My husband and I booked this hotel as a romantic weekend away, and we were not disappointed. The staff at this hotel were excellent, not one member of staff passed you by without saying hello and asking how you were, including the man transporting luggage and a hotel engineer who shared the lift with us. This hotel was pure luxury, rooms spotless, large bed and very quiet so got a great night sleep. The views from this hotel were also stunning. There are a few bars and different eating places, breakfast was great, huge selection both mornings. However, I was not overly impresses with evening meals, not enough choice and I sent two thing back to the kitchen, this is what let this hotel down, the rest made up for it and I would return. Not enough selection for dinner, what I did order had to be returned to kitchen. (Greasy little crispy things, that claimed to be beefeater fries, and a pasta dish that was completely bland). Staff though were very apologetic and could't do enough to try to rectify it.
Staff very accommodating
rooms a good size equipped with some nice home comforts & breakfast was excellent with a good variety!!i come every year in april on a golf trip and always recommend the hotel like i said i come every year on a golf trip, this time ibrought my partner and thought it ridiculous i paid £179 for the room and to have 2 single mattresses pushed together!!surely for that price u could expect a proper queen size mattress?also i wouldnt expect to pay £9:55 for a lager and long vodka on george street in edinburgh let alone in a hotel on the outskirts of st andrews
The staff throughout hotel and venues we're incredible. Air conditioning was not working.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Felt it was a bit pricey, but you get whatyou pay for.
99% of staff excellent. Ambience and facilities excellent. Limited menu choice in 'Rock and Spindle' and 'Kittocks Den'. Check out member of staff somewhat surly - didn't even ask after 4 nights if we enjoyed our stay!
The bedroom was very well appointed and very comfortable. We had a problem with the heating system which was resolved easily by one phone call. I didn't like the restaurant's position in the atrium. As a result, we didn't consider eating in the hotel and would not do so if we relurn in future.
Upgraded room when staff heard it was our anniversary.....poll/sauna/jacuzzi were excellent.......breakfast very good and great selection
The location, the view, the warm welcome, the setting, the atmosphere, the cleanliness, the breakfast was phenomenal, the treatment, the morning checkin aka 945am!...given our initial introduction to Scotland in Edinburgh, it was the perfect way to turn our 2nd day of our honeymoon around! thank you thank you thank you.. nothing...
Hotel facilities are excellent and staff were very friendly and helpful. A great place to relax !
Lovely views of the North Sea and presumably great golf courses. My suite was quite large and pretty comfortable Mostly disliked the atrium which by its design and its decor made it feel like a second tier convention hotel. Compared to its closest competitor in town, the Old Course, the Fairmont was decidedly lacking in style and distinction. The common rooms (restaurants, bars,...) have no character or luxurious feeling to them.
The valet car parking was excellent with very friendly staff The spa was hugely disappointing for a luxury hotel and the dining room lacks any atmosphere.
Everything was faultless. Couldn't be faulted.
From check in to check out the hotel ticked all the boxes. We look forward to repeating the experience.
The spa, the comfortable beds, huge bath, the spa, dinner, and champage cocktails
Room, view, staff, dinner and spa/treatments were all excellent Room (suite) air con was not working probably resulting in the room being very hot all night!
Great rooms and golf views. Location is perfect. For some reason I had rotting fruit in my room. Big oversight.
Wondered the streets of St andrews, enjoyed the spa, and our lovley room - relaxed
I enjoyed it as it provided an easy going relaxed atmosphere.
The room was lovely and the view was excellent. The staff could not be faulted. Nothing.
Everyone was so friendly and the place was so clean and smart and everyone wanted to help.
Location. Service standards. To charge an additional £20 for use of the hotel pool is petty and left a feeling that someone has got this aspect very wrong. To vaguely blame a "world-wide charging strategy" made this money-grabbing scam even harder to swallow.
Best value for money on our recent trip
Its very central and a lovely location on the quay in Dundee. Hotel is quite modern rooms are clean and well appointed. Bed was a bit soft, bits of the hotel such as corridors are a bit tired round the edges.
The room,Service,The Staff,Luxury,
kindness of personel, view from room (317) and overall look and spirit of the Hotel. Cleanliness of bathroom (black spots in corners of the shower) + state of the painting on the walls and closet doors in the entrance of the room. Rooms could also use a minibar.
Food and atmosphere. Location was good too. Round pin plugs meant I could not charge my phone
staff were very helpful and the hotel was great value and use of leisure facilities was great nothing
The room was immaculate with wonderful views over the city. Staff are exceptionally helpful and pleasant. Excellent meal in restaurant. Spa easy to access and good surroundings.
The bedrooms are spacious
In my type of work, I travel a lot, and have stayed in many different hotel chains. The main thing for us was the very clean and well kept room which was furnished to a high standard, we also had a great view of the Victoria dock. The health spa and gym facilities are excellent. I will certainly recommend this hotel to my friends and if I return to Dundee in the future, I will choose to stay in this hotel.
Lovely hotel, rooms very chic, comfortable and stylish. Excellent Facilities, great view over quay, and nice central location, highly recommend this hotel to everyone.
Next to Old Course
Service at the bar was poor. The meal in the restaurant was excellent but the service was rather slow at times.
Relaxed atmosphere, proximity to town facilities, view of St Andrews Old Course and beach area. Initial double room given was rear of hotel, dark and had a view of walls. Had to change, could only get twin, but view was excellent.
Location, friendly staff, luxury room
The staff and the hotel in general were excellent
Location is fantastic. Lovely Scottish jackets Broken bed! Water board decided to dig up the road outside our room at midnight which wS annoying for 90mins
Superb location and atmosphere within the hotel The officious restuarant greeter
Upgraded to a suite with great views over the golf course. staff very helpful. Breakfast was fair but was a bit cold on the first morning. Heating in our room could be warmer.
location of hotel room extremely hot
Staff attentiveness and willingness to help
Excellent food Noisy lift
Comfortable and welcoming room. Nice toileteries and good to be provided with a bathrobe.Hotel was quiet - no noise could be heard from adjoining rooms or from outside. Clock had not been changed, so we were 1 hour early for dinner!
The view from our room onto the front was beautiful
Hotel is only 100 yards from the first tee of The Old Course, and looks out on St. Andrews Bay.Great Location
Everything was excellent
staff, decor and an excellent breakfast very noisy at night as our room was above bar.
Very friendly staff- heating was excellent in exceptionally cold temperatures.View was excellent overlooking the sea.Room was very pleasant but could do with updating the windows due to a few draughts. We stated in this hotel for two nights but on the second night we were unable to even get close to the cocktail bar due to the huge number of students who seemed to "take over" the hotel plus the bar under neat the hotel.
The view, the size of room, the room facilities, the confort As expected the bar prices were a little high, otherwise no complaints
the location was fantastic as was the staff at the hotel. Very young staff but very customer focussed. Give that St Andrews is by no means modern it was nice to stay in a hotel that was. refreshing the mattresses were uncomfortable and needed changed.
convenient location was important
Studio was very modern and spacious
lovely spacious room nothing
lovely hotel in a great place room next to road, very noisy
The staff were the friendliest staff I have ever encountered in any hotel.
The food was excellent Nothing
Countryside Modern decor in bedrooms
Fantastic new extension. Room with a view, decking and patio doors. Brilliant. Restuarant and bar needs a make over.
Exceptionally clean, functional & friendly & helpful staff. Very good breakfast. Pretty spartan, needs updating & remodelling.
The restaurant was excellent and the breakfast in the morning also. The bed was too soft!
A complete, totally beautiful hotel. Staff was best of best. Gorgeous facility and only 1.5 miles from St Andrews and about 8 from our friends. This IS NOT a criticism, but perhaps a suggestion. IT was warm in Scotland. Rooms were really warm even with fan. As in Europe all over, they just have a comforter. It might be worth having a sheet on each bed so the comforter can be removed.
Friendly staff, quiet and and very clean room. Overall a very nice hotel. The room was a little dark and the furnishings tend to accentuate this. The duvet on the bed was somewhat oversized for summer and it was hard to get the room cool enough. To be fair, I did not ask to have it changed.
Excellent breakfast first day real kippers, second day kippers were of the frozen kind but okay very small en suite shower room
Steps from where the bus dropped us, a block from market st., two blocks from university admissions, the castle and cathedral, the perfect location. The staff ware great.well maintained and clean. Great breakfast - try the haggis. A bit Expensive
I loved the location as it was in the centre of the town and it meant once we were parked up that was it and everything was on our doorstep.
Hotel Staff Hospitality
Friendly relaxed staff Shower pressure could have been a little better
Receptionist very friendly and helpful No place to sit and talk after 11pm, as bar and other rooms were looked up
Cleanliness of the room, excellent choice of breakfast and friendliness of staff. Poor shower
The staff where very helpful and accommodating to all requests. The garden at the back was excellent to relax in, in the evenings
Location - straight across the road from church where the wedding was that I was attending. No car parking. I had to keep circling until a space became available. Room was not very soundproof.
It was close to the university Room was cold when we arrived at around 6pm and no hot water. Pillows were very flat and uncomfortable but the beds were fairly comfy.
All was completely satisfying I have none
location to St Andrews and the staff excellent
It would be nice to extent the breakfast time till 10.00.
Warmth, comfort and cleanliness. An excellent breakfast and friendly breakfast staff. Theee most comfortable bed! No bath in room and window wouldn't shut!! Television sound quite alarming.poor bar area.
the room was very comfortable and and staff very pleasant and helpful. The hotel was also ideally situated for a wedding we were attending on the Saturday
Quiet warm and comfortable. good breakfast parking a problem
Very central location, friendly staff. Excellent reataurant Very cramped room - we were given a free upgrade to a larger room , hard to imagine how small the original one must have been
beautiful surroundings comfortable rooms and very helpful staff ideally situated for Kingsbarns golf course
We loved our 2 bedroom apartment - it was so spacious and historical. The breakfast in the large dining room around the large dining table was wonderful and delicious. It has the most beautiful gardens. The whole package made us feel very special - like royalty.
A real getaway from it all place, and good location for visiting other Fife towns and villages. No dislikes.
The unique experience of living in a 19th century house, surrounded by the familys history. It was lovely being able to wander around the house as it was 120 years ago. It was a very warm, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere to spend our hooneymoon in. Even though it was autumn the gardens were wonderful.
Cambo House is an amazing country home with a great history, location, and grounds. I've put it on my list of favorite places to stay. The descriptions of Cambo House don't do it justice.
Good central hotel, great staff and ample sized portions in the restaurant. We liked this hotel. The only night club in St Andrews is in the basement of this hotel and believe me you will know about it. You'll also know when it closes and the students are leaving!
Very helpful staff and real fire in restaurant The bedroom should have had a desk in it especially as there is room for one - plus a mirror close to a plug making drying one's hair easy!
