Proximity to main attractions. Large, spacious room. Effective air-con. Excellent view. Never had to wait for lift.
hotel personal was extremely helpful
Lovely hotel in all respects other than being some what dated and old fashioned. Great view from the room. Old fashioned fittings and decorations
The staff, location and size of the room No
Good location, good breakfast!
Excellent location and very peaceful Our room was comfortable, but a little on the small side
Great location and a superb hotel in the heart of the city. So many sights to see, without getting the car out again.
The room was large and comfortable The maid left our door open on our first day but the reception staff were apologetic. Tea and coffee making facilities would have made it better.
This hotel was located in the centre of the Old City. The location was excellent for choice of dining, shopping and seeing the many interesting sights.
Hotel is in a great location and its public rooms are very attractive. We paid for an upgraded room in the new wing of the hotel and we were very disappointed withthe room design and the facilities there. It did not warrant the additional cost and the lighting and privacy of the room were very poor.
A lovely hotel with nice rooms and very freindly, capable staff. Location was perfect.
The location and the buildings The swimming pool is tiny
Nice location & elegant atmosphere! This hotel is located near from the station of SNCF & the bus stop from TGV, it's very convenient for tourists. It was little hard to connect to wireless internet from a room because of the condition of wifi.
Although the description of the hotel says 'gratis WIFI in the whole hotel available", there was no WIFI in the rooms. The same for the airconditioning, the management had turned it of centrally despite a outside temperature of 25 degrees and a even higher temperature inside the room. The water pressure of the shower was low and the showerhead was placed in a bad way. The breakfast is very poor and of low quality, certainly not worth 16 euros per person. As other guests had also suggested in their comments, there are better places nearby the hotel to have a good quality/price breakfast.
The place is magnificient, we had a lovely room with views to the cloister and the fountain The room (in the old part of the building) was quite big and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel sometimes looks a bit cold, with long corridors and not very well furnished. Moreover, the staff at the reception is pretty unhelpful and not willing to give advice when requested. In a turistic city such Avignon this should not be the case.
hotel itself, room, staff
Excellent service, excellent location, and outstanding dining room: excellent value for money for meals and wine. Service was faultless. This was one of the nicest stays we could ever imagine. We are planning to return sometime later this year. It was truly and outstanding experience. We are not neophytes to France. We've lived in France for over twenty years. A tiny point, but we slept with the door open to our terrace and we were visited by mosquitoes. Maybe it would help to have netting installed on the terrace or a discreet sonic zapper in the room above the beds.
Centrally located. Quiet, off the main street. Cost of food was too high, but there were plenty of cafe's nearby to get good lower cost food.
Unusual and interesting use of monastery but the downside is confusion on use of stairs and noisy lift added to the external wall in the courtyard. Having secure parking at small cost was also a bonus. Reception area too small to handle a large group and also suffers from wind blowing in leaves. Bathroom was large but let down by small shower area and dangerous edge of vanity unit when using the toilet.
Sentral plassering. Store fine rom.
Ellers utmerket hotell.
Superior rooms were excellent in size and cleanliness. King size bed, large bathroom. Nice living area. Perfect location in relation to train station and bus stop for TGV station. Hotel is located at the doorstep to the gateway to main street of Avignon. Free internet access in the lobby area. Nice sun deck area on roof with small unheated pool. Pricy breakfast.
Great location and attentive, concerned staff. Perhaps the best dinning in the city. Very comfortable sleeping. Shower didn't have a curtain to contain the water, so it could get messy. Otherwise it worked well with good pressure.
The location was great. the hotel overall was quite nice with AC. The breakfast was delicious.
For a 2 star hotel it was excellent value for money. The staff could not have more helpful. Breakfast (croissant & bread) was always fresh and decent coffee. Room was cleaned every day and towels changed daily also. Very impressed None
cleanliness and excellent breakfast and modern and easy to find and close to centre and safe parking no
Good location just off the payage and very easy to find. Safe parking almost outside the room was beneficial as one of our party was disabled. Very comfortable king size bed with good pillows. Modern dining room very good choice at breakfast.
The lady who greeted us at reception and answered our questions was charming. I did not like the fact that the air conditioning would not cool the room and that the internet connection would not work.
Nice Hotel, not very luxury but as you know, this kind of hotels are just to rest and sleep so it was ok.
We really liked the room - it was modern, clean and comfortable and we liked the attitude of the staff - warm and friendly. We though it was a bit odd having to go quite a distance from the check-in desk to the building which housed our room. Also the bathroom need a shower curtain.
Room size and the way it is laid out and the facilities excellent No
everything was good. Farway from City Center, mas there was no ploblem for us.
Hotel's parking and many others Nothing
Cleanliness; friendly staff; helpfulness. Beds were adequate. Room was a little bigger than some we'd stayed in and the shower was actually decent sized comparatively. We did check the guest reviews on the website (bookings.com I think) when choosing our hotel. Cost was also a factor. My only complaint was that it was difficult to find someplace to eat but that isn't the fault of the hotel. There are lots of restaurants in the old city but our friends are unable to walk very far and the parking situation in the old city is kind of tough. We finally found a parking garage that had an exit near the eateries in the old city and that was helpful.
Bathroom with blue lights is impressive. Location is good near the downtown. I enjoyed your hotel. None.
easy to get to from bus and train the beds were too small, I am 6'3", they were too narrow as well.
Nice hotel, a little bit far away from the city, better have a car.
The hotel is located near a train station, a huge advantage. Room was very clean.
Friendly and helpful staff. Only entering and exiting exterior gate when walking.
All the staff were extremely helpful, it was well run and had a very pleasant relaxing atmosphere
Fantastic setting, excellent facilities and tasty breakfast. No
Location on edge of Avignon, good facilities, atmosphere and staff Better if buses back from Avignon rang later
The reception and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful. Easy access for the disabled
hotel lobby and food was great . no elevator, they are in the mist of renovations . The rooms ; carpet walls etc need renovations. It was clean and we had no major issues.Tnot walk outside stone wall that surrounds hotel. We got the impression they was a lot of crime.
The hotel grounds and pool were lovely, the staff friendly and the food of good standard. However, the reception area and the rooms could do with being updated.
All the staff were very helpful - we enjoyed our stay. The Hotel is not really walking distance (at least 30 minutes) from the city centre however there is a bus stop just outside the hotel and the buses run to time. We loved the pool and garden area.
Small and dark room, poor neighbourhood.
Excellent food, very comfortable room with all necessary facilities, staff friendly and helpful
Nice hotel, a little away from the town centre, but still walkable Did not replenish toilet rolls, cups as generously as they should. However all resources were afailable on request.
The staff was helpful and flexible with breakfast hours The furniture is very old, the pipes in the restroom made noise all night long and for many minutes after using the toilet. They decided to renovate the exterior while I was there and workers started pounding the walls at 6 am which of course disturbed everyone's sleep.
in the main street, easy to go shopping and tour bad smelling in bath room, a little far away from train station SCNF
Nothing! Room is very dirty. Bath room is in very bad shap and not functional. Carpet not clean and has very bad smill. I'had to buy my own air freshner!
The location was just excellent. It´s relatively cheap and it´s good value for money, even though it´s not a superb hotel. Clean, simple, nice staff and excellent location. Will stay there again next time in Avignon
Central Position with good view from my room
It's a great location, and good price Staff
The location in the centre of Avignon was excellent and there was a double bed. The bathroom was filthy, there was a hole in the wall, due to scaffolding outside a metal shutter had to be kept shut over the window for security so there was no natural light, and the hotel was dark and dingy.
Very helpful staff
Very nice, helpful staff, good location. The hotel is in a very nice nice old building, and the renovation will hopefully bring out the beauty of it again. Exterior of the hotel is under renovation. Room was clean, but very basic with tired, old furniture. Hopefully renovation will include the rooms as well.
The setting and gardens are lovely. It is also (if you have a car) the perfect distance from the city to get in and out easily whilst enjoying peace an calm when out. The air conditioning in the room was superb (and almost essential in this area in summer).
The Evening meal was exellent
Ideal place to be relaxed. The hotel is located on the island right next to Avignon with a swimming pool. In addition to sightseeing, you can enjoy bicycling in the area. Excellent food!
The owner/manager Jean Paul who was also the chef was very good. Very easy access into Avignon a surrounds. Believe the first floor amenities are being updated early next year. Lovely spot and in summer I think would be picture perfect, sitting underneath the vines having a quiet drink. We would return. Nothing really.
The location was superb and the countryside around is wonderful for walking and cycling no
The hotel was clean and tidy, the hotel hired cycles which was an easy way into town and the food/wine at the restraunt was excellent.
beautiful old building excellent restaurant good service scope for cycle hire none
clean rooms,relaxed atmosphere,lovely food,good breakfast.very pleasant staff.
Quiet , free and protected parking, very friendly and helpful personnel Though the food was good , the kitchen, due to the late season , only worked at reduced offer. Fot the same reason the bar had a tendency to close relatively early .
Inexpensive option outside of Avignon: easy, if you have a car (with GPS). The rooms had a bit of an odd smell, like too much Febreeze had been sprayed to cover up years of smoking but your nose does get used to it. Also, there was not hot water at night (luke warm) and so quite disappointing if you wanted a hot shower before bed. In the morning, however the water was scalding hot.
location, friendly staff no
Second visit to Avignon. Hotel location is perfect, right on the square. Very clean, large room, well appointed. Staff is excellent. The bath had some severe water damage to the tiles and this had not been repaired for some time.
Location. Helpfull friendly clean. Cute
The staff were wonderful
A small, modern hotel in a perfect location in the heart of old Avignon. Good value and pleasant, comfortable, quiet rooms. Fancy coffee maker in room. Difficult to access by car and parking garages are not too close (not bad, though). We were upgraded to a suite which was really nice, but despite having an elevator, we still had to climb an additional 30 steps after we got off on our floor to reach it (with all our luggage, baby stroller, etc.). That was just for the suite, but most other rooms also require various numbers of extra steps despite being on the same "floor."
The hotel location is perfect and the rooms were wonderful especially when compared to typical European hotel rooms. The view of the square is a very nice addition to a great room and kind, helpful staff.
location too expensive no reception area/bar
excellent location and very friendly & helpful staff. breakfast is ok. Big variation in rooms & bedsizes. We changed room without a problem.
It was on the town square, so a great base.
Location Smell of sewage
Clean and nice
Friendly staff, comfortable rooms.Very good access to the hotel by car, large parking lot. Nothing to complain. Very good hotel.
The hotel is right next to a main road.
I've better experienced staying in other 3 star hotel in Italy & France. The room was small and ordinary.
Sunny, open, single storey aspect. Lovely shady patio area between the restaurant and pool. Lovely public rooms. Reception staff very helpful.
Friendly desk staff., excellent parking local to avignon. Room carpet was filthy (even after moving rooms) otherwise the rooms was fine. The pool was dirty with a dangerous & sharp broken plastic piece from a water jet on the pool wall. Restaurent was expensive & breakfast hours supposedly finished at 1100 but closed earlier according to the staff on the day!.
Everything ok, no troubles anywere. Breakfast is way too expensive
The pool and parking facilities
Enjoyed the swimming, the pleasant grounds, and mostly good meals. The only thing we didn't like was ordering a fresh fruit mixture from the menu and getting served a bowl of canned fruit pieces.
The room was So small...just enough room to getinto bed for one but hard for the second person.Noise al night in the next room.
We stayed in a triple room and it has two separate floors (though not so spacious), which is good. The room was not clean, the bathroom has no shower curtain, there were bugs and ants in the towel. Only one fan in our room, it was too hot to fall asleep.
Central Avignon for main tourist sites. Basic cost reasonable. Breakfast very expensive at an extrsa 8 euros per person. Difficult access if touring by car.
bathroom was sparkling clean and staffs speak great english, one person even speaks little Korean, great to hear~! location was great. my baby loves stairs in the room, it was little dangerous for one year old baby though. I didnot like the carpet on the floor. and they charged for my one yer old baby about 5.xx euro. it was not big deal but bad surprise. reception closed night till morning. they gave us code to use during that time. but after all, good stay. bathroom was very clean but no shower curtain so after shower a lot of water on floor.
Being in an old mansion. Location. Winding stair in bedroom from loo/closet to bed. This is difficult to negotiate at night. So I can't recommend this room.
Ideal location. Helpful staff. Good value. Comfortable rooms with lovely hot water whenever needed. Good breakfast with excellent and plenty of hot coffee. We recommend it. It would have been nice to have had coffee making facilities in our room, but not having them didnn't spoil our stay.
Bathroom was clean and excellent and unlimited hot water - powerful, roomy shower Shortage of pillows, narrow bed, very small but cold room and every time we needed the room heater switched on we had to ask at reception
Quirky interesting hotel. Nice, big bathroom with big, full length mirror. Very good central position with easy access to the main attractions and staff were very helpful Limited facilities in bedroom which were a bit annoying E.G. plug points in inaccessible places, no hair dryer in bathroom as stated on details when booked, no bedside tables or reading lamp by one of the beds. The very, narrow twisting staircase to the mezzanine floor would make it difficult for anyone who wasn't agile to get to bed easily! Only really suitable for children/thin people. Was noisey at night meaning the window had to be shut so was then too hot in the room.
There are no air conditions in the room. And it was very noisy in the morning.
Close to City centre Walls thin, could hear people next door and in corridor
Very gool location, close to palace, 2 minute walk to town Square. clean rooms , good size comfortable bed Staff had quite a bit of diffuculty with english , not a big problem for us could be for some
The location was excellent and the rooms were very comfortable and clean
Very good location, nice rooms Smeal on the hole
I am disappointed, having booked this hotel through Active Hotels, that the single night stay by my wife and her friend was billed as two separate transactions on my credit card, thus attracting extra commission. I have heard of this trick before, it is usually to avoid a single transaction over £100 on a credit card. The check in and room have been ticked as poor because my wife tried to get into her room and the card didn't work. The existing occupant came out to see who was trying to get into his room. What a simple but stupid mistake.
The beds were excellent, nice duvets and pillows. Nice to have a fridge. Great location for sightseeing. Bar area been refurbished since I last stayed there and looks much more modern. No milk or coffee was ever placed in the room - only teabags? Had to ask reception for coffee and bought our own milk. Considering the cost of the room this was playing real cheap. You get tea, coffee and milk in any decent budget hotel nowadays.
The fridge with things to buy in the lobby was well stocked. The breakfast buffet was very good. The bed was comfortable. The room allocated to us was overlooking the breakfast room so we had to keep our blinds drawn most of the time. We were next to the staircase on floor 1 (room 102) so we often heard noises of footsteps and the door slamming on the ground floor. Would not choose this room and you should not be offering it.
Parking close to the entrace for 23 hours.Bed was comfortable They were having major renvation works and did not state this to guess, before arrival/booking. Losy minibar and no open bar services facility due o these works. No meals other tha high cot breakfast. No power plugs beside bed The cost was far too high - should have been a reduction due to virtually no facilities that Mercure normally offer. Moved to nother hotel next day for 30 euros less.
Location and ease of parking. The duvet on the bed was too hot. We had to take it apart.
The location of the hotel was wonderful--mere steps from the Palais de la Papes. Parking was available at an adjacent parking ramp, a big plus for staying in Avignon. It was very difficult finding the hotel as the entrance is located inside the parking garage.
The location of hotel is just 1 minute from the “Palais de la Papes” and all the main attractions. Moreover it has an entrance directly from the public parking (you have a discount from the official price). The staff was kind and speaks a good English. The room was very quite. The room was not so big. The price is high. Sometimes in the hall there was a bad smell (drain?).
staff,comfort,& very convenient location n/a
The hotel situatated was in a great part of town. A five minute walk through the town square and you're at the Pope's Palace The power went off roughly 15 times during the night. It was a cold night so everyone had their space heater plugged in. Apparently the breaker box couldn't handle it.
good location within walking distance of sites and food. bird noise in court yard and rooms. staff had very limited english and did not inform us of hotel hours nor provided security code for late arrival. hotel was generally old and dingy. needs upgrading. no detailed map provided to public parking but 40% discount for hotel guests was generous.
Location is the only positive thing I can say about this hotel. this is a hotel where the owners have absolutely no pride of ownership. there is a sense that no money is put into maintaining and upgrading the facilities.
Nothing The atitude of the staff (female) was extremely rude. She spoke English well, and rude. She is the first person I've ever met in France.
Convenience of location. A bit run down and in need of makeover. lack of anywhere to park to unload
The triple room was a fair size. The beds (the double & sigle) were short and a little uncofortable if you are taller than 5.7ft.
most things no elevator
Location exceleent for being in the hub of things. Not far from main attractions and more important a supermarket Air conditioning didnt work. One tiny wardrobe for 3 people and no drawers to place clothes meant we had to keep our tops in our suitcases.
The location was excellent, 5 minutes walk from The Palais des Papes.
Bra service, hyggelig personale og god tilgang på gratis parkeringsplasser. Lett å finne frem til.
Easy to get to by car. Locked in parking free of charge. Shuttlebus to the centre of Avignon. Clean and comfortable. Nice and helpful staff. Nothing
grovt brød, ost og skinke, og eller kornblanding uten sukker på frokostbuffet.
Service i resepsjonen. Tekjøkken m microbølgeovn.
nytt og pent bør snarest få oppvaskmaskin på frokostavdelingen.
