CLOSE TO WHARF AND BOARDWALK. BATHROOM DRAINS WERE PLUGGED. THE ROOM IS OUT DATED FOR THE PRICE. MOLD IN THE BATHROOM AND THE WALLS LOOK DIRTY. THEY CHARGED A PARKING FEE OF $10. DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY A PARKING FEE WHEN YOUR A PAYING GUEST OF THE HOTEL.
I like to location from the beach and the hotel sersvice was great. I would stay at the hotel again and tell my friends about the hotel too.
Fine basic hotel. We had a room overlooking small pool (no hot tub). Continental breakfast was basic but nice. Free parking a plus, but not a great great part of town. A little on the "seamy" side, it felt like, but that's the budget category, I guess.
Great location, easy to walk everywhere in Santa Cruz: the boardwalk, beach, cliff drive, downtown. The rest of the crowd staying there was a bit rowdy (it was Halloween weekend). At least we had a very quiet room tucked away in the back.
Location--close to beach Room needs renovating. There are two big holes in the tile around the lavatory.
Clean rooms with a flat screen T.V. HBO and WIFI. The walls were paper thin
TV and internet didn't work.
Great location near the beach, quiet, nice pool and garden area, comfortable and clean.
Very good location nothing in special
Internet access, location, parking Price could have been a bit lower
Somewhat friendly , we went to a concert at the catalyst and it was perfect in walking distance and to the boardwalk. Perfect if you staying for a night. The floors were filthy, my socks were black. The parking fees and other fees added on at time of check-in that weren't mentioned at the time of booking, I was not pleased about.
I loved the closeness to the beach boardwalk and the down town area is so close Seemed like it was a more of a permanent residence for some guests we had to switch rooms because they were being really loud and obnoxious and there was supposed to be no smoking and they all were smoking outside our room. Seemed to be in more of a "upcoming" neighborhood. There was someone with a yappy dog that wouldn't shut up all night. You had to pay for parking per night and then there was never any parking when you got there! And best of yet the owners didn't seem to even care! i would have paid more for something better not a good deal at all.
beachfront room. that's it. $300 and didn't even get a bottle of water in the room. they told me they "don't do that anymore" poor condition of bathroom overall run down feeling
Excellent staff, great view, sound of waves, comfortable room, and good wireless. NA
Loved the location. The rooms were small but nice and clean. The restaurant is really nice with great views. The pools and hot-tub are filthy and 90% kids under 5. The hotel carpets common bathrooms and stuff are just Dirty. Staff RARELY pick up the phone when you need something. They automatically charge you a $25/night Parking fee whether you park there or not.
What beautiful views from our balcony and from the restaurant! We loved our stay and will be back for another little get away just over the hill.
You can't beat the location, but the price is steep. Lots of families and kids around the pool. I was staying with a friend and we could hear a lot of noise from the rooms on either side of us, which was difficult to sleep through. It wasn't late night noise. It was early morning families rising before 6am on Sunday morning.
We have not been to Santa Cruz in years, and have never stayed at The Dream Inn. We will definitely be back. What a beautiful venue and location. Our room was lovely, and the front desk service polite, service oriented and professional.
Great hotel for the entire family! Walking distance to the wharf and boardwalk. The views of the ocean from each hotel room are fantastic. We will do it again!
great view, awesome pool and restaurant, perfect location
Over looked the beach and ocean. On our Room Service to the pool. The food was cold. That's the only thing I didn't like.
All rooms oceanfront with balconies. Clean, vibrant and great location. Nice restaurant on property, Aquarius. Fire pits, pool, spa. Rooms do not black out No bell hop
I like the location and the service. This hotel at $600/night is wildly overpriced. It should be $250-300 at most. I didn't even get free parking (had to pay $25/day) even though I was completely ripped off. Unfortunately I had no other viable options.
Only several minutes walk to the beach! The location is convenient and close to everything. We booked the king room with jetted tub. The room was very clean, I thought the layout was a bit odd but we managed and it actually worked out great! The bed was super comfortable! I'm sad we couldn't stay longer because the rain started to come in and we wanted to make it back home before the storm came. The pool area from where I could see on the third floor looked decent. Each floor had ice and vending machines which was awesome! I wasn't hungry so we didn't look at the breakfast options and I'm bummed I didn't. The staff were pleasant. Overall, we'd definitely come back! Well worth the money! The jetted tub were a little outdated but it was huge!
The location is fantastic, close to the beach and downtown. Love that they have bicycle rentals now. The staff is great, very friendly and professional. The pool is nice and clean. We stayed here 2 years ago and it seems to have gone downhill since then. The furniture was beat up, the linens soiled. It was a busy weekend in Santa Cruz and the rates were very high as well.
The beds were very clean and comfortable. The vending machines were broken.. The parking lot was full on a Monday night and the spaces are so small every car was double parked ( very frustrating). I especially didn't like how the hotel sat on a busy street corner. The pool area also closed very early, 9pm which seemed strange for a vacation town..
Convenience to the shore/boardwalk and wharf at Santa Cruz. Quiet, neat room with a comfy bed! Breakfast looked pretty bad with various machines for warming up packaged muffins, bad coffee or packaged waffles.
Close to the beach. Two wall plus didn't work. Strong smell of cleaning products. We had to air out the room. Asked for a quiet room but room was facing pool. Maid came in without us having a chance to respond to her one knock.
The room was spacious for one or two adults, furniture & deco were pleading & not garish. The bed was comfortable - no soreness & refreshed in the morning. The bathroom's great - double shower & a separate vanity station so 2 can easily share & get ready simultaneously. The office & housekeeping staff were very nice, informative & accomodating. My son is ending is undergrad time at UCSC & I'm sure that I'll be staying here again this summer as we transition him to his next academic pursuit. Parking spaces are too small - some are just silly access-wise. Also, access to the hotel is right on a roundabout. This is a pain in the ass & will confuse your GPS app :( More of a city problem (everybody hates the roundabouts) than a hotel problem but be aware.
Staff was excellent; very nice and helpful. Location was convenient. Room was clean. There was a $20 charge for the rollaway bed, and $25 charge for a late checkout (12 - 3PM). Bed was a little uncomfortable.
I had a great time in my visit to ocean pacific lodge the room was great the location is excellent the breakfast was filling and delicious No smoking rooms or designated smoking areas.
Great location - quick walk to the water. Staff was great - friendly at check-in, brought us a crib for the little one. Pool and breakfast included. Obviously not a 5-star resort, but I would definitely go back for a nice, convenient place to stay in Santa Cruz
Our accommodations were excellent. Since we were staying 6 nights I thought we should have received a cheaper rate for Saturday night.
I liked how close it was to the wharf and the cliff There was no beach view.
Staff was very friendly. Room had a comfy bed with 4 pillows, small but very clean bathroom, nice TV and a fridge and microwave. The room was very clean and smelled great. There were a few stains on the chair and bed skirt. Location was a bit farther from the boardwalk than I though but that was my lack of knowledge about Santa Cruz. Still definitely in walking distance just up a hill and around a corner a bit.
Quick walk to pier and boardwalk! Quiet hotel, super friendly front desk. We would stay again.
the location and parking a little overpriced for what you received...however, it was the July 4th weekend
The location is great! Just one block from the wharf and the beach. Parking available at the hotel so no need to pay for parking at the beach. The parking lot of the hotel is on a steep hill. The hotel was older, but the bathrooms had newer tile.
It is barely a hop, skip, and jump from the wharf and beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. Next to an awesome pizza place. Clean, affordable and furniture was modern and new. Saved money by using the in room mini fridge and microwave for food. Fancy new door locks made the rooms feel very safe. The water color art in the room was terrible, so not my style No hairdryer in the room, though I am sure I could have gotten one if I had asked. But I brought my own. No in-room coffee, so I could only get my java fix at the continental breakfast.
The staff were pleasant and welcoming, which I find most critical to feeling comfortable. The bathroom felt very much enclosed with no window or mirror, which detracted from the room somewhat.
Location location location!! The pillows were flat and uncomfy.
It is hard to park your car. But better than no place to park.
The location was great! Just a short walk to the beach and the wharf.
Location, parking and price. Love it all !!!!!
I like my bed to be firm and the one I had perfect. The location is the winner especially if you have children and you want to be close to the beach Boardwalk! The room was just basic and a little small but did the job. I would stay again just for the location alone. Breakfast was minimal, room was a little to bright at night, noise from streets,
Basic amenities. Good price. Great location. Internet was terrible.
Across from the beach. Continental breakfast. The Inn was dirty and not kept up. The pillows where misshapen from age, I slep with a shirt over it so my face was not on it. It was across from the beach. I feel the cost of the Inn I paid for parking.Because that was all that was worth talking about. I will not stay there again.Lucky we did not stay long.
Great Location. Nice staff. Clean rooms. Bed was a bit worn
I loved that there was a breakfast bar. And the beach is right out the door. The bed was comfy, but the pillows were not . And the rooms could be a bit more modern. But overall I would definitely stay there again. The staff was super nice, and always helpful with us. The pictures in the rooms were of flowers, they should be ocean pics. The pillows in our room in were lumpy.
This place was very close to the boardwalk and liked that it was so easy to find. Very clean and bill at the front desk was very friendly the breakfast was ok. This place was affordable considering we stayed during a week day I would definitely stay again. Limited parking in the garage but it was free parking.
This hotel is close to the beach and good dining locations. The bed was not the most comfortable but the room was clean.
Close to beach and board walk great room for the price staff very friendly nice place
The front desk receptionist Antoinette was helpful & friendly. The hours of breakfast...perhaps could extend for late risers. The price was a bit high for what you get. Other lower budget hotels in general vacinity were similar as far as rooms & decor.
It was so nice being in walking distance of the beach. It's all about location. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Close to dining locations.
When asking about a government worker discount over the phone a gentleman was very rude and unaccommodating.
The location The hotel employee who checked me in could hardly speak English properly and had a hard time processing my reservation. He also started shouting at other guests. At least the room was kind of ok, as long as you don't expect much.
Close to the beach.. When I first walked in the room there were peoples things eveywhere. Apparently the people staying there before checked out but left there stuff in the room. Had to wait an hour till the room was cleaned. The room smelled bad. There was no remote for the tv. The carpet was extremely dirty. There was no ac. Which is fine but the windows had no screens on them and someone could just reach in grab something from that window.
The location was excellent and it had a very 50s beach ambience It had no coffee pot or air conditioner in the room. And little breakfast didn't start serving till 830
We were very close to the boardwalk and downtown. I wasnt to fond of the service. The rooms were also very small and not that comfortable for the price. It was over priced for sure.
The location, and the office person was really nice. The cleanliness was poor. The walls were dirty and the carpet was really stained.
The location is excellent--right by coconut grove. Check in was a breeze, the staff was cordial. Smell of the room. Other guests were very noisy, drug paraphernalia found outside of the room in am as we were leaving for breakfast.
I loved the location!! Pretty much a block away from the beach. I loved that I could hear waves at night while I slept with window open. Awesome price. Room was clean. Kind of smelled of cigarettes :d but got used to it quick. Nothing some Febreeze can't fix. Check-in/check-out was fast and easy. Free parking/wi-fi available. The only thing that had caught me off guard was a fee for having extra people stay in the room. Even though the room was meant to sleep at least 4. I had a reservation for 2 ppl/2 queen size beds. There wasn't any warning about the fee on the website. So, I arrived with three friends and the clerk told me there was a $15 charge per extra person. Bummer.
Fridge and telephone did not work.
The location was very close to the beach Service was poor checking in took ages, I hed to go back to the checkin desk on three different occasions to get my room card to work
Walking distance to Boardwalk, downtown and Pier Bathroom small and the recent remodel had over spray everywhere making it look "not" clean.
Comfortable bed. Bathroom, parking, it just felt dirty. No breakfast
The room was small and dirty. Was angry how much I paid to stay in such a dump. Not worth spending that kind of money for this place.
Loved the location, charm, updates and view. Our room resembled a studio apartment with a refrigerator, stove & kitchen area. We will definitely come back for longer stays with the kids and save money by having the kitchenette. The hardwood floor appeared clean but did leave our socks dirty. I expect this in ever hotel though. Even in $300/nt carpeted rooms. That's why we always wear socks. Everything looked and smelled clean otherwise.
Location, location, location and comfort. People next door extremely loud at 5am and no bedside lamp.
Location The room had old outdated furnishings. The walls were dirty and the room was dusty. Would not recommend.
I booked a night for the memorial day weekend for my young family to stay. For close to 400 dollar, and all the positive review, I expect a decent place to stay next to the beach, until it turn into a nightmare. When I show up around 5pm on Sunday, they seem to be surprised. The gentalman was polite, he checked me in and told me they have a very nice unit at street level. When I was down there, at this so-called "6A" unit, it was basically the worse you could get, much worse than any motel you can find. Here's why: it's a very small 1 bedroom unit with small living room and a kitchen, right next to the pedestrian traffic with a very old and dirty front door. Walking into the unit it smell funny, and there are spots on the bedsheet, the floor is sticky. I was wondering why wife would book such a motel, so I walk back to the parking lot to bring her and our baby down, and my wife was all mad and told me how much we are paying for this "very nice" unit. I went back to the front desk and ask for a different room (twice) and they eventually told me the truth: they are over booked and the only alternative is that I have to go to a different hotel own by the same company a few blocks away (but obviously there's no more beach view, though there isn't one for this street level unit in the first place). I went to the Bay Front Motel as told and was offered 2 room to choose from, which aren't a lot better. WIthout much choice, I pick one room and pay more than I could have than when booking Kayak (though they told me they have offered a great discount due to the inconvenient they have brought). When I was able to finally settle down, it was after 8pm, so there is no more sunset viewing on the beach. For anyone who have stayed at this hotel, and wondering what "6A" is like, you can go down to the street, and there is one (yes, only one) unit in between a bunch of garage doors. Would you pay close to 400 a night for something like that? In case if you book through Kayak and was offer this street unit, my advice is you can same your time and ask for a refund right away.
Great location, nice terrace but needs updated furniture. Staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. Older resort need of facelift. No screens on windows or window locks. Tile was broken in bathroom and shower stall very small. The vent above the toilet was open and not screwed in.
great location terrible service tried rooms and hotel tried to get me to cancel kayak booking and re-book directly with them, presumably to save the booking fee unhelpful staff if you have to stay there make sure you get a room with a sea view
The location of this low budget motel was nice! We stayed in the presidential suite. The room was very dirty cobwebs everywhere and stains on the carpet the bathroom was awful the rooms needs a complete make over.
I surprised my husband with a quick getaway to Santa Cruz and booked a room at the Casablanca. I was shocked to find out how close to the water it was! With the warf on your right and the Boardwalk on your left, our stay was complete with the Casablanca on the Beach! We could walk right down to the water or any shops or restaurants. Our room was a family room with a cute living area we could see the water from and a private room in the back. The decor was vintage yet updated and it was fairly quiet. They even had a great little continental breakfast- not the typical stale bagels and coffee! We will definitely be coming back :)
The hotel was in an ideal situation and provided first class facilities for a small bed and breakfast type hotel
The Inn was beautiful and the staff made sure to make you feel very comfortable.
This is a beautiful renovated house very close to the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf and the beach. Everything is so nicely decorated, the furniture is beautiful, the bathroom is all marble. Breakfast is very good and for free. It was an excellent stay and we would have definitely stayed longer if we hadn't already planned our trip.
Beautiful building, superb location, great staff, excellent breakfast, the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in
Nice hotel $25 extra a day for a child, when you are already paying $200+ a day is not nice
atmosphere and comfort at the inn - nice decor scrummy cookies breakfast could be improved
Great location, super clean and friendly View was a little less than expected from our room
room excellent the breakfast was mediocre to say the least
We were upgraded to a nicer room; the bathroom was very luxurious and the restaurant recommendation was spot-on.
I like the place because it it not crowded knowing it has only limited rooms. The staff leaves at 8pm making the stay more private. The place was fabulous for the price. Greatly renovated. the room was a little small but it was very clean and have used more expensive items rather that cheap beadding in other hotals. Bathroom was with jetted tub which is another plus and room is very clean. So far, everything is perfect including the hearty breakfast. Only problem is room is a little cramped but it did not affect me anyway because it was still overall very good.
Rooms were just remodeled and are very modern now.
Loved the hotel!! Great customer service and the room was very clean! Would definitely stay there again!
The rooms were modern and fun looking. Staff was very nice. Very close to the beach! We had to switch rooms after we unpacked due to the electricity not working. It was kind of a pain. I wish there was more of a breakfast, muffins and fruit was not enough for the kids.
Everything was amazing definitely going back
Really close to beach. 2 min. Walk We have a 19month old son so we wanted a place to stay that was close enough to walk back to the Hotel if needed Kinda loud at night time with other kids and family's coming back from the beach. It's totally understandable. Kids are jacked up from a great time on the boardwalk! Didn't bother me a bit.
Great location if you are visiting the Boardwalk. Room was clean, bright and comfortable. Organic soaps & shampoos. Wood floors, not questionable carpet. Decent continental breakfast. We will return! We didn't mind, but noise carries. You can hear the boardwalk rides while they are operating and probably due to the non-carpeted floors you can hear more sounds outside the room than usual.
Location. Although there was a steep upgrade to the hotel from the beach, it was do able. Yes!! It was NOT a king size bed as described!!! Very disappointed.
Clean room. Prime location. Expensive. Housekeeping doesn't want to clean your room. Continental breakfast is terrible. Room is small.
The hotel is really charming. It's in a great location. I like that it's not a chain hotel.
Very clean and they really payed attention to detail. The view was so pleasant. Loved the court yards just steps from the room. Beds were comfortable. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Accommodated parking after check in so could run to the wharf before leaving. Cookies were very yummy. If you are a super healthy eater-breakfast would fit right in with your lifestyle. Found out they had cottages on the property and would consider for our next vacation. Room was right by traffic area and iron gate that you heard slam shut every time someone goes in/out-had early wake up time due to people leaving early and using gate-combine that with someone had very late check in time above us and you could hear their suitcase rollers and every step they took-didn't get to sleep as we had hoped. Would not stay in the room again-would pass on and try for another room location at their site.. Even after arriving early check in and waited for room requested not to be in this type of room-still was given high tragic area-we were told only 2 rooms to choose from-since the room we were at was the closet to the area-no other room could be closer. Would have like to have the other room away from the gate as requested.
The people working in the office were supper friendly To many stairs to the beach, maybe not the best location for seniors or disabled.
The rooms were adorable. Location ideal. POOL FREEZING. The staff assured me and showed me the boiler room where it said the pool was heated to 80 degrees. However the pool was COLD. The 5 year old who will swim for hours only lasted 20 minutes and then took a 20 minute shower to warm up. She has never done this before. The adults did not want to swim. We stayed at the pool side because the pool is a huge deal to us.
Right across the street from the beach? Boardwalk and peir. Super small rooms. Might be fine for 2 people but beyond 2 there is not enough room to mive around or even sit down. I usually stay at the dream inn which has much larger rooms. They cost more too though. To me its worth the added cost.
They didn't have a queen when i made my reservation that's what i booked so they upgraded us to a king at no charge and offered to give us better rates when staying with us again. The fan in the bathroom was super loud. Ran out of toilet paper in the room halfway through the night.
The reviews weren't kidding when they said it was across the street from the boardwalk! less than five minute walk. Beautiful sunny day made the motel's ocean mural so pretty. I was only there for a day and it was a 15 minute walk to the Pacific Ave where there were stores, restaurants and Catalyst (where we saw my boyfriends favorite band D.R.I). overall great experience. If you're not picky and just want a place to crash, this is for you! nothing really
Honestly not much of anything. It was a rip off. Upon check in we were told they were in the process of renovating. Which is much needed!
It was right in front of the beach. Not at all what I expected, walls were very thin and we did not get a good night sleep, we could hear people on both sides of our room and on top of our room.
Location The neighbors were partying all night and we tried to call the front desk but our phone did not work. We then called the front desk from cell phones and no one was available. Incredibly restless night. We spoke with them and they quieted down but certainly no staff available and functionality in room limited.
The location to the boardwalk Dirty, and they are remodleing during early AM and into late PM. the bathroom sink was stinky
