Good place. Being renovated right now. Call before you book to see if they're finished.
The inn was clean and it was less expensive than staying in San Francisco. The train is way too close and there are a lot of homeless people and sex workers around. The hotel is located in a strange area that has nice waterfront restaurants but also has a porn theatre and sketchy bars.
Very clean. Friendly staff The price! It was described as a boutique hotel. Hah! A motel without the convenience of a refrigerator and microwave.
Service at checking and checkout is outstanding. The desk person was so friendly, offering additional information. That made our stay more enjoyable. Finding ice was tricky.
clean there are good restaurants in the area and a great coffee shop the subway station is not too far away if you are on the first floor, you can hear the people upstairs the tv was not in the best working condition - took forever to change a channel
Our trip to jack london was great.the location was perfect there were plenty to do right outside our hotel.rooms where clean and bed where better than expected.front desk was the only down side we waited 1 hours because our rooms where not ready and we gotno apologies. Food next door at the butternut was great
The location was perfect! A couple steps to the water front where you can board the fairy to San Francisco. Staff was friendly check in and out was easy, bed was very comfortable. room was a tad outdated but was still very clean and nice. Hidden parking charges and fees
AJ was very accommodating and super helpful by getting us ferry times and recommending restaurants to eat. Extremely friends front desk staff. Room was very nice and we were pleasantly surprised to find a microwave and fridge in the room. We go into the Amtrak terminal late and walked to the hotel, not very far but still a little scary. Some people just asking for money.
No fault of the inn, but if you can't sleep through train whistles all night long, you won't like it. Otherwise no problems or complaints.
Cheaper alternative to the more expensive waterfront hotels in the area. Great food at the diner next door. Parking cost $15/day. You can hear people walking above your room if you're on the 1st floor.
This is a simple place with a nice courtyard and pleasant rooms. Nothing fancy but good. Central location. The furniture was a bit cramped for the space.
Pool area was too noisy our room was located right above it.
Location, Breakfast buffet, room Check in process : Brittany did not communicate very well and it resulted in some misunderstandings about our reserved room.
A safe spot in oakland
The check-in folks were friendly. Your description of having rooms on the bay side or a 'view of the city' was very deceiving. The view of the city was a view of interstate 880, and was incredibly noisy since you're located right on the edge of the interstate. It was the noisiest room I have ever stayed in, and there was no way to get any sleep. The rugs were not clean, and the plumbing in the room was poor.
Great experience! Hotel was clean and well-kept. Rooms were very comfortable. Rooms facing the water were extremely quiet at night. A relief after staying at other hotels in Oakland with lots of street noise. Also a delight to look out at the water in the morning. Beds and desks were comfortable. Staff was generally very helpful. A couple times staff were curt, seemed irritated at doing their jobs. Also, they changed their shuttle service to only pick up and drop off at four locations, instead of anywhere within a three mile radius. The shuttle was still extremely helpful, and this wasn't that big of a deal, but it should have been properly advertised on their website ahead of time.
EVERYTHING! The customer service was outstanding, the rooms were large and very clean. Awesome location (it's worth the extra $ to have a water view room). I liked that they offer a free shuttle to Jack London Square. Parking at this hotel is FREE (unlike some other hotels nearby). The pool and bar is really nice, too. There wasn't anything I disliked about this hotel. I will definitely stay if I'm in the area again.
The staff was pleasant and the shuttle service was a nice convenience. Initial room assigned was already occupied. Hallways had an unpleasant odor. Building, rooms and furnishings all seemed in need of updating.
The hotel was very clean with friendly staff. The atmosphere felt comfortable and safe. No complaints at all.
Staff was AMAZING. They bent over backwards to help me. They had free shuttle service to Downtown Oakland! Place was clean with delicious, free breakfast. Hands down, though, it was staff that made this place excellent! Nothing. I will stay here again. Best hotel in Oakland!
Staff was great took care of us and where on point which all the little details Needed more shampoo and conditioner!!...fit under my boob
Not safe !!! Had to park down 2 blocks in parking garage !!! No hotel parking like listing said !!! No deals like we were PROMISED FROM KYACK !!! You could tell our ROOM WASNT CLEAN...THERE WERE USED TOWELS EVERYWHERE AND WHEN WE CALLED TO COMPLAIN ALL THEY SAID WAS HUH THATS STRANGE !!!! Lame not worth it if your looking to go to a show and dont want to worry about your stuff...THEN DONT STAY HERE !!!! I work at hotels and this was by far one of our worst experince !!!
I loved the room and the space in the room. When I walked through the hallway it smelled so good....awesome experience!
It's been years since I've stayed at Jack London Square. It's definitely gone up a step. Waterfront Hotel is an easy access location - both for driving and the train. Great restaurants both right in the Square and a short stroll away. The rooms are clean and comfortable and it was surprisingly quiet even with all the events during our stay. The ONLY drawback was the hallway maze to our room. If we just followed the numbers we eventually got there...but no two paths were the same. Our coffee maker was broken but they delivered hot coffee to us immediately on request. The TV was also out but the cable was replaced while we were out for dinner. Perfect service.
The only thing we liked is its location, right next to Jack London Square. The bathroom is tiny and outdated. no tub for my children. Advertised "city view" was actually view of the back alley/parking lot. $25 valet parking was mandatory, no self parking. not going to recommend or stay there again.
There is a shower only, no bath. The wall is thin. The noise were heared from the adjacent rooms or the passage. The room is narrow.
The room was incredibly dirty and the beds uncomfortable. To be specific there was an unflushed toilet with something not so pleasant upon our arrival into our room. Completely unacceptable. The television did not work either. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again.
Balcony, view, color, staff, proximity to office. told it'd be $20 for valet, but valet told me $25. I was charged $20. train sucked.
Lovely evening meal at restaurant having a limo called for us when we had asked for a cab!
The location is nice, good restaurants within walking distance in the area. The staff was pleasant and helpful and the wine & cheese hour was a nice touch. Everything was great with the exception of the thin walls, which unfortunately makes it a deal breaker for me.
Clean rooms, close to downtown Oakland, waterfront views. Thin walls and ceiling, could hear everything our upstairs neighbors were saying and doing, including peeing into the toilet! We were placed in a weird room right off the lobby and could hear people arriving and checking in. Was not worth the money we paid.
Everything was perfect. Except the breakfast at the attached restaurant was fairly expensive and the service was not superbre, but the hotel itself is a true pleasure to stay in.
The location in Jack London Square, fairly spacious rooms Unexpected noise of the Amtrack as it passed very close to hotel
The staff did a wonderful job. very friendly Parking and the cost to park no breakfast for guess
I like the fact that the hotel was closed to everything that we needed from restaurants, bars and drugstores. The hotel staff were very friendly from the valet attendant to the front desk. Our flight got delayed and they were able to accommodate our check-in time. We understand that parking is an issued around the city but we thought it was expensive for the hotel to charge $45 for valet parking and there are a lot of homeless people walking around. I wouldn't walk around the city by yourself at night.
Es war sauber. Der Preis war unverschämt. Die Lage so lala und eher laut. Parken und Frühstück teuer.
The valet parking service was too expensive and too slow.
We were given no choice but a "smoking" room. The smell was disgusting. The room was on the ground floor with no window screen so keeping the window open was not an option. The waitress at a nearby restaurant warned us it was a dangerous neighborhood.
The room was clean but a little small. The bed small for two persons and the current of water for the bath tub was really slow. The rate of the hotel is kind of pricy.
overall facility was above par. Pool, spa, continental bfast and computer/printer area met expectations. Biyonka was very helpful and smoking hot. My truck had all windows when I woke up in Oakland. Room pics online didn't match. Someone took the pics with a gopro
It was cheap, available and not too scary. The front desk personnel were helpful. Room was clean. Heavy bleach smell in lobby. Free shuttle runs every 30 minutes so keep that in mind when getting ready for flight time.
I book this room last minute and was looking for value. I was visiting SF and wanted a place that was affordable. I went to school in Berkeley, so I somewhat knew this general area. Room's in SF were pushing roughly 150 a night not including parking. I booked this room for about 80 bucks and free parking! The room overall was nice. I was not looking for anything 5 star, but I sure as hell was not going to stay at some dump. 80 bucks for a place to stay the night seemed just fine to me. Also, this was a really nice excuse to explore a little bit of Oakland. =D
It was clean. Everything worked. The staff was not very friendly. We were put in a smoking room on our second night when we had asked for a non smoking room.
Simple but good breakfest, good price and next to San Francisco and friendly staff. I was booked a non smoking room but the room has a hard smoke smell.
Ants in the bathroom, flies in the room... area was not nice and not very safe. Wound not go there again. TV was not clear. Basic cable only (at best).
Staff was extra nice late at night Hot tub ice cold after a long day drive. Not able to get on wifi perhaps bandwidth
The room was immaculate. The people who do their cleaning deserve the best pay. Rough looking characters hanging about outside the rooms and over the railing made me nervous.
My stay at your hotel was great, the room was clean and tidy, the towels were all arranged like flowers. The internet was fast and free. Great place to stay, highly recommended, value for money.
Very nice under every point of view..the room, the amenities, the pool, great breakfast and varied too. We could finally sleep well, great beds.
No cooking utensils or dishes in kitchenette
The hotel was not clean. There were no luggage carts. The housecleaning staff came a day early and told Mrs. Sutti she had to be out at 4 PM ( ! ? ! ) after it was confirmed the Suttis were leaving on Oct. 1. Very poor service. We will not use this hotel again.
I wish I could pick out something positive to say...the one employee Kristina at the desk was friendly and at least the door locked so we had somewhere to put our stuff and be out of the rain. The rest of it was like a bad joke. Here is the laundry list: the location is creepy, you can see an enclave of homeless (and everything they were up to) under the tangle of overpass from an entire side of the building and we were harassed for money every time we went out. The traffice noise is awful. We were given a smoking room when non smoking was requested and necessary. The smoke detector was right over the bed and had multiple bright flashing lights over us all night and had gaps all around the mounting and appeared ready to fall out of the ceiling. The mattress was better than the floor, barely. The hotel was out of shampoo. The towels had stains and looked dingy. We got ONE partial roll of toilet paper. The shower rod had been replaced and had all the holes left unrepaired in the drywall around where it was previously mounted. The breakfast was a joke, but at least there was coffee. The staff felt mopping the entire lobby at CHECKOUT TIME so it was slick and wet was a smart idea. The staff at the desk during checkout was curt, which is the nicest thing I can say, and never asked how our stay was or if anything had been acceptable...I am not sure WHAT was wrong with the elevators, but if they'd gone any slower they'd be moving backwards...I am sorry, but this place was a joke for the money we spent.
Kitchen was reason we chose site. Our fridge was broken and was not repaired sufficiently for our 3 day stay. Front desk staff helpful but manager was UNRESPONSIVE to multiple phone calls.
the staffs are very friendly and the room is in good and clean condition. the sink is leaking!!!
Staff was very friendly and efficient. The location makes it easy to get onto the Bay Bridge quickly, and decent places to eat are within an easy drive. There were well-lit places to walk our dogs. The room, while not huge, was comfortable and had been recently maintained. No water glasses in the room. One of my dogs found things under the bed that the vacuum cleaner missed, fortunately none of them dangerous. Woodwork in the bathroom could have used a little more frequent cleaning.
Convenient to San Francisco and the East Bay. Nice view of The City and The Bay. Good comp breakfast changes every day.
Overall good experience Parking limited
We asked for ice and got it right away. The bed was comfortable. The walls and floors were so poorly sound insulated that we felt we were living WITH the people next door. We heard every word, every TV program, and every time they flushed their toilet or showered. Luckily, most people were quiet after 10:30 PM. Lastly, for the price we would have expected rooms to be upgraded instead of plastic showers and routine accommodations. Maybe if we had a quieter room, the other elements would not be so troublesome. However, we didn't.
Breakfast was good with decent variety of foods. The week day front desk staff not helpful or friendly.
Eveything! It was really confortable and the environment was really friendly. Totally worth the money!
Convenient locatation, gated parking. The rooms are tired. When you walk in the room its hard to believe that this is a Hilton property. This goes for the mini lobby in each of the satellite buildings. Needs a complete makeover or become a new company line called Hilton dormatory .
I liked the location to oracle arena and the coliseum. What I didn't like was the squeaky floor above. EVERYTIME someone walked in the floor above you could hear it.
Very clean Very comfortable bed and room Close to the airport - good for very early or late flights Convenient shuttle service to the airport and BART station I could print out my boarding pass for free on the lobby computer Compared to other hotels in the area with similar quality, it's very good value Complementary wifi had issues - the signal showed as strong, but I would have to reconnect almost every 30 seconds, and that's not an exaggeration. The device doesn't have this problem with other networks, so the problem seems to lie in the network itself somewhere. There is free Internet in computers in the lobby, and I would recommend using that instead.
Proximity to the airport and the front desk staff was awesome. It was perfect.
Clean large rooms, friendly staff, near airport Nothing
The rooms are extremely dated, and have a very bad smell.
comfort of the sheets hallway carpet was old and the television was not modern
Pickup at car rental and transport to airport
Very convenient to airport. Pick up and delivery to and from airport very timely. Hotel clean and staff personable. Would prefer to have internet access available in all rooms and included in hotel rates. Restaurant staff (waitress and kitchen) is slow and food is fair at best, especially for breakfast.
Proximity to where a concert was occuring.
The staff was very helpful and friendly and the location was perfect for our stay. Unfortunately, we had to pay for parking when we stayed.
Staff cleanliness all good. Overpriced restaurant and bar
Night manager who checked me in was very nice and professional The hallways had a musty smell
Very friendly and accommodating staff at the front desk. I had to drop off our rental vehicle the night before leaving Oakland and they actually came to pick me up from the rental facility to take me back to the hotel. In the morning I caught the hotel shuttle to the airport. The shuttle driver was friendly and helped with everything we wanted to do, even suggesting places we could eat nearby. The free breakfast at the hotel was Fantastic with lots to choose from. The rooms were comfortable with good amenities in the bathroom. There was a strong smell of mothballs in the stairwell and hallway of the back right wing of the hotel where we stayed. That had me scared a little as we came in but the rooms were fine and clean.
The room was great. Did not get to spend too much time in it though. Morning clerk was great! Clerk who checked us in was not in good mood and it really showed. She was very short and seemed like we were bothering her. Others were being given complementary water. We were not. We were unsure where to go in parking lot and building. We were not told of the free breakfast and missed it completely.
Clean and comfortable Way overpriced for this market. Should be $60-$75 a night.
I'm a heavy sleeper but the wafts of cigarette Smoke from the other rooms was pretty bad. How about having smoking floors and non smoking floors like every other hotel? Instead they have smoking rooms next to non smoking rooms.
Overall the room was very comfortable and well decorated. The bathroom has a slight smell but it did not look dirty in any way. There is a restaurant on the premises so that made it easier for me on a business trip to relax and get work done before my meeting. Plenty of parking. Smell in bathroom and they charge for printing from the business center.
Staff try hard to please This was my second state; the two were about a week apart. The first one was good, but there were lots of problems this time. The main one was with the key, which failed repeatedly. Also, I tried to print something in the business center, but it does not have a printer and the one at the desk (which was supposed to be accessed via the business center) also failed.
The room was clean and comfortable The staff was horrible. Didn't seem like they cared at all. Upon check in the lady at counter was watching something on her tablet and continued to watch it while I standed there and waited to be checked in. Totally rude and unprofessional.
Staff was helpful and courteous.
Mother-in-law & I were in a room for the disabled. It was obviously not put together with input from a handicapped person. But it was clean, quiet and comfortable.
I needed to do laundry and the staff was very helpful! I felt so much better traveling with clean clothes! My stay was too short!
Good sheets, bed, pillows, breakfast was very good as well...business center was a life saver!
Badly in need of refurbishing and more concern for patrons, but the place was completely full.
I loved how comfy the beds were, bathrooms could of been a lil bigger for the type of room I stayed in, but it got the job done, lol I didn't like that I needed a separate ticket to get out.
Clean , quite , great location for travel thru Oakland airport , would , stay again Location , cleanliness and friendly staff
2 entrances front and back access to pool. Easy and safe gated parking. Large spacious room for the money. No cons at this time
We didn't' come to vacation, but to have a place to sleep. The hotel was adjacent to the airport, available and safe. We stayed one night. The staff and shuttle service were great. Thank you.
Staff at the front desk was nice and helpful. Park and fly was convenient. Found a cockroach in the room that wanted my sandwich and some of the power outlets didn't work.
This hotel was very close to the airport and had a free shuttle. The rooms appeared clean. Very outdated, did not feel safe, could hear everything neighbors said, seemed more like a pay by the hour place
It was a very confortable Hotel. Very new and clean, bulit few months ago. I will go back for sure if I am in San Francisco. Very close to thwe airport. Very kindly they come to pick me up to the rental car location. GREAT !!!!! NO
Like that it's close to oracle arena and bart system. Staff during day time was super nice and helpful. Thanks Jordan, John, and Jose the driver was great. Didn't like that there was no continental breakfast for us. The restaurant is nice but pricey. Literally there isn't any shops around hotel. You have to take the bart to get anywhere. Good for in and out business but nothing else.
Good price. Clean comfortable, no frills room. Attached to a fantastic country kitchen/soul food spot. When we arrived, they listed off everything they'd advertised that was under maintenance: the elevators, pool, gym, and air conditioner. If they had advertised these conditions in advance, I may still have considered it a good deal for the price but it was rough to get all that news after a long flight.
Front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Door handle didn't work. People living in vans in the hotel parking lot, getting drunk and yelling at each other all night. Bathroom floor was slimy/sticky. Cigarette burns in the comforter Just about everything (dresser, bathroom door, etc...) was broken or nonfunctional. Shower was gross. Toilet didn't flush properly.
Bed was comfortable. Staff was very nice. There were food containers under the bed so can't say they did a good job cleaning the room. The Wi-Fi did not work at all. I was unable to work while I stayed there. I will not book here again.
Very close to great entertainment and downtown. Hotel staff was very accomodating. I was surprise they did not promote the dinner next store
Nice room size, friendly staff, free parking, continental breakfast, great location. Definitely would stay here again Our shower door didn't shut all the way so water leaked out.
Staff (the Hispanic one is good, the black girl was rude) were friendly and does her best to help. 1)The train passes right in front of the hotel, from 6am until 8pm-ish. Blows the horn every single time to warn drivers. 2)Hotel is in serious need of repair. Leaking faucets, damp carpet, ripped bedsheets., bad reception on tv. 3) no ice in the hall way 4) no towels provided until you asked for them
Right across the street from Jack London Square. Next to Everett and Jones, Chicken and Waffles and a half dozen other great restaurants.
Loved the peace and quiet. Didn't have to go far for food. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The sheets weren't fully clean ughh.. Had to have housekeeping change the sheets.
How clean and comfortable it was it felt brand new Nothing
I was incredibly disappointed I'd made a reservation and when I'd arrived they did not have a room for me because they were overbooked. I arrived at midnight that night because I had a late flight in. They did not attempt to contact me to let me know. They paid for me to stay at another Courtyard Marriott that was 45 min away, which created additional challenges for me because it was 60 min in rush hour to my business meeting the next day. I was incredibly disappointed with their practice of overbooking.
The staff was great. Friendly and helpful Didn't like that we had to wait for the shuttle to get us to the airport. Wasn't really their fault as teh taxi they arranged to take us at 4:15AM didn't show up
Water and apples at the lobby. And the free shuttle to airport ect. Street side room was noise with traffic noise.
The only thing that frustrated me was the lack of information about facilities and services. The staff member who checked me in gave very little detail about how things worked because there was a line of people waiting to check in. For example, I didn't know that the shuttle was only available at certain times and that I had to sign up for a time. I didn't know the hours of the cafe, etc. It would be helpful if all of this basic information was given out on a sheet of paper at check in so that I didn't have to keep calling the front desk to figure things out.
The hotel was very clean and the staff was very organized and welcoming.
Sentral beliggenhet og spennende atmosfære
Ideell beliggenhet like ved Campus. Veldig amerikansk frokostutvalg.
Beliggenheten samt verdien det hadde for vårt opphold - nærhet til UC Berkeley. Likte også atmosfæren hotellet hadde.
Dirty with bad beds and pillows
Easy access to and from Coliseum The doors would not close correctly so you had to really pay attention when entering or exiting the room to ensure the door was shut properly
Bumpers that ar
the location was convenient to the airport. the pillows were terrible, the doors to the rooms don't automatically close, you have to pull them shut the last inch or so. the whole place just felt a little scummy. not quite worth the fee that was charged.
Great convenient airport access! If we had to comment on something negative, it would have to be the brochure for take out pizza on the counter. Hands down, worst pizza ever, otherwise our stay was good.
Staff was professional and nice at front desk. Witnessed a drug deal on the street in front of the hotel and was followed by a crackhead begging for money to my car the next morning.
It was near the airport! staff were friendly! they have a shuttle bus to Oakland airport! They told me they didnt get the reservation from booking.com??? sooo , who's fault it is?? hotel or booking.com??? luckily they had rooms available and at the same price i booked.
Rooms are clean and comfortable. Refrigerator in room not working properly. No microwave as advertise. Breakfast could be better. Can add bacon, sausage, fruit. With extend hours: 10:30 or 11:00am
Nice staff, Good rates, convenient location. The room stank of cigarette smoke, and this was supposedly a non-smoking room
Nice pool, spa and exercise facilities. My kids had a blast at the pool - it was nicely heated and they enjoyed it despite the cooler February weather. Our room was below one of the hotel's restaurants. 6am on a sunday morning and isn't a great time to be woken up to the sounds of tables and chairs being moved. It's an old hotel so it's pretty loud. When I checked out they gave me a bit of a discount and said that when we checked in that the front desk should have warned us that our room was loud... they really just shouldn't rent out the rooms or if they do charge less.... but they'd rather put guests in a position where they have to complain to get a discount. Even with the discount if was an expensive weekend that wasn't as restful as you'd expect for the money.
Loved the look of the place from the outside..altho you quickly feel like an inconvenience being shuffled out of the way. The hotel is rich with history and has very nice decor..the room was big, with a big bathroom. The trexk to the room was ridiculous, having to take two elevators and very long walks on different levels while carrying your things. The room floor needed vacuumed, you could feel stuff on the carpet. After we checked in, we left to go get dinner and you can't get out of the gate without a special card given at the front desk. Well guess what- oh, and it cost $30 for this parking privilege.
The Sunday buffet at the Meritage was very good. The lap swimming in the pools and 3 free hours of childcare included in the resort fee was also very nice and an unexpected bonus. Ridiculously overpriced for what it was. $26 resort fee and $30 valet fee on top of over $200/night for a tiny old room that wouldn't even pass muster at a Best Western? The room was awful - outdated, small, old, musty and generally uncomfortable. Noisy from the hallway, the bed was saggy, the comforter stained and 2 adults plus a baby in a crib were way too many to fit in a tiny standard room.
Our oasis on the hill! The Claremont is a special place and I return there whenever I can; the location is central yet private and the staff is friendly, attentive, helpful and genuine. Each staff member, from the housekeeping staff to the manager, smiles and greets guests and is not only ready, but willing, to make your stay enjoyable. When there was an issue at check-in with the room assigned. Frank Flynn quickly and apologetically gave us another room with no question. In chatting with Fracesco (I'm sure I have not spelled his name correctly-my apologies!) in the lobby, we told him we were headed into the city the next day; he not only cautioned us about traffic and crowds in the Golden Gate Park area due to a concert, he recommended alternative areas to visit-and when he saw us a couple of days later, he asked how our trip went! A special shout-out also to Mohammad and Zachary who took care of us for breakfast in the Meritage restaurant-their service standards and guest treatment should be the envy of fine dining establishments everywhere. They made the start of our days happy and pleasant and really made an impact of the pleasure of staying at the Claremont! The charm of an old beauty like the Claremont is also sometimes what makes you miss some things you might find in a newer hotel; the HVAC system can be unreliable and loud, the bathroom does not have an exhaust fan, etc. But having noted that, the graciousness of the wide hallways and high ceilings easily make you overlook those modern facility differences!
Wonderful location. Grand old building which has been well maintained. It had been some years since I last stayed there and the place seemed in better shape than it was.
Stay was great wished new more about it before we got there to enjoy the facilities Food prices were a little high
