The rooms were nice. The receptionist was not bilingual and we had a hard time communicating. However, the next morning there was a bilingual person manning the front desk. They also have no elevator so toting your luggage can be cumbersome to the third floor.
The friendliness of the staff
Both beds were extremely comfortable with good clean duvets. Good hot water at all times. Very central so everything was within walking distance. Room (twin) very small with not much room to move. Although it was hot at night, we had to keep the windows closed because of the train noise. Very few parking spaces for customers.
Basic fairly priced hotel close to station and centre of town, might be considered noisy by some people. no
It is very close to the airport bus stop and the railway station. Showers were not very good.
I'm very sorry but there was nothing I liked about this hotel... As I said before it was a huge disappointment: staff doesn't speak english, receptionist had no communication manners, noise from the train station was incredible and even radiator in the room was hot while autside was +25 degrees! It was absolutely awful. I have no idea why this hotel has 2 stars and is classified as a hotel. I'm very sorry but I'll never come back there and will never recmmend this to anyone else. It was very poor service for the money. I'm very sorry for myself.
Nothing special to recall other than proximity to station Poor space in bathroom
Proximity to station Scarcity of parking space
Helpful staff who spoke English. Ideal location being by station and bus stop for airport bus. It was ideal for our requirements. The room was hot and due to its city location opening the windows made it rather noisy
The staff are very friendly and helpful. It is also very conveniently located and rooms are quiet despite proximity to the railway station. no shower curtain and only two towels for a couple with child. Breakfast was also a bit meagre in choice and quantity, though one morning significantly better than another.
close to La Gare. The streets in Nimes are very uneven! I stumbled several times.
The experience made you feel that you were in a luxury home as a guest, not the normal 'hotel' experience, much nicer. The bathroom takes a bit of getting used to as it didn't have a door.
Excellent service, friendly and welcoming Inadequate lighting in both rooms and i common areas, however there was great ambience and we thoroughtloy enjoyed our stay
Location very good close to centre.Beautiful garden with pool - nice retreat from city in midday heat. Very interesting hotel. Great attention to detail. Very personal service. Beautiful hotel, charming accommodation but more like exclusive City guesthouse. Room small for a double room. No minibar.Facilities as an hotel quite limited. Difficult to find.
The building is a lovely old post house with 2 gardens, which are lovely for relaxing in. but we were very unhappy with almost everything about this very expensive and pretentious hotel. Our room was not up to the standard of most 3 star hotels. none of the following: luggage rack, robe hooks, lavatory roll holder, loo brush, soap dish in shower, towel rails, international electrical points, no mini bar, no dressing table, clothes-hanging rail of jacket length - not for dresses, bedside lights only (25 watt) too little to read by, and if switched off at bedside impossible to turn on light when entering room at door. Chicken wire in door-frame between lavatory and bedroom so no visual privacy, and smells penetrated room. 2x25 watt wall lights in bathroom not sufficient for shaving or make-up. Mirror to side of wash basin - bad for wet shaving. Second pillows supplied reluctantly. We shall be writing to the hotel chain
The staff were very helpful and we loved the location and the garden
Utterly exquisite. A hidden oasis with a passion for detail and cleanliness. Superb facilities. Extremely friendly, courtious and considerate staff led by the extraordinary example of making you feel at home by the proprietors Its not cheap, but it has great value. A must stay at hotel. We will remember our stay for a very, very long time. Superb!!! Formidable!!!! So acessable being 3 minutes from the tvg station. Nothing whatsoever!!!! We take exception to recent reviews saying that the staff were rude. Such a senario is just impossible!!!!!
I loved the bespoke service that was offered - the fact that the owners talk to the guests is amazing. Loved the ambience and the decor. Would definitely go again.
helpfulness and friendliness of staff - ability to communicate well in French and English
Charming hotel. Very pretty garden. Little far from town center. Noisy because of nearby railroad.
Easy to find. Bed was terrible as both twins rolled into the center so that you were lopsided. Also noise from the highway is loud. Sleep was difficult and this hotel does not measure up to other Best Westerns.
The restaurant in this hotel i very good.
Easy to find and parking is very convenient. Rooms were spacious and facilities are many and varied (eg. Swimming pool). Dining room was pleasant and you were given numerous options for breakfast. It is located a bit out of the city centre but the walk was relatively easy (20 minutes).
Good basic hotel
location, and pool
Easy to find and in a convenient spot. The staff were good. The hotel felt "sad" and rundown.
This hotel was only a 15 min walk (even for a tired 4yr old) to the center/train station but felt more like a small tucked away hotel you might find on a hillside somewhere. The courtyard/pool is stunning, with a really nice space for eating outside as well. The wind in Nîmes meant it never got too hot, but also meant the water in the pool was very very cold. The train to the beach at Grau du Roi (where the water is a bit warmer) took less than an hour and was only €1 each way. Great boulangerie across the street, plus a Carrefour just around the corner. The friendliness and helpfulness of the reception staff really sets this hotel apart. I travel extensively for work and can only think of one other hotel with staff so helpful, and that was after staying at that hotel for a month, not just the few days I spent at L'Orangerie. We stayed in two different rooms. The first was more expensive but a bit more shabby. Its shower room really needed updating. The next room we had booked was much more cheerful and fresh, and the bathroom was fine.
It was a convenient stop before leaving early in the morning for the airport. Did not like the fact that the restaurant was full and we could not dine there.
Good Breakfast and having a poolside room Difficulty in obtaining the complimentary welcome Tea/Coffee tray especially getting the refills. Why are they just not left in the room?
The restaurant food (our selection) was excellent. Staff extremely pleasant and helpful Rather a longer walk into town centre than anticipated. A taxi or car journey for the less mobile
Quit nice small and hospitality but need some repairment. Staff is good. Breakfast very poor Bathroom is very old and needs some repairing bath and toilet
Location. Hard to find on a narrow street, but right in the heart of the old town. Adaquate room, nicely appointed. Interior open-air courtyard was beautiful with old stone archways, had a castle-like feel. Not really. Parking was 100 metres away in a shopping centre parkade, but at 8 Euros/day it was cheap. And what do you expect in a two hundred year old downtown hotel?
Situation of the Hotel. We like the fact that the hotel is an 18 something years old building. The public spaces gave us a real feel of the age of the bulding and area where it's located. Overall, it was a good exeprience. No place to unload our luggages on the street. We had to park our car in a nearby shopping center and walk with our luggages on the street. The room itself was clean, the bed was good but it's a bit outdated and might require some refreshing.
Above all its close proximity to the charming old city. Draught beer at O'Flaherty's nearby. Breakfast and other French quality meals in sunlight squares. We booked for two nights and stayed six. The parking was most useful but I think that, for an executive car, access might be uncomfortably tight.
everything was very good. the breakfast was excellent I would have like decaffinated coffee
clean good value for money good breakfast central-near rail & bus transport.Problemn of getting to the airport caused by a lightning strike by local taxis two & a half hours before the flight departure was most kindly solved by the owner himself running us in his car to the airport--you cannot beat that for service
In centre, near arenes and train station rooms a bit small, but ok for 1 night
very friendly and helpful staff
beds very comfortable, quiet hotel - good night's sleep, good showers dark in the room breakfast expensive for what it was
Reasonable price, excellent central location, quiet air conditioner. We even had a large balcony to sit on. Carpet needed replacing. Elevator only goes to third floor, we were on the fourth.
Very Helpful Staff. Good location for exploring Nimes Centre
It was in the Centre of Nimes and we could walk to good restaurants, bars and all site seeing places.
The hotel was in the centre of town which maent that once the car was parked, we could walk the areas we wanted to visit. There were plenty of local restaurants available
Myself, my partner and my brother had done a road trip to spain and stayed in this hotel for 1 night on ruturn overall we stayed in 3 hotels and they all were very nice, the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and tidy. we only had 1 issue with the hotel and it was the breakfast it said 14 euroes each for an american style breakfast and all we got was bread and butter with a choice of cheese and hams and some yogurts and crossants we needed a big breakfast before our next 6 hour drive so was disapointed with that. we would saty again but not have breakfast.
my daughter Danielle stayed at the hotel and she said she liked it. The staff were very nice
The lady at the reception was very friendly and helpful even offered to help us with our luggage from and to the car. The secure car parking. Wasn´t too keen on the location but it was ok for an overnight stay.
It is well positioned to see Nimes, good garage, nice staff. Breakfast was good. Renovation in progress should improve it even more. Plenty of nearby Restaurants and Bars. Price is about right. (Budget level) No Bar. Restaurant not open. Further renovation works in progress and needed. Heating in room.
The room was bright and comfortable. The cleaner was pleasant and cooperative. The staff were helpful around the car in the garage. The breakfast was good. When we could not get to our car as planned the charge was deducted. Too many steps in the dining room, especially as we had to carry our hot drinks from the machine several times each breakfast, as the cups were so small. The garage was charged for, yet there was a lot of manoeuvring needed and one morning we couldn't get the car out as planned.
The room was very quiet and the beds were comfortable, so we were able to have a good night's sleep. The airport shuttle stopped close to the hotel. It was a bit far from the train and bus stations.
Very good location. Confortable room (big bedroom and bathroom). Very good price. The bed wasn't very confortable.
Room smelt of stale smoke.
There was free wifi access and free parking. Staff were helpful, and room was small but cozy.
Location was convenient to Nimes, with basic services nearby. Suitable for budget travellor, or for overnight stop on-the-road. Reasonable value for money.
Cooperation of the hotel staff!
The hotel was clean and tidy and the hosts were very friendly. The bedroom and bathroom were small, perfect as a base to explore the area from but not ideal if you plan on spending any amount of time indoors. Lack of security, the hotel did have cctv but there was a slight incident one night and no security personnel. Also not English speaking as advertised in other media.
both rooms were smelling awful, it was a little worse than tent...
Free Wifi. Check in by electronic check maschine, but it's ignore my reservation pin code. We had wrote that we would arrive late at night and when we got there it was no one, just a sign "hotel complete".
The rooms are Clean! Food is Good! Good hotel if not staying for long! 3 nights maximum! bathroom (shower room) is Very small! Camper style! would need a car as it is far from any restaurants or pubs.
Cheap and adequate. Airconditioning. WiFi Internet access would not allow access to Hotmail or other Log-in-type stites
Parking good Some distance from city centre car / taxi needed
Good soundproofing. Proximity to train station as well as arena. Good housekeeping area and equipment and comfortable bed. Personnel courteous. Security issues: entry to hotel on side street poorly lit and isolated. Also, night watchman very young, maybe 17-18 years old. No use of phone at night, had to go across the square to the train station to use public phone. Also, at reception, personnel lacking experience, not able to give me a phone line, charged me for hotel room upon arrival and again upon departure and did not know how to give me a refund on my credit card for the 2nd time charged.
Flexibility, location, cleanliness, breakfast was excellent value for money as was the whole stay.
Good point to take train from station, situation near station, helpfuly stuff and comfortaibly room with all nessesarys for short and longer stay.
The room was very nice, shame about everything outside it The hotel hadn't been fully constructed, lots of work noise, and was basically a building site
Clean, comfortable. Well equiped kitchen. Not being able to check in till 3pm
The location was excellent being close to both rail and bus terminals. The provision of a laundry was a rare and appreciated facility. It was modern an well maintained. Breakfast was good. One of the receptionists was offhand and not at all welcoming.
Plenty of hot water & clean towels daily! Brand new so everything was spotless. Location.Receptionist was very helpful. On arrival we were shocked to see that the building was not finished. The website photo' shows an apartment block with shops underneath, when in fact the builders were hard at work and the 'shops' were just shells. We couldn't find the door amongst all this! The reception area did not compliment the rooms - rather stark and not welcoming in appearance.
price, location nothing
new building, self contained. the entire hotel was still under construction!!! it did not even look like it was open for business, i cannot believe a council would let such a business trade. loose wires everywhere, unfinished paths, the entire building was still a work site...had to walk over boards to get into reception. we even had someone else's dirty underwear left in the wardrobe...probably haven't got a cleaning contract yet! might be nice when finished....
Nice stuff, well-equiped room. Location is OK, but in case of late check in - it is very difficult to find where the hotel is? Nameplate "Citea Nime" is not illuminated at night.
Located across the street from the train station, on the "backside. Exit the station, cross pass the busses, bear left and it's a huge "target in sight." Carrefour City next door. Small but functional kitchenette. Great WiFi in room. Functioning air conditioning. As a solo senior female (I was unable to adjust the filters for this review) I felt completely safe and secure. I overlooked the train station, but could barely hear the noise therefrom. Highly recommend. I would stay there again
My husband and I stayed at the Ibis Styles for 3 nights in December. We thought it was great. The hotel is right behind the train station, which was great for us, as we were using the train for transport. A short walk through the train station and diwn a picturesque walkway got us right to the middle if the old town. The staff was very helpful and had great recommendations for meals. Breakfast was included and snacks were available all day and also included in the rate. Would definitely stay here again! The rooms are great! The only negative is they they are a bit small and a little dark. But, the space is used very well and it was perfect for what we wanted to do. Great value for the money!
Nice decoration, comfortable room, heart of the city. No elevator, no international tv, old room door.
Nice spacious room and lovely breakfast area and breakfast was very good. Receptionist in the morning was extremely helpful. Arrived 10pm and although the person who checked us in was nice I do not think he was familiar with the role of receptionist. Everything was closed!
Liked the location, adjacent to the main sights. Also liked the ambience of the hotel: stone floors, high ceilings, tall French doors opening onto street views. My room looked onto the street on the first floor (European first) and was noisy early in the morning.
Its location is excellent. Facilities are bad. Internet regularly stops working.
buono il letto e la caffetteria manca l'ascensore
right in town centre great price performance Chef even opened up 1/2 hour early as we had an early evening appointment
We have stayed at the Royal twice now. The rooms are fairly basic but very spacious and the hotel has a great Spanish influence. Best of all is its location and the resturant serving taps which has a good atmosphere. Noisy at the front of the hotel and needs better duvets and pillows-perhaps a little more creature comforts?
I would have to say the style of the hotel and the room were outstanding; we felt like royalty. Staff were brilliantly professional and language was no issue. The location in the centre of town was superb and close to all the Roman monuments, coloesium etc. an underground Parking station was very close and extremely unobtrusive which was great due to traffic being insane. The noise from the bar downstairs was heavy (we were in an extremely lavish upgraded suite above it) however in a spirit of holiday loving, if you can't beat it, join it, so we had a couple of drinks downstairs as well.
Ideal central location. Hotel room with a lot of style. Rather poor acoustic isolation. Vinci public parking pretty expensive.
Location, location, location! 20 seconds from Roman theatre, 5 minutes from amphitheatre (which was quite amazing) and close to shops and restaurants. Hotel staff all very good. Bedding and towels all very clean Our room was very basic (no wardrobe nor chest of drawers just open rail and open shelves). Small bath and no separate shower. Very noisy each morning
Breakfast buffet excellent - Conveninet location close to motorway and city center
Access available at 14.00 hours and room was air conditioned (outside temperature 33degrees c ) Room and bathroom slightly cramped
very friendly, helpful staff no hairdryer
The location was perfect for my trip No
Free Wifi, free parking
It is nice little, fairly cheap hotel. The rooms are clean, the staff helpful and also there is free internet. The hotel is quite far from the centre of Nimes. Beware, the map on the site is wrong! The hotel is located south of the arena in ville active and it is not walking distance.
Staff were very helpful and the buffet dinner was good. The hotel matched expectations for its type. Booking.com needs to update its information. The hotel is not 1 km from the city centre and the driving instructions are totally incorrect. The location of the hotel on the map is also incorrect. This is not the fault of the hotel as they have requested that these errors be fixed. Finding this hotel is a nightmare when using BOOKING.COM's directions. We were anticipating staying in a hotel which was a leisurely walk into the city centre, but found ourselves, eventually after a significant amount of angst and on the spot research, out in a shopping complex on the outskirts of Nime. We are very disappointed and would like to see this situation fixed so that other travellers do not experience this.
Good working shower. Relatively comfortable bed. Staff on reception were always helpful and efficient. Non smoking rooms although there was a lingering smoke smell in one of the rooms we stayed in. Dirty under the washbasin in bathrooms. Rooms were very small and there was poor natural lighting in some rooms as we stayed in two of the rooms there.
Very little, but it was easy to find. In our first room, the toilet was broken and would not flush. The staff did find another room, but the room they gave us was a smoking room and everything smelled like it (the sheets, the curtains, the towels...). Not to mention the floor was filthy. The shower had mold all over it, so we decided to pass on actually getting in it. I won't be back.
Proximity to the industrial area Tiny small bathroom, shabby and unclean carptes in the room, wifi working in the lobby only
