Excelente location, very good breakfast Room was small
Great Pool.....good breakfast Few rooms with view to the ocean
Restaurant food was very good and well priced. Wireless internet was good. I would like more comfortable and updated facilities in room
Free Internet connection - excellent breakfast buffet - staff very helpful and kind. Maintenance overdue - (i.e. sink tap loosely mounted, windows poorly closing, elevetor not funtioning) - Noise in the room from traffic in the street and poor isolation of the windows
The location right next to the beach is perfect, and the view from the top terrace bar at the 16th floor is absoluty amazing When I checked in, they tried to charged a higher amount then the rate I got at booking.com. I was there with a friend, and they gave me some crap about the reservation only was for one person, although it was for two people. After showing them the receipt where it said clearly that it was booked for two people, I got the right price.
Location is great. Reception Staff and Doorman helped us a lot on any problem. Service is also very good in comparion with the other hotels around the area. Communication is a big problem. All the staff should speak english. Rooms need renovation.
Location , Staff, great breakfast, Very accommodating and honest staff. Roof top observation for the new year fire works display Room was located between elevator and utility room, so we heard noise at night. Note this was a room we paid 600.00$ a night for.
Scarcly furnished room, really not a 4 star hotel, more like a European 2-3 star. Scummy carpet in the hallways and breakfast room, tile floors, bathroom OK, and very loud room due to the fact that the windows are old single pane facing forward to the Copacabana side. Nice view though ;) see above
Hotel is close to the beach. It was built very luxury, but time started taking its own.
The staff were very accomodating. I thought the room furnishings and bed were not up to standards that I expected.
Situated in a nice, safe area on Copacaban Beach close to Ipanema, this is a good quality hotel
Excellent breakfast, good location, comfortable.
Beliggenhet, sikkerhet, tidleg frokost, heilt ok rom. Det var dårleg nettforbindelse. Det betyr mykje på forretningsreiser.
Meget sentralt på Copacabana. God service. Følelse av sikkerhet, trygghet. Raskere resepsjon.
Flott utsikt over Cocabana! Fantastisk frokost, selv om jeg savnet gryn/frokostblandingen med youghurt. Frukten oppveier!
Central location, good facilities and good English speakers at threception
The hotel food was excellent - especially the restaurant. The staff was very helpful and nothing too much trouble. The location was good. I booked a sea view room and a semi deluxe room. When I checked in I double checked the room type with reception who confirmed what I had booked. When we were taken to our room it overlooked a brick wall and no sea view. We were not very happy and asked for a change of room immediately as this is not acceptable. I have read on holiday blogs that this is a regular occurance with this hotel. I would have checked out straight away had the room not been changed.
The breakfast buffet was excellent with a very wide variety of fresh fruit and the view from the beach-front rooms was amazing. The front desk was understaffed and even the most simple request required that we stay in line for 10 minutes. But once you got there the staff was courteous and helpful.
The staff were friendly and helpful and the buffet breakfast was good. The location was good for my business event The room was on an internal lightwell and was very dark. The decor was very dated but there were too few ceiling lights. There were building works going on in the lightwell and this caused some disturbance.
location i have stayed only for 10 hours, so I didn' t find any! The view was awful! Ask for seaview!
We were upgraded to a suite with fantastic view. Staff excellent. Good breakfast.
Fairly good location. I cannot really say anything much more that is positive about this hotel. Like most hotels on the sea front in Rio it is grossly overpriced. The beds were poor quality and uncomfortable. The internet service did not work and they charged me US$2.30 for a cup of tea! Stayed at this hotel 21 years ago -it has not improved with time. By the way, there was NO partial sea view unless you put your head 5 ft out of the window.
I stayed at the refurbished area of the hotel: Double room with partial sea view (It was not necessary, the sea is a few meters from the hotel). Comfortable facilities. Reception staff and room service were very attentive and professional. Breakfast very good. Thel place where coffee is served is too small, incompatible with the size of the hotel. In despite of this, it was good
Location is very good, near from all interesting places the size of the bedding was lower than the bed, lack of a simple coffee machine in room
The location is the best you could ask in Rio. The suite was the most amazing I have seen with two doors to a huge balcony where you can have your morning coffee overseeing Copacabana beach.
I like the friendly staff and the great location of the hotel. The rooftop pool was also a nice touch. The rooms were very old and will need renovations.
Location, pool, view, restaurant. Reception clerks are not kind even rude. I think they don't know the word " sorry ". I was confused who is a customer or a clerk. And even they lied to me. (the parking lot was free but not anymore. - This website is also needed to change the information.) I called them to confirm the reservation and parking lot. At that time they said, the parking lot is free but we paid r$20 per day. They said it's paid from 6 months ago. I think maybe I called ghost. They don't remember our conversation on the phone. It doesn't matter to pay for parking lot but they gave me wrong information, lied to me and never say sorry. I want to ask, is this 5 star hotel?, Are they trained about manner?
staff very friendly and helpful; great location; very good restaurant! rooms not great; adequate however
The staff were plesant and helpful, as stayed previously was comfortable and enjoyable The hotels needs to be refurb asap as it lags behind modern 5 star hotels now, also ran out of silly things like tea, tomato juice and nuts !!!
Great location. Fantastic spacious room. Charging US$40 for 24h internet will make me choose a different hotel next time.
Very poor hotel for a five star. The room are very old style, not at all comfortable. wireless very expensive. Breakfast very poor also for a 5* hotel. Artificial orange juice in a country like Brasil!.... There is a taxi service associated with the hotel that practice prices very high compared with normal taxis. The price changes depending on the day and worker on the entrance of the hotel, etc....
The hotel is conveniently located with amazing views over Copacabana beach from the rooftop. The booking.com rate made it excellent value for money compared to published rates. Staff very helpful and friendly. Room was a bit run down - I have stayed here 3 times in the last 6 years and nothing has been done to touch up the rooms - room in serious need of a paint job; bed linen had holes in it, the bedspreads had stains on them - not what I would expect of a 5-star hotel. The rug in the lounge area at the lobby needs a serious cleaning job! Breakfast (optional) rather expensive.
The only things that I believe they value the money you pay at Pestana are the excellent service, the friendly staff and the perfect location. Make sure you get an ocean view room or better choose another hotel. The hotel can`t classified as a five stars hotel, very old deteriorated rooms and corridors, 80th time furniture, awful illumination and appalling facilities. the hotel needs an overall urgent renovations.
I liked the location, the staff and the lobby/restaurant/bar. The rooms are very dated. Downstairs is very nice so when you see the bedroom is disappointing.
The manager was helpful, fair and considerate. The hotel and your website did not advise me in advance of a policy against having guests in the room.
i was robed on the beach at the hotel while sitting in a hotel chair
The room and the view over copacobana beach was amazing. Staff were very friendly and helpful
Just a breakfast was good. Many different fruit Hotel really poor. Rooms unbealivble small, like a toilet. Very noisy
Very nice staff
Bed was comfortable, breakfast was pretty comprehensive. Nothing else worthy of comment. Hotel is clean and I suppose nice, but for the price paid, it is considered overated and a rip off. Rooms are wood everywhere and coulurs used are a sad blend of same shades. so it feels like your sleeping in a wooden box, Bathroom was small and also no bathrobes incuded, which for a superior double is not the same as other copacabana hotels. Ok for one night passing through, but definetely not a family or long stay venue, Roof top bar is also bad as well. Worth a miss this one unless your stuck which I was.
the safety and well management of the reception the way waiters asks you when in ur way to breakfast about ur room number??
Good location - a small hotel compared with others in Rio. Very strict on departure times, unless you are willing to pay a supplement.
I enjoyed my stay very much and found that everything was comparable to what you would expect from an International Hotel I only stayed for one night so there was no time for likes or dislikes. However I must say that the Breakfast was excellent.
lifts are excellent and fast. breakfast was always very good. ALL the staff (really all of them) were always very courteous and i felt all my belonging were safe. when i stay in other hotels i always take my passport and wallet out with me, i dont even trust the safes; not here. even when i moved rooms, the staff brought things i forgot to my new room. excellent wifi internet facility. first room i stayed in on the 12th floor was too noisy from the machinery/swimming pool engine/airconditioner. got moved to the 10th floor which was better, but windows facing the beach had restricted stay which limited the views one could get. and the walls felt i tad thin. i could easily hear people in the corridor and coughing from the other room.
location, room is very comfortable. breakfast place is too small and always packed. you have to pay for the safe deposit box in your room? absurd!
This hotel has many great advantages: 1. location- to the beach and Ipenema 2. access to restuarantants & supermarkets 3. outstanding staff (Cesar was outstanding) 4. rooftop view of the Christ Reedemer 5. breakfest was pretty good 6. guest atmosphere was pretty cool Furniture is a little outdated..
I was very disappointed to arrive before midday and be charge for an extra nights accommodation when I actually only stayed for one night!!!!!!!!!! Constant work by the pool, and workmen sleeping on the floor all afternoon
I liked the breakfast...eggs, fruit, pastries, meats, cheeses, and coffee The shower in my room was actually one of the best I've ever had. The steam room was nice and the view from the pool waa spectacular. Elevators were a bit shoddy. Overall, I had a pleasant stay Elevators, towels, having to put my key card in a slot in order for the lights and a/c to function.
Location is very good I find it quite expensive
They were so attentive and accommodating
Wonderfully helpful registration staff. They were helpful in finding restaurants and booking trips. We didn't speak the language and needed assistance. The rooms were clean functional and unique. It would be helpful to have a clock in the room but that is not really a complaint.
The location. No.
we booked the hotel through kayak- their website was not working, we had some issues at check in but they were resolved, the stay was great, the rooms were clean and nice , we were upgraded to the executive lounge - breakfast and light dinner was included.food was very good. service was excellent- internet was reasonably fast, all in all - a pleasant stay-
I liked the service the staff provided. I can't remember the guys name at the front desk. He was really nice and spoke 34 different languages which is a plus. The elevators, to small.
I reviewed this hotel in full on my website, please check it out. Alistair Casey http://alistaircasey.com/blog/hotel-atlantico-copacabana
Location. The bedding was thread bear and dingy. They charge for ice. No iron.
Location is good Doesn't qualify as a 4 star hotel. I booked two luxury rooms and recieved 1 basic room and another room which was low level. The facilities are old and the room was not 100% clean. Before charging more than 100 dollars per night, they should take a close look at how a real luxury hotel looks like..
Good breakfast, city tours, good airconditioning Poor internet connectivity...the connection was breaking up
For the value of my money, this was perfect hotel. It was clean, great location ( Copacabana, Metro and restaurants). The staff was polite (Vinnie, Amanda and Rene were remarkable). I found the mattress a bit uncomfortable, but not intolerable.
The staff of the hotel was great, especially Mr. Mario Rene from reception. the stars assigned to hotels in Rio de Janeiro should be reviewed. In general, a 4 stars hotel in Rio is equivalent to a 3-star hotel in europe and this hotel is no exception.
the location was good the room was dirty and dusty, , TV did not work, AC was broken too! had to change room. second room the toilets broke. The room service was terrible, it took 2 hours for the food to come and the food was aweful. The swimming pool had so much bleach that my shorts have bleach stains!
The hotel was what you would expect for the money. The rooms were nice and clean, the breakfast was good and there was a roof top pool We booked this hotel because they said that they had a airport shuttle service, they do not. The staff could have been more helpful and they charge 50c a minute for the internet.
Wifi was reliable and breakfast/location were OK - about a 5 minute walk to the beach in a pretty decent and well lit neighborhood. For US travelers, this is very reminiscent of the highway motels you may have been to in the early 90s - cable TV on a faded CRT tube TV, weird controls for the lights, noisy wall air conditioning unit that sort-of worked and bathroom that's sketchy in every way possible - with a dripping shower to boot. Staff at checkin wasn't too interested in offering maps, directions, suggestions - felt very awkward having to pry some details out of them and all answers were one or two words. They were quite chatty about offering tours and doing currency exchange. At $250/night this is borderline criminal of an accommodation but they are cashing in on the Olympics.
Excellent location in Copacabana. Very helpful staff - front desk, restaurant in particular Watch out for the weekend groups from Uruguay in Friday out Sunday they take over the pool area and adjacent areas on 14th floor - very noisy!
THe air conditioning, the roof top pool and also the wide choice of television channels.
Location is fantastic, unique experience to stay at a hotel which forms part of the Brazilian history. Luxury but with good taste. To wake up, open the windows and see all of Copacabana is incredible!
Customer Service, Izabel reception Manager is very efficient and helpful.
realy nice staff , thanks ! the famous restaurant "cipriani" seve food warm up again !
This hotel is uber-glam! The building is stunning and the rooms are both large and elegant. The people watching here is primo. In addition, the staff (especially the concierges) are some of the best I have ever worked with. I would highly recommend splurging on this hotel to make your stay in Rio unforgettable.
Excellent location on Copacabana Beach. Minutes by taxi to Sugar Loaf, Ipenema and plenty of graet shopping along sidewalks and indoor malls.
Beautiful. There is no bar or restaurant in the main building. Needs more.
Awesome location across from the beach. The rooms and facilities are excellent. The staff are very helpful .. The pool area is in shade most of the day. However the water is slightly heated. We ate at Wee which was disappointing. The food and service were just OK. I ordered Pad Thai. Having just returned from Thailand - this was a poor substitute.
Great Service! Great restaurant MEE! Cesar with guest relations made us feel so welcome. Would definitly recommend this hotel. I look forwardto staying at other Belmond properties in the future.
Pleasant staff, excellent location, comfortable common areas. Room was good, large, with king-size bed and patio. Buses from airport will drop guests outside hotel; buses or metro to Downtown can be caught a couple of blocks away. Bathroom fixtures old.
Location near Copacobana beach and helpful staff The insects in the room, including cockroaches ;(
the location is marvellous. my room was in the 12th floor. the elevator will take you to the 11th only, then you have to use the stairs. i asked fo a king bed, they gave me a room with a two beds.
Recently refurbished on the ground floor to an extremely high standard. My room was 12th floor with personal balcony and overlooking Copacabana. Bathroom was a bit dated and needed sorting but this did not prevent me having a great time.
the kind staff, the good location, the reasonable price
Not a lot. There were massive reno works which were very noisy and the front of the building was a total mess. A temporary reception desk was there but the staff were very slow and no apoligies for the mess. The rooms need a good paint job and the bathroom was something out of a bad 80s movie!
internet connection was very poor
The location The value for money is not too high. Large room good bad but poor furnished, courtains are old and ruined ... Given the location and the range of other hotels in the area it is pretty fair.
Its been a firm favourite of mine for more than 10 years during my business trips to Brazil, Hotel has undergone some excellent re-styling for both accommodition and Hotel lobby/restaurant-bar facilities. If you can get booked in the go for it. Bath robes probably need changing out - A minor complaint only and should not be seen as something which ruins the day.
The new renovated rooms are valueable for the money.
View Overpriced by 30 - 50%
The water that came out of the shower was either freezing cold, or boiling hot- it would change by itself during a shower without reason, so I burned myself a few times.
The hotel has a very good between Copacabana and Ipanema Staff very helpful Think that the hotel is ready for some renewal
Great location. Friendly staff need continuing renovation. Interest service can be spotty. Plumbing problems.
The breakfast, the night shift, The day staff, the reservation office, only the staff was here could not speak to a supervisor, every one in holiday, the cleaning staff are very nice, no late check out very strck,
The staff were amazingly helpful and friendly. My upgrade to a suite was a pleasant surprise. Wall-mounted flat-screen tv was great. The decor is outdated, and needs updating.
Convenient location, a nice outdoor pool, and ok gym (though tiny) Difficult staff, very unfriendly and un-accommodating, spent most of my first day arguing with them about a mistake on their end - first with my room, then with the price. Dirty towels, sheets, room overall
good service, price, cleaniness
Fairly cheap price for the location. Staff let us keep our bags at the hotel for a few hours after we checked out. Good water pressure in the shower. The rooms had very little sound insulation. Everything happening in the hallway sounded like it was in the room. Workout facilities aren't available until 9 am.
Proximity to city, copacabana beach, shops, transportation and restaurants. Internet connections were not always at 100%. Lots of disconnects, but staff was good at crediting unused time.
Location poorly mantained, a bit moldy
The staff was very friendly and very helpful. The staff spoke English and other languages to accommodate all guest. The location and it's close proximity to the beach was very convenient. I would definitely stay here again!!! I didn't like that I could not invite a guest up to the room.
Location and breakfast were very good The facilities (incl. rooms) were pretty old and not well maintained
Great location in Copacabana, very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Rooms are small but have everything you need. The wireless is sometimes too weak in the rooms.
It was a nice hotel, the size of the room was pretty big, the location and the swimming pool on the roof were great. Staff is very nice. There was a terrible smell in the room, the AC in the lobby was really too strong
Rooms were very nice and clean...breakfast was wonderful!
Very friendly/helpful staff. Great location.
Hotel facilities, care of personnel for the guests, quality of the rooms were all very good. Location of the hotel is convenient. Close to the beach, yet off the busy Av. de Atlantica and close to the metro. no
The hotel is good located and staff is friendly. I was on 11th floor but still little bit noisy.
The Hotel was very nice, and the staff where very friendly
It's near to Copacabana beach. You can borrow a towel for the beach at the reception desk. I booked a Luxury room, I do not want to know how look like the Standard ones. I was really disappointed by the hotel and the services.
The excellant hospitality and ambience none
The staff was very friendly, it was clean and 1 block from the beach. I would stay there again.
Good breakfast, located in a correct area. Fair quality/price ratio. Good for young couple or short stay Noisy, a bit old, minimum confort. Should be considered as a 2star hotel (based on french standard). Note: Don't ask the hotel to call the taxi it will cost you at least 60 brl which is expansive compare to regular price.
Great location (close to Copacabana Beach, restaurants and shops) only two small lifts in the hotel and one of them was broken down for several days, fruit salad was fresh on Monday but brown and juicy on Friday, staff was unfriendly, the restaurant was full every morning and staff was too busy to clean the table with something else than their own hands, noise coming from the street (even if the bedroom was located at floor 10!), paid 5R$/day to have a safe in the bedroom, swimming pool is a baby bath
I really enjoyed Hotel Bandeirantes, I found the staff very friendly and helpful, the room clean and large, and the breakfast was really good too. My final price ended up being even cheaper than I had booked originally so all around I was satisfied. Short walk to beach, lots of shops and restaurants just a block away.
The hotel has charged my credit card in advance, 2 weeks before I arrive to the hotel, they shouldnn't do that as the website said it should pay upon arrival, it's terrible!
Location, breakfast and good view from roof. Hotel very expensive for poor quality rooms and customer service.
I found the hotel in general good. The reception staff excellent. The porters very unhelpful. On arrival we battled with our bags to get them up the stairs of the hotel.Only once inside was there any effort to assist us.The staff at breakfast seemed to be there under duress. Most unhelpful.
I am a seasoned and well traveled across the globe, the staff are extremely proffessional yet it can become a bit aloof. However my stay was pleasant, the barman at the pool was very attentative & gave the best service it was pleasure tipping him most generously..I will definately stay there again..room size modest/moden but comfortable. Strange that guests are not allowed in your room, surprisingly it is the 1st hotel that I experienced this.
In my travels with family and friends in Brazil, this hotel was by far the cleanest with the best facilities and views of the ocean. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfasts were excellent. The location was perfect for sightseeing and walking and the hotel catered well for the children in our group.
Staff, the attention at the restaurant. The room was clean and new. Small pool, lack of parking for guests. Not enough towels in the pool area. The behaviour of the guests on the pool area should be watched, it is a family area and I had to leave the area due to improper behaviour of a couple in the pool.
Breakfast, staff, and pool area Non-complimentary wifi
very convenient, very helpful staff, especially at the front desk
Location was great and hotel is not too large and impersonal and is modern light and airy - good plumbing.
All the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and really try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The food is good, and the location is excellent. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable. Many thanks to the staff we dealt with: Aldo, Dark and Debora - they really made a difference to the enjoyment of our holiday.
Hotel location, right on the beach, and exactly in between different areas such as Leblon, ipanema or Santa Teresa, Centro etc...Makes it very convenient to go anywhere in about 15-30 mn taxi ride for about 15-20 R$ Nice modern room with good bed Small bathroom but good shower Restaurant:- breakfast buffet is good; however at dinner we were served micowaved food and service was extremely slow.
Very good location on Copacabana> Friendly personnel and comfortable rooms, all very new. Copious breakfast. Very nice view from topterrace The posted prices of the hotel are high, and no discount the days we were there but this was partly due to a topweek (InternationalConference). Try to choose discountperiods or dates. The pool is very small but everything very clean.
It was in a very good location with a great view, also it was new and very clean! The reseption charge me 30 Reals extra for phon calls and things from mini bar that i dont use at all,but the most important was that they inform me 2 days before my arrive there that they dont accept my credit card(i did my reservation 1 month before).....unbelievable
Really great location, directly across from the beach. The rooms although very clean were very small. The staff however were all extremely Accomodating. They provided us with a late checkout (4pm) free of charge.
Location is good, room is a good size, breakfast is not too bad and if you need room service it is not overpriced. However I would look for another hotel next time in Rio just because of "cost-benefit" issues (see below comments I did not like) Air Con is really noisy (when I say "really" I mean it is extremelly noisy) and it is not a central air con, it's a cheap and old device on the wall - not of 4 stars hotel standard - as well as the bathroom deco is not of a 4 stars hotel. Pool is a joke as well.
It is a great 3 star option, which is priced well in this market. The hotel market in Rio is absolutely crazy when it comes to pricing. There is a huge deficit of hotels, so the prices are much higher in general for what you get...yet the Princess Copacabana is worth the price. Kitchenettes, good air conditioning, spacious rooms, nice breakfast in a good area of Copacabana. Movie theater, KFC, nice bars/restaurants and great grocery store one block away. ATM's and drugstore around the corner. DON'T count on the pool as a source for sun-bathing. I DO recommend the hotel for business travelers and couples, but not for families with small children necessarily. Some of the staff are not the greatest, but overall I recommend it. Keep your expectations to an international level (not European/US level).
Nothing Airco extremely loud when switch on, not powerfull enough. No airco in corridors.
the terrace they try to overcharge my credit card.the stuff unkindly
I liked the proximity to shopping, the beach, and theaters. I also liked the proximity to Copacabana and Ipanema Beaches.
