The room was cozy, spacious, and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful--they went out of their way to accommodate us even though the booking.com reservation process did not work. There was nobody there when we arrived to check in. They did not receive our reservation details from booking.com. We recommend contacting the hotel directly before a stay, as the check-in times on booking.com were inaccurate.
Huge balcony. The scene from the balcony was the best imaginable. One of the staff members did not behave well. The hotel is far from the train station at Untergrainau. There was no staff at the hotel, they didn't even lift the phone in the night, although they say the service is 24 hours. There was no internet connection in the hotel as advertised on their booking.com site. There is a huge list of "things not to do" in the booklet they provide in the room. The location of the hotel is shown as Untergrainau in their map, which is more than a mile away from the hotel.
The Zugspitze mountain view There was no staff present, a self-service hotel...
the fantastic view from the room! The surroundings! Everything was marvellous! We will definitely come back one day nein, alles war super
Liked the decor no contact with owners/mgrs, etc except for one phone call.
the room was big and comfortable.the location very convinient.
Beautiful location Although named Sports Hotel, it has no Gym
Our suite (apartment) was big, clean, fresh and comfortable and had a fantastic view of the mountains. The staff was friendly, the food was good, the location tranquil and quiet. We really liked the atmosphere in this hotel and would recommend it to anyone. Not really.
lovely, lovely mountain setting with balcony views of the alps. Delicious meal in the hotel restaurant. A little off the beaten path so the staff was less fluent in English than in other hotels we stayed in. Clientele was on the older side.
Super service, perfect rooms & view, amazing food!
Nice clean rooms with full bathroom with real & enclosed shower! Beautiful scenery and access to amazing mountain trails! 7 minutes from downtown Garmisch. Near train stop. Easy close parking. Large underground swimming pool and facility. Nice friendly staff who gave great recommendations. Hotel has TWO awesome bars...which are isolated from the rooms (no noise concerns). Great access to Alps for skiing or other Alpine activities! THIS PLACE HAS THE MOST AMAZING BREAKFAST BUFFET!!!!...which was free/included with your stay...We would have been happy to pay $20-30 just for the breakfast buffet! Reminds you of a high-end, quality food buffet in Las Vegas, but all Bavarian quality food!!!
It was just a nice place to stay. I would recommend this hotel to anyone
One of the bet hotels ever !!! excellent excellent excellent!!!
Great location for hiking. Rained each day but still enjoyed. Pet friendly room but not dining rooms, had to eat by ourselves in the bar. Dining rooms
The location to walking trails, ski runs and public transport make this hotel ideal for exploring the mountain area around the Zugspitze and Ski runs around Garmish. The quality of the food and menu choices was excellant. The staff could be a bit happier and smile more, also service a bit slow sometimes in the restaurant.
Hiking and genral sit seeing
excellent position, fantastic views, hypercomfortable room, friendly and efficient owner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Location good for trekking Refridgerator (or mini bar) and larger TV in the room would be big plus,
The kindness of the owner Gaby and the way she treats every customer (she helped us to organize our trips arround Grainau and Munchen). Very wealthy breakfast and a very pleasant atmosphere in the hotel.
Very hospital staff and atmpsphere, clean well-equipped and recently rennovated rooms, charming funiture everywhere, beautiful montain view with Zugspitze from the window, tasty breakfast. The location is perfect for going to Zugspitze or hiking near Eibsee for both, who travel by car and without it. Bus stop to Eibsee and Garmich is in 3 min walk from the guesthouse, Grainau station of Zugspitzbahn is in 10 min and DB Untergrainau station is in 12 min walk, so it was absolutely no problems for us to get to skiing areas without the car.
The silent beautiful place is far from a big city Cosy atmosphere and very nice owner of this hotel. Im sure that i will back in this place soon. i have't
Excellent apartment. Very clean, quiet and comfortable. Owner Gaby was very nice. Will go back.
Gabby was a very gracious hostess. Very attentive to our needs.
courtesy of the owner and location
From my experience, this was one of the best places I have stayed. The room and the guest house are excellent and the hostess is extremely friendly and helpful (and her english is perfect!!!). The location is also really good because from the windows of the house one can admire Zugspitze.
The breakfast had a nice variety of meats, fruits, cheeses, local breads, and beverages. A complimentary afternoon cake/pastry and warm beverage was a nice touch. Off street rooms are prefered due to frontage traffic.
Cheaper than staying in the middle of Garmisch
hotel was nice Hotel staff did not want to let us stay because we had a child with us, although we had mentioned it in our reservation. Fortunatelly they changed their mind and the rest was fine
nice host and breakfast, great location that very close to the mountain hiking
Great position close to the Zugspitze. The house is pretty with good Wifi. No dinner, but the restaurants at the G-P town is very good
The hotel was very charming, and the room was quite large, which is unusual for hotel rooms in Europe. No complaints.
A wonderful place to stay and an excellent value.
the hotel is beautiful, typical for the area, in good condition and everything was very clean. The hotel and the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful, within fairly easy reach to the GAP city centre and the slopes (by local bus). Breakfast buffet was fresh and plenty. The location is suited well for outdoors activities. Not really, this was perfect for us.
This Hotel was very cosy with warm atmosphere. Staff was friendly and helpful. Location was quiet in a good way. Only few steps to Untergrainau railwaystation. Breakfast was really good, but too late (8am). I know some people want to sleep late, but if you are heading to slopes theres no time to waste.
the place, people, foos and most of all cleanliness
Excellent location The comfort in Waldhouse is poorer than in the Seehouse ( I stayed in this hotel several times), now for the first time in the Waldhouse, and wasn't that well as in the previous stayings.
It is well located for hiking, biking and exploring the surrounding area, and has bikes available for rental. The restaurant is very good, especially the desserts!
The hotel was very good value for money and the breakfast was very good indeed. The noise of other people using thew balconies and the very cramped bathreooms.
Our room was large, had a wonderful view of the mountains, and had a small setting area. The breakfast was limited with more store bought items than home made. After three days of exactly the same thing it was hard to bother. An upgrade of coffee would help.
Proprietor was very friendly and helpful. We took a family room and although the third bed was a sofa bed, we still had plenty of room for three people plus use of comunal lounges etc
Friendly staff, quiet secluded location
I have stayed there for ten years and the hotel is superb in a very picturesque region of the Alps. I booked through your website because the hotel's own website was not available at the time. Hotel Bergland is small but very well appointed with all essential facilities and the Family Schreyer offer an exemplary service.
Beautiful location, conviently located in town, with shops and restaurants nearby. Rooms were clean and staff was friendly and helpful.
Wonderful Hotel! The staff was great, the view was great, and the breakfast was great.
A very warm welcome and a very helpful host when it came to eating in the town and suggestions for our travel the next day. The rooms smelled a little smokey but overall were very comfortable.
Clean and comfortable; good breakfast; reasonable price; convenient for conference in Kurhaus. The wireless internet was very slow indeed and cost extra; breakfast did not begin until 8am.
The staff was very friendly. We traveled with kids and the rooms were big enough & comfortable enough to accommodate us all. We truly enjoyed our stay here & plan on visiting again!
Ease of checking in and out. The breakfast was generous and the service was excellent. Breakfast not served till 8:00 am, not convenient for earley travelers. Since we only spent one night, we would have liked to leave on our sightseeing trip earlier.
Owners greeted us upon arrival and were very helpful with local information. Located near restaurants and Zuspitze train station.
Very nice traditional German Alpine type hotel with lots of character and relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Very friedly owner and spoke English Would be nice to have tea making facility (kettle) in bedroom room
Location and the professionalism and courtesy of the owners and staff. My friend was seriously injured on our ski trip and they were more than accomodating for us during this difficult time. I will definitely use this Hotel for our future ski trips in this area.
Room was large. Location was good. Needs new pillows. Basically needs an update.
Decent German family hotel with adequate staff, spacious and clean rooms. The breakfast room has already been refurbished, but the restaurant is still somewhat outdated. The cuisine is simple, but not bad.
Lovely accommadation with plenty of room. Mountain views with conveniences of town only a couple of miles away. Good location for reaching many of the most-visited Bavarian sites. On site dining available. Advertised WiFi in the rooms but actually only available in some of the common areas.
We booked a larger room with mountain view & balcony. The room was huge & would be perfect for a family as it had a separate twin bedroom. As for the view, both the Alpspitze & Zugspitze are so close you feel like you could touch them (By using binoculars we could clearly see the new Alpspix viewing platform!!) Good breakfast selection, plenty of free parking and an indoor swimming pool. Good restaurant for evening meals. Quite a way out of town (1 bus an hour!!) if you decide not to use a car. Internet is free but doesn't reach the whole hotel as the router is at reception so you have to leave the comfort of your room & use the lobby. nb finding the hotel - the map on bookings.com is correct, however if you use Google maps the location is incorrect!! Coming from Garmisch you pass an Aldi supermarket, take the 1st turning left after Aldi & follow the road & the hotel is just before the railway line
breakfast, good parking
Almost everything. The Rooms needed a little Heat.
Location and brakfast is very good. Internet is free for only 10 minute and very pricey for the extention time. only one lift in the medium hotel.
breakfast was very rich restaurant's food was poor
Friendly staff, perfect location, good food. Sauna is closing too early, wall heating (no chance to dry glowes, boots, etc...)
The staff was very friendly/ helpful. Spoke German and English. Good German Breakfast, great location. There was no hotub in the spa, only a whirlpool that you had to pay 2 Euro for.
The location is great and the hotel is good. You are paying for the location.
We loved the setting on the lake, the wonderful breakfasts, and the very helpful and kind staff. No
Lovely location with unpsoilt views of gorgeous lake and mountains. Good breakfast. Spa facilities are reasonable. Good welcome from reception staff. Worst managed hotel ever, and has lost its way with regard to service. Almost impossible to get attention at the bar, and also in the restaurant - waited 10 minutes to be seated (whilst staff walked past ignoring us - there was plenty of space) and then 20 minutes to be asked what we wanted. Poor food at dinner (bad actually). Needs new management to raise standards - for example if walking through any door the staff would always budge ahead of guests rather than wait politely. We were ignored from start to finish (except by the excellent hotel reception staff) - this perhaps explained by the fact that there was a wedding reception taking place - but the result was Fawlty Towers.
The location is unbeatable. Directly on a beautiful lake which has a very accessible and interesting walking path all the way around. Also walking distance to Zugspitze, the highest peak in Germany. Finally, a short drive to the lovely town of Garmisch, where the 1936 winter Olympics was held. A wonderful experience.
All was excellent!! No complane
It was a pleasant one night stay. The breakfast offering was substantial and very good quality. Staff spoke English and were helpful when specific questions were posed. The location was perfect for our sightseeing plans. The room safe did not have a key in the safe so we could not use it. It would have required a call or a trip to the front desk to use the safe. Since we stayed only one night we did not pursue.
Courtesy of staff, cleanliness of room, beautiful view The only negative was our difficulty in locating the hotel. Better signage on the roadway might have helped. Once there, we loved it!!
Right in the middle of town, which was very convinient to walk to the places we wanted to go or shop. Very unfriendly staff, very dirty room. Stayed only 1 night even though we had it booked for 2 nights. Was more than happy to pay for 2 nights just so we could get out of there.
Loved this hotel, will be going back again real soon. The family that runs the hotel was super! Very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Hannes, Anders, and the rest of the family were superb to work with.
they were very friendly, they still had breakfest for us even after breakfest was over.
The on-grounds Health Spa with heated pool allowed us to relax after a long day in the mountains.
Fantastic people, willing to help you in any way to make your stay as comfortable as possible in the hotel and its surroundings.
We enjoyed the cosiness, warm and friendly ambiance the beautiful location and the spa facilities. We booked for 2 nights and ended up staying 5 nights. Liked everything i
Good room. Great views (we were upgraded from a garden room to a mountain view room at no extra charge). Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Walking from the door. Quiet location.
Beautiful setting and a very comfortable room Not enough information so we could know to have a cup of coffee/tea in between meal times. When you get there the first time, someone should take the time to inform you of some details
Please mention that the hotel is far away from any city. Impossible to get dinner in the evening. Someone had smoked in the non-smoking beedrom before us. Price of room too high, actually we felt a bit mugged. The access to internett as mentioned, is real but one machine at the third floor, no wireless systems
Dramatic backdrop of the Zugspitze mountain (if the clouds hadn't been so low during our stay!) Close to mountain railway and cable lift, also within reasonable driving distance from Schloss Neuschwanstein. Nice, bright breakfast-room. Good, fresh breakfast choices. The very small bathroom was in need of modernisation generally. We thought that the decor was over-fussy but realise that's a matter of personal taste.
Wireless is not free, credit card is not allowable.
Very pleasant public areas and garden The room was booked as one having a mountain view. It was in fact rather resticted by the hotel building extensionand overhead electricity distribution poles and cables. The bathhroom was very small, very gloomy with broken tiles. It was the worst that we encountered in our trip staying at eight other either similar standard or cheaper hotels. Limited choice of restaurants within walking dista
Very nice people and very warm atmosphere.
