Good location for touring the old city. Room was very modern, Ikea-style. Parking was very difficult in the hotel garage and we did not realize we were expected to make a reservation for parking.
Easy walk to old town. Even easier walk to C&A. Expensive.
Breakfast was fairly meager. Rooms are decent but very bland.
Staff very helpful and mindful of client require, ments Noisy students keeping late and rowdy hours in street below_ no sleep for guests!
Nice staff and good location Noise from the street on Saturday night when there are many singing drunks about
Location. Very close to the train station which we needed. Non-smoking rooms still had some left over smoke smell.
Excellent city centre location . Good sized bedrooms and very good room rate with the website.
The hotel staff were all very friendly and made good local restaurant suggestions. The hotel is very nice, not deluxe but certainly a solid choice from my experience there. The hotel is quite central, convenient to everything. For the rate I received from this site, I would definitely recommend it.
The hotel is very conveniently situated for an exploration of Rennes. There is a superb restaurant (Le Corsaire) a few metres from the hotel. It was a little disconcerting at first to walk out of the lift into total darkness until the lights came on, activated by an electronic device.
We liked the hotel very much. Clean big room with small kitchen. Clean big bathroom, comfortable bed. We had a room 109 with windows to the inner yard. Unlike many other hotels the yard is very big and quiet - you can sleep with open window and will not hear others. Parking is perfect - private and just next door from the hotel. The lift leads from the parking to reception directly. Location is very convenient - 3 minutes from everything, but just outside the citicentre, hence the street is very quiet. Breakfast was also very nice. We haven't got the idea of the notice on the kitchen's door: it was said not to leave anything dirty otherwise the penalty would apply. That is very strange - cleaning is the part of hotel service in my understanding. We preferred not to touch anything at all - didn't want to pay 20e for the cup left in the sink... Also if anybody concerned: internet is not wifi - wired access only. And no bar/minibar in the hotel.
Good sized, comfortable room. Hotel was well located.
Well designed room, bathroom. Central location and good parking. Pleasant atmosphere. Some signs about the hotel with English translation would make things a bit easier for most foreign tourists.
Good sized, comfortable room. Hotel was well located The buffet breakfast was a bit hit and miss. No spoons available for the cereal. Croissants had run out.Could have beedn better organised.
Clean room, central location, helpful staff
The rooms were spacious and clean. The location was central and convenient. The rooms all had towels for only two people. All the rooms we booked werer for 3-4 people. The office closed down at 6 pm, and most of us were stuck without adequate linens. There was no number to call at the desk to reach the receptionist or housekeeping. It was a big inconvenience as we had to be somewhere the next morning before the 8 am opening time. Please make sure you have adequate towels in room!
Great location near university area, 30 minute walk to main rail station, helpful staff, clean rooms. Only bad points were the lack of a toaster and jug in the kitchen and an extra pillow would have helped.
clean, comfortable room. within 5 min walk to old historical part of Rennes, very few other hotels offer a room for a family of 4. within an hour drive of St. Malo and Mont St. Michel.
The kitchenette in our studio room was well-equipped and I was able to make myself dinner one night. N/A
The room was comfortable, the parking was convenient. The breakfast was nice. Getting good directions to certain restaurants was difficult. We found the map provided was either to small or inaccurate to follow on two occasions.
the hotel is at the city center, close to everything free access to the web
Great location and really comfortable rooms. Free soft drinks and WiFi were a bonus. Plenty of places within walking distance to eat at. Wonderful city to walk around and soak up the atmosphere
Good room, comfortable bed, quiet location, proximity to shops, restaurants, airport, trains and buses. Excellent breakfast and friendly staff. none
city central no elevator in entrance
Excellent Breakfast Situation Noisy heating system throughout the night
Central, but quiet location Bar was closed because of holidays. Our room wasn't cleaned until after 2pm on more than one occassion.
The hotel was idealy located for exploring the centre of Rennes. Underground car park was very convenient. Gardens within the quadrangle provided a pleasant view from the room. Breakfast - restaurant staff were pleasant and helpful. Free wi fi great! The hotel was in reasonable decorative order, but needs refreshed now, to reflect the room cost. Our room had plenty of space, but the bathroom was set up for disabled and less comfortable than normal. Some reception staff were not pleasant or as helpful as you would expect. The car parking charges came as a surprise at check out - this should not be an additional charge. at the very least, they should be made clearer on the website and at the hotel when checking in.
Safe location, close to transport links, restaurants and shops, room is clean and quite big. No complaints
Staff friendly and efficient, good location
We loved the proximity.. Right downtown in the people/plaza square. Parked the car rental, felt secure and walked till all hours. as we were facing the square, the all night noise... would ask for a back room
It was in a great location, very close to all shops, bars and restaurants the lift only fits one person at a time
probably best location in Rennes. very nice staff. TV. the smallest hotel room I've ever been to. And the hotel staff somehow managed to put a babycot in it. It's probably not more than 7-8 sq. m. the floors are very squeaky both in a room and bathroom. Hotel elevator should be in guinness book as the smallest in the world.
The staff were extremely friendly, the bed very comfortable and we thought the hotel was good value. We also liked the decor of the room and the central location of the hotel. The lift was very small so we took the stairs, quite a hike to the 4th floor! Our tap was broken and there was only one sachet of shower gel. the toilet took ages to fill up after you'd flushed it so you had to wait 1hour to use again after one person had used it. It was quite noisy on the Saturday night.
Incredibly noisy with rooms so small it was not possible to have ttwo open suitcases. Cleaning was terrible, stained sheets with hair on the pillows is not nice
Friendly and help receptionist one person lift
The employee at the front desk was very polite, she was sympathetic but with no authority My room was so small that it only fitted 1 bed 1 bedside table a small console and a chair. There was no closet to put my personal belongings (left them in my small bag (the big one had to be stored elsewhere) and was provided with 2 hangers for my clothes in the bathroom
This hotel offers a range of different sized rooms and they all seem to offer comfortable and attractive facilites (I stayed as a wedding guest with lots of friends so we all compared our rooms!). All the reception staff were really helpful and friendly. The lift is very small, not so unusual in a French appartment block but maybe not expected in a hotel. But no a problem unless you hate climbing stairs and have a lift phobia.
Fantastic Hotel - very stylish, lovely staff, great breakfast, really comfy bed. Loved it.
Great central location. Interior decor, bathroom layout with wc seperate, comfortable bed. Bedroom floor very uneven, a trait of old some old French buildings.
Staffs are very kind and very freindly. Facilities are new and clean. Internet access is free. There is no breakfast including plan, I hope including plan. There is no Taxi pool on the hotel, taxi was a little late to come.
The sataff were very helpful and freandly Bar very small not inviting No Resteraunt No buz about the hotel very dead
Staff was very helpful, breakfast was elaborate, and nice rooms. The location is not that ideal, as quite out of the centre.
Lovely clean hotel fab breakfast however we booked with booling.com for double room and when we arrived there was only 2 single beds my husband explained that we where celebrating our wedding anniervsary the hotel upgraded us kindly The hotel is very central yet away from busy city life 2 shopping centres are right next door got great bargins Nothing great room service and friendly staff
Regrettably the service not as good as last year, with the exception of only one lady at the reception. The rooms facing the Colombier Center, extremely noisy all night. Very poor toiletries for such hotel and price. One particular unhelpful lady with glasses at the reception.Poor cleaning of the room the last two days.
It was calm, the staff were helpful and the room facilities and cleanliness were good.
The location is very central It was tooexpensive for what was available. A restaurant would have been good and more English speaking TV channels.
the level of English language knowledge of the receptionist
Central location/easy parking.
Central location. Poor cleaning. Old hair in bathroom. The room smelled like sweat.
The staff were super-helpful and friendly. Convenient location, 5 minutes from the town centre and 10 minutes from the station. The room was basic but comfortable and clean. I had to strongly resist stealing the crazy orange feathery bedside lamp! For this price and category of hotel, no. It's a basic hotel, and so I didn't expect the Ritz...
Free internet connection, the old-style design, and the good location. No
Very good for short stays (we stayed a night). Relative calm area nearby city center (5-7min walk). Fair room sizes. Good french buffet breakfast for good price (6 euros). Agréablement surprise Beware hotel reception in the restaurant - should be indicated on website because we went straight up to the hotel to get back down in the restaurant to get keys.
friendly staff limited shower/toilet facilities
Upon arrival I was helped and immediately made to feel welcome, I was upgraded to a better room for no extra cost and the clerk made my life very easy as I was allowed to leave my key in my room to check out as I had an early train, I only stayed for one night. The rooms were also quiet but other guest could be heard on the corriedor. It was ideal for what I needed which was a stop over, the bathroom was not in the best of conditions and there was alot of mould on the ceiling but for the price the room met and exceeded expectations.
the walls of the rooms are too thin. if someone is playing music at night or talking loudly, it becomes difficult to sleep.
You advertised Wi-fi in all rooms. The sevice did not come up tyo standard it was very poor.
Very friendly staff, clean room, excellent value for money. Next to a noisy/busy street.
I really like the bed, it was very comfortable and the view from my window. The services was good too(reception). I didn`t like the beakfast, it was in the same small room which appeards to be a reception too.
Confirmtable room lift was out of order and forgot to clean the room (or should have asked?)
Great location, adequate room, and very helpful staff. The lift begins one flight up from checkin, so you have to schlep bags up stairs. The center of Rennes can be difficult to navigate, and a GPS does not know about blocked-off streets.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful, whilst the room was clean, comfortable and a good size. If you are carrying a lot of luggage, it can be a problem that you have to take the stairs to the first floor to catch the lift.
Good location, clean with good facilities.
great location friendly helpful staff giving excellent advice
We stayed in 2 rooms. The first, room 315 was very poor and stank of cigarettes. The next, 530 was better, but Hotel de Lices cannot compare to the other hotel we stayed in (because of the disappointment of room 315) Hotel Nemours, which was far superior as far as comfort and style went and cheaper too. Unfortunately they did not have a room available on our last night though. The decor in both rooms we stayed in was poor, though the bathroom was fine and the shower good and the sound proofing was excellent externally. Internally the sound proofing was very poor.
Great location with a very good and helpful staff. In the midst of a very vibrant neighborhood that has plenty of food, drink, and shopping. I would stay here again as it was a great value. The location could be a bit better described. Expected to be able to drive up to the hotel, but the public garage is located a short distance away. Following the NAV, we ended up driving in circles until we called the desk and they helped us.
Excellent location, nice rooms with balcony, nice staff The cleaning could be improved
Freindly and helpful staff
The location of the hotel was great. It was old fashioned but good
We were in Rennes for the Saturday market which is just outside the door of the hotel, so the location was great.
I enjoyed its location in a great city When I arrived the booking thro 'hotel booking.com' was not registered, but fortunately they had a spare room. What went wrong?
The room was a reasonable size and the staff were pleasant. The decoration was attractive. Nice simple bathroom. It was very close to the TGV station and to other attractions in the city. I requested breakfast at 7am in my room and for this to be my wake up call. This did not happen and I woke later and was therefore rushed to get my train. The airconditioning which was installed was not working-essential in summer. There were some works being carried on in the afternoon on the floor my room was based and this was noisy. Guests should have been advised of this.
Great location for those travelling by train. Close to the station (3 min. walk) but quiet. Great starting point for walks to the old center of Rennes. Close to the underground station. Nice restaurants and bars around. Nice clean room.
the hotel is near the train station expensive
Good sized rooms. Quiet, despite being on a main road and near station. Better value than some of the hotels directly nearby to this one that I've also stayed in.
The bathroom. The bed was very uncomfortable. Neither me nor my partner slept well that night, which led to a very tired next day. The pillows were worn out: you could feel the cotton clitting together into balls and it was very bad for my neck and back to sleep at the hotel.
Excellent location, very close to train station. Very cozy, familylike hotel. The staff is very friendly and considerate. Room is clean and comfortable. The bathing/shampoo is special and smells good. Good value for money
Exelent for the mony. Non
very central position. Nice comfortable room
What a nice surprise to find such a clean, nicely decorated, comfortable hotel for such a reasonable price near the station. The staff were very courteous and helpful.
Convenience of location and comfort
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful The carpet in the stairs looked old and the wardrobe in the bedroom was damaged.
Location Cold, no heating
Central location to sites and restaurants. Nothing to mention.
Staff was excellent. Great location. Very reasonable parking rate. When our electric converter would not work we were loaned a hair dryer. One day we might have one large and one small towell and the next day two of each. Usually only one drinking glass.
Well postioned for the city centre, comfortable, helpful staff, parking facilities, allowed our dog to stay in the room. The manager was particularly helpful when we were worried about my father (Mr Ross) being ill. The shower head was broken, and the toilet flush was faulty (flushed continuously). The breakfast was a bit expensive for those of us who want simply a cup of coffee and a couple of slices of bread.
Convenience for our purposes which included only one night in Rennes. Close to train station in an interesting part of town. The continental breakfast was substandard compared to other hotels (nine in total) used during our three-week trip to Eastern Europe and Normandy. The room was tiny, but not a problem for one-night. However, we were provided only a single hand towel and a single bath towel for two people. We asked for at least a second bath towel and were told none were available. To add to this, the shower stall door did not close properly and we had to use the single bath towel and floor mat to dry the floor. Finally, all towel hooks in the bath were loose and came out of the wall when attempting to use them. Also, the night-stand affixed to the wall along side of the bed pulled loose when the light was turned on. It was evident that the anchors had been pulled loose previously and the fixture was not properly re-installed. The hotel and the room had charm, but it needs basic maintenance.
Only the location Small cramped and very noisy room, a tv no larger than a postage stamp, only one English channel, bbc World, no parking and no help in trying to park in the area.
I liked the location of the hotel. The staff were very friendly. The room was basic but clean. The parking area was quite tight.
Convenience of location. Helpful staff. The carpets on landings need a good clean! The breakfast was expensive for what was available.
central location secure parking for our motorbikes friendly helpful staff
Its location. We were lucky as we had a twin room and therefore had a large room. Seeing the other rooms I would not like to stay there as they appeared far too small and cramped.
The price for breakfast
the service at the friont desk was very good Room size is on the low side
Great central location with parking. The bar area was quite small, but there was a great bar/restaurant right next door.
Location of the hotel, nice staff, nice building. The internet is very very expensive, about 15 euros for 24 hours.
Very kind hotel staffs when I had a car trouble. Close to city centre.
The staff were very helpful across all times & days especially as I could not speak any French.
position room was smaller than I anticipated
Well positioned Hotel for viewing and visting local attractions, new Hotel with modern feel and good facilities. Car parking charged.
Friendy staff. good central position, etcc
The shower was good. The room was the same size of a double bed. I think is a 2 star hotel, like Ibis or Fórmula 1. Rennes is not like Paris, it should have a big room.
The staff were freindly and the breakfasts were good value None
location, just opposite to the train station. Very good suggestion on restaurant we liked it very much. not that i can think of
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We felt really welcomed. Breakfast was very good for French standard! The hotel is well located next to the train station and quiet. The smell of smoke in my room. I asked for a non-smoker room, but had bad luck...
Comfortable for the one night.
Location and staff
Just across the street from the train station. Wifi. All was satisfactory for the price.
English speaking staff who were very helpful, comfortable room, very convenient location for railway station, good value None
Good location breakfast very poor - not worth to pay 7.5 E for something like that
Proximity to city center, ample and comfortable room, in front of train station no parking, rooms a bit noisy
room large, basically quiet, close to the train station
Breakfast, staff, free wireless, location The reception is closed at lunch (14h/15h) and all night (past 23h00).
great location paper cups therefore difficult to make drinks
Friendly staff, excellent location in the centre of Rennes.
Clean room, big room, nice staff, right in the centre of the city: everything is close (trainstation, shops, historical centre)
Absolutely central location with perfect transport connections. Very helpful and friendly staff. Bathroom is beautiful and newly renovated. While the bathroom is perfect, the room itself shows considerable wear and probably needs more care (replacing lightbulbs burned out, refilling empty soap dispenser, etc.) The room is plain, there is paractically no place to pack. There is a huge difference between frontside and backside rooms (not really detailed on booking.com) a backside room offers a view to a depressive small yard where an industrial size 4-fan air conditioner of the nearby fast food restaurant is installed giving permanent noise night and day. Frontside rooms offer a beautiful panorama view.
