Is beachfront but the beach is the marina so it's stinks like sewage and the water is brown not blue and full of boats.
Its on the beach, staff was extremly nice-amazing. The beds were hard as rocks. The food needed help!
Yoshi the bar tender at the sports bar is an amazing bar tender. Hotel is close to everything in the area. They push too much with buying a time share "wait they don't call it time share". Just say ur not interested and they'll leave you alone.
Everything, was nice! access to the beach you could improve
Location - close to downtown Carmen Pool some staff Standard rooms are closets food was not impressive and repetitive low shelf alcohol for the price we had a lot better
The all inclusive nature was great, the staff were fantastic. The wine
Generally it was clean and the booze was of good quality. No beach, poor service, resort smells bad and the food is not very good
The room was cleaned and made up very nicely each day. Different animals made out of the shower towels were placed on the bed each night. The food was not up to the usual standards for a hotel of this price range. Spent a lot of time pushing time share options....
Location The rooms were musty smelling. By the end of the trip, everyone had runny noses from what was most likey mold causing the musty smell. Service was terrible, I understand nothing happens quickly in foreign countries, but they were not helpful and didn't care, unlike other all inclusive I've been to in Mexico. The AC in one room did not work, they didn't not want to move the people in that room to a new room with working AC and instead said "Oh, it's working, you have to wait until the sun goes down for it to cool off." Really? No beach side drink orders, you have to go to the bar yourself. Food left a lot to be desired. The Mexican restaurant did not have AC and when we requested to be moved closer to the patio to feel the breeze, we were told no. There were only three other parties in the entire restaurant! I would not recommend this resort.
Good breakfasts available from the hotel restaurant. Price was only $3.00US for anything on the menu. The room needed routine maintenance. Light bulbs out and not replaced, missing shower door, shower head was broken and not replaced until 3rd day. The view from the roof deck is awful due to construction going on all around. The staff is given little authority to make simple decisions. For example, there was a mix up about our breakfast charge. Instead of being able to correct it immediately the staff had to call the manager at home to get his ok. I can't imagine what would happen if there were a real emergency!
The outdoor space, the service and breakfast. The outdated room and damp smell in it.
The location is half a block from the beach and half a block from 5th Avenue. Our room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The AC was great. The shower was hot and had good water pressure. The beds were comfortable, and the housekeeping was great. As soon as we arrived Fanny was at the front desk and we saw her every evening. Her friendliness was so genuine and we loved seeing her and we came and went about our day. She even gave us a wedding gift as she knew we were moving to a resort to get married after our checkout at Illusion. We had the breakfast included package, which was a simple continental spread with an amazing fresh fruit bowl each day. We paid a couple extra dollars to order some eggs off the menu, which was great value. Our server each morning was Alberto who was always so friendly and attentive. Carlos, the concierge, was great at booking us some excursions as well as making some recommendations for a few restaurants to check out off the main strip. Would stay here again when returning to Playa del Carmen.
This was our second stay at Illusion Boutique Hotel. After a year away, it was nice to see familiar faces at the front desk as well as re-connect with the hotel Manager, Yesica. We found birthday and anniversary "surprises" in our room on more than one occasion and always had warm and friendly interaction with all staff members of the hotel.
ease of location, friendliness of staff, clean and affordable
good staff, prety design of the hotel and the rooms, great location (almost on the beach and close to all the main things in playa), nice small out-door pool and not too expensive. I recomnd this hotel. no breakfast.
The staff were so nice and did everything they could to please us, the best service I've ever gotten. The location is amazing, just in the center of everything.
convenient location, friendly staff
A very stylish place to stay. Close to the beach, warm and friendly staff, beautiful rooms. A very romantic atmosphere.
The staff was very friendly and helpful in orienting us to Playa, since it was our first trip. The hotel is conveniently located a half block from the beach, and they have an arrangement with the beach club at the corner, giving guests a 10% discount to use chairs, get food and drinks.
This hotel has a great, unique and expensive look but the prices are so much better for comparable hotels in less desireable locations. If we return to Playa we'll be staying at Kinbe. They kept the rooms very clean but the product they use smells very harsh.
crazy humidity, us could not be lived
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
The room was nicely decorated and clean. The bed was memory foam and amazing - top quality. The staff was attentive and amazingly helpful. The grounds were beautiful and family friendly. But there were areas for adults only which was a plus. I don't have a single negative thing to say about the hotel.
Excellent customer service Everything is nice
I was so surprised on how nice this hotel was. At the price I was expecting a lot less. The staff was very nice. I really like the separation between the family side and single/couples. the hotel has so much charm! Mexico. While I thought Playa was better than Cancun about ripping off the gringo, I was wrong. We got stopped leaving the hotel by the police for going the wrong way on an unmarked 'one way ' street. Officers wouldn't give us the ticket, just $50.00 cash
Beds were hard and a little creeky Really could use a hot tub
The room was clean and the staff was friendly. I'd stay here again!! Very close to 5th ave and a 5 min walk to the beach.
the decor the toilets are not physically separated from the living and breathing spaces in the room. It is awkward to urinate with no door!
This gem of a hotel surpassed my expectations! It was so charming and well kept. The staff was very friendly and told us the best places to eat, sight see and beaches! The continental breakfast was perfect! Would definitely come back again! The only thing was that the bed was a little too firm for my liking.
The grounds were just beautiful and the room was very clean and nice. A peaceful oasis just a few steps from all he action on 5th. The staff was wonderful!
Nice compromise between authentic Mexican and a more modern hotel. Got tired of climbing the stairs. An elevator would have been nice.
Great value for money, good service and nice treatment from the stuff far from city center, poor breakfast
It was in a good location. Quiet off the main drag but close enough to be close to the things most people want to check out. The pools and grounds were very attractive. The staff were not really all that...easy to approach or good communicators, seemed like the guests were a distraction. Also, they said they had Yoga, and they might have, but it was not something that was easy to set up or attend.
Swimming pool is nice and breakfast though simple, is better than usual coffee+pastry. It includes eggs, toast and coffee/OJ. The hotel is 2 blocks from 5th Ave and 3 blocks from the beach. It can be a downside because on one night there was too much action with karaoke singing under our windows until 5 am in the morning. Water was shutting off for 30 min-1h several times each evening. Our fridge was not working and I had to beg to exchange it since we needed to store baby's milk. AC was broken as well but someone came to fix it fast enough. Similarly, I had to ask several times to have 3rd towel delivered to both rooms thou we paid a 3-person rate for each. Overall, customer service is lacking.
I liked the hammocks outside the rooms The aircon didnt work, and the breakfast was a joke: you have to choose between a bowl of corn flakes or one piece of bread.
I like that every morning someone came in your room to clean it So every day was like arriving to a clean room. (Superior King) free wifi, AC I loved everything about my stay (1 week). The price was great. It's walking distance from the beach and 5th avenue. The staff is great. There is a little restaurant right across(casa tucán) the have the best guacamole. So happy the hotel is right in front. I would definitely book again!
Location and price - 24 hour internet stopped working at 11 pm - shower was awful..water dripped out...and that was after having it replaced 4 times - no water in the morning to shower or flush toilet - mosquitos and ants in the room and bed - loud music all night long - bed was like sleeping on cement block
Simpel clean hotel for travelers on a budget. The staff is really friendly and willing to help. The hotels is located one block from the beach and 5th avenue. There is also a simple breakfast included in the price. One of the few hotels in real Mexican style in Playa During the weekend there was alot of noise due to the german bar behind the hotel. Nothing earplugs can't take.
Good location and pleasing decor - very tranquil. Helpful hotel staff. Free telephone and internet services. We had booked a room for three people - the third bed made it very cramped - there was nowhere to unpack or hang clothes or move around once we were all in. While it was absolutely fine for two people I wouldn't recommend it for three.
The ambiance of the hotel, the location, it's a quiet place and Wifi access for free.... that's a great place for this price. I recommend it. bed is a little hard
location and the hotel staff nothing
Location of the hotel was excellent for seeing the town centre, and there were plenty of restraunts and bars within easy walking distance. The included continental breakfast was very poor, without even any bread or toast.
The location was great. No pool, no in room tv, low shower water pressure and very small rooms
Hotel staff was knowledgable about local activities and helpful. The booking.com site listed the hotel as having a shuttle service included in the price of the room. This in incorrect. The shuttle service is nothing more than the hotel calling a cab for you. You are responsible for all charges from the taxi. This was poor advertising on someones fault and I would not have booked this hotel if I had known that. Also some of the widows were nothing more than screens with wooden shutters. It meant the rooms had little sound insulation.
great place for the price. good location. only a block or so from 5th (shops, bars, restaurants) about 3 blocks from beach and easy access to public transportation; bus station. reception staff friendly, helpful and accommodating. 2 guys (1 each day) overseeing continental breakfast were not friendly or cordial at all. which is not a huge deal, except if you are in the business of serving people, it is important to note.
Located in the centre of tourism for Playa del Carmen, very nice relaxed atmosphere No parking available at the hotel (which is set on a pedestrian precinct) so every day we had to trawl the surrounding streets for a legal parking space
The beds were firm but very comfortable, unlike so many beds in that area. The air conditioning was excellent and there was a ceiling fan too which gave us many options in keeping cool, depending on the humidity. Bottled water was available 24/7 from a large carafon in the hall If the water carafon was emptied during the night/early morning, the guest would have to replace it--a problem for most women to carry it then lift it onto the stand. Our room would have been a little more comfortable with one chair. WiFi was available in only one corner of the room.
The hotel is in a good position because it is central though in a quiet area of the town. Quality / price is fair, though we find something better in Mexico. Too many mosquitos in the room, as the mosquito-nets were all broken. Bad smell of humidity.
Pretty hotel, original decoration. Central. Room a bit damp. No defense against mosquitos! (Would be better to have netting in the windows).
The location is excellent as well as the exterior design: the lobby. In the room I was assigend I missed a footmat in the shower and a modern toilet.
Good location, beautiful reception and lobby area, helpful staff. We booked a day trip in reception to Tulum and Xel-Ha which was great value and handy as we only stayed a few days, including pick up direct from hotel... No phone in room, hotel lobby is decorated much better than the rooms themselves
location Had a late check in and my room was given away. They gave another in different hotel which was terrible! I was only staying one night so not a big deal. I booked one more night stay 2-days later and was promised a good room at Posada Mariposa Boutique Hotel by Cesar to make up for them giving my first room away. When I returned for my second stay I made sure to arrive earl (11am) they gave me a room in the lobby next to storage and front desk (Room No.11). It was very laud, the room smelled horrible and the one and only window was facing the lobby. I saw Cesar after my check in and asked what happened with the better room? He said someone else took it.
Great location in the middle of the activities in Playa. Great staff. Very willing to assist. Wife loved it. beds were a little hard.
The staff is nice and someone is always on duty so if you have any needs they are there. I stayed on the ground floor and two couples stayed in rooms close to me with young children. This made it a little noisy at times....next time I would stay on the 2nd or 3rd floor.
We liked the hotel very much . beautiful beach ,nice pools. The reseption staff was however not to helpful and friendly.. And it was hard to get towels in the room!! HAD to ask for them almost every day! But other that we koved the hotel! Make the cleaning staff provide towels!! More friendli reseption staff!
Staff was excellant; very friendly and accommodating. Hotel grounds were impeccable. Pleasant surroundings, great location in Playa del Carmen. Not enough area by the pool for sunning.
location standard plus rooms could have been nicer for money.
Great location, comfortable rooms, friendly and helpful staff, beautiful pool and garden area.
location, cleanliness, friendly staff, beautiful hotel
Excellent... Beautiful hotel in great location Our room on the 3rd floor had a leak in the shower room / area, which leaked all over the floor and left a slight 'damp' smell in the room. But apart from this - everything else was excellent.
We love the courtyard, the restaurant and the overall general appearance of the hotel. We enjoyed the hot tub as it was quite cool in the evenings. The layout and appearance of the pool and surroundings are very attractive. The bed sheets are really awful though, should definately be upgraded to a softer, more luxurious material. Also the room decor is very stark and unappealing. Horrible mustard yellow curtains and no artwork or decoration at all. These factors, unless improved, would definately deter me from future bookings or recommendations. The pool is also very cold and uninviting as far as temperature goes.
courtesy and relax
Some noise due to its central location in Playa del Carmen.
The Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful Only some of the noise with the building works
Great staff. Great location. Rooms are so-so. Nice pool and very good bistro. Noisy hotel. Construction and the night club in the same block contributed too much noise.
Great location, decent hotel, and hard to beat for the price. Staff work very hard to make your stay enjoyable. Rooms could be updated and more seating could be added in the bar area - at busy times before and after the shows there was quite a crowd and not many seats available.
Professional staff, food at the restaurants and buffets always fresh. Food was delicious. Excellent location. Well maintained grounds. Very good entertainment. Beds were hard.
We were looking for accomodation where we could experience some of mexico rather than be huddled away in some extravagant resort. The location of the blue pearl was perfect for what we were after, we were able to walk to the beach, walk to the shopping area for dinner and just enjoy the area. The actual accomodation at hotel was fantastic, very clean, heaps of room and the staff were lovely - highly recommend
optimal location in walking distance from beach and main shopping street with bars, restaurants, malls, and shops. Apartment is well equipped and terrace/balcony is spacious and private.
Proximity to beach, restaurants; plenty of space to relax; option to prepare own simple meals; pleasant modern design. Sometimes a bit noisy because of nightlife - music from clubs, guests coming in very late.
Very close to 5th Ave and the beach. We stayed in Suite 2 and if we closed the doors to the bedroom we didn't hear any late night noise even though it was Spring Break.
the closeness to the beach cockroaches, loud noise and no hammock
The position is excellent and the rooms were beautifully presented and well equipped There was a lot of noise all night from a nearby disco.
First of all, the location is perfect: one block from the beach, one block from Quinta Avenida, the main street. Large suite with lots of space, kitchen facilities, and small patio with tub. The main room was dark and nearly windowless. This surprised me when I first went in. The bedroom, however, has patio doors and was nice. The entrance area of the hotel is very basic and there are no common areas, and other hotels in the area are much nicer in this respect.
The location of the hotel is excellent.one minute from the beach and the parties are right outside ur door but when u decide to go back to your room the music won't bother you a bit!!The service was excellent as well as the cleanliness of the room!!make sure to visit the rooftop !it's amazing!! Even though they said they offered wireless service me and my friends could not get any!
very comfortable appartment. good self-catering facilities. lovely balcony hot tub. lovely cooling roof top plunge pool with views over carribean. everybody very friendly. a bar (even an honesty bar) on the rooftop would have been awesome!
Big rooms, seperated bedrooms, friendly and very personal service. The hotel was great, but the surrounding area is a bit of a partyzone
Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Beach two blocks away. Great location. Great breakfast. Mattress was too firm.
The staff super friendly, the location and the price were good. There was something wrong with the toilet and the whole room smelled like poop. We didn't ask to change rooms because we only needed to stay one night and i overheard the hotel was full for the night. If you're there to party like us, you probably won't mind the noise and loud music coming from the bars.
Hotel room was large and stylish. Front desk was friendly and helpful with suggestions of what to do during my stay. I would definately stay there again.
Fantastic location. Noise would only be a problem if you want to go to bed early. If you do then don´t stay anywhere on 5th Ave!. Hotel was fantastic, Clean, Bathrooms were very small however the hotel was spotlessly clean. If your looking for a great hotel thats close to all the action and has a great rooftop bar with a great atmosphere then I would defiantly recommend this fantastic hotel. Its perfect for short visits to a great place!...Loved it. If I have to pick anything I would say the size of the bathrooms..VERY!!!! small.....But its not a big fault really.
We absolutely loved Hotel El Punto which is located in the heart of Playa Del Carmen on 5th Avenue. We were mere steps away from it's bustling shops, restaurants, and nightlife. This boutique hotel is modern in design and the rate is unbeatable. The staff were also extremely accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was included a couple of blocks away at a hip restaurant on the beach. We highly recommend this hotel The wireless internet did not work in the rooms. You had to go downstairs to access the internet.
The hotel is phenomenal! What a great place to stay on 5th Avenue in Playa. I would recommend it to anyone. I was there for a business trip and stayed for two nights. The restaurant upstairs had great food and a wonderful atmosphere. The shopping is one step outside the door and seconds to the beach. I will stay her again!
very nice and modern hotel, right on the main 5th av street, very close to the beach. the breakfast is in a great beach club and the food is great and also the atmospher where you can spend the whole day .we loved the nice rooftop Bar. other then that we had a great time in Playa del carmen!!!
Grounds were fairly nice. Room seemed clean. Pillows were horribly uncomfortable really almost comically bad pillows -- mak ing decent sleep impossible. My wake up call came an hour and a half early at 2 am! No hot water for shower. Ceiling super thin heard every footstep of upstairs neighbor. No view from room. Service was not great. Drinks weren't good and food was just okay.
The most wonderful resort, outstanding position, excellent service and staff. Near and easy to visit Playa del Carmen by using the local transportation. Perfect vacation.
Overall the resort was very comfortable. We could have as much privacy or as much social interaction with others as we wanted, and the staff was extremely helpful with everything. The ocean itself was disgusting. The water in the Riviera Maya is supposed to be clear and beautiful, and typically it is, but where we stayed it was murky and full of trash (our ocean view included floating plastic ware). Thankfully, the resort had two pools. Next time around, however, we may opt for a hotel that isn't all inclusive but has a beach we can swim in.
Sax Player, Club Level Beach Beds, Landscaping, Italian Restauant, Not enough bars, swim up bar in bad shape, better daytime activities at pool, beach area in front of resort not great,
Affordable for the level of service provided
Activities restaurants beach chairs Front desk staff not very friendly.
Nice layout, landscaping and beach access. The quality of the food was lacking at the buffett. Finding out upon arrival, that depending on the number of days you were staying, granted how many restaraunts you were allowed to dine at. Very disappointed in that since the buffett food was bad.
Modern design. The location is terrible- just right the main motorway. If you are thinking to use it as a family hotel, forget about it. It take an ages to get to the central part of Playa del Carmen. Other think is breakfest- really plain and simple.
staff very friendly, good breakfast not really close to anything
Nothing but internet service Breakfast
The staff was friendly and the continental breakfast was good. The hotel was very clean and well-kept. This hotel is misleading with the "beach club" atmosphere in the description. It's a taxi ride to go anywhere, including the beach and the pool is barely bigger than a bathtub. Too far out of the way. Pay a few dollars more and stay downtown. It will save you on cab fare.
the hotel was so clean the bed was small enough
the room was very clean and the situation of the hotel is very good. You are near the center of Playa del carmen but if you want to go to Xcaret, xelha, etc..., the location is perfect the breakfast is a little poor.
Staff and Hotel's atmosphere were very good! Nothing.
On waikiki beach, starbucks at ground floor. Old furniture, small bathroom. The staff is not very kind. Wifi available only in the common areas.
Perfect location, very friendly and proffesional staff. All in all a very nice hotel which We would visit again. Would be nice with included breakfast.
Staff very friendly and always willing to help, clean rooms, great balcony with a hammock you can just relax in all day long, even if its raining. Great location. Very recommended.
Good value, on the beach, clean and nice room, quiet Pool is really small but the ocean is right there
location ( central ) , friendy staff , nice , clean and big rooms no parking space
Good position, amazing ocean view, hammock in the balcony, very clean, kind staff, nice little pool. There was also a mini breakfast includeed (mini croissants and coffee). The room is fantastic: comfortable bed, fridge, microwave, safety box, free water to drink and coffe. Good prices for beers and drinks in the room. The indigo restaurant near the hotel on the beach is cheap and fantastic (you can order from your sunbed). There is a little noise (only music) all the nights till the 4-5 in the morning because is near the streets of discos. There are too many boats in front of the beach (but it's a problem of all Playa del Carmen). Be careful when you pay because they made a mistake and i was paying 300 dollars more than my booking. It's because they make you pay in Pesos, but they didn't it voluntarily.
we loved the hammock!!! The loud music from the beach bars next door kept me from sleeping until 4am and on a saturday morning at 8am construction next door started... Not exactly what we had paid for!!
Great ocean views. I felt pampered by the superior, friendly staff. Loved the fresh towel creations each day. Grounds well kept, location perfect- access to beach, numerous places and activities. Thank you, our stay in Playa Palms made our vacation very pleasurable.
Proximity to the beach. Clubs next door are a little loud
Loved our stay on the beach.
there are several nightclubs in the vicinity of the hotel that play loud music until 4am on thursdays & fridays, which is a drag if you like peace and quiet.
Last month, my husband and I had the pleasure of celebrating our tenth anniversary with five nights at The Tides. We have traveled all over the world and have never seen or experienced a place like this. The Tides has a magical atmosphere that feels dreamy, serene, and extremely upscale. We did not have to choose between the beach and the jungle; at The Tides we enjoyed both! The stunning entrance and common areas of the property open onto a beautiful beach dotted with personal cabanas and hammock beds. The walk to our villa on the meandering path through the jungle was a joy every time we took it! Our room was lovely, homey, and very comfortable. We loved having our own patio, hammock, heated pool and dining area. From the exquisite homemade natural soaps to the earthy copal incense, The Tides does not miss a detail and made us feel right at home. We did not experience bug problems (other than some ants the first couple of days), but we did see an impressive array of wildlife (mostly...
