We stayed at this Drury Inn on our way home to Nashville from Destin. After driving with 3 little ones (6 and under), we were very thankful not to have to go out for dinner. The kickback reception had very simple, but tasty food, and was extremely convenient. My husband was thrilled to have "ballpark nachoes," and I was able to make salads with pasta or a baked potato for the kids. I also really appreciated the glass of wine! The room smelled very clean upon opening the door. I can't say that about many hotels. Even the pricey beach home we were coming from lacked in cleanliness. But everything was very clean, the bathtub was appreciated as well. Everyone had a decent meal and good tubby before bed. The bed was decent, better than the Hampton Inn in Montgomery that we stayed in on the way down. Breakfast was good as well, and at both "meal times," the manager Christopher was present to schmooze and greet guests, which I found to be very surprising. The way he was conversing with some of the guests made me feel as though several of the people staying were frequent guests. I take that as a very good sign. We will be staying here again. A little far off I-65, but worth it for the extra comforts.
I really enjoyed the 5:30 Kickback and the beds were very comfortable. The bathroom is quite cramped. Staff could have been a bit friendlier upon arrival.
Room was clean and available when we arrived. Due to it's proximity to a major highway, try to get a room on the back side of the hotel. Highway noise from 18 wheelers at 3:00 am seemed to be a normal occurrence. Breakfast was very good, plenty of food and choices.
Very clean...staff are wonderful!! Food and drinks were great!! We will Definitely be returning to the Drury!! We don't have any complaints at all!
Hotel staff is very accommodating and the extra amenities such as the free dinner and breakfast are nice. Not enough handicapped parking spots.
Efficient and Professional Checking and Service. Very courteous Staff. Nothing
The staff was kind and helpful. The location was great. The continental breakfast was very convenient. If the rates remain the same, we will stay here the next time we're in Bimingham.
Dripping faucet, cockroaches, random pounding on door in middle of night
I like the location, price and the fact it was across the road from the BEST BBQ place!! If anyone stays here, I recommend Jim'N Nicks BBQ!! I didn't like the fact only 2 lights worked and the cord on the lamp on my side was cut. We woke up the next morning with bug bites but never seen any bugs in the bed.
I always stay at a Hampton if possible and love the coffee bar that is set up 24/7. The workout room was lacking free weights of any kind. I was so disappointed. I always work out on the road and the only equipment in the room was one treadmill one elliptical and some weighted balls. I would not take much to have one set of free weights. And it looked like kids had been in the room and left wet towels and flip flops which remained in the workout out room all over the floor for the entire two days we were there.
Clean place. Very friendly staff. Absolutely satisfied with our hotel choice. Would definitely come here again. Breakfast was very fresh and had many choices. Everything was better than expected.
The breakfast provided was very nice. It was very noisy during the night. I had to complain. The staff wasn't particularly friendly or helpful.
Right off highway but walking ditance to Mountain Brook, perfect for peace an quiet and super clean and freindly
The location, away from downtown but close enough. Someone opened the gas cap on my new truck and appeared to try and steal gasoline. They need security at night.
The cleanest, and staff was excellent, also a great location No
It was a great place to stay. Convenient to shopping, snd good restaurants. wOUld
The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Our room was comfortable and we had a great view. We had a restful night and a good breakfast. Difficult to find, more signs on the highway would have been helpful.
To go breakfast bag Beds smelled bad. Spreads dirty. Tub did not drain.
This hotel is so big that by the time you make your way around it you won't have any energy left to see Birmingham. The dining options though are very limited and VERY expensive. I had room service once--pasta with meatballs, side salad, diet coke and a piece of cake--and the bill was just over $50!!!! The main restaurant is acceptable, even quite good, but very expensive. The only other option is a sports bar. There is also one small cafe but it is never open. For a hotel that holds about a billion people, these options are far too limited.
Stayed here the staff was very helpful and friendly. Room very clean and comfortable.
The carpet in the room needed to be cleaned. The bed was very comfortable and linens very nice in both bedroom and bathroom. The staff was very accommodating and I would recommend the hotel to others.
Hotel was all good in my eyes, I have grips about it. Maybe they could have had a few more channels to choose from but other than that everything was perfect!
We had a lovely view of the a/c units out the window, and a remote control that no matter what button you pushed would only change the channel down (big inconvenience). You would think for a $*/night hotel, they would have a remote that worked and free parking. Very disappointed and definitely would not stay here again. Stayed in a Comfort Suites on the way for $80/night which was a lot nicer.
Overall, my room was clean and newly renovated. However, I found myself in 'The Twilight Zone' soon after my stay. They agreed to split the charges and place half on my co-workers credit card and the other half on my credit card. We both received receipts upon checkout, which had the correct charges; however, when I received my credit card statement they charged my card twice (on two different dates). I talked back and forth to them and their corporate office but they failed to admit fault or refund my money. They claimed that they only charged me and I would have to get my co-worker who shared the room to contact them to authorize the removal of this amount, so they can place that half on her credit card. HOW CRAZY DOES THAT SOUND?! They pretended not to have her contact information although I stood right there when she gave them all of her information plus her credit card--not to mention she received a receipt from them. I eventually, filed a formal complaint with the Better Bus...
My room was fine, but you might not be so lucky. The hallway in other areas of the floor where I stayed weren't clean and smelled quite bad. Also: my room commanded a view of the atrium, with no exterior views. I didn't know this was a possibility, and certainly wouldn't have chosen it had I known.\n\nThe staff wasn't rude, but they weren't helpful either. I was struggling with more than usual baggage when I checked in, but no one at the door offered to help me. I was given poor directions to my room (don't laugh?it's a very large facility!), told there was no drugstore within walking distance when there was, didn't get more coffee or bottled water in my room after the first night, had to pay for slow internet service in my room...these are not terrible things, but at the price, I think a traveler should expect the niceties to all be in place. And had I been unlucky enough to have a room in the dirty areas...\n\nI can't recommend this hotel to people visiting Birmingham.
I booked this place with an expectation that at close to $* per night that I would get quality on par with the price. In reality this hotel is poorly maintained and dirty. There are groups of people who like to hang out in the atrium until 230 AM and the sound will actually carry all the way up to the 16th floor. The room was at the level that I would expect at Motel 6, which is a disapointment when you consider the costs. The room had furniture that looked as if it had been in the room since the opening of the Hotel over 30 years ago and it was in the expected condition, scuffed and shabby looking. The bathroom floor looked very dirty and nasty, and it was obvious that the hotel has only had minimal updates since it opened decades ago. The reason this place is so disipointing is that you expect far more from a hotel of this chain, and to be blunt, you get far less than cheaper hotels here. For this price, I will either stay at the Marriot or the Galleria next time I am in Birmingham, ...
I stayed at this hotel for two nights this week, i was there on business. Real disappointing for a sheraton. Said my room was non-smoking, but it smelle like smoke. Hotel in the middle of the ghetto.
We arrived at a busy time. Several events were going on, but none of them affected our stay. The room was immaculate, the furnishings were a cut above the expected, and the bed was very comfortable. We were impressed with the food and the service. I especially appreciated the excellent heating/cooling system. It was very quiet and easy to adjust. This was the best hotel we stayed in on a long vacation.
The accommodations in this hotel are very nice. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. This hotel is a short cab ride from the UAB campus. I would stay here again.
We stayed here on our wedding night and we enjoyed it very much. The resturant was open utill 1am.The room was very clean and nice. the person that complained about the luggage tote your own luggage that is lazy GOD gave you two hands use them.we will stay here again.
The entire hotel smelled, I had a flea on me, there was mold on the shower curtain, barely anything for breakfast, the pool was dirty, and for the money I paid I expected a mini fridge or at least a microwave
It was quiet. Breakfast was good. I don't like the high sinks when traveling with a family. Makes brushing teeth for small ones very difficult.
Room was very clean and quiet. Breakfast was above average. No complaints..
The staff was awesome, nice hotel, great surroundings
Staff was very helpful and rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable. Limited access due to constructiom
Every single person we interacted with - from the bellhops to the concierges to the bar and restaurant staff - treated us with truly above and beyond hospitality and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I have traveled extensively and don't think I have ever had such uniformly excellent and personalized service at a hotel. During our stay we requested to change our reservation to a larger room and extended our stay by a few days, and we ordered room service several times (really delicious and pretty reasonably priced) with some modifications for vegan diet and these requests were all accommodated very graciously. Following a most minor, really negligible, issue with a room service order we got a handwritten apology note from the general manager and voucher for complimentary drinks at the hotel bar. (The drinks were very good. The bar has a great cocktail list.) The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and and well appointed, with a nice view of downtown Birmingham. The hotel is right in the heart of downtown, convenient to many bars, restaurants, the art museum, other major buildings etc. There's a parking lot just across the street and easy street parking around, but we didn't even drive so much because there was a lot right within walking distance. I could not recommend the Redmont more highly. Will definitely stay here on any future visit. Literally nothing
Everything but the fridge was very noisy there was no coffee pot but I liked my stay will use them again
Staff was very friendly and helpful! Great location next to the airport. Room was very clean and comfortable. Reataurant staff was extremely slow! Food not bad but they definitely are not in the food service business. We were the only table and it still took us forever to be even recognized.
Breakfast always ready in the morning, staff was informative and extremely helpful. Most comfortable be I have ever slept on in a hotel. They could use a more advance fitness area.
Close to airport free shuttle service Poor windows Breakfast staff is not top motivated
The staff was friendly and accommodating. The hotel is conveniently located near shopping and food. The hotel is old and you can tell. They are remodeling but it still has that "old" smell. The air in my room didn't cool and it was very humid. The humidity made the musty smell of the room more prominate.I could also smell cigarette smoke. I think it was from when it was allowed in the building and the humidity made it seep from the walls. The neighborhood is a little sketchy. There were several people who hung around outside the building. They didn't have a continental breakfast but a buffet that was $9.50. That's a bit ridiculous! I was there for a week on business so no breakfast on site was inconvenient and I wasn't paying that much for the buffett. It wasn't too bad of an experience (i have stayed at worse) but it wasn't the normal Holiday Inn experience that I'm use to.
Location to airport. Location. Next to Freeway and noise all night long. Ate at the restaurant and it was horrible, along with probably the worst waitress I have ever had in my life. The carpet and walls and doors of the hallways was very dirty looking. Really needs updated. The inside of the rooms was surprisingly not bad. I would not recommend this hotel
Although an older building, the rooms look like they've been renovated within the past 5-10 years. They offer extended parking for a week and a shuttle service to the airport. Friendly staff, friendly drivers. Not a bad place to stay for the night and catch a ride to the airport early the next morning. Exterior and hallways / size of doors indicate the overall age of the building. (see pro addressing comment). Area is what you'd expect from a hotel near the airport.
Staff was great. Very friendly. Hotel is just in bad shape. I got the impression that the staff there cleans and prepares rooms the best they can, but ancient carpets and facilities limit what they can do. It's a musty old building in a questionable part of town. Hotel got us by for a night midway through a road trip, but definitely wouldn't book rooms here as a destination. It's a place to sleep behind a locked door.
The entire staff at the front desk were all extremely helpful and very friendly! Especialky the manager and the shuttle driver. They even accommadated us with an early check in after an 18 hour drive from New York! Not the end of world, but we did find previous guests empty beer bottles and food wrappers that seemed to have been pushed under the end of both beds. Over all, room was still very clean. Also, there was a coffee maker but no coffee, filters, or cups.... we like our coffee.
My flight was cancelled and I needed a place to stay in order to catch an early morning flight. I wanted to stay somewher close and this was the place. The location is a little iffy but the staff was great. The room was clean and the food was good. All in all, it was a good place to stay for a night but i would look elsewhere if staying longer.
The staff was wonderful. Everyone here is pleasant and professional. Upon checkin the room appeared clean at first glance. we had to clean every surface fr counters to light switch plates. Very dirty
Everything was perfect, even though the place was small, i still got a parking space for my truck. Can't ask for more. Yeah, I had to leave next day, wish I could have stayed longer.
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
It was neat but could've been cleaner. The housekeeping staff is young and don't seem to take their job serious, the cleaning could be better.
I like the staff who are willing to make sure my stay was pleasurable. Most of the rooms are updated, and I think the hotel merits an additional star. Nothing arose to create an issue
The location is always good. Usually I room at the top floor. This time I was provided a mid-level room. This was my worst experience at this hotel because on the top floor a hyper animal,a dog that I presumed, was running back and forth in the hallway all night. No sleep.
Very convenient, and the staff is pleasant and willing to help. Breakfast options could be increased.
The size and decoration of the room.
The location, price, and privacy are good Twice I have stayed here and plumbing issues were a factor. Once I didn't have hot water to shower on the way out, and this visit led to a flooded toilet without any tissue or bodily waste in it. No plunger and had to deal with this at 3a.m.!
It is a very good hotel for its star rating- exceptional for 1 star With exception given to about 3-4 staff persons the staff needs training in hospitality, especially one lady in particular
Bugs in room
Was horrible, would never recommend this place to anybody.
Very conveniently located south of the city, close to mall area and I-459. If coming from the south, it’s a good place to stay if flying out in the morning (only 20 minutes to the airport). Paper-thin walls meant I got little sleep due to the man in the next room talking loudly all night on his phone. The front desk closes in the evening, so I didn’t feel it warranted calling the emergency line. This is the downside of not having a 24/7 staff.
Night time staff was very polite, helpful, and fast. Room did not have the cookware it was supposed to have, had to go back to lobby and they only had serving dishes. Hairs on couple towels. Room had obviously been cleaned, but still seemed disheveled.
Clean rooms and friendly staff. Beds were comfortable too!
No towels. I don't just mean no towels in the room, none available in the entire hotel. Called the front desk asking for one and they said they were out, none they could give us. A/C in the room was insanely loud. Could not sleep with that thing running. And no in room complimentary internet?
Location was excellent. The staff was very friendly and nice. There was no charge for parking and plenty of spaces. Nine dollars a day for wifi.
Upon check in, we were greeted by two very lovely ladies. They were kind and thorough. They also mentioned we would have a complimentary breakfast the next morning. What a real treat I thought. After breakfast, we received a bill for 30 bucks. Astonished and confused, I spoke with different lady who informed me indeed the breakfast was not complimentary. I told her that's what I was told at which point she informed me the lady who told me that had been here for 25 years so there was just no way she would have said that. Basically, she said sorry for the confusion but there was nothing she could do. When we checked out and left we walked out in an akward silence which cued me to believe somehow i had pissed her off by even raising my concern. It was incredibly unprofessional and rude. Will not return there or any other hilton. I've noticed through my travels hilton has been declining in overall experience anyways. No lose to me. So adios hilton and your rude desk folks.
Great proximity to all of Birmingham and at a great value
The staff was exceptionally nice and accommodating.
Only one elevator works of two and it takes forever to get to you. Was given a handicap room at first, which had very limited counter space. Poor lighting, acutally dingy inside room. On the positive side, very well located. Close to 5 Points, Vulcan, Regions Field and the Summit Mall. Only take 15-20 minutes to get to most tourist sites. So, stay in the Perimeter area, but not necessarily at this Hilton.
The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good . I called room service 3 different times with no answer at all. Also , we were on the top floor and there were signs of roof leakage in our room. And we really couldn't believe for the price that we didn't have a mini-fridge in our room. Also, even though we were on the executive floor we still had to pay a $4 "upcharge" for the regular breakfast.
The desk clerk was very cheerful and helpful when we arrived which set the tone for our stay. The room was very clean, comfortable and spacious.
It was very clean and the staff was friendly! We enjoyed our stay!
Very accommodating staff that assisted with booking and gave great food recommendations.
Friendly, prompt, clean, comfortable, good coffee in lounge. What more do you need?
Good location This place is worn out, needs to be gutted and rebuilt
Fantastic fantastic fantastic location! Right off a major interstate, and not far from intersecting highways. Close to many restaurants and a major mall. Beautiful area if you wanna go for a jog. Felt safe there. Decent breakfast... probably used powdered eggs, but they weren't half bad and there were several baked goods, cereals, fruit and drink options (including my favorite: waffles!). The sausage they served was delicious too, and not your usual complimentary hotel breakfast sausage. Gym was minimal but in great condition and adequate for a quick workout. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and adequately stocked. Quiet at night. Only downside was that the TV was glitchy... great reception, the sound just gives out and comes back every once in a while. Not huge, since we just watched a little something before falling asleep; but was annoying and could be better. Upon checking out, we notified staff and they said that they would address it. Really not bad for our only "con"
I liked the area. Safe feeling in an office park and near a high-end mall. The breakfast was lacking...expecting better options such as fresh fruit. The syrup plate had ants...then after breakfast our key randomly didn't work..very inconvenient to have to go back and have the key re-keyed...though staff was pleasant and fixed the issue.
Clean, friendly staff - evening and morning, 24-hour fitness center with quality equipment, fast no-nonsense service at desk
It was quiet. I think we were the only ones in the building. I booked online. It wasn't nearly as nice in person. It looked new on the pictures, in reality it's an older hotel. I would stay here again if I had to. But it's definitely not in my top 10 hotel choices.
This was a very pleasant stay for six nights in what I would call a one bedroom appartment. It was lovely. I am a single traveller with a hire car, I stayed there with the main purpose of attending the NASCAR race at Talladega. It was a one minute drive from I20 and journey time to track was 35 minutes. Although close to I20, I could not hear the traffic, only the occasional noise of train horns. No untensils in kitchen.
Found large roaches in the room on the second night we stayed. Would recommend this place unless budget is an issue.
The location on the hill was nice and the staff was accommodating and friendly when we discovered that someone had been smoking in the first room we were given. Both rooms we had were badly worn with chips out of walls and furniture, one of the panels missing from a piece of furniture, and stains and marks on the walls. The breakfast was poor at best and most of the carpets had stains on them. The place is due for a renovation, after which I imagine it will be better kept, but for now I would recommend staying elsewhere.
Beds were comfortable breakfast was good Paid for the room online my credit card got lost card wouldn't let me have the room until I came up with somebody with a credit card
Rooms were clean, good breakfast
Rarely was anyone at the front desk.
Stopped here on a road trip. By far the most poorly managed wingate location I've ever visited. The whole building had a smell that can only be described as mildew and must. The room wasn't clean, and there was an overpowering smell coming from somewhere in the room. It wasn't until the morning I discovered the source of the smell to be vomit in the bottom of the trash can UNDER the newly placed liner. The beds were comfortable but that was about the only saving grace. The staff was very well mannered and nice. I will absolutely never stay at this location again. Poor upkeep, smells from a gym locker room, despicable value for the price.
The hotel is great. The employees are professional and friendly. The breakfast is also good Overall a great experience
The stay was great. The location was great. Nothing popped out as bad. I went during Birminghams Spring Break so there was NOBODY there except me and my girlfriend. We stayed because I had an interview the following morning. The people were nice. The pool was green, they did start cleaning it the day I stayed though. The breakfast food was disgusting. Only the waffles tasted okay. Nothing was made with sugar. The apple juice tasted like water. The hotel itself is outdated. There is an old people home next door and it felt like we were staying there because the bed was 4 post, the walls were ugly, the bathroom was green and outdated and the showerhead was supposed to be white but was yellow from old age. It was clean but SO outdated.
Beds and not noisy
Our room was accessible WITHOUT THE KEY! Night clerk changed rooms for us. BOTH rooms had no working heat! We received blankets (thx, she was very helpful). That morning another clerk refused to give my associate any information on the room that HE AND HIS WIFE STAYED IN because his name wasn't on the room. Although he had KEYS TO THE ROOM he was refused any answers. I presented the bill to the room and informed him that my name was on it. He said there was nothing he could do, no recourse for the cold rooms and REFUSED to give me the receipt back saying it wasn't the 'right one.' No other explanation given. I will say that he offered another receipt, but if wanted that one since there was no reason given to change receipts. There was NO customer service extended. We were warned not to room in Birmingham. Now I know why
The location is convenient to so many things, but its a bit hidden and a sign on the road would be a lot more helpful. The room was big and tons of tv channels. The breakfast selection was great. Overall, a good experience. They were having breaker problems the whole weekend we were there - the parking lot lights were not always on. The pool lights cut off while we were swimming after dark and not a single ice machine was working. But the worst thing was the lady who worked the breakfast. I know you want to keep the area clean but wait until no one is at the counter! She went up into people's space to clean things that someone had just touched and her cleaning spray was about getting into food - it made us feel like we were unwanted and unclean. Such a terrible breakfast experience, which is too bad b/c the food was actually good.
Our stay at the Wynfrey was absolutely awesome!! We loved the convenience of being attached to the mall too. 5 stars!!!! My only complaint was the housekeepers were knocking on your door before 8am to clean your rooms! We were on vacation & having loooong nights, so we were still resting at that early hour and didn't want to be disturbed.
Fantastic staff; friendly and efficient. Rooms were spacious and clean. Location offers walkable mall dining options.
