Ibis is located right on the docks and above the metro station. We loved the colors of the barges and the city outside our window. The location was so central to museums, the historic neighborhoods and important monuments. Breakfast was pretty weak and the pillows were a bit clumpy.
Staff at front desk were friendly enough and spoke a little English; elevators were functioning and clean, room was minimalist but clean and comfortable and quiet; bathroom was clean with nice showerhead; front desk called a private taxi for us when we checked out. A young man on the staff went out of his way to let us know how long we could expect to wait for the cab and to let us know when it arrived for us. We missed the full breakfast, so when we went to the self-serve breakfast afterward, the options were limited to basically bread, coffee, and tea. That would have been fine, except staff did not seem interested in making breakfast easy or comfortable for us. The area was messy from the full breakfast earlier that morning, and we had to ask where to sit and how to get our food, because the staff in the cafe area were not especially attentive or helpful to us obvious foreigners.
the friendliness of the owners there way of welcoming and such a nice house
The owners, Doris and Carolina, are the only staff and from the start treated us more as friends than as guests at the hotel. The hotel is on the hill above Valparaiso, but with the information provided by our host, it was made easy to find our way in and out of the area, at very reasonable costs. Where else could you expect the host to provide you with a guided tour of the easy access from the town? The whole experience was enchanting!
