Fordeler: Really nice and accommodating staff.
Ulemper: The parking garage they partner with took an inordinate amount of time getting our car when picking up.
Fordeler: Car had low air in tires.
Good car, expensive insurance
Fordeler: We got an automatic Audi in Italy and the car was great. We paid for full insurance because driving in Italy gets pretty crazy. But the cost of the insurance was high and cost more than renting the car. That was the most unfortunate. Staff were polite and kind

Car had an internal GPS system but could only be activated for 11€/day - too expensive so we used a phone instead.
Line to pick up reservation at termini station was long and very unorganized but the enterprise employee was very nice about it.
Locauto Rental Cat at Fuimicino Airport is GREAT!
Fordeler: I accidentally booked a car at an Enterprise in Rome, when I meant to book a car in Fuimicino Airport. The attendant was more than willing to help find my reservation and assign a car to me and my wife for the week. Within 5 minutes, she was off the phone with their Rome location and completed my reservation at the airport. Then, she informed us that we were getting an Audi A1, which to me is much better than the original model I was supposed to get (a Renault Clio or equivalent). We had the car for 6 days, no issues, then returned the car back in its original state. So, overall a great experience!
Ulemper: The only mild complaint I had was that the car had a barely noticeable lingering smell of cigarette smoke.
Ulemper: Waited over 1 hour to get to counter, only one staff member serving. I missed my appt I was renting a car to attend so I left.
Very disappointed.

Fordeler: Got a hybrid Yaris w/out asking, and it was brand new and perfectly clean.
Ulemper: Only had a half tank of gas, so had to fill up shortly after pickup.
Great service and great vehicle made travel in Ita
Fordeler: Got an Audi A4 for the price of a Volkswagen Golf. Easy pick up and drop off.

Excellent service & nice car
Fordeler: We got a Renault Clio equipped with GPS. Nice little Diesel car, good fuel economy, spotless interior and exterior. Good service, convenient downtown location around corner from Westin Excelsior hotel. Inexpensive-had to make this reservation at the last minutes because of a change of plan, got better price than original booking!
Ulemper: Had to fight Rome traffic to return on time - allow yourself plenty of time for the return trip.
Not getting Enterprise but a shady local provider
Ulemper: Conveniently for them but not the customer, this location closes early around the time you would want to drop off a car, I think 8PM.. DO NOT trust their after hours drop off. We performed a complete check of the car, took pictures and expected an honest walk thru the next morning by Locauto. Instead, 6 days later, well after we left Rome to defend any claim they billed our credit card $400 for a dent. Impossible to rectify with them. Stay away, don't be fooled by their upfront rates and that you are dealing with a reputable company like Enterprise. Locauto is out to make their money off the back end with their deceitful return practices.

Ulemper: Staff at drop off are terrible in Naples, had paperwork that I got on pickup indicating slight damage on bumper, but when I dropped of the car they said the paperwork meant nothing and the I was responsible for the damage.
Ulemper: Bait and switch.
Ulemper: Avis emplyee told me it is €20 per day for full coverage insurance. However when I pay it, it was more than double because of 90% of taxes. They should have told me before I pay.
Fordeler: Worst experience ever. Rented a nice luxury Mercedes for my honeymoon and when we arrived they had a 3 hr line and then didn’t have a car for me. Ended up sticking me in a terrible tiny little fiat with the most uncomfortable and dangerous ride for my pregnant wife. I have never been so upset
Ulemper: The insurance was so high and that was not mentioned when booking the car online. The VAT as well. I would not rent the car if that was mentioned in the site. I found that totally not fear.
Ulemper: The service at Rome airport where we picked up the car was really, really bad. We had to wait 3hours to see an agent in order to get our car. Very crowded people yelling at the agents. And we lost nearly half day of our vacation waiting for a rental car. Very bad Avis needs to look into this.

Fordeler: The price was excellent and the car was very nice (small Ford SUV diesel for economy price). It even had a built-in SATNAV. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and professional.
Ulemper: Location was difficult to find and not convenient if you're staying in the city. The process in the rental was a little antiquated, requiring a lot of paperwork most companies don't use anymore. Maybe it's an Italian thing.

Fordeler: I didn’t like anything. When we arrived we had not been assigned a car and we were on time. It took over 2 hours to be assigned a car. I paid for an upgrade to try to get a car faster. Then when we arrived to pick up that car, it wasn’t available. We were assigned the same car as another person. Took another hour. Once received the car wasn’t cleaned property.

Fordeler: Staff at pick up were slow, assigned me the wrong car and made it seem like my reservation was a complete hassle
Ulemper: Staff could be welcoming and can confirm your reserved car is in fact there on site
Fordeler: I liked the car.
Ulemper: The pick up location in Rome was horrible, they made me wait for 1h and 20 minutes, the people there were rude. The drop off was worse, location was closed at a Saturday afternoon, when they inspected the car on the next day they charged me $550 for damages on the car that I didn’t do it.

Fordeler: I didn’t like anything. When we arrived we had not been assigned a car and we were on time. It took over 2 hours to be assigned a car. I paid for an upgrade to try to get a car faster. Then when we arrived to pick up that car, it wasn’t available. We were assigned the same car as another person. Took another hour. Once received the car wasn’t cleaned property.
Ulemper: Better communication and recreation system
Fordeler: Car rental was ok
Ulemper: Staff and service were horrible

Ulemper: They rip you off
Ulemper: 45 minute wait at the airport to see the agent! Then they did not have the type of car that was ordered
Fordeler: Staff at pick up were slow, assigned me the wrong car and made it seem like my reservation was a complete hassle
Ulemper: Staff could be welcoming and can confirm your reserved car is in fact there on site
Fordeler: I liked the car.
Ulemper: The pick up location in Rome was horrible, they made me wait for 1h and 20 minutes, the people there were rude. The drop off was worse, location was closed at a Saturday afternoon, when they inspected the car on the next day they charged me $550 for damages on the car that I didn’t do it.
Fordeler: The staff was friendly and the drop off was quick and easy.
Ulemper: Lots of body damage, no cruise control, slow leak in 2 tires. LOTS of add on costs! For example, they made me rent snow chains since I was leaving Rome (going SOUTH!)
Fordeler: Nothing
Ulemper: That I was charged unexpected for damages that were previously in the car (scratches in the front bumper) for a ridiculous amount of 540 EUR! I

Ulemper: The agency claimed I had damaged the car upon returning it and charged me an exorbitant amount of money. Will never use again!

Ulemper: The pick up was a bit disorganized and there were charges that were unexpected but then they were removed. There was also a bill at the end, but then that wasn't on the card. It was a bit confusing.
Fordeler: Paulette was really helpful when we picked up. The drop off was not as easy in Milan, because it wasn’t clear where to go, so we went into the store to ask but there was only one person working and a lot of people waiting. I waited 30 minutes to talk to someone and was told that I just needed to drive up to the 5th floor of garage to return.
Ulemper: Car not clean, car with either no pick-up nor acceleration .
Had to wait in Rome because car was not ready
Fordeler: Staff at Fiumicino were nice but tragically slow. Longest line I have ever seen. Waited easily 90 minutes. Ridiculous
Ulemper: No way to call Hertz in Italy to extend reservation. Plenty of numbers but no one ever picks up. Just had to return the car late and hope for the best. Kayak confirmation number that was meant to be a hertz confirmation number was not recognized by hertz system.

I went back to hertz and they claimed I had lost it and would just have to deal with it for the rest of the week. The customer service was horrific. DO NOT USE!

Ulemper: They were not prepared when we picked up the car and despite arranging an after hours drop off before traveling and again in Rome when picking up the car we discovered there was no place to leave it in Sanremo. So, we had to cancel plans to travel to France yesterday and stay in Sanremo, now Hertz is closed and we still have nowhere to leave the car!
Ulemper: I rented the car for less than 24 hours, picked it up at Firenze, dropped it off at Rome. It was advertised that the price would be 49 euros. That is what I paid when I picked it up. The lady that provided the rental agreement at the counter asked me if I wanted to fill up the gas before dropping it off in Rome or if they can do it for me for a ridiculous amount of money, like 3 times the amount it costs to fill up the gas.I said I would fill it up. She laughed and said OK. I didn't understand what that meant but didn't think much of it. She knew the are in Rome because she explained to me how hard it was to get there, to find the little garage door in between the skinny streets of Rome. When I was ready to drop it off, It took me around 2 hours to find the ONLY gas pump in the whole area and it was broken. THEN, I understand why that lady laughed at my thought of attempting to find a gas station around the area. WHY DIDN'T SHE SAY SOMETHING AND JUST LAUGHED? It was just after midnight, around 12:25 and I had to drop the car off at midnight. There was nobody at the drop off location ( so nobody waiting for the car). At the end my bill was for 134 euros! SO like $180 for less than a day! And today, 4 months later, they attempted to charge my credit card again for an extra $35, for no reason. Stay away from Hertz! You have been warned. oh! And customer service ignored my request to go over charges. They didn't even send me an updated bill until I requested it. Never again Hertz.

I will go back to the same place and get a car

A mess!
Fordeler: Upgraded car performed flawlessly and was very comfortable.
Ulemper: Dollar uses Hertz/Thrifty as agents but nowhere is this mentioned. Nowhere did it say at Rome train station the location to do the paper work was different than where there cars are located so went to the wrong location. Asked about if the car was returned a little after the origination time (as we had to walk back to the parking garage delaying the pick up of the car) if this would be and issue and was told that as long as I was close it would be ok. Found out at the garage that I was not given all the paper work so at the pick up garage they generated new paper work. Picked up the car. The car was not clean. Rushed check out process Large dent in passenger side door and significant scratches elsewhere. Was told by the garage staff they were aware of all the damage. Thankfully took pictures and paid for the supplemental insurance (very pricey). Drove the car without incident. The return to Florence was more near chaos. Arrived a half hour after the origination time due trouble getting diesel and was immediately asked about getting in an accident due to the dent in the door and also noted the scratches. Also he noted I was a 1/2 hour late returning the car. I stated that the body damage was there already there when we got the car but the somewhat surly check in person stated the paper work had no mention of the car having any damage what so ever. His attitude slowly changed when he realized the substitute paper work given to me at the garage was essentially blank with nor even the starting milage filled in. We worked out a guesstimate for the starting milage and likely since I had the supplemebtal full coverage and time dated pictures of the damage he said nothing more about body damage. Also nothing further about late arrival. After having significant stressr and feeling like this was all going terrible wrong he said everything was fine and he closed the rental. In the end I am not sure I would use Dollar again too much chaos!

Fordeler: Nothing. The car was too big. The staff was slow and unhelpful.
Ulemper: The staff was not helpful and we wasted so much time. He didn’t explain anything once we finally got to the counter to get our keys. Didn’t explain the contract or anything.
Ulemper: Very difficult to find the drop off even with Navigation. Employee was not very attentive or helpful.
Reserved airport pickup,paid $70.00 cab to pickup at non-airport locat
Fordeler: Car was ok.
Ulemper: I made reservation for Rome airport p/u. I want someone to call me at 630-587-0032. I am very unhappy with the location I had to pick up which was in Vatican City after a $70.00 cab fare.

Fordeler: Upgraded car performed flawlessly and was very comfortable.
Ulemper: Dollar uses Hertz/Thrifty as agents but nowhere is this mentioned. Nowhere did it say at Rome train station the location to do the paper work was different than where there cars are located so went to the wrong location. Asked about if the car was returned a little after the origination time (as we had to walk back to the parking garage delaying the pick up of the car) if this would be and issue and was told that as long as I was close it would be ok. Found out at the garage that I was not given all the paper work so at the pick up garage they generated new paper work. Picked up the car. The car was not clean. Rushed check out process Large dent in passenger side door and significant scratches elsewhere. Was told by the garage staff they were aware of all the damage. Thankfully took pictures and paid for the supplemental insurance (very pricey). Drove the car without incident. The return to Florence was more near chaos. Arrived a half hour after the origination time due trouble getting diesel and was immediately asked about getting in an accident due to the dent in the door and also noted the scratches. Also he noted I was a 1/2 hour late returning the car. I stated that the body damage was there already there when we got the car but the somewhat surly check in person stated the paper work had no mention of the car having any damage what so ever. His attitude slowly changed when he realized the substitute paper work given to me at the garage was essentially blank with nor even the starting milage filled in. We worked out a guesstimate for the starting milage and likely since I had the supplemebtal full coverage and time dated pictures of the damage he said nothing more about body damage. Also nothing further about late arrival. After having significant stressr and feeling like this was all going terrible wrong he said everything was fine and he closed the rental. In the end I am not sure I would use Dollar again too much chaos!

Ulemper: I wanted to extend the car by one day and could not do so.
The car park where to pick up the car is quite a far distance from the station, especially if you have luggage.
On check in, they don’t show you the car status report but email it to you.
The FIAT car has a problematic stop start mechanism which is not good if you’ve never driven Fiat and new to Rome streets

Ulemper: It took over 3 hours to pick up the car. Unacceptable.
Ulemper: Waited one hour for my car to arrive past pick up outside in the heat
Ulemper: I had an 11am reservation and when I showed up at 11am I had to take a ticket to wait in line and it was a 3 hour wait! I cancelled my reservation after 1 hour of waiting and used a different company. Why bother having reservations if you don't even try to honor them?
Fordeler: Car to be washed before pickup. Radio didnt work.

They refused to accept 3rd parties insurance
Ulemper: RETURN TAKE SOME TIME. 30 MIN ...??? SMALL SIGN .HARD TO LOOK FOR IT.

I told her that I sold Audi and other German cars but it was too small for 5 adults and luggage She laughed it off and told us that's it and told our agent to blow us off. She was also dealing with someone with the same problem and he booked months ago as we did. she said the same thing to him. OUr agent just gave up because all the staff could care less for reservations. They are meaningless. We ended up next door to Maggiore 10 minutes we were on our way.

Ulemper: I dropped off at Rome Termini and the drop off location is different than what is shown on Google maps. I think there is an office in the train station where you sign the paperwork when picking up, that's what is listed on Google Maps. The drop off is a parking garage just down the road, which happens to be a one way street. Miss it and you have to do a big loop. If there had been a larger sign at the drop off location for Europcar it would have prevented me driving by it. Not really a big deal.
Ended up renting with Alamo ; a mistake
