Located across the street from the train station, on the "backside. Exit the station, cross pass the busses, bear left and it's a huge "target in sight." Carrefour City next door. Small but functional kitchenette. Great WiFi in room. Functioning air conditioning. As a solo senior female (I was unable to adjust the filters for this review) I felt completely safe and secure. I overlooked the train station, but could barely hear the noise therefrom. Highly recommend. I would stay there again
price, location nothing
Very friendly people, great location, not too expensive. nothing, fortunately.
The location of the hotel is excellent. Just a few metres away from the Roman amphitheatre in Nimes and in the old town with all the restaurants.
The experience made you feel that you were in a luxury home as a guest, not the normal 'hotel' experience, much nicer. The bathroom takes a bit of getting used to as it didn't have a door.
The building is a lovely old post house with 2 gardens, which are lovely for relaxing in. but we were very unhappy with almost everything about this very expensive and pretentious hotel. Our room was not up to the standard of most 3 star hotels. none of the following: luggage rack, robe hooks, lavatory roll holder, loo brush, soap dish in shower, towel rails, international electrical points, no mini bar, no dressing table, clothes-hanging rail of jacket length - not for dresses, bedside lights only (25 watt) too little to read by, and if switched off at bedside impossible to turn on light when entering room at door. Chicken wire in door-frame between lavatory and bedroom so no visual privacy, and smells penetrated room. 2x25 watt wall lights in bathroom not sufficient for shaving or make-up. Mirror to side of wash basin - bad for wet shaving. Second pillows supplied reluctantly. We shall be writing to the hotel chain
Above all its close proximity to the charming old city. Draught beer at O'Flaherty's nearby. Breakfast and other French quality meals in sunlight squares. We booked for two nights and stayed six. The parking was most useful but I think that, for an executive car, access might be uncomfortably tight.
Very Helpful Staff. Good location for exploring Nimes Centre
I would have to say the style of the hotel and the room were outstanding; we felt like royalty. Staff were brilliantly professional and language was no issue. The location in the centre of town was superb and close to all the Roman monuments, coloesium etc. an underground Parking station was very close and extremely unobtrusive which was great due to traffic being insane. The noise from the bar downstairs was heavy (we were in an extremely lavish upgraded suite above it) however in a spirit of holiday loving, if you can't beat it, join it, so we had a couple of drinks downstairs as well.
We have stayed at the Royal twice now. The rooms are fairly basic but very spacious and the hotel has a great Spanish influence. Best of all is its location and the resturant serving taps which has a good atmosphere. Noisy at the front of the hotel and needs better duvets and pillows-perhaps a little more creature comforts?
