We had stayed there previously and returned based on the all-inclusive package, beautiful pools and beach, combined with adjacent scuba facilities. Cozumel has some of most beautiful reefs in the world and it also offers easy access to the mainland to explore Mayan ruins and the local "cenotes". Again, our family had a fantastic vacation. Meals for standard dining buffet style were always good, but not exceeding expectations. It was difficult to schedule dinner reservations at the three special restaurants they offer. In some areas cleanliness of the grounds could be improved. The only other negative aspect, was the bars do not open until 10:00 am - difficult to get a Christmas morning bloody mary.
Friendly staff Disorganized management. The restaurants have a very disorganized way to arrange reservations. The reservations are scheduled to a specific time and customers are guided to their tables 10 to 20 minutes later. The buffet is always full because the staff doesn't know how to manage the sitting of guests. There is always a long line at the host section. In addition, when going to the Italian restaurant we had to wait 40 minutes to get our food served on the table. This is unacceptable.
the grounds are nice very nice, pools clean, beach is clean the rooms are small but they work just fine. the food sucked, the hot food is cold and the cold food is room temp. they seem to be trying with what they have, i would gess the management needs to step it up with the kitchen budget. we did the dive experience, soooo, i thought the rooms were going to be upgraded, no, just a towel bar to hang a few things on. with the UDE you have access to a special room that has food and bev. nice touch. we did dive a few time with Prodive, the staff are really cool.
It is a very nice resort. I loved the all inclusive meals and drinks. It was so nice being able to go out to the pool any time of day or night. It was so relaxing and they had some fun events planned but lots of downtime and quiet too. The room was peaceful, extremely clean and well maintained... and I loved my balcony with the hammock on it. The water slides and swim up bars were fun. Room service all day and all night was nice. On more than one night, the crowded bar had no DJ until after the kids resort next door was done. They had his equipment out on an empty beach playing music to no one while everyone was upstairs ready for fun... but we had to wait for him to finish playing music for the kids. The songs that eventually were played was pretty boring... Macarena, The Wobble, Cupid Shuffle... its like they had a playlist of favorite group dance songs from long ago on remix and no real good music. It was played at every event, each day, multiple locations. We asked for special requests songs a few times and were denied. The food was unlimited... but no one was ever really happy with the taste or portions. It was either really low quality with too much... or really good and only a couple bites.
We really enjoyed Secrets. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was amazing, we loved Bordeaux & Oceana! Our room was very nice as well. We especially enjoyed the the snorkeling at the beach, laying by the pool in the morning and the beach on the afternoon. We stayed in the Preferred area and would do that again, the pool itself is is worth it! If we go back to Cozumel we will definitely stay at Secrets again. When checking in (which is supposed to be at 3:00 p.m.) we were told our room was not ready and had to wait until 4:30 p.m. We also were not given a tour of the hotel, which resulted in us not knowing much about our surroundings until the 2nd or 3rd day. There is a family resort that Secrets is associated with next door (Sunscape Sabor) & some nights there were loud children on the shared beach (not especially romantic for Honeymooners).
Everyone is beyond nice Nothing
-Once you tip the staff, service quality is top notch -If you make friends with any of the servers, they will help you get special meals that aren't on any menus -Alcohol quality was good -If you're into all inclusives, this one is about as good as they come -Any activity you would want to do is riddled with upcharges, it felt a lot like Vegas in that way. -Anything you have to pay for is far more expensive than can be justified. Things like plastic flip-flops made in Mexico are priced in the $500+Mxn range. -You miss out on the authentic Mexican experience staying on the resort, but you waste a disproportionate amount of money by not eating and drinking your fill at the included restaurants.
Our stay at this hotel was wonderful all week long. The staff was friendly, helpful and provided just the right amount of attention- it was there when you wanted it and was never imposing. The beach was clean, snorkeling right there, and the sunshine was spectacular. The spa was magnificent- again with a terrific staff. An added bonus- a wonderful tennis pro to provide a workout on the courts.
This was our 3rd stay at the Presidente and it never disappoints! The hotel staff is always smiling and courteous, the concierge did a great job of recommending restaurants. The grounds are beautifully manicured and the beaches are very clean and very safe for the kids. Our room had a beautiful view of the sea and the new furnishings are very nice! The bed was extremely comfortable and the bath was large. My wife took advantage of the spa and the the staff at Scuba Du was great as always! If you do not see something on the menu the service was quick to accomodate your needs. Looking forward to our next visit!
The staff was fantastic..helpful at every turn!!! The room was wonderful great view of the ocean..my room was upgraded at no extra charge..that was wonderful The resturants were great the food was better than I was expecting and the service was a little slow which was great for us since we like to take our time eating. Check in and out was the wonderful and everything was correct with the bill. The staff was so helpful even the smallest detail wasn`t a problem and if you needed room service it was on time and everything was hot or cold if ordered!!! Can`t wait to go back next year....thanks
We first came here 20 years ago, now we come every year because it is quiet, professions services, wonderful beach, and great food right on the stie. There are 2 restaurants so we can take our pick. The beach and pool offer a great place to relax. It is a little pricey but we recommend this place to all of our friends.
This was our 3rd trip to the Presidente, the first since the major remodel. This remains our favorite hotel on Cozumel. Not the cheapest but certainly one of the best. Our only complaint remains the restaurant selection/variety. The food is expensive, but is very good. For our 12yo son, the choices get kind of limited after a few days. None the less, we will stay here again on future trips to Cozumel.
I love this hotel! The beach (s) are beautiful, the resort never feels busy even though we travel at prime time season over spring break. My only comment is that it is so expensive to eat at this resort! We try to go off site for supper, but even so just breakfast and poolside lunches cost almost as much as our hotel room (for my family of four). The hotel is super clean, our king size bed was the best. The hotel is looking a little tired and is needing a few cosmetic updates in the near future. We love the pro dive shop on site Scuba Du; and thoroughly enjoyed becoming PADI certified with Sandra who is the best.
This was our second stay at the Presidente ! We had a wonderful family vacation with our young adult children and teens . They said it was the best vacation ever ! The staff is friendly and helpful ! The snorkeling in front of the hotel is amazing . Scuba Du dive shop on premises was great also ! All of our chidren did the Discover Dive course with them and loved it ! Their staff is extraordinary as well ! We can't wait to return !!!
It was so wonderful it would be really hard to stay anywhere else.
From the welcome we received when we arrived to the hospitality each day we were impressed! We felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. They even had books by each pool to read. The food was delicious, the view was even better!! We had always stayed at an all-inclusive resort, so this was a change for us. We expected to spend a fortune on food and drinks, but were pleasantly suprised that we got what we paid for. The most relaxing resort we have ever been to,..and we travel a lot. The only thing we missed at this resort was entertainment in the evening, it was DEAD!
Our experience at IP was wonderful. I can't say enough good things about the resort and staff. We were surprised that there weren't very many people there but it was like that everywhere in Cozumel. People don't need to worry about safety there...in Cozumel. It is very safe and friendly. My only complaint would be the cost of the adult beverages at the resort were a bit unreasonable. I'd recommend stopping at the grocery store on your way to the resort.
Intercontinental- Presidente is a nice fading upscale hotel - after check-in we were IMMEDIATELY directed to a desk to sign up for sales pitch to their vacation club in exchange for breakfast and a 24 hour car rental. The ''club'' gives you a room triple the size and double the ammenities (two sinks, bathtub, sofas & chairs) of non-club members who pay triple the price for a VERY average room. We didn't know that the free breakfast included the company of the salesman. The ''club'' category room is very nice, but was not available for us as non-club members even though there were several available. The room we paid quite handsomely for was not adequate for three people. Staff is very friendly, english comprehension is marginal. Food is delicious. Plastic bar glasses observed simply being rinsed off and reused. Beach lovely. My son & husband obtained their scuba certification right on site. Seems to be a fun family place with lots of little children. Older children kept us up several ni...
The hotel was clean and located in San Miguel. It had a pool on the second floor that overlooked the ocean (but the hotel is actually across the street). The view was great. The breakfast was great - buffet with made to order station. No direct access to the ocean.
We've stayed here last year. We had such great experiences that is why we came back this year! We love the staff. Even though they don't speak much English, but they help you in every ways they can. The staff is very determine to deliver great/friendly customer services. I wish, down the line, they have room services. But this is just a minor...minor issue, which does not STOP us to return.
Good breakfast, good room
We have been staying at Casa Mexicana since 2002. Hotel is in a great location, exceptionally clean, great staff and Breakfast is wonderful. Has a family atmosphere and staff recognize you by name. Pool is great especially for kids. We would not think of staying anywhere else.
Staff were very courteous and accommodating. I was scuba diving the morning of check out and they let me store my luggage for the afternoon.
Convenient to town, a good value for the money. Very friendly and clean. None
Proximity to central area - quick walk to square. Be nice if they could offer snacks at happy hour time for a charge.
Location Breakfast Staff super friendly In-room wifi internet had issues all week
Great employees, best breakfast buffet, great rooms and great location for an excellent price. This will be preferred hotel to stay at cozumel. They have helpful staff that go out their way to make your stay outstanding. Hotel is perfect placed on the island for people who want to do everything on the island or main island. Steps away from the ferry, steps away from gift shops, walking distance to Mega(Walmart), walking distance to dozens of restaurants and perfect for those who are doing Ironman Cozumel. The beach view is ruined by the cruise ship parked to left of the hotel. But can be tolerable.
Free breakfast. No shuttle for transportation.
Good location, steps from the ferry dock and close to shopping, restaurants etc. I felt very safe. Room was very sparse in terms of decor, and smelt a little mouldy. This was a partner for the GFNY bike race, so provided a free breakfast to the riders staying there. The breakfast was awful! Minimal selection, no "hot" items, and the coffee carafe seemed to be perpetually empty. I realize they had a lot of mouths to feed, but as this acted as the main fuel source for most riders, the lack of protein options was discouraging.
Clean, good food.... No
Everything was great
Entertainment programming was amazing and the staff is so attentive. They make sure you're always enjoying yourself. A struggle to reserve a beach chair- people wake up really early to mark chairs with belongings and there are not enough chairs for everyone.
Everything was very nice! We couldn't open safe in our room, but when we check out we needed to pay $2 per day foe use this safe ))(((
Our time at Park Royal Cozumel was very enjoyable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. It was easy to find the activities that we wanted to participate in. We enjoyed the food on the buffet for all of our meals. A very relaxing and comfortable place to stay.
Very pleasant experience overall. The food is excellent!
Large, Nice, Clear and good room, Very noisy loud music everywhere. Noise from pool and theater into the room day and evening. Personnel at front desk no interest by client satisfaction.
Hotel and Facilities are very nice. Food Variety and Quality very good. All inclusive package also very good. Beach is very small and swimming very difficult because you have to pass first the coral reefs before swimming is possible. During night time it was quite noisy within the corridors. Next time I would also make sure that I have no room infront the ice vendor machine. This is awful noisy during the whole night. Otherwise everything else was very satisfying.
Staff were very polite and kind. Food was same every meal. not much choice. I got sick of it and I had to go out to eat in downtown. They charge for room safety box every day.
Wonderful, attentive staff, beautiful landscape with 3 great pools, all with swim up bars. Casual to dress up dining, their own shopping center and on site shows. Wonderful experience. Will defiantly be back!
We LOVE the Park Royal! We have been there at least 12 times and every time we try somewhere else, we always wish we were at the Park Royal. Great snorkeling right off the beach, good drinks, good food options, great, friendly staff and good entertainment options. Feels like home.
Beach Age and check in staff
This was out 3rd stay in 11 months. For us it just keeps getting better and better. You can walk for an hour to the north on the beach. A two minute walk to the south will take you to some really good shore snorkeling. $7.00 cab ride to town. I really think the food has come along way since June. One night at the buffet I had a filet that was on par with any I've ever had. Night life isn't all that, rooms a little dated but we like enough that we'll be back in February.
This was our third trip to Cozumel and the second time we stayed at Melia. We are definitely coming back. Great value for your money! Downfalls of this trip: It was their off-season so one of the restuarants was closed for renovations and the others ones kept closing early with no notification, which was really annoying especially when you've been out all day and come back starving. Also, they no longer have room service. It's the only hotel on the island that doesn't have crystal clear water due to seaweed (for lack of a better term# and it's the last resort northbound. The water was usually clearer in the morning to afternoon. That really makes no difference to us though because we travel the island and visit plenty of other beautiful beaches. Pros: They gave us a free upgrade on our room since they weren't busy. We stayed in the M experience, which included a mini frig stocked with free drinks #Spirit, Coke, Beer & Water#. They put on a different show every night. All bars are well ...
Mattress seemed 20 years-old, no support, rock hard. Had to line up 3pillows on the bed to make it a little more comfy. Average food for lunch and dinner, no flavor, Breakfast was OK. Authentic food was good. Beach was nice, water gets murky when there are waves. The beach at the next door hotel was nice, a lot a fish, nice place to snorkle. No organized kids activities. You get what you pay for.
I had all inclusive with golf. Everyone in our group which totaled around 21 had to fight with the front desk for the golf. If we didn't have a copy of it we probably wouldn't have gotten it. It was even on there own web site for the rest of December but they still tried to bock on it. The buffet was OK but very little selection. Hard to get top shelf liquor unless you complained and tipped the bartender enough. Beach was great but the water had some debris which made it hard for snokeling, although just west was great snorkeling behind a break wall. Also they apparently took out the bar TVs so we counldn't watch any football games. The music played was also not very good.
Overall the Melia was okay to average... we realized that traveling with a group of people we would have to comprimise certain amenities, but this was WAY below my expectation levels. Upon check in our room was not ready - we had to wait almost 2 hours for our room - regular check in is 3pm & we still had to wait until 4pm to get into our room. The front desk staff left much to be desired for with their efficiency, ability to answer questions, sense of urgency & basic friendliness. The room was decent & clean. Only 2 'English channels' on TV & one of them was often staticy & signal would go in/out. No refrigerators in room, but were indicated in trip contract. No clocks in room. Phone was not working for half a day. One day we had no water for several hours. The next day there was no hot water for several hours. Did not have a 'do not disturb sign.' The bed was extremely firm & I did not sleep well all week. Cleaning staff did the basics, but you could tell they did not thoroughly cl...
My girlfriend and I stayed here because my son was getting married and had already made plans based on the ceremony being staged at the beach of this place. I was a little concerned after reading a few middle-of-the-road reviews, but we wanted to be able to have meals with the bride and groom so decided we could live with it, especially as we would only be here two nights. I was pleasantly surprised as this place has nothing to be ashamed of. The desk staff were very pleasant and helpful, speaking very good English. The hotel is painted in bright colors common in Mexico. Our room was on the ocean side and was quite nice and roomy. Bed was firm, which was fine with us. The maids did a good job cleaning up and left us extra bottles of water when we asked. Being all-inclusive, the food and drinks were part of the package, which allowed us to not have to keep paying each time we wanted a drink or meal. The bartenders made some potent margaritas (on the rocks) and upgraded the brand of alco...
We enjoyed everything such as the food, the shows, the beach, the piano bar (excellent)... I can't wait to come back next summer.
Nice resort, however, being the divers that we are, I think we will stay at a dive resort where we can do shore diving. We stayed here because our friends usually stay for the golf and we thought we would give it a shot. i love the adult only pool and the beach is nice. Beach water wasn't the gorgeous blue that you envision...it was a dark muddy water and the blue was just beyond that. Food was as expected for an all-inclusive. Staff was super nice!
We love the island of Cozumel and have made many trips over the years. The past three times that we've went, we stayed at the Melia. The hotel sits right on the beach. No road between the resort and the ocean, unlike some of the other resorts. The food quality has improved over the years, we were extremely satisfied with the food. The staff is top notch. Everyone was so kind and willing to please. We have a 5 year old that travels with us and we feel safe with him here. The room is clean, and the shower was great, but the beds could use a new mattress. Overall I have a feeling that the next time we look to visiting cozumel, this will be at the top of our list.
WE STAYED AT THE MELIA 11-9-12 TO 11-12-12 .THE MELIA IS THE PERFECT PLACE TO GO IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO RELAX AND UNWIND . THE RESORT WAS VERY CLEAN AND WELL MAINTAINED. ALL THE STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. WE UPGRADED TO A JR SUITE AND IT WAS A WONDERFUL ROOM WITH A GREAT VIEW .BY GOING TO A JUNIOR SUITE WE HAD Y- FI IN OUR ROOM AND A MINI FRIDGE.WE ENJOYED THE ADULTS POOL AND POOL BAR –BEACH BAR IT WAS CONVIENENTLY LOCATED NEAR THE JR SUITES .THE BEACH HAD SOME SEAWEED ON IT THAT WAS RAKED INTO PILES DAILY AND HAULED AWAY EVERY OTHER DAY. THE BEACH WAS A GREAT PLACE TO RELAX WITH WHITE SAND, PALM TREES AND THATCHED UMBRELLAS FOR SHADE IF YOU NEEDED IT. THE BEACH BAR IS ONLY A SHORT WALK AWAY WHEN WE BOOKED THIS TRIP WE READ ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ABOUT THE FOOD AND WERE CONCERNED . THE FOOD WAS VERY GOOD. WE ATE AT THE BUFFET FOR BREAKFAST, IT HAD ALL THE NORMAL AMERICAN FOOD INCLUDING A GREAT OMOLET BAR AND A MIX OF MEXICAN FOOD.WE ATE LUNCH AT THE BUFFET AND THE IGU...
Terrible food. Beach was beautiful, great location. Resort was very nice however food variety, quality and overall experience was very disapoointing. I would guess over 50% of the quest were sick the week we were there. Add says each room has wifi this is not true the lobby is the only area that has it and oh course its very poor.
This was not my first time at the Melia. I keep coming back. I like the layout, the location, the people working there, even the people that are guests. It's close enough to town to be a quick cheap cab ride, but far enough to be peaceful. It's all inclusive. The drinks flow freely, the food is average. I could always find plenty to eat but it ain't cruise ship food.
The free snorkeling equipment was great. The Italian restaurant was amazing--the lobster was the best I have ever had. The beach-front room was the most beautiful view on the island. It was confusing when we arrived. On the Website it shows several restaurant and we were only allowed to eat at one nice restaurant along with the buffet.
The beach was awesome. Very rocky but awesome. The drinks were good. Rooms needs update. The air conditioner was loud. Wifi in the lobby is slow. Food was ok.
Of course, the weather was nice and there was one restaurant that was decent. Other than that, it's hard to find much more that was good. Cleanliness was a HUGE issue. A friend of ours had multiple blood stains on their sheets. When they demanded a new room and showed the front desk pictures, they laughed and said there wasn't one available for a day. They ended up sleeping on beach towels that night. Food was pretty terrible. How do you mess up french fries? All 6 of us ended up having bad stomachs from the food here. Everything was watered down - including the KETCHUP! I expected the drinks to be watered down...but the ketchup??? Overall, after 3 nights, we were ready to go home. Everything was subpar. Oh, and the beach was rocky. Sand was obviously shipped in...not great. A definite SKIP. I won't be returning.
Friendly staff Food was not great for lunch and dinner but buffet breakfast was awesome.
This is a perfect location for some phenomenal dives the boats come directly to the resort to pick you up from the dive doc There are three dive shops they compete for your business . I was a solo traveler on this trip mostly families and couples however I still had a great time met a lot of fun people The food was plain Jane nothing that incredible I rate the food on a scale of 10 I give it a solid 5 1/2 I was strictly there for the diving so I didn't mind having plain Jane food however. The staff seems to move extra slow however it is the Caribbean and I'm used to a faster pace of life so not a big deal . I do feel that the Internet could've been much faster and they shouldn't charge for Internet in your room in this day and age
Do not recommend , is pretty far from everything , food is bad, alcohol is bad , rooms are outdated , old
Beautiful property with fantastic amenities. Staff is friendly. Food at the restaurants was pretty good. We used Resort Credits to have a romantic private dinner on the and the chef's dinner, both were excellent. The dive op located on site was pretty good as well. Service in the rooms was inconsistent. We paid more for Concierge level. It was supposed to come with nightly petit fours, but we only received them on a few of the nights. The coffee maker in the room wasn't working the first morning. We managed to fix it, but then they didn't consistently restock the coffee everyday. So I ended up dressing and walking down to the lobby every morning to get coffee. I didn't like that children were allowed at the swim-up bar. Bars should really be adult-only. Also, we used Resort Credits for diving. They tell you to check in and then go to the desk about using your credits, but if you don't book the diving ahead of time, it gets all booked up
The staff was friendly and very attentive. The food was not as good as I had hoped for.
The water and the ability to snorkel off the beach. Good breakfast. Felt like for the elite all inclusive the food could have been better. Filets were not really filets.
snorkeling area taxi availability poor wireless connection no a/c in lobby, restaurant, elevators no trashcan in bedroom very warm a/c vent directly on bed food not good
Helpful staff, great views of cruiseship terminal, on ironman bike course and next to great dive shop Na
Staff was attentive, courteous The construction in the nearby rooms did not stop at 5 PM as promised
The remodeled rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. The food is mostly excellent, a cut above for an all-inclusive at this price. Our focus was on diving (easy boat pickup from the pier), so we weren't to concerned about the distance from town or the limited range of other activities. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. There was a little confusion about meal times - we were told breakfast started at 6 AM but it was actually 7 AM. Likewise lunch started an hour later than expected, at 1 PM. The only exception to the wonderful food was our meal in the Italian themed restaurant - main courses were very average and the service was rushed despite many open tables. We found the overeager young time-share salesman a bit annoying but he left us alone after we expressed our disinterest...
Perfect location for divers, like me (not so good for bathing on the beach). Rooms are not expensive, clean and nice, but all restaurants outsides are 3 times cheaper.
Recently remodeled, rooms were very nice, new TV, rain showers, AC. Nice lobby patio area with pool, some evenings had music and dancing some were more laid back. 3 very nice restaurants,we could walk in anytime, but were were just offseason. Smaller resort so very easy to get around and very quiet. Beach and chairs/sunbeds nice area to snorkel and swim. Somewhat remote, cannot walk to town but several places to eat and Chankanaab Park within easy walking. Staff and service were truly amazing, never wanted for anything, and did not get solicited for timeshare. No hot tub in the pool area but there are hot tubs in the suites.
Hotel is small, everything is close by. Didn't like the lack of food choices. Only one place for breakfast and not a large variety. Only 3 restaurants for dinner with no option of buffet. Lack of description of special events. No information clearly defining where and when special events were happening
Newly renovated and reopened 9/1/2014. Very contemporary/modern. Customer service was great. Dinner food was exceptional and buffet was good. Biking, snorkeling right off the vicinity, water volleyball, Mexican Bingo, Karaoke. Gym was sufficient. Drinks were plenty. Free laundry room. Overall great experience! Had to pull teeth to get bottled water, we drink a lot of water to stay hydrated from drinking alcohol but they held the water back along with towel service. The bath shower flooded out of the glass door since the ledge was high enough to keep the water in. The glass door kept hitting the ceiling shower head and was afraid to crack. Wished they had more activities that were included but it makes sense to make money around the island. The bartender seemed to cater to the Mexican locals compared to the foreigners.
i liked it all,and very good scuba diing also, great staff, good hotel, food in hotel a little pricey. make food a lil cheaper, especially breakfast.
Sometimes a little loud at pool area; request room that does not overlook pool
Scuba dive shop is top notch. The dive shop is a top notch operation that have been in business a long time. Had not dove with them for over ten years but outstanding continued service. Food was not very good in the restaurants. The buffet down by the beach was good however. Enough choices to satisfy most.
The Staff were ALL so lovely and attentive...the tour coordinator accommodated us last minute with a scooter which was so fun for my daughter. The beverage offerings were top notch, the rooms were REALLY comfortable~and included room service. The food was good too. The beachfront was cool, with beds to lie on with the sound of surf washing up against the rock/coral edge underneath them...once they finish it off with sand it will be really nice. (it had just re-opened in September after a year of complete renovations) I took part in a meeting to consider a time share purchase where they promised it would not go over 1.5 hours, (Tim was very nice) but it was more like 2+ once his Manager stepped in to close the sale...we were given a snorkel trip for our time. Since it is a common occurrence, I recommended the Boat captain carry BarfBags for his vomiting patrons instead of letting them upchuck overboard to protect the reef and the snorkelers.
Stayed one night. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean and the location - about two miles from town - was convenient enough. We walked to town for dinner, and felt totally comfortable walking back (there is a sidewalk/bike path the whole way) at 10 pm. Each room appeared to have a balcony. Happy hour was fun - lots of different people around. Staff and visitors all in a good mood. We left with a favorable impression. The Internet access could be better. It's in the common areas - either the lobby or out by the pool. It was a nice night, though, so sitting near the ocean worked out well. The "jungle adventure" room would more appropriately be called the "overlooking the street" room. There are some woods on the other side of the street, but the road is not busy. We didn't use the pool, so can't comment on that...
Always clean, quiet and the staff makes you feel like you are returning home. More adults than children
Quiet location on the island, great landscaping and integration of wildlife into the setting. Staff is great, English only customers will have no problem getting a helpful response to request. Liked our upper floor room overlooking the jungle. Excitement over food and drink wanes over time, selection is okay, you find favorites, but there a pattern that emerges over the days. Be aware that internet access involves an extra charge, and it is high. I paid $4 for a single hour. There were options for daily and weekly with a lower cost per hour, but 24*7 access for a week was well over $100. Did not sit well with me. Have never considered cost of internet when selecting a resort, but will do so in the future.
Staff was the best!
This motel is very small and quiet. This motel is not for people who like to party at night!!! Every one is so nice, the beach is small but nice. The golf course is great, bring lots of balls though!!. This is our second time and we will be going back. Rent a car or jeep though, even if you dont use it all the time its well worth it, we rented a jeep for one day to go on the other side of the island and it cost 100.00 you can rent one for a week for a little more than that, taxi cost 8.00 one way down town.
Playa Azul is a small, friendly hotel right on the beach in Cozumel. It is out of the 'hotel zone' but conveniently located close to the golf course and an easy taxi ride into town. The staff make you feel welcome, remember you by name, and do whatever they can to make your stay enjoyable. I not only recommend Playa Azul to others, but I intend to stay there again on my next trip to Cozumel.

My wife and I spent two wonderful weeks at Playa Azul. The staff was great. Food and service exception. We will definatley come back.
A sanctuary on Cozumel. Low key, relaxing - stay away if you party - we love the solitude. No sewer smell! Watch out for the 'free' golf. The club and cart fees will take you for +$120 each time you play.
Purchase a hotel and air package, not sure what to expect. Turned out to be the best deal and vacation I have ever had. Can't what for next years vacation.
We had hotel (ocean view suite), golf and breakfast
Great place to stay with family, very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast buffet was awesome, the rooms were very clean , staff was friendly. We had the beach and pool to ourselves several times. Food from the snack bar on the beach was very tasty, snorkeling from the hotels beach was great. The wife enjoyed the spa, loved the massages. Hated to leave, can't wait to go back.
The hotel was just as many positive reviews I had read about. We would stay there again.
I purchased the trip for a group of four. The trip was very affordable. The hotel was wonderful, very friendly, they made us feel welcomed.
The pool, hot tub, and activities were great. It's a great place. I'd go back. The ac was really loud in our room. We couldn't sleep well. Also the activities and tour guy that works at hotel hit on me. It was weird and made feel uncomfortable beign around them. The staff should be thought to be friendly but more respectful of guests.
I enjoyed interacting with the staff...found they were bound to strict rules and they tried their best to accommodate. They used cheap alcohol...one of our group members watched a bartender setup his station and saw him water down the bottles. Drinks were bad tasting so I came to learn to enjoy their draught beer. The food was very boring and repetitive. No flair...nothing that stood out. Breakfast seemed like leftovers from dinner. They actually stopped serving food and alcohol after certain times...which is fine, I guess but I know other all inclusives have something open for their guests all day. I bought this night stay for my friend and his family from mexico. ..I was staying for a week with 9 of my family from Canada. I was surprised to see my friend was just as disappointed with this hotel on a one night visit - imagine, the rest of us were here for a week of this. This was a 20 year reunion with my friend lawyer from Mexico and it seemed to be wasted on discussions and arguments about the hotel instead of rejoicing. I give credit to Carlos...the front desk manager, for doing what he does. It's not his rules he has to follow. He didn't just have to hear things from us but also from multiple guests every time new arrivals came in. I cold see dispair in many eyes of the employees. Will I go back?
The staff was extremely attentive and took good care of the guests. They were always polite. My hotel room smelled so bad that I could barely stay in there. I only slept in the room. The moldy sofa and stinky and very hard bed made for tough nights. The furniture needs to be replaced. The quality of the food was poor and the food choices were repetitive. The first two nights I was there, there was little if any variety.
Check-in/check-out was quick and efficient, very clean large room with a nice balcony, good a la carte restaurant for dinner (reservations required), crystal clear water, friendly crowd of guests, only 10 minutes from the airport and town, good selection of included liquor (although the high-end brands [Don Julio tequila, Johnnie Walker black and Crown Royal] were often kept out of sight below the... No pool/beach waiter service, room should be updated - no refrigerator or bathtub, Internet access in the lobby only, draft beer only, included wine was poor quality, wine by the bottle was outrageously priced (US$55 for a bottle of Woodbridge chardonnay!).
Great hotel, friendly staff, good breakfast, good value, very clean.
Good location and nice hotel close to the main square on Cozumel.
Free breakfast was great! Room is clean. Provided shampoo, soap, and towels in room. Location is right in the middle of town only a few blocks from the ferry terminal. The hotel is next to a bar or music venue, so we heard a really loud cover band for a few hours that night.
It was basic but clean and safe.Right in town a block from the square. A great value.Staff was nice and roof top pool a plus.
This was the second time my boyfriend and I stayed here because of its close location to the ferry and our dive shop. However, our toilet base was cracked and it kept moving and as a result the entire bathroom began to smell awful. The cleaning people must have noticed it as well because we were called by the front desk and they told us they would relocate us to another room if we would have liked. We were leaving the next morning (about 6h after the call was made) so we decided against the hassle of moving all of our stuff. So although the toilet caused some inconveniences, the hotel staff was willing to relocate us which I thought was great customer service.
New tv new air conditioning new mattress No English news on tv
Location, price & continental breakfast. Ocean view included a view of the adjoining buildings roofs which weren't very appealing.
We really enjoyed this hotel. It is clean and cheap. The complementary breakfast was great.
The location to the airport, the a/c worked, the breakfast was good, the cable tv had many channels and worked well. The pool was on the small side, no resturant for other meals, not as nice as I thought it would be but clean.
Friendly and helpful. Limited use of internet. Boring breakfasts. Hard beds. Difficult for handicapped people. Yes, the handicap ramp was often blocked by vehicles.
It was well situated within walking distance of the ferry from Playa del Carmen, although the hotel was quite basic, the price reflected this and was not an issue. The breakfast is very Mexican which was not expected but still quite nice. the rooms were well sized and clean and the beds very comfy.
convenience to shopping and restaurants no washcloths in the bathroom
staff was okay, except the girl making breakfast. What a snot. If youget the all inclusive option (I wouldn't, too many better places to eat on the islan) then they charge you for everything. Even had to pay for a cup of coffee before breakfast. its one of the older places on the island. Its also pretty far from the better dive sites. I prefer to be on the south end so the boat ride is shorter. Go south, get a condo.
Nice hotel but not a luxury hotel. Room was clean and well appointed. Hotel is not on the beach although it says private beach. It is mainly a scuba diver hotel. This is also a great place to learn to dive if you're interested. the staff are friendly and helpful. Beautiful huge pool. Not close to town although it is walkable or you can rent a scooter or car at the hotel and plan excursions.
Very diver friendly dive shop on site food was okay room was clean not much tv selection Internet was okay I will stay here again great value for what you pay Could have a little more selection in the included drinks mainly the beer
Same staff as 3 years ago. Very friendly and competent. Food and drinks very good. Comfortable atmosphere. Lots of returning guests. Great when occupancy low. Dive center pricey, makes negotiations painful for package deals. No cash refunds for unused dives. But dive operators are good, and again many of the same providers as last time.
Have stayed many times over a 15 year period. Have always been happy with stay. Great staff and even better location, with downtown and grocery store (we do not do all-inclusive). Compared to past experiences, this year's maid staff left quite a bit to be desired.
Staff very friendly, great location for walking into town, nice dive shop nearby, great breakfast, very clean. Beds a little too basic, could do with more pillows and blankets in the room, but I didn't ask for any.
Hotel Cozumel is great. It is like returning home. We have been there 4 times. Raul the manager, Guadeloupe. & Consuelo at the front desk are great. We love it there & will return.
Good location. Large pool, but closes at 9. Rooms were kept clean, but the floor was ALWAYS wet. The pipes seemed to keep the grout wet and if mopped, the floor would still be wet 8 hrs later. Associated dive shop made daily diving easy - but the groups were large and the dives short (45 mins, then they surface regardless of air or conditions). Lots of facilities that I didn't want - it was all-inclusive and I didn't realize when I booked. Couldn't order food. Since I didn't pay for the all-inclusive, I was told I could just buy individual meals / drinks - I couldn't. They only tried to get me to pay a lot for the buffets I didn't want. I ordered tacos and they were terrible - completely Americanized. I never ate or drank at the hotel after that first order.
Direct access to Dive Paradise via walkway. Hotel staff is truly friendly. It seems important to all staff that You have a great vacation. Rooms promptly serviced each morning. Food was quite good and reasonably varied for all inclusive. Great value for the money. Well located, only $6 cab ride to town center. I intend to stay here again. Nothing stood out as lacking. It is not the "El Presidente" but is priced so much lower.
The Ocean view Great pool Rooms very clean Under staffed (as one of them mentioned) Poor breakfast Reception staff makes mistakes and charges you for more than needed.
The snorkeling was beautiful. It was very easy to get in and out of the water. Breakfast view was a great way to start the day. The tacos were not up to Mexican standards. The hotel B needs a better cook.. We went into town almost every day because of food.
Hotel B has a nice swim and lounge area, seaside backdrop, ocean access, pleasing aesthetic interiors (though cliche and a bit too hip). The restaurant was decent but nothing to write home about. The kitchen and grounds staff were nice. Hotel B has other services (spa, activities area - paddle boarding, scuba and snorkel) but we didn't try them. The customer service was terrible. We were appalled at the attitude and approach taken by the concierge and reservations staff -- a perfect example of how poor management can make or break an experience. From the start, the reception staff were very disorganized, unpolished and rude. Each time we entered the lobby we felt like intruders. We had some issues with our reservation, booked online which would have been no big deal if they had been more professional. However they came across as scattered and had we not been paying attention, we would have been charged twice for a room we had already paid for.
Spectacular ocean front views. Great location, close to down town. Beautiful design. I went in the low season and so the price was great -- $142 a night. Awesome price for this hotel!!! You will be hard pressed to find another hotel with such views at this price. They provide bicycles to ride for free. Great staff. VERY crappy wi-fi signal. No wi-fi signal in the rooms. Very small food portions and limited selection of food. No refrigerator in room.
Great location, 40 minute walk from the town square, oceanfront for a value price, nice balcony, friendly staff. King beds in some of the rooms would be nice, as would a refrigerator.
Everything you need in one spot. Good food, excellent view, good snorkeling,, never too crowded at beach and pool area. Really nice and helpful staff. Really missed the raft they had in the ocean you could swim to. Sorry there is no longer a ladder on the pier to get out of the ocean, makes it more challenging to get in and out. Room rarely cleaned until 4 in the afternoon. Key card stop working after about a day and you have to run back to reception to fix it. But these are minor complaint. I love Hotel B. This is my third year in a row and I will go back.
For a quiet relaxing time, it was perfect for us. It has it's own quaint sandy beach on a rocky shoreline which has an abundance of fish and coral for snorkelling!
Just got back from a week at this hotel. Location was awesome! You can walk to town in 1/2 hour or take a 60 peso taxi. Beautiful setting right on water. Snorkeling right off the property. Staff were very kind and helpful. there were plenty of areas for relaxing. Food was good and reasonably priced.
Great staff - very friendly and helpful. Good breakfast. Nice bar and courtyard. Far enough back from main boulevard at the water to be quiet, but still close to many restaurants, the main square, etc. Good wifi. We stayed for two weeks, and were always treated well. Would stay here again. We agree about Oscar being awesome. Can't really think of anything. Oh, because our room was on the courtyard, there was sometimes some noise from down below at night, but it wasn't really bad.
