Staff were absolutely wonderful. We even had a bellman refuse a tip and a staff member on break offer to help us. Magnificent and gorgeous property in the heart of everything. This is a very large property with several buildings and can get crowded. It is rather easy to get lost also. Attentive staff and service more than makes up for that. It is a large property with several buildings so it can sometimes feel like a factory. It is also easy to get lost. However top-notch staff make the difference. We did have a misunderstanding about what kind of breakfast we got for a prepaid fee and where it was located. We were told we should get a full breakfast. Vouchers said continental breakfast in one building - staff told us to go to a different restaurant (mistake). Again, staff made everything ok.
Loved it was walking distance to a lot of things. Liked the resort feel. Romantic and family beach. Nice walks on waterfront. So crowded it's hard to get around in car.. Person kept knocking on the wall when we would have tv on past ten( I didn't feel it was up very high since no one could talk and hear tv at same time). Very expensive hotel. But again, you must pay to be on waterfront. Sand was odd on resort by water like it was poured to make a actual beach there.
Fireworks show. Location on the beach. Access to 4 lovely pools. Array of shops and restaurants. Dated rooms. Decrepit walls/paint fixtures. Missing furniture in my room? Elevators really old.
Loved the small lagoon, kiddie pool & water slides, Our suite was clean & spacious with amazing view. Check in was awful-it took over 30 minutes to check in. Huge lines were forming and not really sure why since reservations were already made. Also annoying was the fact that you were given cards to get towels- however they failed to mention that you had to return them otherwise you would have to pay a. $10 per card!!! we usually do express check out just so we don't have to deal with front desk again.
I liked that the location is close to the water Much needed room renovations are required in addition to better cleanliness. Parking in the hotel which is required if you have a car is way over priced and even more than the price to rent the actual car. Another resort fee is added at the end which covers items such as yoga and do not apply to everyone is applied. Fine a different hotel that would be your best bet
Bathroom had a sliding door and no fan. No privacy.
Alyssa was very helpful in helping us to switch our rooms and we do appreciate her very much. We started off on the wrong foot from the moment we arrived, having to wait over and hour to check in. Yes it was the weekend of the marathon and we understand that but, for the first 45 minutes they had only 3 people checking in the regular guest and only 3 checking in the Hilton elite. After they put another 3 on each side the line moved much quicker. On top of this we had booked a king bed but when we go to the room it was 2 queens and by this time we didn't want to go back to the front desk and wait even longer. They did end up moving us for our second night, but it's still frustrating when you have to move in the middle of your trip. On top of this the beds aren't what i would expect when i'm paying $375 a night..super hard and could almost feel the spring in one of them....needless to say we won't be wasting our money next time we visit Oahu.
The inclusion of the mandatory and deceptive "resort fee" tainted my entire experience at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. The "resort" amenities offered no additional value to me yet were not optional. What's more, the one "resort" amenity that I did use, wireless Internet, was terrible and unusable; just loading Gmail timed out continuously. I ended up using my phone as a hotspot because it had better throughput. The charge for parking was yet another bait-and-switch and was not included as it is in other hotel's resort fees. As a matter of principle I will not recommend this hotel to others nor stay there myself if Hilton continues this deceptive practice.
In a pinch because of an ice storm, we had to find a room before our reservation at the Hale Koa started. Hilton was close, so we picked this hotel. So expensive. Perk was we could walk to our hotel the next day. Room was lack luster for a $300 room. And that's all we had really. Super busy and hard to navigate with luggage with all the people swarming around. Waste of money. Breakfast buffet is good but so expensive, and another $35 charge at check out for what? We only stayed one night, and that was one night too long.
Everything was great! The beach was beautiful, 5$3 staff, facilities, location was excellent! The pools were overwhelming, crammed with people. Also, the hot tubs always has children playing in them and were unattended, they weren't very relaxing. An "adult only" hot tub or sauna would be an added bonus! We weren't the only couple frustrated by this.
Hotel staff, bars, main pool, being right on the beach. I had requested Diamond Head view with the package I bought, and found that I wouldn't get that on arrival BUT the guy that checked us in did find one albeit on a much lower floor but still fantastic view and that made my 50th birthday very special. Drink pricing different in different bars! The resort fee baffles me, no idea what that is actually for. Staff were great and the Pronto Pickle was a life saver after a very full day of sightseeing and touring! Great staff in there too, and we could take hot food to the room with a couple of drinks from the ABC! :o) sitting on the balcony watching the sun go down. Nothing better. Check in seems an incredibly slow process and there's little point to the 2 lines for HH members. However, the staff do not let you leave the check in without ensuring you have every bit of information you could want. All very patient staff. Pricey hotel, resort fees, and parking fees, and beer! However, the cost of cocktails were a welcome surprise! The pools are all in the shade by 5pm, which is such a shame.
Wonderful relaxing atmosphere! Nice walking path along the beach, good variety of restaurants, beautiful views & grounds, staff was very nice Main pool is dated, looks 1970s, MAIN COMPLAINT: NO Room Service. What major hotel resort has no room service? I was disappointed. food is pricey. Go to a market & get waters, fruit snacks etc. & save $
very comfortable yet stylish. welcoming shell lei warmed my heart at the check in. simple but well designed kitchen made me want to stay longer and enjoy cooking. the pancakes i ordered for a breakfast at the cafe at the lobby was pretty salty. i was not familiar with pancakes being salty...
The pool is really nice! The rooms were luxurious and the staff were very helpful. It's close to the beach, but not on it. The TV's need an upgrade. It would have been nice if the pool was open later. We watched people swim from our balcony at another hotel while ours was closed.
The hotel was extraoridnarily clean and you hardly ever saw the staff; but should you need someone of something they were there very quickly to assist the concierge was perfection and the bell captains were super helpful...This hotel made our honeymoon fabulous everything was perfect
The style of the hotel was very chic and contemporary. Nice quality and style. The staff are very friendly but need more training. The service was clumsy - not 5 star quality. I was told that this was Honolulu and to drink tap water when I asked about bottled water for our room. I had to keep asking for bottled water, which is complimentary, but forgotten in our room more than twice. My other requests (bath products, champagne in room on arrival) were not carried out accurately. They didn't refill the bath products and when they did the turn down service, they removed the dirty bath mat but did not replace it. We often stay at the Mandarin in Tokyo where the service is simply perfect. Lots of kids in the pool which I didn't expect but at least all of the parents were extremely attentive and polite to us.
Staff was very professional and catered to every need View is slightly obstructed below the 17th floor but still has amazing sunsets, everything else was perfect
The staff was wonderful and the Mai Tai bar was a great place to sit and watch the sun go down. Rooms were very comfortable This place is expensive, it really helps to be in the mindset that you aren't bargain hunting when you stay here. If you are here in peak season and want to take advantage of beach chair or umbrella rentals you may want to book them before you are onsite.
The hotel itself is quite beautiful. Though there is a very small pool, the pool deck is very comfortable and private. There is a fabulous view of Diamond Head on the beach. It's also not a mega hotel, so the number of people wasn't too overwhelming. The delicious muffins were a very nice touch, as well as the staff attention on the pool deck. Great location. Our room seemed small. There were too many reasons we had to call for help, including repairs to the room and keys not working. All resolved, but annoying. I don't think a hotel of this caliber should be having these kind of problems. The price tag is very steep and I wasn't convinced it was worth it.
Have dreamed of staying at the Royal Hawaiian for many years. The vacation more-than lived up to expectations. The adjacent mall and food court provided entertainment, shopping and reasonable meal choices. Mid-week was peaceful and serene. By the weekend the place was filling up with lots of tourists. Can't believe how many people were in Waikiki in general.
Location is tops, literally the best part of Waikiki Beach fronts the hotel. Amazing history, second only to the Moana Surfrider. Very romantic, but not much stuff to do for kids. AC in historic wing could be better. Pool is very small. Not sure why families bring kids here, they'd be much happier at one of the bigger resorts (including the Sheraton right next door).
Really good rooms and service. The gym was not good!
Excellent location for beach access, shopping and dining.
My girlfriend and I agree that The Royal Hawaiian is our go-to hotel for our stay-cations. We LOVE it there. It's hard to even consider other local hotels. The staff, the facilities, the service, and the way that the hotel feels secluded even though we're in the middle of Waikiki... there's so much to love about this place. This is our second year in a row staying here, and we'll definitely be back. Mahalo to everyone there for continuing to impress us. This space intentionally left blank. :-)
on the beach They charge for a beach chair 45.00 daily. very crowded at pool and pool is very small.
Though we were in the heart of Waikiki, it did not feel like we were anywhere near the hustle and bustle that is the Waikiki of today. It truly felt like a getaway. Service was stellar, the staff was friendly and attentive, the setting and atmosphere can't be beat. You've spoiled us; we can never stay in another Waikiki hotel. TRH is the one for us. Minor gripes about cleanliness. Found a charm and a bobby pin left by previous room occupants, and toilet had a few hairs and spots also from previous occupants.
Décor of main hotel was impressive however the waterfront tower that we stayed in was less than impressive. Without the oceanview it would rank average to poor. Pool attendant was rather rude.
The beach the ambiance Everything else
Historic, iconic hotel, still the best Nothing
Only a block from Waikiki Beach. Nice clean hotel with friendly staff. The swimming pool did not look very clean.
Nothing Mac 247
Nothing Room service was inedible, room was tiny, rude staff, further from the beach and activities than expected, overpriced, THE Smallest pool. Additionally when I asked where the pool was the concierge replied "the pool is for guests only" assuming I just wandered off the street or something. Overall just rough stay. Definitely would not recommend.
Loved the staff, very friendly. Location was conducive to getting around Waikiki, and picking up buses around town. Zip car located across the street. Great views on either side of the hotel. Free continental breakfast and internet were very nice plusses. Gym is pretty lackluster. Not the worst I've seen, but, could have been better. Though, they did say new equipment was incoming, so, may be better now. Wifi was a little spotty in the guest rooms.
Hotel is two short blocks away from Waikiki Beach. Very convenient location. Only specific complaint was the lack of sound proofing. We were on a low floor and heard all the street noise as well as noise from surrounding rooms.
Room was clean and fresh. Liked the available beach towels and the children enjoyed the pool in the evening. one block to the beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Resturant was ok, typical of hotel restaurants, would recommend going out for better food. Good for family in need of quick food. Breakfast pancakes are huge for one child (adult menu). Found free wifi slow, not much faster when we paid for 24 hours.....
Valet parking only. Also it just wasn't anything close to what I was expecting when I booked a four star hotel.
Only stayed one night and spent most of our time out, as you might imagine......but the time we did spend in the hotel was great.....the staff and facilities were excellent!!! Would definitely refer you to a friend.......
room service was pricy and was not great only complaint 200 bucks was only worth 30
I found the hotel itself and the staff and rooms very good. Large tv and a nice little balcony and large bathroom are above average for most hotels. Hotel I found did not match up to the exterior picture and is so very different from the other local Hilton. It is away from the beach and in a busy road traffic area away from attractions. Ocean view room is from a distance over parking lots and between buildings. In room WiFi is about $10 a day and no buffet breakfast or bathrobe.
Location. Great business center. No free WiFi
We stayed from Friday to Monday and it was the perfect setting for relaxing and being treated well. We spent most of our time on the lanai so that we could soak up the Diamond Head and ocean view. The nightly music at House Without A Key was audible from there as well. We love everything about Halekulani!!!
the staff know us by our last names and they are very friendly and professional. Ture aloha spirit. When I asked for hot water the first day, the second day they gave me an electric pot so that I can hot water anytime. Excellent in attending to details and very sensitive to guess' needs. It's pricy, but you will feel like a king staying there. Excellent location but not noisy. The room is spacious and the amenities are top of the class. I even ran into a few movie stars there.
Great to get away from it all and have the satisfaction of beingm taken care of at all times, moose mcgilicuddy's is a great palse to relax of lewers St.
We stayed for 7 night's this Aug 2009 it was one of the best places we have stayed at .The service is top notch and the people really care about your satisfaction while your there. The buffet in the morning is a can't miss great food and service. We are already planing our return trip in the very near future. We also booked a privite island tour while we were there through the hotel and it was fantastic . We went to places you would not normally see through a regular circle island tour this is one I would recommened to everyone if you can afford it!! Anthony was our driver and he shared the island culture and some hidden places on the island it was great we were out for over 6 hour's and saw the entire island. Be prepaired it is expensive but if you want the best you have to pay for it. Enjoy!!
A beautiful hotel situated right on the ocean. The views of the water and Diamond Head are fantastic, and the proximity to restaurants, shops and other things to do is terrific. If you just want to lounge by the pool, the chairs are very comfortable and the staff incredibly helpful. The service overall is simply out of this world. They can help with any kind of arrangement, from rental cars to running and hiking options. The rooms are beautiful and sitting out on the patio was a great way to end the day. We absolutely loved our stay in paradise!
The reviews I've read did not do it sufficient justice.... This Impeccable, immaculate, unique facility with it's extremely extraordinary, phenomenal hosting was superb. I recommend this place to every and any one who wants quality....7 stars and two thumbs up :I)
This is an amazing hotel. Georgeous, and classical all at the same time. If you can't afford to stay there, at least stop by and have a cocktail at sunset!
Beautiful hotel, excellent location. Would definitely recommend Halekulani for luxury and vip service.
We can only say wonderful things about the Halakulani Hotel. It is beautiful: from the rooms to the gardens, to the wall-less reception desk, and common areas. The food in the restaurant, The House Without A Key, and room service were superb. From our room it appeared the waves were breaking under the hotel. What a georgeous optical illusion. But...the best part was the people and the service they provided. We were always greeted warmly and our name was always used. Every question was answered. For example, we admired a flower in the garden and asked what was its name at the concierge desk. Flora is certainly not their specialty and they appologized for their ignorance. About an hour later we receive a knock on our door and the anser was delivered in a folder with a 10 page print out on the flower in question. We loved the little gift left for us each night after room service turned down or bed and the welcoming gift when we arrived of the chocolates and fresh fruit. I hav...
Breakfast buffet is a little poor considering its cost $30 per person
Aloha, We stayed at the Halekulani for a week in January 2009. The service was consistently excellent. Wait staff, bell boys, concierge, maids, room service - every single employee we encountered went way above and beyond to make sure our needs were met, and then some. That said, the hotel rooms and furnishings were something of a disappointment. The decor seemed tired and worn, and even the mid-range rooms were small. On the whole, the hotel interior seemed to have seen better days, and would not compare favorably to hotels on the mainland at less than half the price. Still, the service and the food made up for that deficiency, so we still felt like we got our money's worth. We would absolutely return to the Halekulani, were we to visit Oahu again. However, our next visit to Hawaii will probably be to one of the other islands, simply because the town and its architecture, like the Halekulani's interior, seem to hold on to their glory days of the 60's and 70's, maybe through inerti...
Nice views and great location in Waikiki. Not much going on at night or at the pool. Not even music at the pool.
Being charged resort fees at the hotel when I was told in my reservation / confirmation email there were none.
THE BEACH ACCESS, FAMILY FRIENDLY, AND LOCATION. THIS WAS ONE OF THE VACATIONS OUR FAMILY HAS HAD.
Location, restaurants, room, pool, hot tubs Price
The beach and the warm ocean breezes The service was excellent. Traffic and congestion in Honolulu.
Excellent stay overall.
Located right on the beach with plenty of activities avail. Much more secluded and private compared to downtown. I think this location is more upscale compared to the other Outrigger Beach. We did have a great view of the pool and could leave the door open for the lani then listen to the nightly entertainment. Everything to eat and shop is in walking distance. They were very welcoming upon arrival with a cool towel and a mango drink. The staff is very accomodating and friendly. This is for sure my go-to place in Waikiki. The only think I could say.... Would be the servers poolside. I gave him my money and it took about 15/20 mins before he came back with my drink.... I ended up going to the bar myself the rest of my stay and the bartenders were excellent, friendly, quick, and much better.
Key location to other touristy areas Way too much emphasis on Timeshare resort purchase!
The room was very nice and the comfortable. We ate at the Kani Ka Pila Grill 2 evenings and for 1 breakfast. Everything we ate was very good and the service was good. The Mai Tais were awesome. Be sure to go for Happy Hour, great food and drink prices with live entertainment. There is more live entertainment in the evenings. We heard 3 different groups and all were excellent. We were disappointed in the Shore Bird Restaurant. The mai tais were so good at the grill that we ordered them here and were very disappointed. We regretted ordering the buffet. It was okay but not for what we paid (even considering island prices. Can only hope ordering off the menu would be better. It is very difficult to walk in the water in front of the hotel, water shoes are highly recommended. we later learned that just down the beach it was a sandy bottom. Wish someone had shared that with us,
Valet service, Maint, check-in was great. Didnt like the room too much...had cityview...but not city just a wall ..also was on 3rd floor.
King size bed, quiet/clean room, n location perfect walking distance yo beach n shops
I liked everything. The room was beautiful, the view was spatscular and the staff was always friendly. I did not plan on all the hotel and parking fees and the front desk was able to work with me by signing me up for the club membership and giving me a military discount. I will deffeintly be coming back and reffering everyone to this Hyatt!
It has pretty nice view and close to beach. I booked the room which has king bed and ocean view. But when I visited hotel there was no room of right that. I heard that my wife and I gotta stay 2 single bed inspite of we were in honey-moon. Staff in hotel told me "We do NOT guarantee the room type whatever I booked the room via Kayak." I claimed 3 times but nothing changed. Finally we spent more money($25 per night) to upgrade king-bed room. I wanna say u guys going to stay this hotel "They do NOT guarantee the room type."
We liked the location on Kalakaua Ave. across from Waikiki beach and walking distance to restaurants, shops and entertainment. The pool is small for the size of the resort but we had the beach so we made it work for ourselves.
Everything That we had to leave so soon haha
Nice and clean modern bathroom Beds were just awful and uncomfortable... Spa was not a high value experience
I liked the fact that the view for the room we had was pretty comforting. We were able to see the ocean and close to the other shops. It was walking distance from many restaurants and overall me and my other half had a great time. I didn't like the fact that there wasn't a microwave. However there was an alternative to make hot water using their coffee/tea machine. But that's minor compared to some other hotels we've been in.
The bathroom had a bidet! Noise, overpriced, busy, the shops on site staffing was unfriendly, too service food was horrible and they only serve till pm
Perfect facility for people who do not want to stay in Waikiki
Private beach means it is never overcrowded. Friendly, professional staff. Dolphin Lagoon a must experience for kids. Big, comfortable room with comfortable bed, nice bath amenities. All toilets have a bidet, which is a nice surprise. Beautiful grounds and atmosphere. Above average humidity for this time of year. We were told it was due to the El Nino from winter. Small pool (and number of chaise lounges) that can get crowded quickly. Food from the Seaside Grill and Plumeria is overpriced and okay, at best. Drinks overpriced, but tastes great.
Kahala is located close enough to the city action yet far enough away where it's remote. Though the pool area was relatively small, it was never crowed. The dolphin lagoon and sea turtle exhibit was quite amazing. Beach was also gorgeous and calm. No complaints about the Kahala. Would definitely visit again. Wish there was good snorkeling right around there but that's asking for too much!!
It was an amazing holiday, the staff were so friendly & welcoming. The room well laid out & everything extemely comfortable. The restaurants we tried were exceptional.
Great hotel when traveling with kids. I could eat breakfast and keep an eye on them as they were making sand castles. No beach on Waikiki would be this safe for kids as they're too crowded. The mattress was just awful!
The staff and growns are amazing The dolidpin and turtle tanks, way to small for them to live
The dolphin experience! Shopping! Need more buses to shops
No doubt, the best place to stay around the Diamond Head; dolphins living just next to the swimming pool being one of the unique "staffs" of the stay.
Overall very gd!! Infinity pool was perfect! Our room card was not working eventhougn we have not rven checked out. So we wasted our time wating security and got new card etc..
View, location, pools, spa options
The line to check in/out was very long.
We stayed in an ocean view room. The view from our room and the pool was lovely. Great room service. Soft linen. Nice tv. Room is just ok for the price. Infinity pool for adults only. Internet connectivity in and out.
The adults only infinity pool. Amazing!!!! 10/10 The location 10/10 This is my second time staying here after visiting 2 years ago with a friend. The most trip with my fiancè. The price seems expansive however I can assure you it's definitely worth it. The pool and location best in Waikiki. We had a standard city view room. And the room was a decent size with all standard features. The location and adults only pool, make this the best hotel I've stayed at. They also have a great kids pool if traveling with a family, with slides. Loved everything.
- Interior design and grounds right on the beach - Adults-only pool - Friendly, professional service - Great hotel entrance - High speed elevators - Rooms were clean and good, but not luxurious - Resort charge of $31/day seemed steep for wi-fi usage - Breakfast buffet of $28/person was overpriced for the quality
Even though it was only 1 night. It was amazing! I've stayed at the Sheraton Waikiki before and each time it just keeps getting better and better.
Adults only Pool. Beautiful room. Great Bar service at pool. drunk lady from Chicago in Pool.
Great last minute stay here! I was really bummed that on the day we checked out, we couldn't use the pool at all. Didn't get to spend a lot of time there, because check in the day before was not until 3pm.
The hotel is great. It is clean with a friendly staff and located very conveniently. My only complaint and my warning for folks booking here would be that the price is definitely not what you see. I booked my rooms on Kayak and paid in full at booking. When I got to the hotel I was told that there was a $30/ day + tax charge for staying in the hotel. To self park in the hotel parking garage is $35/day or you can valet park for $37/day. The additional $65+/day adds up quickly. Just a heads up. Otherwise the hotel was lovely.
Location, Bar and restaurants, hotel layout. Parking and resort fee add over $60/day.
Nice location and only steps to beach!! Lots of activities and shops. Bathroom was not properly cleaned on arrival. :(
All of it
Close to beach and multiple shops and dining. Rooms could use microwave
Terrific location, terrific service
- proximity to beach - known hotel chain - based on the positive reviews and high price, I thought this would be better; - first time to Honolulu - I thought the location would be better; - move on - there's lots of better choices
Closeness to the beach When we arrived to our room, the city view was a view of the parking garage, actual a parked car was about 3 feet from our window. It was NOT a city view which I booked. When we called the front desk, we were advised they were completely booked and had no rooms available elsewhere. (We looked online and it did indicate there were rooms available for the night in a better location.) We were told we would be upgraded to a partial ocean view, but not until the next night. Also, there is an additional $30 charge per night for staying at that location, we were not advised of that until we were checking in. We also had to pay an additional $47 per day for valet parking which we also were not advised of until we checked in. The rooms are run down and carpets are old. In the high traffic areas the carpet had creases in spots, enough to cause us to trip. We had a negative encounter with one of your valets, we lost the valet ticket that was on the key, when we returned, they made a big deal of it, told us that we should have kept it on the key ring. Not good customer service especially after charging $47 per day!!!. This is a Marriott Resort and we booked it because of the name and our expectations were not even remotely met... Marriott should evaluate this location, both the desperate need of renovation and some of the customer service. If it's not going to be renovated soon, then charging appropriate hotel/motel rates and advertise appropriately.
I enjoyed checking out of this hotel and telling them how I felt about our stay I liked none of this experience
The location is acceptable and very close to the beach. Depending on where your room is located you might be impacted by the pool activity and noise. I didn't like the fact that you get a room rate online, but when you arrive there are extra fees (Resort Fee $30.00 a day, and if you valet park a vehicle, it is $37.00 a day). The fees are not necessarily hidden, they are just not posted on the daily rate schedule. You find out when you are checking in. I have stayed in Honolulu many times and these fees are normal for most of the hotels. Hence, it would be better to show all of the rates and fees that are associated with your stay, so that you can make an intelligent choice in your selection of a hotel,
I liked that it was in the center of all the action and right by the beach
The view was amazing.
I booked this room for my elderly parents for their first vacation in Hawaii. Paid for a partial ocean view room, and got only a slice of ocean. They were given the worst room possible in that category. AC unit outside room was extremely loud which made their sleep miserable. I feel sorry for them and regret booking this hotel. But the damage was done.
The updated room was very nice. We stayed on the 37th floor and we had a fabulous view of Diamond Head and the beach. The beach is literally right in front of the hotel. The location is great. It is within walking distance of everything you need. This hotel is a great value for the price. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. The lobby needs to be updated. It was clean but the decor looked like it was from the 80's. They need to update it like the rooms. The elevators were a bit of a hassle. There were 4 of them and one was not working. The ones that were working seemed to have a mind of their own at times.
Location! Great view and clean Outdated decor is easily overlooked for a clean low priced room
It was so close to the beech and shops
Everything! Especially the Beach/Waterfront! It was walking distance from the hotel and EVEYTHING else...Love it. I booked this trip as a father's day present for my husband and to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary...loved everything! No much....
When you go to Wikipedia and look up Waikiki, there is a picture of THIS hotel! If you book an Ocean-front room on a higher floor in the Eastern-most tower, you'll have the classic view most can only dream of from your balcony or even inside the room. Besides the obvious beach across the street, within a few blocks walk, you'll find dozens of restaurants and high-end shops, as well as the Honolulu bus transit line. Timely response to the only need we presented was commendable. Wifi worked well, also. Room service neglected to replace the coffee pod on one of the days the room was cleaned. We didn't notice until the following morning when it was time to make coffee. When visiting the fitness room, one of the two elliptical trainers had a broken display. This made it impossible to use in any mode other than manual.
Love every second of my stay. The staff was very accommodating. Whether you're a visitor from another state or country, they treated every guest equally. And we were visiting from another island. My favorite was the huge Aquarium and the swimming Mermaid.
I liked the location of the hotel and the area around it. There was a lot of people staying whhich even though it had multiple elevators it took a long time to get from floor 1 to 31.
For the money not a nice hotel room. I would not consider it a 3 star hotel, more like a 2.
Location was amazing. Staff were very friendly! Pool is not the nicest.
The staff were incredible and helped so much. Our flight was leaving late at night and they let us use a hospitality room to shower and get cleaned up before we left for the air port. The staff at the restaurants on property were fantastic, epically Omar at The Beach House. It's a quiet gem in crazy Waikiki. Nothing.
The pool is very small, opens late and closes early. The beach umbrellas $50 a day and also close too early. One or the other should be open at least till sunset.
I loved it all. Room was comfortable. Great location. Beautiful hotel.
From the moment I walked in the door, I fell in love with the old beach vibe. The understated luxury just oozed from the place. The staff was amazing and always attentive to our needs from dinner plans at check in, offering a hospitality suite after check out because we had a late flight. Truly amazing experience and 100% worth the price tag!
The food was excellent The bed was very comfortable The room was very clean The front desk staff were on top of it The room was over-priced for its size and location/view The hostess at the restaurant told us we had to wait 30 min for lunch sitting but didn't tell us we should have made a reservation so when we lined up at noon she told us we'd have to wait another 30 min Too much furniture in my hallway. Not elegant
The location and retention of the old architectural features in the lobby. The rooms were average at best for a Westin. Everything was a bit dated.
Pretty much Everything! Pool and beach seating was very limited
Everything was first class, from check in to check out. Very nice to have the complimentary Beach Club. It's a no hassle, take care of guest resort. Once inside and on beach, you do not know the hustle and bustle of Waikiki exists
Great location with great views. iPad in the the room was a cool touch Considering the cost of getting a room at Moana Surf, I expected the room facilities could be upgraded (ie...shower and other parts of bathroom
When we first pulled into the valet, I reached for my bag out of the back of the vehicle and was told, "Please let me get that. You shouldn't have to lift a finger here at the Trump." That sense of service and attention to detail defined every aspect of our stay. The facilities and service were top notch.
Location, cleanliness,amenities,value No dislikes
Great location on the beach. Some of the staff tried but didn't know basic things. Elevators have a strange call system and are very slow and crowded.
Excellent location. Nice that there is an available laundry available. Decent size rooms. Friendly staff. Not crazy about Duke's. Mediocre food and service. Pool area is on the small side.
Smack dab on the beach in the best part if Waikiki. Staff was super friendly. Pillows were the best. Pool area too small.. Difficult to get a chair. Piol, hot tub closed too early. Bar so crowded difficult to get a place to sit.
Comfortable, clean, and excellent location. Hotel restaurants are good and have a great view of Waikiki beach. The gym is almost nonexistent.
The staff was amazing!!! Everyone was willing to go the extra mile to help out. The location is amazing and in the heart of Waikiki! Wifi Connectivity is limited to 3 devices and customer support cannot change this. The lack of a full bath tub was disappointing.
Centrally located hotel with a very popular restaurant/bar located on the ground level. This is a very busy hotel that lacks a "real" lobby. Some people might not even notice this, but it may the stay feel odd, sort of unofficial since the only time we interacted with any staff was when we checked in.
Courtesy room to be used after you check out (30 minutes on a first come first serve basis). Large and comfortable room. Service from Staff was outstanding. Daily parking fee, breakfast was just OK. Slow and small elevators.
Staff is super friendly. Suites are roomy and having separate living room is convenient when partner wants to rest. Market street shopping and numerous restaurants are right out the door of hotel. Beach and other resorts are across the street. We have stayed here six times and will return again.
Its location was excellent - easy walking distance to key city attractions
The Modern is off the beaten trail and appreciated how relaxing the atmosphere was. The pool area is beautiful and calm, and if you need to relax further the sunset pool is just the ticket. All restaurants and bars are excellent in the Modern too.
Staff was excellent Beds could have been more comfortable
Love it. Honolulu is known for old resorts and hotels. Modern's building isnt really new, however, all the internals have been renovated so that it feels "modern". Great stay for young hip couples. Parking is a little expensive. $35 and they charge you everything you get your car in and out. Other than that, we had an awesome experience.
Beautiful hotel. Study bar is nice with good cocktails, rooms are nice and housekeeping is good. Difficult to find space at pools and they don't have chairs on the beach. During peak times like Christmas / NY it makes it tough to secure space. Service at the restaurant by the pool was very slow. Painfully slow... I would return but challenged to stay there again @ $500/ night unless everything is perfect.
The spa is awesome. We spent 2 nights here, it doesn't worth the money. The hotel in Wakiki is generally expensive, but if you want a 4 star experience, choose hotels like Sheraton or Westin. Need to pay extra for wifi, parking, even water after first night. The room is quite small for a 4 star standard.
The hotel is nice. The views are pretty. The staff were courteous and helpful. It's clean. The location downtown is close to most everything. It's not on the beach, which isn't a deal breaker, but I wasn't feeling the "Hawaiian vibe". It just wasn't there. Everything closes super early, even the hotel bar and it's all sub par, nothing too fabulous. I guess the word I could use that would fit this hotel is generic. It's not holiday inn generic, but it's definitely not worth the price, the parking fees, or the resort fee. I didn't feel like I really fit in too well either. If you're a tourist to Hawaii and you'll barely spend time at the hotel, this is the one if you're willing to pay the price. I also didn't feel like I fit in here. If you're coming from Japan though, you'll fit right in.
It is a fantastic facility. I enjoyed my stay Nothing I didn't like
Close to everything in Waikiki but not in the midst of the resorts Dirty stain/spot on floor in bathroom next to tub was there every day even after cleaning. All else was nice.
Out of waikiki, room views
The hotel was under renovation but the staff was so amazing. It totally made our stay. Will surely stay in the future.
Everyone on the staff is super helpful and friendly. The rooms are immaculate and the view is amazing With the Renovation Discount it was about Half price maybe even less than half and absolutely an great value Nothing
front desk staff, courteous professional bar staff, main lobby friendly helpful
Whenever we asked for service, (maintenance, engineer, housekeeping), they came within 5 minutes.
The rooms are well appointed for Hawaii, location is fantastic and close to everything you need in Waikiki. Construction noise was a pain. They start work from 7am so couldn't sleep in. The wait for the lifts was also slow but not too bad if your willing to have a chat with some of the other guests.
Ocean view + staff awkward bathroom too ight
Staff couldn't be more friendly or helpful. Very accommodating. 1/2 block from Beachwalk Room smelled musty, other guests smoked in their nonsmoking rooms.
Proximity to beach and shopping Request for a delux ocean view prime room with king size bed was not handled well. Room with king size bed was not available on arrival even though room was booked in February 2010.
The hotel is at the middle of Waikiki. It's not right by the beach front but less than 5 mins walk. The hotel is very clean. The bed and pillows is clean. Kamaina free parking Slow internet connection
Friendly staff and close to the beach.
Service was great and staff very friendly and helpful. Not beachfront and the room I was in was a little bit in need of an update.
Good location, comfortable bed, very good location easy access to the beach and lots shops and restaurants around. The hotel staffs are friendly and helpful. The water of the shower is a little bit small, but is ok.
it is convenient as it s close to the beach and the shoppings and the restaurants/ food court. The hotel is clean and nice/ comfy. THe staff is attentive and show that they care. Good words about William who works at the conceirge who was really helpful and was willing to help us in many ways. I really appreciated his help. really good that they offer free internet use. the toilet is too small and abit squashy.
Nice room, nice hotel. Cocktails in lobby in the late afternoon. We were told at reception that they had stopped including free parking, even though our reservation paper said our price included free parking. It was resolved in our favor then and there.
Close to beach - staff tried to be helpful. Location fine for shops. The loading bay for neighbouring hotel was next door resulting in lorries parking and unloading throughout the night. Very noisy indeed.
Staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable!
The staff were very helpful. We had our room upgrade due to availability indeed. The location is perfect either to go to the beach or shopping. The lobby and the pc rooms were very cold. The difference to the outside was unpleasant.
