The location of the hotel is excellent, overlooking the beach and not too long a walk to restaurants. Pool area is excellent. Room very comfortable. Food and drinks in the hotel are very expensive.
It was a lovely 10 minute walk along promenade into town centre, a walk we enjoyed a couple of times a day! Also spa in hotel was really nice. Beds were huge and really comfortable. Had a great weekend in Biarritz!!
Everything the service and room was excellant no
beds were comfortable Reception staff were good at check-in. Concierge staff make a very good effort waited 15 minutes for valet to get my car, while other guests were more important. during this time, one valet was loading another guests car, another was told by the reception to take bags to a room, although I had pointed out that I had been waiting for my car for a long time. food was extortionately expensive. breakfast quickly became boring. room service most expensive, and most limited I have ever come across. we once tried to have lunch at the hotel, but despite asking the restaurant hostess to point out to the staff that we had been at our table for a long time, with no service, we eventually just left, having not had our order taken, and run out of time in our schedule.
Location and ocean-side views over-priced food and drinks
The bedrooms were extremely comfortable and tastefully furnished. The pool area and spa were fantastic with wonderful views over the crashing waves. It is a wonderful beach location. We were led to believe from the web site that all rooms had sea views. This is totally wrong and you only get a sea view if you pay a premium price. We were disappoointed to be given a room at the side of the hotel immediately above the staff smoking area. This was our biggest complaint. Our other complaint was the cost of meals in the hotel. Breakfast was 28 euros each and we were not prepared to spend another 56 euros every day for breakfast, so we were reluctantly forced to go out for breakfast every day. Had breakfast been more realistically priced at say 15 to 20 euros per person then we would have had breakfast in the hotel.
location rude waiter at dinner (didn't eat there again); no hair conditioner in bathroom
Overall the service was impeccable. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The quality and cleanliness of the rooms is second to none. I have stayed at this hotel before and will do again - I look forward to it. For some reason this time, the breakfast service was poor. The staff were 'distant' and seemed to be falling out amongst themselves. On one day, we didn't get our coffee for about 20 minutes and on another, the restaurant ran out of plates, so people were putting bread, cooked breakfast etc in a cereal bowl. There seemed to be no urgency, nor desire to provide a good service. This was a pity and contrary to every other service in the hotel.
The location was superb right on the sea front . Rooms quite spacious with comfortable beds and bedding. The indoor and outdoor pools were heated with plenty of sunbeds
Location over looking both Biarritz La Phare Golf course and Biarritz coast. Clean and quiet swimming pool. Great service. 20 up hill walk back from centre of Biarritz. Cost of drinks - 9 Euros for 50cl Biere.
Beautiful old building that was unfortunately still under renovation. Many parts of the hotel were showing signs of age (the pool for example), but they were actually the mid-century additions or fixtures. I'm curious to see the hotel after the renovations are finished.
Everything, first class hotel. Staff helpful and friendly. Good location. Old world charm and character about the hotel building. Everything was excellent.
Staff were most helpful, polite & courteous We weren't advised before the stay that works were being undertaken at the hotel, the hotel was enclosed in scaffolding, our room therefore had no views.
The hotel was clean and was quietly situated but convenient for restaurants, shops and golf. Nothing
Good location with good parking. None
Go to beach
The room was spacious, well equiped and very comfortable.
Well placed and a very good hotel. The room we had was excellent Bathroom in the suite was not good. The bath was too narrow and shower door inadequate meaning that when using the shower it sprayed everywhere which made it a safety hazard. It would not stop me using the hotel again.
Comfortable beds and bedding. Easy to find location. Client parking - even though your (or their) website description implies none available! Reliable hot water in an adequate bathroom/toilet. Ease of access to ground floor rooms.
Location for airport Not very good value for money
Good staff, excellent quality campanile food, parking outside, close to station. A bit out of Biarittz for walking. Noisy main road but I did not really notice it
Everything, as always the Campanile standard is excellent. No
Easy to find, convenient size for stopover with tea coffee making facilities and air con. Did not like the connecting door to another room. First time we have encountered this with your Hotel.
Staff helpful and efficient. At times there was a lack of hot and even warm water> I brought this to the attention of the manager who said the hotel did not have sufficient hot water capacity to cope with the number of people staying at the hotel.
Clean room, Attentive staff, all spoke good English. Close to Autoroute
Easy access to the motorway network, friendly and helpful staff Nothing at all
Very friendly staff, free parking, free internet. Lack of rooms with a fridge and microwave.
Proximity to your excellent restaurent!
Entrance to the Hotel was fabulous as were all the communal areas The room we were issued was in need of repair and re-decoration
Everything, the rooms are luxurious, the staff is professional and friendly, the building is beautiful. The best of European hospitality. And the food...glorious!!!
Grand old hotel in wonderful position, maintaining its historically high standards. Some confusion about the two restaurants, which seem to share the same dining room but offer different menus.
Pool area , bar and restaurant are excellent. Our room was small and the bathroom was dated.
location and view from dining room place is showing its age, and its cost for rooms and meals are far too high. breakfast for 1 person was 50 euro, about $60 USD. the ocean view room i reserved from kayak was $550, and the only view of the water was from a side window; you had to right up next to the window to even see the water or beach. when i complained, they said that since you can see the water from the window, it qualifies as ocean view. we got misled from the check in girl as to when our room would be ready, and got fast double talk as to what happened. there also appears to be some wiggle room between what we learned about the room from kayak and what the hotel provided. kind of a bait and switch. we won't be back.
I liked my staying in the hotel. Good lacation.
The room was very nice indeed. Very modern and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. As much as I liked the hotel room the only draw back was the lack of privacy for the bathroom (no door) which may sometimes be required!
Whilst the rooms were quite small the furniture was well designed and the staff were really friendly - they gave us some really good recomendation for what to do and see. Breakfast was too expensive.
Location in the centre of the city, not so far from the ocean First of all: I booked a hotel at 21-00, came at 23-00. The hotel was closed despite the fact that it was stated that "reception - 24 hours" I had to call and wait for the manager 20 minutes! After that, he had long wished not to give the room, because "reservation has been made too late." This is unacceptable!
I loved the design, decor and comfort of the hotel and the rooms.- very pleasant on the eye. and the location - very close to good restaurants, shops, the sea. and bus stop. The heating system in the room and the heated radiator towel railing were brilliant as we were in Biarritz in extremely wet windy conditions. The weather but the hotel could do nothing about that. Some of the tourist sights were not open.
Very central location which suited us very well - handy to beach and restaurants. We liked the bedroom floors and the fact that the shower was walk-in, not in a bath. We were upgraded to a 'superior room' which was on the ground floor. The shallow sinks are the silliest design ever - stylish but silly. The staff were very friendly and helpful but unfortunately gave us wrong information about the bus to San Sebastian and we missed it!
The staff at the hotel were delightful, although the room had not been thoroughly cleaned and a broken tv was not mended. As above
Being on a pedestrian square, the hotel is very quiet and yet has a fine view of the Grand Plage. It is very well placed for shopping and for strolling along the sea front. The staff were very friendly and their English much better than my French!
Locashion, stuff is very helpfull. For sure the brekfast is bad
The location of the hotel was superb, allowing one of us to surf and one of us to shop! The decor and ambience of the hotel and the friendliness and efficiency of the staff meant that we had one of the best experiences of a small hotel we have ever had. Parking.... Public underground Car Park (Bellevue) close by which the hotel uses but beware height restriction is 1.90m.
I liked the situation of the room and views were lovely. Staff did not bother me during the day and were helpful when I requested anything. I was not happy to be charged for breakfast which I did not take. The receptionist made a deduction for this but had I not checked the bill I would have been overcharged by 120€. Also Wifi was claimed to be free throughout the hotel but I wS charged 1.65€ per day for this.
The location was excellent as the hotel is situated in the middle of town and facing the beach and sea. The decor was very nice indeed and the staff were always helpful - nothing was too much trouble. We also ate in the restaurant and whilst expensive, both the food and service were outstanding. We would fully recommend this hotel. N/a
the view from my window the quality of the breakfast and the small area that it's served in, poor value for €20
1. Clean rooms and magnificent view of the Grand Plage. 2. Helpful and friendly staff. 3. Central location. 1. No shower curtain when taking shower in the bathtub, water all over the floor!
friendly staff and contemporary style Lack of sun on balcony
Fabulous location, charming staff and delicious food. Wonderful view from our room and small terrace. Stylish decor throughout the hotel. Appalling weather! Obviously not the fault of the hotel, but there was little to do in torrential rain. Nowhere to buy English newspapers eve.
Can't speak highly enough of the friendliness & helpfulness of the staff No bad points
My friend and I thought tis was one of the better hotels either one of us has ever been to--beautifully appointed rooms and excellent service make staying at this small boutique-hotel an excellent experience.
staff very helpful, responsive and friendly. Service was great - efficient but never intrusive;. Rooms and common areas - lounge, pool, gardens, very beautiful, pool was especially nice as its long enough to swim properly in
Very nice romantic place but not for the long stay It would be so nice if they made the territory much more!
Super friendly staff. Beautiful and very stylish hotel.
Gorgeous room, fab bath and shower, absolutely charming staff, stylish hotel.. Great touches like a huge bowl of gorgeous fresh fruit in reception, and breakfast was great - lovely table, prompt service and delicious. But don't order dinner there - at least not on a Sunday night. Our dinner experience was not good. Firstly we waited ages and ages. The choice was limited but that was OK, except the food wasn't ok. It was strange bordering on bizarre and really not very nice. We ordered some cold starters (amongst which was a serving of 'green' asparagus which came limp, soggy and almost brown in colour - obviously tinned and frankly inedible) and one hot starter. All the cold starters were served together - there were 6 of us - but the one hot starter only came ages later with all the main courses. The mains were local dishes and really not very nice, weren't hot enough and certainly not up to standard. Shame as hotel otherwise is gorgeous.
The whole experience was wonderful - from the look of the manor, to the staff, to the owner chauffering us in his Rolls to our dinner reservation. The staff is extremely attentive, without being intrusive. The room was luxurious, but comfortable. A very special place. Price per person for breakfast seems high.
Attractive location, Chateau & grounds. Very friendly staff, would stay there again. A very pleasent stay and no complaints.
beautiful house, different experience from modern hotels lovely grounds beautiful mature trees enjoyed our stay
Warm welcome and helpful receptionist;lovely grounds & main mansion house; private terrace. Noise from nearby construction work - slightly spoiled our enjoyment of the grounds.
The staff was excellent, very helpful, and friendly. The grounds are beautiful, the chateau is a wonderful 200 year old mansion in the countryside. It was elegant, peaceful and comfortable. I loved the old world luxury. The bathroom was very large, elegant and exquisite. The room was a bit cool as the weather was unusually chilly for the time of year, but the staff offered up a space heater, which worked out perfectly.
This is a lovely old building and most of the furniture is antique. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the gardens and fountains was lovely. We received a very warm welcome, the receptionist was very helpful and friendly. The lounge is especially lovely in the evenings. Parking is easy. There is a choice of staying in the Chateau itself or the 'Hunting Lodge' which has newer style rooms. The Chateau is in a residential area. There is a gourmet restaurant next door, but otherwise it is a car drive into Biarritz.
nice and charming hotel
Very cosy and nice hotel, the staff very polite. The hotel is beautiful, everything in stlie, with wonderful Edwardian decorations, comrtable beds. Yes I would go back any time. Located in a short walking distance from the center.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. The overall room was light and airy. The bathroom was updated and spotless. The mattress was a little soft - although the rest of the bedding was lovely. With the window open, the street was a little noisy at night (~9-11pm) but then quieted down
The decor Aircon was broken and our room was very hot. Also due to the floorboards going through to the next room, we were woken up by the next door guests a lot.
Very good location and helpful staff I was surprised that there wasn't a waste paper basket in the hotel room
lovely to be so near the sea, the hotel was beautiful and very efficiently and calmly run. The breakfast was delicious. The bedrooms were beautiful and the beds very comfortable.
Friendly Staff.Cleanliness. Rooms weren't very big, but still fine.
The hotel feels very cosy, the rooms are in excellent condition and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The public areas are great for relaxing. We will definitively stay there again on our next visit to Biarritz.
Staff was very accomodating. Since there is no elevator, and I was staying for just one night traveling with a heavy suitcase following a business trip, I was offered a room on a lower floor and the staff carried my bag to the room. They provided a map of the city and directions to local sites. The hotel really merits its inclusion in the Charming Hotels of France.
Pleasant staff very small room, difficult to get into double bed from one side. Lighthouse beam disturbing during night.
the room was large and spaciou, hotel was very central and the staff were friendly and helpfull. lack of tea-making facilities.
Excellent location for access to the town for eating and a short walk to the beaches, nice people, and a car park which is important in this location. reviews of hotels in Biarritz often mention road noise but we had no problem although it was september.
Friendly welome and assistance with information Slight odour of cooking food when we arrived early in teh morning
Excellent service and hospitality. English speaking hosts, authentic decor and very clean. Close to town centre and beach. Private parking.
Location, friendly, cleanliness Breakfast, no tea making facilities
quiet convenient location, character of building, view from room very small shower room, only one chair in room, 66 steps up & no lift (we knew this in advance)
Great location for walking to both beaches. We had many bakeries and cafes to choose from for breakfast. Hotel owners are very helpful. Good value for the money and one of the only hotels we found that accommodated 2 adults and 1 child for a reasonable price. Flat screen tv in room was nice. We would stay here again and recommend this hotel. Walls are thin. Very basic bathroom (RV style).
very nice people and very situated the bathrooms were not finish and look very old . they should have done them as they refurfurbish the rooms
It was comfortable and the breakfast served on the terrace was memorable. It seemed rather expensive given there was no bar or restaurant and services were minimal.
