It was clean, comfortable and quiet.
Yes they did not have wireless internet and cable interned did not work. How can conduct business without internet now a days.
Clean, quiet, convenient location near restaurants between downtown and IAH airport.
Comfortable room, gym, pool, great breakfast. They did not have my booking.com reservation. Then they accomodated me but did not note that breakfast is included so I had to sign for my breakfast bill and then re-claim it at check out. Pool opening times are not on hotel book in the room. Also pool does not have changing facility and this was not advised to me by the reception staff or the hotel book so I went down and had to go back up to the room to change, back down again and then go back up all wet ! One of the main reasons for me was the shuttle to Galeria but last shuttle is at 4.30 pm. Again, this was not stated on hotel info on booking.com
Very neat and clean. Room is a little small, but it wasn't an issue really.
its location to the convention the rooms were old. no microwave or ice box in room.
There was a free shuttle bus that took me and my friend to the Galleria. The breakfast buffet was nice. The room was clean, but noisy. The staff were surly and slovenly and unresponsive. The rooms were noisy as next to the freeway (should have more sound proof windows then). City taxis refused to go to this hotel or didn't know where it was. Cleaning staff ignored 'do not disturb' signs and were very noisy. Biggest problem was that it was in the middle of nowhere and I had to take the free shuttle bus (runs three times a day) to get to the Galleria and then take a taxi to anywhere else. The shuttle bus only travels in a 5mile radius.
Great room, good quality for money, clean, quiet, Upon checking in we were asked for a credit card for incidentals, which is normal. However, we were never offered the amount that would be put on hold. We had to ask how much would be put on hold. We were told 50.00. Because it struck us as weird that the amount was not offered upon arriving in the room we checked the amount requested. 150.00 we're put on hold. We called the front desk and we're told that it should not have been 150.00 (after we pointed out that the room was prepaid and it is not usual to charge the whole night's fee on a prepaid room) and that it would be returned. It was not. It still appeared on our statement. Not cool.
Reall good walls are just thin
Room good bed good and breakfast good When check out there appear some stange bill such as the phone bill and breakfast bill(my breakfast should be include)
I liked the price! The clientele made me feel uncomfortable.
They allowed us to bring our two dogs in without an additional pet fee, they had toiletries made by Bliss, Starbucks coffee, and Tazo tea in the hotel room, and the internet was free. The wireless internet signal was very weak on the 8th floor.
love the surroundings, the quietness and cleanliness of the place...the staff was also wonderful and friendly especially the bartender...although there was one staff that doesn't know the first thing about customer service not really towards me but what I've seen with other guests on 2 occasions.....overall I love the place but there's a few things they can work on because of their price
Ease of in and outnumber Number of extra taxes and surcharges that lessened value
Boutique hotel feel. Near the Galleria and other shopping and restaurants. Fire alarm went off at 5:30 AM. Noticed that some of the lobby furniture and room furnishings looked worn and needed to be updated. Located in a busy area and entering and exiting on Westhimer is difficult.
hotel presenation my a/c went out and was placed in a room with same problem
Even with the construction outside, we had a great stay at Hotel Derek. It's a fun hotel at a great location. The only real negative was the cleanliness of the room (specifically the bathroom). Overall, the hotel staff was great. We also enjoyed grabbing a drink at the hotel bar as it had a great vibe, lots of energy and plenty of opportunity to mingle.
I loved the location of the hotel and the fact that they actually had a full bar. I made reservations through hotel.com and the check in process was very easy. The staff were very friendly. Nothing against the hotel itself, but I wish there was someone who monitored the noise levels in the hallways. Even with a sign posted requesting guests to be mindful of their noise level, the guests next to us kept partying and being overall noisy until 4 AM.
It was in a great location. Clean, great area, very trendy, great staff. There was a bunch of hidden charges, everything was a la carte. I ended leaving 3 hours into my stay because I had a emergency. None of my charges where refunded. Even 20$ off the restaurant would have been nice in that situation. I was given the absolute worse view. Im from Houston and ill get hotels so avoid driving on the weekends but, probably wont stay at Derek again.
Samar <3 Leaving Samar :(
A family emergency brought me to Houston, and I booked my room online. I loved the urban modern decor. Boutique and trendy - and the decor is my style, but some fixtures were a little dated. Location and self (or optional valet) parking were very convenient. Lots of hidden fees: resort fees, "misc tax", parking tax; plus upon check in - after already paying my entire reservation (4 nights), my CC was charged $100/night for "misc". I was prorated some of the $100/nt, but it was still an unexpected expense that I was not aware of $100/nt fee when I booked - or I probably would've cancelled my reservation. Also reserved for 4 nights, but when I tried to extend my stay 2 extra nights, the room rate was much more per night. They did allow me a late check out to decide if I wanted to pay the increased rate - which I greatly appreciated. I ended up checking out of the Derek, and stayed in another hotel in the galleria district those 2 extra nights.
Not much too extra fees not worth the stay. The price did not fit the service and accommodations.
Hotel Derek made my money worth, that we even decided to stay an extra day and the front desk workers where very professional and flexible with check out hours.
Comfy beds. Easy check-in. Must pay for parking due to location.
Toyota Center was an easy walk accross the street; complimentary shuttle to restaurants in the downtown area not as easy to check in if you were not using valet parking
Location to the Toyota center. Being within walking distance. We also loved the free shuttle, the drivers were both grate. Needs more smoking rooms.
convenient expensive and had to pay $18 for parking!
Gorgeous inside and out. Staff was professional and courteous . Hilton Americas is the best of the best. Short stay.
It was nice, good beds, very good restaurant/ bar in the hotel. Staff was very professional. The price was a Lil high, but everything around was much higher so I guess it wasn't so bad.
Friendly staff Noise in the room(airco, motorway)
very comfortable and very convenient.
the bed and the free internet the lady at the front desk when we arrived, she was rude and negative. They couldn't find our reservation of one room (we reserved two and had the confirmation with us, the second room appear on her computer).
Staff Price- having to pay to park-old worn out bathroom $14 BREAKFAST!!!!!!!
Large comfy bed Location, bad part of town
Good location with easy and quick access to places of interest to me. Bed size and poor response to fix AC problems
Love the facility No microwave and freezer available and we have to pay parking fee per day.
Front lobby staff were polite, helpful and professional. Service personnel greeted guests and readily provided directions. Wish breakfast was included but enjoyed stay overall.
Hotel was nice, rooms were nice too. The only thing that was bodering me was the location - hotel was near the road and it vas quite noisy at night. But all in all it was ok for the price we paid.
The beds we comfortable The room air conditioner was not working properlty nor was the toilet. And there were no extras we were dissappointed and will not stay at houton four points ever again, the weekend staff was not even concerned with the issuses we had,
Room was clean Bed was comfortable Quiet Good proximity to freeway but has a side street that allows you to travel through a neighborhood away from the congested freeway and feeder roads. Small parking lot. Parking fee. No vending machines. Water in bath had a sulfur smell.
The pick-up from the downtown bus station to the hotel was sweet. The staff were nice and the room was gorgeous.
The hotel seems like it was very nice a few years ago but doesn't feel like it has been kept up to date and doesn't feel clean at all. Our room smelled so much like mildew! The room came with 1 bottle of complimentary water. Every bottle after that you had to purchase, principally speaking I think this is crazy for a hotel room that costs $200 per night! Overall not impressed by this hotel.
Very comfortable rooms. Bathroom is huge. Room service food left a little to be desired.
Location, view No minibar,, no vending machines ,no smoking- but no balconies !!!! I expected a high class, luxury hotel..... I found myself regretting the choice immediately upon arrival in the room... No minibar, (then why did they take a 400 dollar deposit from my card without mentioning it, in addition to my paying the 600 up front for the two days I was staying there.??????!!?..... Which will take a week to be put back on my card...... No soda or vending machines, closest 24 hr place to get snacks is 3 miles away.... They charged me over 60 dollars in overnight parking fees without ever asking me whet make or model or license plate number... I didn't even have a car with me on this trip- staff were condescending and rude about my attempting to address these and other issues..... Don't stay here Houston is big no shortage of alternatives that are not a waste if minry
Johnny at the front desk was spectacular, and was very professional. Gave me recommendations on night life and restaurants. The room was very nice, and the beds were comfortable. The valet was decent. It's about $34 a night after tax for one car, but it is downtown Houston. They are very quick about getting your car ready for you when you call for it. At night we called valet for a cab and went down 10 minutes later and they said it had not arrived yet. My group waited 10 more minutes inside the garage before the valet guy told us to stand on the street and try to get one. What is the point of calling ahead for a cab if they wanted us to go flag one down ourselves. There is no on site self parking, but there is a small private owned parking lot connected to the right of the hotel which is $10/ a day where my friend left his car. Check your bill before you leave!! I was charged an extra $20 dollars for "long distance calls." I didn't realize it was considered long distance to call valet down stairs... They were happy to take it off, but I'm glad I checked it.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. Lounge is very nice. Breakfast at the restaurant was good but quite pricey. Hotel was extremely clean and had very little mold/mildew, which plagues even 4 & 5 star hotels in Houston. The pillows were not great and the restaurant was too expensive for extended business stays (French toast + coffee + OJ + tip = $25).
Room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was great! I thought the shuttle service was convenient and made our stay more comfortable. Lots of homeless people around the street of hotel, as long as you take the shuttle it doens't really matter.
Nicely renovated, bigc ocmfy rooms
The design of the hotel and the rooms was fabulous. Couldn't have picked a better location. Walking distance to lots of bars and restaurants. We went to the cafe across the street in the morning and everyone was wearing Astros jerseys getting ready to walk to the game.
Bathroom is huge and comfortable. No icemachine. Had to request ice and tip for each delibvery.
Only one coffee serving in our room.
Unique hotel. Friendly staff. Love the bar in the lobby. Comfy beds. Great shower. Perfect location. I wish parking was a bit less expensive, or there was a self park option.
Beautiful hotel in a wonderful area of downtown. We were able to walk everywhere. We did love the roof top pool as well. Amazing view of downtown from above. The main drawback for us is that there was a wedding the night we stayed so the bar/pool table area was not available. There was no other good place to hang out at the hotel which was inconvenient for us.
Very clean Comfortable Nice Expensive parking
location close to Minute Maid park. Rooms were nice size, free breakfast buffet was spectacular. Maria and the staff in the kitchen during the breakfast and in assisting in attempting to rectify a mistake made by other staff (see 'What didn't you like'). I called ahead to find out whether I needed to bring our coffee brewer for our own, in room, coffee, and was told they had actual brewers (not those pod-type things). They didn't, and couldn't locate any, and didn't have any answers for how to get what we wanted and what they said they had. They did brew our coffee in their kitchen for us, which was apparently the best they could do. We almost didn't get the early check in they had also promised over the phone; luckily I had the name of the person who granted it, who happened to be the one at the front desk and who initially told us they couldn't check us in early.
I loved my view for the room! I requested a room with a nice view and I was accomadated with a room on the 21st floor! It was also my birthday weekend and they had chocolates and a card waiting for me. Everything was perfection!
Daughter and husband loved the Milk and Cookies Happy Hour every night! Breakfast was very good too! The pool was perfect for my 4 year old because it is only 3 feet deep and not very big at all. A little disappointing.
I loved the atmosphere, decorations, the view from the pool was amazing, the room was clean and comfortable. The valet were super friendly and helpful. The staff inside seemed a bit on edge from the double weddings in the restaurant, clerk told us we could order at the bar tender stand downstairs and the bartender seemed offended and said she's a liar, it's room service only that night. I was not fond of the prices for waffles and french toast on the menu, seemed an awful high price for such a simple food. The view from my room was construction and graffiti ' ed windows on the building next to us.
Fantastic location - great restaurants, bars and the Wortham theater are all within walking distance. Bed was old, uncomfortable and not worth what we paid for.
The hotel was remodel the front and the noise was horrible. Room so small. Queen bed not King.
It was clean and very comfortable
Very quiet and cozy, with only about 8 rooms per floor. Rooms are small, but nicely appointed and very clean and comfortable. Breakfast buffet was great. Everything was obviously prepared fresh. Staff are courteous and friendly. The front entrance was under construction. Not much of a view from our room, just the parking lot.
The staff greeted us warmly and even provided champagne upon our arrival. When we made it to the room it was beautiful with a great view of downtown and all the amenities we could have wanted. Even the water fixtures were stunning. It was a truly fantastic stay and I couldn't recommend it higher.
The exercise facility is so small that it is almost pointless. The showers need updating, as do other amenities like the television.
The room was clean and staff were very nice. The walls were paper thin and the door to the room was not closed tight enough to not shake and bang anytime another door was opened or closed on our floor. It kept my girlfriend and I up all night long, I finally called the front desk around 3 am and was told all they could do was extend my checkout by an hour... The free breakfast in the morning was alright but I was too tired to actually enjoy any of it. Room 501 was the loudest room I've ever slept in.
It is within walking distance of the Houston Grand Opera and metro to the museum & theater district - a lovely boutique hotel! TV and phone system a bit antiquated but work. There is so much to do within walking distance of the hotel that this was not really important to us.
The staff was extremely polite and courteous. The place has so much character. The gentleman out front got us a taxi within about 30 seconds of asking how to get one! The tv and stereo could use an upgrading (cassettes?). But who stays there to watch tv?
The location is perfect particularly if in town for the performing arts functions. The service is great--Winfield W. and Jeremy M. are among the best in the hospitality world.
Service, food and ambience. Nothing
The building was very charming and the staff very friendly. The location was great and very central to many sites in Houston. None.
This was a wonderful hotel- beautifully restored and renovated. My room was spacious and comfortable. I had read a previous review from a guest who had been disappointed by the size of the bathroom, but I did not experience this problem at all. Every aspect of my room met or exceeded my expectations and the value was exceptional. I can't think of any part of my stay that disappointed me. Honestly.
The hotel was very nice and was at a great location I did not like the fact that there were no curtains and the room was light.
Room was nice and comfortable. Accepted our dog. Our room was right above their event center very noisy. They were breaking down tables and being very loud after 10:00 during the week. If you get a high enough floor I guess this would not be a problem. Also getting ice was a bit of a hassle.
excellent staff! rooms were very comfortable and very clean. We will definitely be back.
Enjoying the vicinity of the hotel to the historical city center I am anxious to be double charged - first on November 8 by hersha Hospitalty Management for the amount of 1 097.85 usd (immediately after arriving to the Hotel) and then by alden Houston 1 047.85 usd 2010-11-16 at 09:17:35 =- may be I misunderstand something, pls explain!
Amazing staff, best valet service I've ever experienced. Very clean hotel. 2 full bathrooms in the room kinda odd but after the first ten minutes you wonder what's wrong with other hotels. Great location four blocks from Minuet Maid Park. Gym is small but has the essentials, got the job done. Great overall experience. No mini fridge in the room was the only draw back. Had to make a bunch of trips to the ice machine, which was on a different floor to keep my daughters pedisure cold.
Interior decorating very interesting. Everything updated. Refreshing look and feel. Very comfortable. The valet parking was brutally expensive.
We were on the 10th floor. It was very quiet and very comfortable. We had everything we needed. We used the shuttle daily and the drivers were all very friendly and professional. It was a pleasure to see them smiling every morning. We were always greeted by the front desk staff every time we stepped off the elevator. The entire hotel was very clean. I would definitely stay there again! The water smelled a little like clay/mud they use in spas for wraps. My skin and hair certainly enjoyed it, but I did feel the need for perfume. Despite this, I would still stay there again.
Excellent bed & shower. What else do you need...? A/C in the bed room is a little bit noisy. I had to shut it off.
The pleasantness of the staff No informal cafe. Some across the street, but not in the hotel. Hotel restaurant excellent but expensive and only other choice was on the roof at the pool.
The staff was fantastic and they all seemed like they enjoyed working there. First class the whole way!
Excellent service standards
I liked that the staff seemed to really care each and I every time I had a need, even for my puppy ! Thanks for a great stay.
Roooms not as new as would be expected. TV was not modern and had problems with it. Valet parking was extremely expensive for parking my vehicle around the corner where I can see it when I exit the hotel
Had to use valet parking the whole time as the regular deck was closed, and there was an extended wait to get the car when I was ready. The room could also use a refrigerator.
The staff was really helpful and informative about places to go eat and hang out. and with directions. Balcony was very small, and expected more for my money.
Location is great, facility is average!! Parking is a problem, no self parking and you can wait for your car for a long time.. During peak hours, valet department don't answer your call..even if they do you may still wait !!!
Everything was clean, the bed was large, and the man who checked us in gave us a couple of free water bottles when we asked about how to get water. Even though it was Christmas. There was no fridge or microwave, and we got free wifi because it was Christmas, but wifi should always be free in a hotel regardless of what day it is.
Very nice centrally located hotel staff was nice hotel was clean my only bad experience the food was a little under cooked on the late night room service
Complimentary internet, complimentary parking, and real great location. Internet is a little slow, and the carpet felt a little dirty/wet
Hotel was a nice facility Drink machines didn't work on three different floors I went back to my room thirsty.
My company paid for & reserved a king room. When I arrived I was told the king room was sold out. They put me in a double room. Usually when this occurs a hotel puts you in a better room not a lesser room. Had to go to desk the following day to insist on better room. Which at that point they did provide.
The neighborhood stores has different varieties and it's very convenience. There is no frigeratior
Bed was comfortable Drove around the parking lot for 25 minutes looking for a Parking spot. Had to ask three times for extra pillows.
Convenient location, nice hotel, nice grounds, friendly staff Everything was fine
I am not sure why it is 4 stars. The rep at check in barely made eye contact. Bedding needs updating.
We only stayed one night. Had an event to attend in Houston area. Staff was friendly NA
Very professional and Clean I had to wait because the system was down but I understand that.
Just spent one night but heart of the Houston Medical Center. Can't be beat. Staff friendly and efficient. Easy valet parking (not cheap - but nothing is in the Medical Center). I'm told by my brother there's a very nice gym and pool there - but as I was scheduled for surgery, wasn't able to avail. They alsohave a convenient van available to drive you in a 2 mile radius around the Center. - Messed up the billing. After putting my brother's room on my card they still went ahead and charged him. - Bar on 2nd floor was difficult to find a server. Appetizers ordered were worse than hospital food!
The service, laundry machines, complementary breakfast, facilities (fitness and pool) Pool wasn't clean and no one checked or noticed from staff, the corridor rugs were old and smelly a bit
Price Room was very basic, no warmth or style at all
Great bed and shower, always the most important items in a hotel. Very simple breakfast buffet in reception area.
The room was clean and spacious. Majority of the staff were great but a couple lazy ones. I would definitely stay there on my next trip . Few staff did short cut on cleaning room but the room was done very well most of the time. Overall the Hampton was great.
Quiet, adult like facility. No complaints Not much in adult relaxing , for example hot tub or workout updated.
The bed linens and bathroom were all very clean I wasn't very happy that parking was extra. However the secured gates were nice
Staff was very friendly Heated pool was nice on a cool evening Very close to Galleria
liked the nice room, the breakfast and the coffee bar.
room is really big. front desk people are very courteous. lot of noise in the corridors, the room doors close with lot of noise and as nearby rooms close the sound wakes you up many times in the night. towel changing to be made a daily affair.
The breakfast was good and great location. The construction was loud and I wasn't notified about the parking fees until I arrived.
Modern, sleek, expensive looking lobby, very friendly staff. Three elevators leading up to our 12th floor room; there was never a long wait to go up or downstairs. The room was clean and standard. No complaints. The number one selling point was paying a 'motel' price for this excellent hotel. Will definitely be staying here again next time I'm in town. The only complaint that comes to mind is the proximity of restaurants near hotel. There are only about 3 fast food restaurants close by. It is about 15 min travel to other options. I am not used to big city commutes, thus 15 min is a bit inconvenient for me. The reason I booked this hotel though, was for its proximity to ikea and not to restaurants. All in all, the complaint is not enough to deter me from staying here again.
Excellent thanks .
HAD A NICE EXPERIENCE AT THE HOTEL. STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND POLITE. RIGHT OFF HWY/INT 59/69. ROOMS WERE QUIET AND CLEAN. NO PROBLEMS I CAN THINK OF. I WILL STAY AT HOTEL AGAIN AND RECOMMEND TO FREINDS
room service, customer service and area was very nice along with comfortable rooms and I love their luandary room . The food in resturant was pricey compere to other places and no complimentary breakfast.
location is close to shopping area nothing
I loved the area and the view that I received. Staff was great! I did not like the fact I had to pay for parking. I feel that should be included with the visit.
price and location
Good location, comfortable suite
Bar Food and cookies! Poor Lighting in rooms
There was plenty of room in the suite. It was just a little dark in the hallways. I like a little cherrier look.
Very accommodating staff. Convenient location to shopping restaurants. Rooms clean and spacious.
Very clean, quiet rooms.
Good location next to the Galleria Mall. Enjoyed the Sheraton Club. Beds were pretty comfortable Bathroom could use updating, it was probably clean but had moldy caulking
Spacious rooms. Suite was nice.
Room was nice, valet parking, guest services was awesome - very helpful. Free internet in lobby was conveniently accessed! Price of breakfast at Restaurant was a little high.
Service was great. Made us feel like valued customers. Special shout out to Rex, the concierge. Food in bar was also very good Everything was great
To be honest there wasn't much I liked about the hotel and I have stayed there before. This is my second stay at this hotel and I book it because it's fairly close to the Houston rodeo. You have to pay $9 for parking and I'm like you are really changing me for parking when I'm a guest at this hotel? No free continental breakfast really? Holiday Inn express has a great free breakfast. The sheets were seriously like 100 count plastic or something in case you wet the bed. The housekeeper entered my room 3 times starting at 7:30 to noon and we were trying to sleep. The front desk had gotten my reservations wrong and called my room at which time I explained to them we were staying 2 nights. Well I guess the front desk didnt believe me because they locked me out of my room. I had to go to the front desk and show them my reserverations. Terrible experience and quite frankly I dont think I'll be back.
Elevators were extremely slow. Only 2 operating in peak hours. Smelled of unpleasant cleaning products.
Location, secure environment, large room, comfortable queen size beds, kitchennet area in room, beautiful accommadations, and extremely friendly staff. I did encounter one problem with no hot water in the shower. My parents were two doors down therefore my family used their bathroom. I immediately reported the plumbing problem. We were offered another room and given a credit for not receiveing full sevice in the room. The manager and staff accommdated my family quickly and graciously. For a family of three and my parents traveling with me there was no free complimentary breakfast available. I really think this should be included for the price of the rooms
The hotel can use a renovation in the rooms.
the stay was very nice the service was good! I didn't like being next to nosiy neighbors!!
The room was comfortable. It was the first time we both stayed here. Out of all the places to stay in Houston we chose this place. What ruined our experience was that my new 2015 vehicle was vandalized in the self-parking garage. This ruined my whole experience and and impression of crown plaza. I reached out to a manager and she quickly pushed us to the valet staff. The manager was out of town so Eric just made me fill out an incident report. He stated the his manager Mr. Dillet would call me and till this day he still has not reached out to me. I had to call him consistently to get an answer. I've already spoken to him and I understand the outcome. It was just the way things were handled that makes never want to return to this place again.
I like the overall value in the cleanliness of the rooms I didn't like the 50 dollar deposit per room because I reserved three rooms so that was an extra hundred and fifty dollars taken out of my account
Nothing about this hotel That the rooms smelled awful so we switched rooms and there it was. The same smell. It smelled like heavy carpet smell. Turns out they were smoking in the room before we arrived. We were later told to heck out find a different hotel and leave. The staff weren't helpful at all since there was a big group checking in she didn't care about us
I had a pleasant stay at Crowne Plaza River Oaks. The staff was very helpful considering that this is my first time in the US. The room was spacious and very clean, and you cant beat such price.
Location is good, very convenient. The blanket is not soft at all
Beautiful spacious room. Front desk staff was wonderful Garage elevator broke and was out of order nearly two days during our stay.
STAFFS ARE ALL FRIENDLY & KIND. ROOM WAS CLEAN & COMFORTABLE TO STAY
