comfortable rooms, good choise of food at reasonable prices in the resturrant and good internet access.
good standard of room for the price, attentve friendly helpful staff, surprisingly good menu. A great stay at a good price
I liked that the hotel was just outside the city, this made it easy to locate as we were driving. Staff were all very helpful
Friendly helpful staff, nice room, English Channel on TV, good menu choice, enjoyed the breakfast even if it is a bit overpriced.
Good value, friendly staff, clean rooms, easy parking near room This is not a complaint - it was not that easy to find. But, given the fact that it was pouring with rain and I was driving alone, maybe that was part of the problem.
Very clean, ood sized bed, easy to find off the motorway, restaurant on site, we wanted it for a stop-over whilst drivin from Spain to the UK with small children and we found it perfectly adequate for our needs. Would have liked a larger room as we booked 2 adults, 1 child and a baby into the room.
always hot in the room; AC did not work well
The staff were very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay. The meal in the restaurant was excellent. It was more difficult to find than we expected.
Ease of finding the hotel and transferring to the airport Nothing
Easy access from the autoroute.Friendly welcome in convenient location. Usual standard you expect from Campanile
Great all around hotel
The bathroom was wonderful and the shower was very relaxing. This hotel was much better than we thought it would be. would certainly stay here again
Very good location
The welcoming atmosphere and helpful staff, the large room and terrace overlooking the main square. The bathroom and toilet are in need of modernisation and better lighting
spaceous well appointed room and freindly reception and catering service highly recomended.Baggage cart available Very diificult to find the location as approaching the location by the square the road is shown as a closed end this should be pointed out to motoring guests
The staff were very helpful. A young girl with dark hair on reception Friday evening was great, she suggested a restaurant and it was fab. La vache I think
location bathroom smelt and is in urgent need of redecorating
This hotel surprised us. It was excellent from start to finish. The room overlooking the square was terrific. The breakfast was the best I've had in a hotel for a long time. The staff, fantastic with good English skills. I recommend this hotel.
position central to the city of Limoges
Hotel as advertised, nothing spectacular but good honest accommodation. Location central to most activities.
The friendliness of staff, we were there much longer than anticipated due to an air traffic control issue, the staff did their utmost on every occassion to help us. The rooms were a better spec than a 3 star I would rate this as more of a 4 star The only criticism is that the outside of the building and balconies are looking tired but once in they are without doubt above standard.
The location was excellent...across the street from a large public parking lot (that was free!)But the best part was the very helpful gentleman running the hotel. He wanted to make sure our experience was perfect and recommended a wonderful restaurant.
Both ourselves and the hotel felt well looked after Poor breakfast. Would be better to offer one really nice croissant than a large selection of poor quality breads.
Very nice hotel, well situated (walking distance from train station), friendly staff. Room was small for two but sharming, giving on the square. Only negative was for the bathroom. 1- for 2 people, we should have 2 bath towels. 2- shelf above sink was broken, stuff kept on falling down the sink.
Location to the train station. Friendly, attentive, helpful owner. Didn't bother us but there are lots of stairs to the upper floors.
Its carpark and breakfast The lack of adequate directions to find it.
Staff were very helpful and pleasant Quiet hotel with very helpful staff
Could have been better for the many I pay
It was a perfectly adequate place to stay, nothing more, nothing less.
Very noisy outside
Late check in, friendly personel, good & plenty (value for money) breakfast, got free update to a bigger room for the 2 of us
Near to town We thought it was over-priced - expected it to be more up-market
Wi-fi connectivity, Friendly and helpful staff
Friendly staff secure parking
Very helpful staff. Excellent location for exploring the town.
Very close to the city centre. Also, have a secured parking space, although the number of spaces is limited. Toilet space was extremely limited.
Accomodationg staff and location.
Close to restaurants, clean and well presented. Overall enjoyable stay Lack of air conditioning
very friendly personnel, very good coffee at breakfast One little issue: our non-smoking room had definitely been smoked in. But that can of course have been caused by abuse by a former guest, or maybe it was older smell, dating from before smoking was stopped in this room.
very friendly, helpful staff. Rooms exceptionally clean and new looking
Friendly staff, very clean rooms, good location. Ideal hotel for short stay in Limoges. Room looked as though it had recently been refurbished and felt new although the hotel itself was an older building. The room had very good bathroom/shower facilities. No airconditioning in the room.
lovely room and very reasonably priced-very close to the train station.
Excellent buffet breakfast, clean fresh rooms, very friendly service, good lounge if needed
Peaceful, quiet location. No traffic noise. Helpful staff despite not speaking English. Bathrooms need updating.
the setting is superb but the restauirant is closed sundays and there are no facilities in the room or at reception on a sunday Very low level of room quality plus we were locked in a wing of the hotel as the reception is closed at night and we had an emergency exit onto the parking for our entrance They even turned off the wifi when the recption was emptied Bit like being in prison
Patio door onto ground floor grass area for dog. manager very nice and provided a map for a lovely walk along the river before dinner No tea or coffee facilities in the room Hotel hard to find as sat nav did not recognize knew roads in the area
Location was easy to find and pleasant. Slow staff response, not awful, just not good.
The rooms were very accessible, all being on the ground floor and the setting for the restaurant was very nice. The staff were not very attentive especially at dinner time.
The hotel room was very basic, but the restaurant was excellent and the staff was great. Also, we appreciated the setting and the quiet for sleeping. We were well located for going into Poitiers for sightseeing without being right downtown. There was free parling for our rental car. It was a money-saving stop for us. The cob web in our room and the only soap provided was in a dispenser on the wall farthest away from the shower. Fortunately we had brought soap from another hotel. Also, there was no hair dryer.
Easy access to major routes and Limoges city centre. Pleasant surroundings overlooking golf course, made a good base for exploring Limousin region. With the exception of one staff member on reception the staff were not very friendly and seemed indifferent to our needs. Rooms could also have been cleaner.
The immediate location is superb and the reception staff remarkably helpful. No.
The outlook while having a drink was lovely and serene. You could hear people in other rooms.
The owner was very helpfull and friendly.
The hotel was clean and tidy in a good location The internet connection was poor and at the time there was no telephone line to the hotels rooms. Not sure if this was just one of those things at the time but it did not help from a business point of view
We returned our hire car and caught the train toParis airport
Very warm and professional welcome; nice decor (wallpaper tasteful, plants effectively used); personal attention to needs of our children (orange juice instead of coffee); information on where to eat and map given with information on location of restaurants. Excellent customer service and attractive lobby. Ensuite to the room was very small; location was poor without secure parking (car was left parked in road still containing most of our luggage not needed for an overnight stay).
We had a recently refurbished room which was excellent, and tastefully decorated. The owner was welcoming and helpful - we got lost and phoned and she directed us well and came out to greet us.
The help that we received from the staff in booking taxis and restaurants No dislikes
Owners were friendly. OK if one spoke French, so OK for us. B/fast a little dear! Happy with initial stay in ywo bedded room. However made booking to return 4 days later for same. However offered one bedded room. had to move elsewhere at additional cost
Family run hotel - owners were delightfully helpful and genuinely interested to assist with maps and points of interest around town. Room was spotlessly clean and generous breakfast served in charming breakfast room. Location was very handy to rail station - easy walk with luggage. We enjoyed everything about our stay.
The staff were really friendly, despite not being able to speak any English. My schoolboy French is disasterously bad, but we persevered, had a laugh and everything went fine. Room was lovely - a nice compact size with a lovely comfortable bed. Shutters blocked out light and ensured a good sleep. The area was very quiet, despite being about 10 mins walk from the centre of town and 4 mins from the railway station. Free WiFi. Breakfast was basic but typically French in nature - croissant, baguette, jam, yoghurt, tea, coffee and chocolate. The lady owner was very keen to ensure that I had had enough when I got up to leave the dining room which was lovely. They looked after my bags for two days - the days before my stay and after.
The manager/owner of this hotel was very helpful, he arranged garage parking for our motorcycles off the city street. The hotel was well located and comfortable.
i liked the fact that the hotel was near the motorway as we were on our way through to calais. restaurant was good.the staff were exceptionally helpful and they helped us book a vets appointment for the UK pets passport scheme the room was pretty poor standard of decoration. the bed was horrible and uncomfortable.
easy access to city and attractions
Breakfast was good and staff were nice. Rooms need seriously refurbishing. Stayed in better tents. This hotel was probably ok in 1970 but needs some major cash injection now to bring it up to date. Not really a three star anymore.
Well laid out and well located for Limoges Central. Comfortable room and excellent staff. Not much to dislike.
Good Hotel Yes,we missed a refrigerator or Mini Bar on our room
The staff were very friendly and efficient. Breakfast was good value at 7euros. Bed was not comfortable. Bathroom needs a shower curtain and shower head holder.
Friendly staff. Good reception upon arrival. Good breakfast. Good location for someone traveling through or require a relatively low-priced accommodation. Quiet area with good restaurant next door. By the way, the service provided at the restaurant was excellent. Very worndown room (stayed in a familyroom with several shortcomings). Desperately needs refurbishment.
we were locked in overnight and not told how to get out in the event of fire or if we returned late how to get in
wonderfull lower rate of breakfast
nice breakfast, clean beds. room was clean but very old fasionate, dark.
Staff were extremely helpful when we had a problem with our hire car, looking up tel. Nos, contacting the company and explaining our problem; even providing a spare pillow to raise the seat level so I could see better! Desk staff were always friendly and seemed to remember our name. One evening there was a pet dog in the dining room. It was very well behaved but we did not feel it should have been allowed in the dining room . It was not an assistance/guide dog.
Very helpful staff 6.5 euro for a beer
Very nice hotel in a beautiful setting. Value for money.
To organise Tour de France teams to stay at the same time as my wife and I was appreciated !! The restuarant breakfast was superb but the evening meal ( mixed grill ) was ordinary for such a high price.
view to the lake. no shuttle airport service. so €60 for taxi (return trip).
Welcoming Staff, and Hotel catering staff very helpful. Excellent stay
Staff were friendly and the rooms were clean and quite comfortable, although fairly basic. We liked the swimming pool. Didn't like paper cups provided for tea and coffee in rooms. For the amount paid we would have expected china cups. We would have liked proper pillows and more of them, too.
Hotel location was convenient to highway. Room was comfortable and clean. A modest hotel at a fair price.
Great location on the way from the south up to Paris. Rooms were updated and decent. Restaurant is lame. Service is pathetic and they served soup in a microwave plastic cup. Although the soup was really good and I wish I could get it at home!
The convenience of the hotel for our visit to Limoges would take us back there as our next visit will probably be by train, plus friendly staff and an excellent restaurant attached. Temperature control in the rooms could be improved because opening the window can be a noisy alternative
It was very close to the train station - we arrived late at night and left early the next morning, so it was a perfect place to stay. It was a bit noisy in the morning - the sound of the sncf jingle from the train station is rather penetrating.
Very pleasant and helpful reception staff The restaurant is a completely separate business to the hotel, it was impossible to charge the merest drink to our room, nor charge our evening meal. I had the embarrassment of having to go back to our room, to get a credit card to pay the restaurant with. Totally unacceptable in that standard of hotel
central and parking facilities First morning , the shower wasn't working. It was repaired. Two mornings at 9.15am there were no croissants
very central, nice staff, big room The address didn't show up on gps and smoking in the lobby
Well laid out family room for 5 people, secure parking, good breakfast, easy walk into Limoges centre
Location, value for money, service re parking. We stayed 2 nights and not 1 as your info below suggests Lack of restaurant staff making it impossible to use despite many empty tables.
The staff were really welcoming when we checked in and very friendly. The room was lovely and spotless and really well furnished. The location was really good and we didn't hear any trains which we thought we would as it is close to a train station. Would stay again in the family room - lots of space. The only thing that spolit it a bit for us was that the resturant menu was all in French and didn't have any English listings so we didn't know the food choice and the staff didn't speak English so that didn't help.
It was easy to park a car in the hotel basement.
Room very clean and had all I needed ... very stylish and tastfully appointed Should have tea/coffee making facilities
nicely decorated room, convenient location, parking buffet breakfast uninspiring with everything in little industrial packets (although you could boil yourself an egg) coffee bitter, breads not very interesting (but croissants ok).
This is typical old-style french hotel perhaps a little faded around the edges but warm and friendly and ideally located in the city centre.
Need to request a back courtyard to avoid train noise when the windows are open
Spotlessly clean, breakfast, super hot water, relaxed, easy attitude of staff. Veary important a lock up private garage in a city centre hotel Because I am rarther tall I prefer a longer bed and a longer bath
Good position at right rate. Staff good, breakfast excellent
Centrally located, ample parking The halls & rooms were too small, the furniture was cheap and the bed was too small. The bathroom was a tiny and poorly lit. There was no room service.
breakfast poor.Tired feel
clean hotel and excellent staff. The railway is so close it sounds like the train is coming out of the bath room & there is a bar next door and people are out on the street until 4.0 am in the morning drinking and talking (loud) it is impossible to sleep, in particular we stayed on a very warm night and had to have the windows open to cool the room slightly.
Brief stop only
good quick overnight stay
I thought the breakfast was a rip off at the price.
Easy to reach/ find Could not enter with pin-code
Receptionist basically had no English language skills.
Friendliness of the staff, its efficiency & the breakfast Not enough clothes hanging space for a stayof longer than 1 or 2 nights
Staff were helpful, hotel was clean
Very basic hotels, rooms need some make over, rooms are very very small, movement are limited, hotel are best for on route stop. Staff are very helpfull and fluent english Very Very Small room, Amex not accepted by the check in auto meachine during our visit.
Fine for an overnight stay. Rooms too small for a long stay
Easy to find, ok for one night stay A little bit tired, reception area not very welcoming
Handy stop over between the channel ports and the south of France. The hotel location is in a commercial complex but quite at night.
Room was comfortable and clean. Very good location, only minutes away from the main railway station. TV had no english language channels (CNN or BBC for example). No air conditioning. Buffet breakfast was overpriced but otherwise OK.
Central location beds nice and firm couldn't reach room with escalator
I liked the helpfulness of the staff and the location of the hotel. The state of the decoration was very poor. It is in serious need of renovation. Once it has been renovated I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.
One very helpful Receptionist - very quick to print internet maps for locations/directions; easy to find; easy access.
Good location, helpful staff, good restaurant, ideal for a short breakthis area has lots to offer One negative - why no proper shower facility. It only need a shower curtain and a hook !!!
Convenience for the station and city
Nothing too special, but fine for the price. I had to find a budget hotel, as an insurance company were picking up the bill (I was picking up a broken down vehicle) so if I were to be choosing to visit Limoges, I would be happier shelling out more money for a more impressive stay. But ultimately, that's my personal choice - rather than any particular criticism of the Lion d'Or. Seemed to be lacking a little in atmosphere - although it may have been that there weren't many guests when I was staying.
the hotel was very old fashioned. the free internet service was a bonus and the central position made it a good base for sight seeing. the toilet and bathroom were very basic.
Good breakfast with friendly service
