Fordeler: We liked the style of the property - one of the first hotels in Figueira da Foz, restored and very well maintained. It is charming and, at the same time, has many facilities for guests. The staff is also great! Emilia, the host, is someone you can always count on: she is beyond kind and helpful and supported my family whenever we needed, always with a smile and patience. The breakfast: great!

Ulemper: I really liked the breakfast, it was tasty and nourishing. However, somebody more picky might find it lacking in options. Also, a minor inconvenience was that most of the staff did not speak English and I did not speak any of the languages they did (French and Spanish).

Fordeler: Location is at the other end of the old town but there are very pleasant wood planked walks on the sand. Parking was all booked out but easy to pay a few Euro and park in front of the hotel. This is ok as long as you dont intend to spend the day at the beach - otherwise youll have to keep running back and pay up. Hotel is easy to find and ok for a night in this place. The town itself is not super exciting. Rooms are clean, a bit sterile but practical and functional. There was no safe in the room - strangely enough.

Ulemper: Breakfast was rather disappointing. Everything felt like out of a can or mass packaging. The town itself is not super exciting,, so if you use it more as a stop for an afternoon and evning on your trip from Porto to Lisbon, it's ok and convenient and gives you a bit of a feeling for these coastal towns.

Ulemper: The air conditioner in my room did not cool. At the desk, the clerk told me that it was impossible to make any temperature adjustments. He told me that the hotel has some rooms with possibility of temperature regulation, but these rooms were already occupied. According to him, the temperature of my and other rooms was set at 25ºC. It was very difficult to get a car park.

Ulemper: There was noticiable mildew in the first room in which we stayed. We were changed to another one after complaining. The second room also developed mildew in the bathroom during our stay, lowering the quality of the air. It is very taxing to have to state the obvious all the time, specially given the price (more than 100 e/night and overall more than 600e). The only reason for which we stayed is that we were asking to pay upfront before having seen the bedroom. Stay clear of the restaurant. Definetely not good value for money. Wouldn't recommend.

Fordeler: The hospitality off the owners. There are at a older age but very friendly. I can give a tip for foreigners. Install a translator application on your cellphone because the owners don't speak another language then Portuguese.

Ulemper: This accommodation is for the moment under renovation. Half the hallway that I must cross to go to my room is under renovation. There is no trouble for the guests and no heavy noises off renovation.

Fordeler: Boutique feel. With an incredible view of the widest beach in Europe. Awesome sunsets! Great beds with plush bedding. Very clean bathroom. Staff was very attentive . Convenient location, not far from the train/bus station and wonderful to just walk around and get to know Figueira da Foz.

Ulemper: It could use a bit of an update, carpet is starting to wear and furniture looks a bit worn. A gasket on our window was broken and it rattled loudly in the wind all night long. Also, we paid for the circuit in the spa downstairs, which was great, although I could smell mold, and while waiting for me to finish changing, one of the ladies in the spa was peppering my husband with questions about the American president. Telling him how great he is and how much she likes him. Not exactly the relaxing finish we were hoping for.

Fordeler: Not sure if it was worth the money, but I think that’s typical for the area. The room was pretty basic. Secure parking for a little extra nearby was handy.

Fordeler: I was upgraded to a Junior Suit without asking of which I really appreciated and enjoyed. Rooms were big, comfortable beds and great balcony with awesome views.

Ulemper: Would have been nice to have kettle to make a cup of tea. I’m British!

Fordeler: teenaged child wasnt allowed to swim, and we had to pay a spa in order to swim, front desk staff the first few days we were there were not good

Ulemper: staff, greeting and arranging luggage up to room etc, treating a teenaged child like an adult not a baby would have also been good.

Ulemper: Batteries were flat in all controllers, hairdryer didn’t work. Small things that were more of an annoyance than a problem. These did not impact our stay overall.

Fordeler: The staff was amazing! The lady at the reception made me feel welcome, the lady at the breakfast knew my room number after 2 days although they had many guests and she quickly and quietly organized everything, e. g. put tables together for groups, the cook prepared dinner for me before the official time and even asked whether the ba nana met my taste before he prepared it, the cleaning ladys were very friendly and even put my bathing shoes so the could dry better and let me check out a little later - wow!
