The room was great and better than described. Powerful AC/Heat Unit. The Kitchenette had cookware and dishes, a dishwasher, full size fridge, two stovetops, a large coffee maker, large sink, and table for two seperate of the living space. There was a decent sized pull out couch, coffee table, and large desk. Large Closet and fantastic shower pressure. Garden and pool are enclosed from street view. Basketball court and fitness center. Free Breakfast options that were beyond expectation in variety and quality. 4 short blocks on straight line from convention center. I was closer and paying less than most attendees. The employees were the best, though. They checked my bags since I got in for a conference at the Convention Center early, gave me free trolley tokens and advice for touring, easy to talk to, and met all of my needs. Only 4 blocks away Street-side hotel rooms in ANY part of downtown New Orleans can be loud on Friday and Saturdays, and my room was ground floor street side.
Breakfast is awesome and unlimited. They have special events in the evening as well offering the guests snacks.
Spacious, clean rooms, in a great location (very close to Emeril's/the WWII Museum/Harrah's and only a 15 minute walk to the French quarter), at a fantastic price. You could do a lot worse at this price point with not that much more upside. We didn't even take advantage of the gym or free breakfast. We liked it. We weren't expecting to be wowed upon arrival and we weren't. A lot of families stayed, and therefore there was some noise. Nothing unreasonable.
Room size and amenities were great. You could hear the rooms above and next to you.
We had a very good stay, walking distance to convention center and great restaurants in the area. Make sure to call for valet, very slow to retrieve car. Street view side has very loud streetcar traffic.
Great location. Friendly staff. Bugs in the bathroom. Hotel claimed to be making "green efforts" but had inefficient shower heads, toilets, and faucets. Light bulbs are still incandescent!! We call their claims greenwashing...walk the talk.
Not a chain hotel - liked the older hotel style but first impression left us wondering if our room would meet our expectations. Lobby needs a little renovation - paint, new furniture etc
Rude and slow valet Far too costly for the services rendered
Good value comfy beds clean rooms easy walking distance to canal street and river walk areas.
Employees were courteous and happy to answer any questions about the area. Room was emaculately clean and elegant. The restaurant/bar wasn't open, but it was the day after Christmas, so I undersatnd.
My husband and I were only going to be in New Orleans for 1 night. We wanted to stay in a place with charm, and this was perfect! The hotel is in a really nice area, but not far from the French Quarter. We would definitely return.
Good location, polite staff, Funky decor, clean linens and towels (no stains), good breakfast but it starts at 7, We'd stay there again Our bathroom faucet was wacky and wouldn't turn off. The entry light didn't work. The room was small (which we knew) and dinged up.
The location was great in walking distance of everything. The room was so small that it wasn't worth the money! The person that checked us in failed to mention until after the fact their was a deposit for each night that we stayed. We had to ask after we had been gone from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. to get clean towels since no one had cleaned our room or brought new towels.
The Hotel Modern is close to New Orleans museums, warehouse district that's packed with great galleries and good restaurants. It's also on the streetcar line. Accommodating staff here! I checked into a room with wet carpet--coffee spilled--and then was given a room that was so small that there was not space for a closet and no window. The third room was perfect.
I found the room to be very well equipped, and I liked the book theme. I happened to be there over Mardi Gras and the hotel is on the Parade Route... seemed like it would have been fun to watch from downstairs. The internet was free but really didn't work -- very slow.
No Valet, No ice on floor we stayed on, dirty, uncomfortable bed, unfriendly desk staff, no doorman, no security, no restaurant, a/c didn't work correctly, noisy. I will not go back and I will spread the word that the new owners don't understand customer service. Still charging the same amount as if it were still a boutique hotel...more like motel
I was a late night check-in that left early morning and the gentleman tending to a few others and myself at that hour was genuine, friendly and super helpful Instead of annoyed or rude. The decor is different yet Inviting, location quiet for the most part and the rooms offer unique niceties (soaps, coffee, etc not like what you'd find at most chains). Loved the books too, what a thoughtful touch! Their green initiatives are a great, conscious model of what should be done to protect Lake Ponchartrain but I found stray head hairs in the bed & think that "reusing" linens shouldn't be an option, hygiene wise.
Nice clean modern room! Great staff!
Right down town. Only a 4 minute streetcar ride or 10 minutes walk to canal/bourbon St. Pretty safe area. Staff was super friendly and the restaurant at the hotel was 5 Stars. Very very very very small rooms but for the price it's fantastic. Layout if the hotel is a bit odd as well.
The room was decorated with books and the interior was not like a typical hotel room. The staff was friendly and helpful. Carl at the front desk help went out in the middle of the Lee Circle to get us a cab. Thank you, Carl. The walls between the rooms were thin. We could hear a bed shake in another room and clearly hear the noise. In the bathroom, the body soap, shampoo and conditioner bottles were in the dispensers mounted on the bathroom walls, which was fine, but I could get enough body soap from it. The bathtub drainage was very slow. It was a good 20 min walk to Canal St. it was fine with us, but may be too far if you don't like to walk a lot. it's in the Watehouse district where it's quieter, which we preferred.
Friendly, helpful, real
Close to city without being too loud Breakfast was all carbs- no eggs or protein
Location and staff were excellent.
Unique lodging in eclectic part of city near main attractions
The breakfasts were very good (help yourself ... but lots of choice) and the outdoor area within the bed and breakfast ground was great. The bed was very comfortable and the room very nice and clean. The area around the hotel was run down ... close to the Interstate highway. We had an inside room and did not hear the traffic noise, but had to walk under the highways to get to the French Quarter. The room was not well noise insulated and everyone that walked by the room sounded as if they were in the room ... bad when people walked by early in the morning with noisy shoes (heels on the wooden floor) and talked. When people were quiet walking by the room, it was really nice and quiet and a lovely place to stay.
Me an my wife went there for our honeymoon and we loved it. Great staff great location, breakfast was great as well. The room was just what we needed, it overlooked the pool which was amazing as well. N/A
The inn is decorated lovingly and in keeping with the style of the building. The inn has secure off road parking and the pool area is truely exceptional. The area is covered with tropical plants and a great deal of thought and effort has gone into its construction. The pool area is clothing optional which we enjoyed and so it seemed did all the other guests.A great location and central to everything no car needed.
Everything! Staff was great, pool was amazing. Cute and comfy!
Beds were comfortable and location was nice. The grounds were trashy and the pool was gross. We often witnessed staff standing around talking and smoking. Staff would walk past trash on the ground, more than once, and never stopped to pick it up. The pool had a grease film on the surface of the water and a film on the tile edge. I brought the condition of the pool to the staff's attention and was told it would be cleaned that day, that never happened. The film on the tile easily scraped off with my thumb nail, I am sure a simple brushing would get the film off with little difficulty. If our roommate had showed himself on day one we would not have stayed at this location but the roach I found walking on the bedside table only joined us on our last day.
The staff was great, the room was clean and comfortable and the location was perfect for both my work and leisure.
Room was very clean and quiet. Bed was comfortable and a decent size TV. none
the hotel was built around a lovely courtyard. A nice place to relax and enjoy a quiet evening. Also right on the trolly line.
Location was dope! The shower was awful! Got water all over the floor
Nothing Worst Hotel every. 0 up keep in the last 20 years. Don't let the pictures fool you it's a dive.
I loved the room and the continental breakfast was great. I also like the location. It was close to so many attractions. The room was very comfortable and clean. The only thing I didn't like was that the tile around the lower section of the bathroom was loose and some that were replaced were not replaced properly.
The staff was great. The wi-fi connection was horrible.
The location was perfect for our 1 night stay. Enjoyed having the trolley stop right in front of hotel and being able to travel easily. The beds were very comfortable and the room was spacious for my familiy of 4. The free breakfast was delicious. There was a dirty sock from the previous guests in the closet and a "huge ass beer" in the fridge. Other than that everything was good
The customer service was very bad. I tried several times to reach the front desk without success. The wifi and cable were both out our entire stay. Parking was not included in the price as indicated. Valet service was not communicated with so we had issues getting our car several times. I would not stay in this hotel again.
There was a streetcar and bus stop right by the hotel which was very convenient.
When we got to the room after checking in our hotel room door was open, the beds were a disaster, not made up in the least bit, trash in the trash cans & one... Yes ONE towel. No pillow cases at alllll the entire weekend even after requesting them numerous times. The only staff member worth anything was the security guard, super nice and very helpful, front desk lady was somewhat nice seemed too annoyed and not very helpful, took off the parking pass fee but I wasn't really interested in any of the other stuff... Security guard even told us that he tried to tell her to help us and all she said was "what you want me to do?!" When we told them the beds were not made or anything they just handed us one and a half sets of sheets and we had to strip and make out own beds... Not worth it, would rather pay the extra money next year for st patties weekend, very disappointing.
