st floor room even though only a few rooms were occupied at check in. No elevator so had to carry luggage up stairs and down outside deck. No breakfast without charge. Noisy between rooms--could hear conversations next door. Rattling bath fans in adjacent rooms could be heard all night.
Rolig og koselig hotell midt i mellom San Francisco og Los Angeles tett ved kystvegen "Highway 1". Rene og flotte rom, med gode senger. Satte også pris på svømmebasseget i sommervarmen.
Beliggenhet langs Hwy1. OK frokost, men ikke det største utvalget. Et greit nok overnattingssted på en roadtrip.
We went with another couple. King room with balcony. Awesome stay. Clean, quiet, beach right across hwy...easy access. Would recommend and definately stay again.
Hands down, the best value in the area by far. Makes sense why they have so many positve reviews, great stay all around. Location is great. Restaurant/bar on site. Rooms very clean. Can't be beat at that price. As many have said before, the only thing that would really help would be AC units in the room. It was 80 when we were there, and the rooms felt stuffy in the afternoon even with windows open.
The bed was like sleeping on a cloud! For $60 AWESOME! ! Nothing everything was good.
Cheap, fridge and microwave. Slow wifi, no AC, crappy soap.
The get what you pay for Dogs barking all night is not what you want to hear after a long journey
-Location was perfect -Room was clean and comfortable -It was nice to have some outdoor space -Pool area could use some upgrades
The room was updated. The bed was comfortable. The staff was pleasant. Excellent value. The bathroom was clean, but the shower had mold on the door.
Walking distance to the beach (but then again all the hotels there are about the same distance away). It was cheap... The bed was comfortable. The guy in the lobby that works late was nice. The walls are paper thin, you can clearly hear your adjacent neighbors conversation/snoring. The height of the shower head is the same as my chin and I'm only 5'10". There was a used shampoo bottle, that I'm guessing was used by the previous guest, in our shower. We stayed on the first floor and we could hear every step from the guest in the rooms directly above us. We can also hear, very loudly, people walking upstairs on the balcony walkway. My 120 pound girlfriend sat on the plastic toilet seat and it either became loose or broke somehow. Not sure if it was previously already broken or was just not put in correctly. Furniture is probably older than me.
it was a good location and cheap. bathrooms were not that clean, toilet was weird, coffeemaker was broken.
Location is right off the PCH. Staff is friendly. Property was not clean. Property is too old and badly needs renovation. Bed covering skirts were dirty.
Nothing The beds, towels, and blanks dirty.
Close to beach, hearst castle AC not working...
No shampoo or conditioner provided. It was available in a vending machine.
