Leaving the place. Considering the state of accommodation in cairo this maybe a good hotel but by european standards is maybe a one star Mosquitoes, Lift is dangerous i.e shoots up if someone calls the lift when your getting out, hotel is on 6th floor and is really a pension not a hotel, ground floor is filthy with cats running in and out and what appear to be a ruin of a building beside it !!!! shower and bathroom is in one room so if you have a shower expect not to be able to use the toilet
The hotel employs friendly staff who are more than happy to deal with requests. The room, although a little damaged by damp on one wall, was extremely clean, as were all bed sheets. The hotel is very central, ideal for walking to a number of interesting sites. The view from the roof terrace is fantastic. Breakfast is very limited, but Gad and McDonalds are very close by. The breakfast could include milk to go in tea or coffee.
Abdou, Mahmoud, and the rest of the staff are my family. They treat me with great care and concern. The Rotana Hotel is beautiful since the restoration. Anyone going to Cairo and wants to be safe, surrounded by loving people should go to the Rotana Palace Hotel. They will take care of you there always.
helpfull staff, very clean room and amazing location it was my best trip in my life. i will come back as soon as i can. i love egypt
my stay was very short but all of the people working there were extremely helpful and nice. might be important that it is actually the Rotana Palace Hostel
It wasn't clean and they didn't allow any one to visit me in my room. Is it a prison!!!
Our double room was large and the decor of the hotel was quite fun. Checking in very late at night was not a problem, and they helped with airport runs. The beds were very old and soft
We liked it here very much!
The staff is the best in egypt, very honest and informative.Rooms are clean and the hostel in general looks like a home(not place for buisness) and the open buffet in the morning is great.
The hostel was perfect for saving money and 2 or 3 nights in cairo. They offer main services we need. Our room was huge and clean.Staff was great and more than friendly,no pushing for tours at all and they gave us all posibilities after we refused tours.
Hostel was located in the center of Cairo, near to shops, restaurants, metro. Good place to meet spirit of the city. Very small bathroom
We are satisfied with the hotel. Although the price was very low, the room was large enough for 2 people and we liked the atmosphere of the ancient building. Good location. Breakfast was simple - bread, egg and tea were served. Staff was good at English, very friendly and always helpful. For example, when we were running out of time and really had to hurry to the airport, the guy at the front desk came out, and picked up a taxi for us in front of the hotel. We were very thankful for their hospitality. Shower was not hot...but could be nice for cooling down sun-tanned skin.
We felt realy like home.Location is the best, our room was spacious with homely nice color.Free Wifi was super.Staff so friendly,no pushing for tours.Managers always setting there handle everything with a smile. Taxi driver wanted to take us another place pretending that he didnt hear about the african hostel.Be sure also because you will meet a lot of touts in the street.
The staff was the best, very friendly and helpful. The hostel itself located in the quite part of downtown,no noisy!bathrooms are average..so many tourists come here,so easier to share some people with tours with cheaper prices.Wifi inside my room was great option. they dont have meals except breakfast, but so many restaurants are nearby.
The staff was very helpfull all time. We can leave our baggage after checking out for free. Next time I will choose this hostel again. There were mosquitos in the room.
Everything was great,we enjoyed our stay there.our room was upperfloor with a nice balcony.People running the place are nice and friendly,we booked with them 1 night luxor tour and was perfect. They have 2 sweety cats and small fish aquarium gave homely feeling for the african hostel. Better to bring your own towel with you, they offer towel but not that big!
The staff is very nice and the rooms, when they are done as they forgot to clean my room once, are very clean. However, at first they gave me a room which was very very small. 3 sides of the bed were actually touching 3 walls of the room! The room definitely had absolutely nothing to see with what was described on booking.com website. It took me a good half an hour of talking with the staff and the manager to get an other room which this time was a decent one! Then, two days in a raw, the hotel experienced electricity break down which lead to water break down since the water was coming up with electricity pomp. The first day I was lucky to have a shower before the electricity breakdown but the second day I could not have a shower which was very very frustrating. I asked the staff if they could check with the neighbours or an other hotel nearby whether I could take a shower, they just laugh at me saying they would be ashamed to ask such a request... I then asked if they could provide me a bottle of water so that I could brush my teeth and wash my face... they wanted me to pay for it! The hotel is clean and the staff is very nice but honestly, I can hardly recommend to stay in this hotel!
Friendly staff, clean rooms, good location.
Fantastic location. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Arranged a 15 day trip for us at a great price (included trips to Luxor, Alexandria, Red Sea, etc). Gave us a room to 'refresh' in after check out times. Staff gave great advice on best places to eat, etc. Hotel Vienna is very well run.
The entire staff was friendly and helpful. We were treated like family. Guests gathered in the lobby every evening for tea or coffee (freshly prepared and complimentary) and shared experiences and tips. One night traditional Egyptian fare was brought in for everyone (again complimentary). I will definitly stay there on my next trip. Hello to everyone if you read this! The 104 steps from the sidewalk to the lobby. The elevator was broken.
Very basic but good for budget travelers. Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms. It is on the fourth flour (corresponding to sixth by the number of stairs) and there is no lift, so carrying the luggage up and down is really hard
Central location The fact that the hotel is reached by climbing exactly 105 stairs (no elevator) from street level. This should be mentioned in web site because I would hate to have made reservations only to find out about the climb and not be medically able to get to the hotel ie. heart condition
Location, price, friendly staff.
nothing is good ,i don't like this hotel, the people ,the hotel ,all the thing is bad.And i have change hotel in the end. All is bad!!! we have booking a Triple Room with Shower, Air Conditioning, Radio, Toilet ,but there are not hot water,"The fact that the hotel is reached by climbing exactly 105 stairs (no elevator) from street level. This should be mentioned in web site because I would hate to have made reservations only to find out about the climb and not be medically able to get to the hotel ie. heart condition",the people of this hotel is not kind! i have change hotel in the end.
Nothing No access of Internet since I did not carry my own laptop
This is a budget hotel. Its up about 4 flights of stairs. I stayed with my 3 children and found the staff friendly and very helpful, they did us a picnic breakfast when we left very early to get a flight, and also refunded some money which they did not have to. Its also in a central part of Cairo and easy to get to places of interest.
I have just spent tow nights at the King's Palace, with comfortable old-fashioned beds, sparkling clean bathrooms, and staff making you feel very much at home. Although a hostel, there are single and double room options as well. And it is just a stone's throw from Taalart Harb Square, the heart of the city. You can check your emails free of charge, and there is satellite TV in the lounge. The only downside, it is on the fourth floor and there is no lift. So no need to go to a gym!
Very basic accommodations. Good size room (#102) with balcony, small bathroom (shower basically on top of toilet). Working wi-fi. Friendly people. You need to accept that the hostel is in the 4th flloor (no elevator/lift) of a partially abandoned building: the 3rd floor is occupied, ground level, 1st and 2nd floors are basically collecting garbage and urine. The room is just off the reception area, which means you get the noise and smoke from people in the reception.
Lovely people and the owner gives you very good advice on everything
The manager, Mohammed, was a nice guy, who sat down with us on the night we came to plan and arrange our trip through Egypt. He did not push things and I think the price we paid for the trip was reasonable, although several times the itinerary he gave us was not completely accurate. There was a normal Egyptian breakfast with bread, jam, cheese, bananas, eggs and tea or coffee. The toilets were working properly and the showers had warm water. We booked for two nights, at the first sight of the room, we liked to turn around and find another hotel, but in the end we ended up staying 4 nights. The night we arrived we were put in a twin room (instead of a double room), which had childish bedsheets (one sheet per bed to sleep on, so only a blanket to sleep under). The room had been painted recently, but very unprofessionally and the bathroom did not look like it was was created by professionals either, but I guess this is the case in many Egyptian hotels/houses. However, the next day we got a better room, with enough bedsheets and the day after that we finally got a room with a real double bed, which looked a lot better than the first room too. Except from Mohammed himself, the staff was quite uninterested, sometimes a bit lazy.
it was nice weather very noisy
The cozy feeling of staying at someone's home - few rooms, few guests, personal service and communication. Genuine smiles. Also importantly, the welcoming e-mail after booking.com sent its confirmation, was a nice touch and shed our fears if the hotel would be informed of us. Bathroom spacious and so so sweet. Jacuzzi bathroom also indeed exists! Breakfast regular for that level but always with fresh bread, and they serve local Al-Arosa tea! Could practice cooking American/German type of coffee though, also ;). Though there are delivery services, so you can order a delivery of cappuccino or latte, if want. Location simply heavenly if want to experience Cairo city - everything is somewhere near. Khan el Khalili 2 min and 5LE by taxi. Dust under beds when we moved them - so human, though! :) And mattresses have slippery covers so sheets were continuously "running" under us. Use cover sheets or larger sheets? Water heater was not switched on and we did not realise it was not... until bath time. Staff is obviously untrained but perhaps some daily procedures could be written out for them. These are all small things of course, I only mention them so the hotel can become even better.
Location of the hotel and excursions proposed by the hotel.
Stort rom med egen balkong. Sentral beliggenhet i down town, og kort vei Egyptian Museum. Jeg ønsker kjøleskap og fri internett tilgang på rommet.
Personalet var alltid hyggelig og tok seg tid til å svare på spørsmålene mine etter beste evne
Det ligger sentralt i Down Town. Tilbringertjenesten til/fra flyplassen fungerte bra. God service fra personalet. Ønsker tilgang på internett.
Very helpful staff, convenient location in city center, easy availability of shops, restaurants and some tourist sites like the Cairo Museum. Pretty much anything can be arranged at the front desk, available 24/7. Wi-fi was often unreliable. Slow, lots of dropouts, though the service would usually pick back up fairly quickly. And someone would often turn off the system during the night.
