Location, view, pool, beach, facilities, extras Our short stay
Beautiful grounds. Close to the beach. The room was uncomfortable, air noisy, TV did not work well
The chairs and umbrellas on the beach where great! Always out on time! The use of their bikes was great, we used then every day! The beach was beautiful and very clean! Was disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. Upon arrival our door trim was broken, dust stuck to trim and hair from another guest. Food stuck on "clean" silverware in drawer. Walls need to be painted, dirty walls, chipped paint, mildew on curtains and a musty smell. The bikes needed some matinees, oil the squeaky parts and fix the broken baskets. Only one bike with a basket and it was broken. Not sure if we would stay again. The price would have to be quite a bit less than we paid. Stayed in many supper 8 and other Cheeper places that where much nicer.
I did like the closeness to beach, also that all the amenities were included like the use of bikes, kayak, paddleboard and also a lot of beach umbrellas and chairs on the beach. Very quiet place to stay. The staff were a lit of bit rude. We were there early at12 and chech in was at 4pm and check out at 11, they did nothing to try to gave us a room earlier we wait for our room until 2pm.
Found great shells on the beach right out front. Awesome pool. Free bikes and kayaks. They set up chairs and umbrellas every morning. Love the beds and having a large fridge and oven in room. Very nice staff. Nice spot on the island.
We passed 4 or 5 times to find the hotel, it was difficult to spot it. They told us that they were not allowed to put a sign on the road. AC was right beside the bed and it was very noisy. No fan in a bathroom which was unusual in a hotel.
Breakfast was good, staff polite Room was very hot. Very uncomfortable entire time.
My husband and I were in the area for the weekend. Good location for us. Also liked that there was a free breakfast and Wi-fi. We'd stay again. We requested a quiet room. We didn't exactly get one. They put us at the end of a hall where there is door to the outside. It banged until quite late with guests going in and out. Thank God for earplugs!
Great location on the beach. Small room and very small bathroom 1 person only. Room had light outside door that shine in the room.
Did not clean room very well. Leftover coffee from AM was left in pot and coffee cups were never washed out just left in bed area. The coffeemaker is located in the bathroom on the small sink counter! Yuk! Forgot to empty trash cans. Beds were obviously made in a rush. This place is definitely in need of some updating, both inside and out!!
Room was nice. Kitchenette was well supplied. View was breathtaking. bathroom counter top was spacious. Adored our screened-in balcony with chairs and table--it even has little hooks to hang out your wet bathing suit! Tons of hangers in the closet was really helpful. Room safe was very helpful to put wallets away when going to the beach. Pool was lovely. Pool bar was great for a drink or a snack. Plenty of pool towels for poolside or oceanside use. Could inexpensively rent umbrella and chairs for beach use. Business center let me get my boarding passes printed easily. Front desk was very nice and always helpful. Plenty of parking near our room. We did have one roach in our room, but front desk had spray and it's the only negative issue we had.. Cleaning team was mediocre. They did an okay job but not a terrific job.
Secluded beach front location. Well maintained for an older resort. The hotel is arranged so that most rooms have a view of the gulf. On site restaurant was very good.
Quiet and relaxing setting, Tiled room made it for a clean stay without the worries of carpet stains or oders. Updated bathroom is nice. The refrigerator and microwave are a plus for snack packing. Flat screen Television has a clear picture. Very informative and friendly staff.
The location was great with a beautiful view. Loved being close to the beach and having a short drive to the shops and restaurants. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful as well. The parking wasn't very accommodating. The lot is gravel so the parking spaces aren't marked. The residents would take too much space up, so that would leave a lot less parking places. There were several times we would have to park on the other side of the hotel. The shower door wouldn't stay shut and water would get on the bathroom floor.
Great location Beautiful grounds that have a lot of potential if properly maintained Poorly maintained. Ponds are all neglected. Air conditioning is old and very noisy. Interior needs updating and maintenance. "24 hour Coffee" that's cold most of the time. This hotel would be awesome if it was updated and well maintained.
Just very peaceful and quiet. Everybody went out of their way to make my stay as pleasant as can be, and I think them for it.
Beach Mosquitoes. Lots of mosquitoes
Clean, friendly and close to the beach. The restaurant and gift shop were very pricey so we chose to not make use of them. The poolside bar had fabulous cocktails and great burgers that we enjoyed a lot.
Very nice location and relaxed enviroment
This is the second time we stay at the Neptune and we LOVE it! It's very clean and bright in the rooms. Love having all the amenities of home with the living room and kitchen.. They do such a great job cleaning the place every day. The beach is AMAZING and the pools are too. The Plumeria tree was in bloom...what a bonus! Mmmmmm
time of relaxing and fun for the whole family some of the hotel staff is not really what you expect, a little rude and did not care about guests
Nice hotel at great location directly at the beach! Two pools to swim with free towels provided. We stayed for 3 nights in the newly renovated North Wing. The dolfins in the morning and evening are really close to the beach, as where the Stingrays...
I liked the proximity to the pier and Times Square. It was a short walk to restaurants and shops but far enough away from the crowds at the pier to make it family friendly.
My room had a great view, and I was close to the beach. I had lots of room to spread out and even invite friends over. The ac in my living room didn't work at all, so that room was very hot. Both ac units were SO noisy! The rooms felt clammy. I wish there had been an onsite place to eat breakfast, but there were places nearby. It's just that the construction made it tough to get to places easily. One of the pools was not available, so we we couldn't find chairs near the operating pool.
great location to beach and pool since we were on the ground level we had no way to dry beach towels and bathing suits.
Very relaxing stay. Nice Room and service. Employees were very courteous to us. Easy access to beach. Just couldn't stay longer.
the location was superb, the staff was very friendly and helpfull. The appartments are very well equipped and the pool is extremely nice. Maybe a little safe would be great in the room. The AC should be placed in the livingroom instead of the bedroom.
This motel is a real value if you want to stay directly on the beach. The older south wing units are large, clean, and comfortable with a perfectly functional kitchen and a wall of windows overlooking the two pools and the beach view/sunset. Carpeted floors are the only negative we could find. The updated north wing units have more desirable tile floors and a separate bedroom, but you pay the price. It's a nice and easy walk to tennis at Bay Oaks Park, or up to the Times Square area of Fort Myers Beach..."Should we walk the beach or the street?"
The room and the staff. Construction late morning after arrival in hallways. It was very loud and no warning.
The proximity to the beach Staff is pleasant Tiki Bar No music after 8pm on Friday night or after 5pm on Saturday Outrigger really needs a bigger pool or a second one
Location Was never informed that there was construction going on right next to our room. They claimed they sent an email out to everyone, which I never got, yet I was even there in person a couple weeks prior to our stay to upgrade our room and at that time there was no construction going on and was never told there would be. We have a 3mo. that kept being woken up with all the noise. No cable the fist night. No internet the entire stay until the couple of hours the last day. Was told it was an island wide problem, yet the resort next door had working internet during the time they did not??? The toilet wouldn't flush unless you held the handle down for 30 sec. There were ants all over the kitchen. When I notified the staff about all these issues, rather than providing good customer service I was treated like, "oh well, nothing we can do about it" and got the feeling like I was being treated without respect because I booked through a deal site and not directly as if that didn't make me a true guest. Not once did any of them even apologize for the conditions. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. Ever!
Nice weather and location The ice machines location
The Tiki Bar was incredible, all made possible by the bartenders...Kimberly, Jim and Kevin. They were a blast! The patio was a great place to group up and re-live memories.
Loved the oceanfront suite, great view, full kitchen(not used though),room comfortable, balcony with fabulous sunsets, chairs and lounger, 2tv's, Staff very nice and helpful. Sent us champaign for our second honeymoon. Tiki bar very friendly, great view of sunsets. Will go again.
It's a nice hotel in a great location - and the front desk staff were fantastic. Hate to go to a really nice hotel and in the room have only plastic cups wrapped in plastic for water, or to drink my coffee in a flimsy paper cup in my room.
Resort was not a big fancy place, but was smaller and quieter which was perfect for myself and teenage daughter! There was a mix of all types of guests from young couples, to families and retired couples. Everything you needed was right there at the resort or a short bike ride away. We loved the availability to take out a bike any time during the day. The resort staff were friendly and always helpful. The beach was clean and full of shells, just beautiful! The pool was also relaxing when the beach got too warm. It was a nice size with plenty of chairs and a pool side bar and small cafe. We loved the trip and resort and can't wait to take the whole family back! The only negative was that if the wind was above 35 mph we couldn't use umbrellas on the beach and there was limited shade at the pool.
The staff were amazing, they endured we had everything we needed
location and staff leaky air conditioner....water all over the balcony slow-draining sink in the bathroom sand fleas in the bed maid cleaned the coffee cups with her bare hands...no gloves....no soap...
facilities old, cockroaches in my room!!!!
Very clean room. Staff was very friendly. Loved that to use bicycle, umbrella and kayaks did not cost us additional money. Restaurant on premise was very good food and friendly staff. Great value for your money. Easy to get find the hotel.
Love, love, love Sanibel Island and Sanibel Inn. Everybody was very helpful. Front desk staff especially Eric was welcoming and helpful. I would definitely go back again and stay here. Everything

The location is great. Our unit was very clean and had wonderful views. The balcony is such a plus. It added extra space as well as ambience for looking out over the water. We had only planned to stay for one night and extended our stay to 3 nights. No
I loved it here! Such a nice place. Every one was so nice and the restaurant, Flippers, was excellent!
The pool and pool area were beautiful, as was the beach. It was very quiet, room was big, and the beds were comfortable. Continental breakfast was great, and served on real tableware!! Large, screened balconies would've been great for sitting out on and enjoying the scenery if the weather had cooperated. I have no complaints about SOS, and hope to some day return.
this hotel is a very small and charming place to stay.the staff is very friendly and helpful.the beach is very private and a short walk from the rooms.the rooms are very clean and quiet.the sister hotel right next door has a walking path and is larger with more amenities like a bar and restaurant.there are many small and quaint restaurants within 10 minutes driving time to choose all varieties of food so drinks and food are close and you never have to leave island.the pool and grounds are well maintained and chairs and umbrellas placed on beach for you at no cost.this is a great place for relaxing and a bargain for the price.you will be happy you stayed here,
My husband and I came here for our honeymoon over July 4th - it was wonderful! The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. They have bikes available to rent (fun!) and the rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast each morning was an added bonus! Short walk to the beach. Quiet, relaxing and homey. Fireworks were shot off from the beach on the other side of the island and it was totally worth it to take a sunset fireworks cruise - many places will pick you up right in front of the hotel (so you can avoid the tolls on the bridge).
We were not impressed with the Song of the Seas. Our floor was dirty (even after she 'cleaned' our room and our bedspread was dirty and stained. The staff was great. We loved the island.. wish our hotel would of been nice.. we would of stayed another night.
This was a nice quiet hotel on the beach. The location was perfect just a short distance to the lighthouse and not too far from restaurants on Periwinkle. The breakfast each morning was nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. The free bikes were especially nice and we used them everyday. The only cons were the bedroom was very small. If you are claustrophobic this could be a real problem. Also when the person upstairs used the bathroom, especially at night the sound was very loud. We found ourselves being woken several times in the night. Maybe an upstairs cottage would not have this problem. The hotel is in need of updating but it is clean. Overall, this is a nice place to stay in Sanibel.
We had a very relaxing vacation. Our room was very nice. The staff was excellent. Song of the Sea was small (30 rooms) and we met people from all over the country. We had a lot of fun shelling. Swimming, shelling, and shopping. Great time !!!
We stayed 6-1 thru 6-6-10 The staff was excellent, very nice great to talk with and helpful. Beds were not the best. We were wondering if the economy had anything to do with why they couldnt purchase a new matress. Food was OK, very convienent. Rooms were cleaned everyday. Overall a ggod place to stay.
I was more than impressed with accomodations at The Song Of the Sea. The room was always meticulously cleaned everyday we were there. The continental breakfast was great, we never left hungry. The sister resort next door had a restaurant in it which provides a diverse menu. The food was good at a reasonable price. The beach in front of the resort always had beach chairs available. Everynight we went out to catch the beautiful sunsets. We actually got to see manta rays and dolphins swimming in the water. I would definately recommend this resort to anyone that is thinking about visiting Sanibel Island.
The staff were so extremely friendly and helpful to any question or request we had. Thank you Katie for the awesome waffles...we will miss you every morning! One warning...Sanibel Island has a speed trap set at the bottom of the bridge so do NOT exceed 30 miles an hour! The is no opportunity to slow down when exiting the bridge so start braking early.
We had the most wonderful and relaxing vacation. Song of the Sea is the perfect place for that quiet getaway, and very close to all the fun restaurants & activities on Sanibel. The staff was absolutely SUPER and attended to all our needs. The hotel is older, but very clean and well kept. The beach access is perfect from the resort - with nice chairs and umbrellas. The pool and spa was a perfect spot to rest after a day at the beach - all kept spotless. We were mostly impressed with the quiet and serenity of Song of the Sea. Loved the high quality bedding and bath items.
My wife and I loved this place. Very clean, shower pressure was great, breakfast was great and did I say the place was clean. The only thing I was disappointed in was we stayed in the only section that didn't look directly to the water. Other than that, great place to stay. Chairs were put on the beach every morning. Staff was really friendly.
We booked this from the pictures and reviews on travelocity and it was perfect, exactly as shown and review. The staff is great and we had comp breakfast every morning plus a comp bottle of wine in our room when we arrived. Loved the screened porch.
Chose this location as it was very close to the beach where we were married and wanted to return to that spot with little to no difficulty. Nothing
Condo could use an upgrade. Bathroom very small. Carpet in poor condition.
i loved Danny! He was so awesome! Did everything he could to make our stay great! Thanks! It was being renovated but that means it will just be better later
The complete staff was pleasant to talk to from property worker to the maids. and had great time talking with the bar staff Rodney, Shelly, Pam, and Dave love all them planning on returning next year and hope I can talk my staff to join me. Thank you for a great week
Very nice old Florida atmosphere with a great tiki bar. The rooms were large and the king bed was very comfortable. The furniture a bit dated but nice, clean and neat. On May 17th, a not so well-traveled person, said the price was too high for off season. We stayed there the evening of June 23 and I thought the price was very reasonable for this type of property and the location.
Everything! Clean rooms great location great staff! Nothing
The location is great and you really couldn't beat the very cheap price. The room was so-so in terms of cleanliness--little things like the old coffee not having been cleaned out of the pot. Actually, the entire stay could have been much more pleasant if the hotel would have met even one of our requests--little things, like checking in at 2:30 instead of 3 or meeting our request for 2 beds or a king (we ended up with a queen). We were also immediately next to the bar, which made it quite loud.
The Light House is prime spot to Everything. Walking distance to everything that you need to get to. Would Highly recommend, Good Fun People all around!!! That I had to leave.
It hadbeverything and more u needed to stay Loved it all
Everything was right there Parking
The location is great, very convenient for restaurants, bars, gift stores and the beach (or bay). Our room was clean, and the staff was friendly. We ate at the resort a couple of times, and the food was good. The breakfast burrito was excellent, and I appreciate how the chef/cook presented it. If it would have been served with fresh pico and guacamole instead of store bought salsa, I'd have been comfortable paying $2+ more for it (and it would have been a better overall experience). The room was very small, which should be noted, but that was completely fine with us. If you plan to hang out in your room, you may see if they have a bigger space available, as the only seating is the bed and two rather uncomfortable bar stools. The grounds are absolutely stunning, with more plant-life than you can even take in. We kept getting turned around/lost in the resort, because it was so densely landscaped and beautiful. When we pulled up the woman working the counter was smoking on the front step and hanging out with her family. It was Father's day, so I get it, but it's still not professional (she was very nice and attentive when we walked up). The Tiki Bar is a cool concept, and we've actually been going there for years. It feels a bit run-down and dirty. There are WAY too many TV's in it, which detract from what a Tiki Bar is IMO. The TV's also had little dirty signs on them that said "NFL Game"....it was June. These signs looked like they were supposed to be changed daily/hourly depending on what was actually on said TV, but they had obviously not been changed in some time. I'm assuming they have gone after the sports bar angle to attract more business during football season, but it sure takes away from the tropical feel.
Tiki bar and swimming pools We had a two bedroom suite that was facing the tiki bar. Unfortunately for us, they stay open until 2 AM which made sleep difficult and there was a rowdy crowd nearby that was very noisy outside our room. I would not recommend this place unless you're looking to party all night. Perhaps if we had been in a different area things would have better.
Close to everything Mattresses infested with bugs. Was told they were termites and no other rooms were available. After sleeping 2 nights in that room we have bites all over us. Manager gave us a $25 gift card for my children and I to use at the tiki bar. Finally moved to an upgraded room and only comped for one night. The upgraded room had roaches. This is also not a very family oriented hotel. The locals like to hang out at this tiki bar. Very loud all day and all night. Hotel staff also leaves every night at 11pm.
We like the location and the price. The Lani Kai doesn't allow any coolers on their beach so you have to go to the neighboring establishments if you are wanting to bring a cooler. This is a MAJOR disappointment being that we are guests and not wanting to pay $5+ for a drink.
Clean. Friendly staff. Perfect location. Close to pier and restaurants. Right on the beach! Nothing!
Waterfront, All Rooms have beach view. Great location. Walking distance from the peer and all restaurants. No room service for food. Although the chairs and umbrellas on the beach are rented by another company different that the hotel I think the hotel should encourage the rental company to update the wooden chairs that they have to offer. They are really old and very small.
My family and I loved everything about this hotel. Great location, clean, yummy continental breakfast, and you can't beat the ocean views from every room. We DEFINITELY plan on returning. Our only disappointment was leaving.
nothing was good every thing was a mes
The location must be one of the best in the area, right on the beach. There was nothing to dislike, providing your expectations were geared to the price payed. All my expectations were exceeded.
The location. In priciple on the beach and close to restaturants and shops. The carpet should really be replaced. It smelled mold...
Location was great. The room was like the size of my bathroom and it smelled like mold, wet & muggy. Also they show u pics of the rooms facing the beach but our room was facing a back ally with literally the dumpster next to us..... not a nice view at all.
Location was great I found it odd that there was a family of seven in the double bed room next door who brought their friends to visit, those visitors left cigarette butts everywhere on the terrace. They weren't cleaned up during the duration of the stay. Ashtrays placed around the property would be beneficial. There were also very strange characters that showed up drunk on the terrace making drug references and taking belongings left out there to dry.
Right on the beach, near a lot of restaurants and bars. Nice pool! Staff was friendly. It's brightly colored and cute. The price was right. Room was small. I could hear my neighboring room. The lights were dim. There is a bar next door with live music, which didn't bother me, but it might bother others. There is construction near the hotel on the beach right now.
The hotel was located on beachfront location Cable and internet was not working so there was absolutely no tv. there were no lounge chairs for the deck facing the beach or on the beach. had to rent chairs
It was great being right on te ocean The virtual tour was not the room we got.
Location to the ocean and the wide variety of vegetation - beautiful grounds! It was great- just wished we had selected a room closer to the ocean- not their fault, ours.
This is a great place to stay. We stayed in unit #312. These are individually owned. Stay on the beach side. We ate our breakfast at Sanibel Moorings, ran around all day, came back early afternoon for time at the beach and pool, and then cooked our suppers on the grills. The beach is wonderful here. You can walk out a really long distance on the sand bar and still only be in water waste deep. We stayed in July which was off-season, so very relaxing. Also took a Kayak trip at Tarpon Bay, toured Ding Darling, and went to the shell museum. A fun trip
Good location and beach very close. A bit noisy
The manager was super friendly and accommodating. Love the fact that they have chairs, coolers, sand toys if you aren't able to bring them. Pool area is big with great chairs and lounges. The room is huge & has a great kitchen. Easy access to the beach. All in all I would stay there again. The only problem with the room was that the beds seemed old and sunk in the middle.
We were located on the 11th floor with a Gulf view. We were able to sight dolphin, manatee, heron, egret. The bonus was that there were at least 4 pairs of osprey nesting nearby who often put on a flying display for us. No - despite the fact that 2 of the beach tiki umbrellas were burnt down by vandals on consecutive nights.
The room was dated and not what was advertised on the website. The majority of the the room detail and the picture on the website were of the hotel next door!
decent location no mattress cover, dust ruffle, or beadspread. Just a thin sheet, with bottom mattress and top mattress exposed and a thin blanket. Very cheap pillows. a dirty old worn out futon, that was told to us would be a queen sleeper sofa. staff very rude!
View was outstanding of the Gulf & Lovers Key State Park acros the road. Area was very secure, pool area was clean & private. Daily change of bath towels & trash removal a plus. Full kitchen well stocked for cooking. Plenty of wild life to view. Room was smaller than wished for, but sufficient. No room safe, no clock in bedroom, no cork screw in kitchen for wine bottles. Couldn't pack bulky beach towels & none available for use at the pool or beach area.
The shuffle board game because we had never played it before. The ants on the sink and table. Tiny shower that made me feel like I was back k at my locker room in high school.
We stay at the Anchor Inn every time we come to Sanibel Island. We absolutely love it there. Friendly staff, pet friendly. I stayed there with my daughter and 2 dachshunds. Good value for your money. They bend over backwards to make sure we are comfortable during our stay. We stayed for a week this time. Discovered the washer and dryer for us to use also! That was a big plus! Nice little area to wash your seashells and a pool also! Horseshoes, bikes are all available too! Great place to stay. Can't wait to go back!
We stayed in one of the A-frame cottages -- LOVED it! Totally cute and roomy. Everyone felt instantly at home, even our dog! With the full kitchen we only went out to eat once, which saved money. The staff was great, very helpful and friendly. The pool was heated to a nice temperature -- even I got in it, and I'm a wuss if it's even a little bit cool. It was actually warm. Beaches are within driving distance of about five minutes. We rented a fishing pole and had a blast. Great family memories and I hope we can make Anchor Inn & Cottages an annual family getaway. Although the cottage was pretty clean and tidy, it could have been a bit more clean. There were what looked to be dead bugs on top of the cabinets, which are clearly visible from the loft bedroom. Also, the ashtray outside on the railing of the loft bedroom's porch was full of cigarette butts.
It was near the Community House where we worked at the shell show 3days. Easy to drive to. Toilet too Low without any grab bars. Not enough shelf space in bathroom. No small packets of shampoo. Having to take care of putting towels in container, then having to get clean ones out for use the next day. We used the coffee pot and coffee was not replaced for the next day. TV control was lousy. No list of channels we could get on TV. Had to ask for a hair dryer. We were not informed that we had to ask. The on and off switches on the lamps. Had trouble reaching down to find the switch that was on the wire. Had to ask for someone to come in to make beds, but they never emptied the trash cans.

I liked that we could rent bikes from the hotel, I didn't know that from other trips. The condo we rented needed some more supplies. The hotel could use more grills and perhaps more umbrella tables or comfortable chairs that can be moved around the grounds.
The condo was decorated gorgeously. Apparently remodeled recently with high end finishes (marble counters, wainscoting, glass shower wall, stylish decor, etc). The place was very clean and about a 100 yard walk to the beach! Very well appointed. No
We had a great time in this hotel, beach was right there, a few steps. Hotel is on a quiet street but just a short drive to nice restaurants and grocery stores. Best of all this hotel had a kitchen which was very convenient for us with 8 teens.
Colony Resort had enough space for my family of 4 (2 adults & 2 kids). It was separated from the living room & kitchen. This is minor. Enough though the space was enough, the layout was a little weird. The front door was connected to the bedroom. They should have switch the living room with the bedroom. Also the swimming pool was a bit small.
Location was good for a non-beachfront motel. The bedroom had a horrible mildew smell and the shower curtain was moldy. The bedspread had blood stain on it and was not as clean as should have been.
Beautiful room(s). Surprised with room 55C. This room was more like a mini condo that colony inn rents out for the actual owners. wished we had booked two nights instead of one. No dislikes for this room.however many other rooms are smaller I heard.
The only thing we did not like was a lack of beach front view. But, it is more than likely our fault and we probably should have read the description more thoroughly when booking.
