The hotel was lovely. Nice and central to all the events going on over the weekend and the city centre for shopping. The pool was lovely and In can't wait to stay again! The complimentary newspaper at the door when I woke was a nice touch as well.
The location of the hotel was the best. Swimming facilities were neglected, it did not appear very clean and most of all the whole area was very cold, no heating in the room, it felt like being almost outside, especially in August, it discouraged us from swimming despite the fact that it was the main reason of choosing the hotel.
Convenient to conference
Only stayed one night but the service was great.
Location was a key to my stay, and i usually stay at a nearby hotel that was booked out so staying at the Grand Chancellor was a pleasant alternative
Spacious room, all the expected amenities.Room had a work desk which was a bit wasted on us as we were on holiday. Everything worked ok. The hotel is well located to the city centre and the sea front. Tv, although in good working order, looked a bit dated. Perhaps the hotel should invest in flat screen, wall mounted tv'S.
Very central and within walking distance from CBD Parking garage entry can be improved. Had no indication where to put my access card in. Would help to have a flashing light such as at ATM's
Our booking was incomplete upon our arrival but, with a little time, our concerns were professionally handled and as a result we had an extremely comfortable stay.
The captivating and entertaining harbour views, the exceptionally thoughtful and friendly staff, as well as the delightful and comprehensively varied full buffet breakfast and efficient room service. The 2 day parking charge relating to a 1 night stay. However, this is a minor issue.
Staff were fantastic, and the new Restaurant had a great seafood platter. Suite room was very comfortable and handy for city access, right across the road for adventure cruises.
The location and comfort of the apartment including the size and self catering facilities. There was only one mirror in the whole apartment and also the lack of sheer curtains on the windows which would have been helpful with privacy. Our apartment faced houses across the road which were on the same level.
Location - it was in the heart of the city and walking distance to the harbour-front, Salamanca Place which made it very convenient. View from the windows - from the 4th floor we could not see outside because windows were either facing skywards, or they were at waist level and we had to crouch to look outside. Even then, the view was blocked because building features where right in front of window. Also TV's were old tube style - in this day and age we expected to have at least a 42" flat screen....
The staff were excellent and the hotel was interesting. The room was very comfortable.
the staff went above and beyond to make my stay great. so friendly and helpful in every area. carparking was short, but they did give me alternatives which was great
The location. The open fire in the lounge. The air conditioner in our room was inoperative.
A beautiful carefully renovated building, with a lovely ambience, and friendly and relaxed staff.
Convenient to central Hobart and sights
Staff were very helpful. I arrived at around 8:45 pm, and I was told that the kitchen was closed.
We enjoyed the location of the hotel because it was very easy to get around. I felt the word "superior room" was very over rated, I felt like it was no more than a standard room. The mat in the shower/bath was discusting I would expect to see that standard in a hotel in the back of Australia. The cups were not washed and someone had used the sample bottle of moisturizer and put it back. The tables in the foyer had definetly not been wiped down for quite a long time as there were glass marks and dirt all over it which was very obvious when the light was on it.
I loved the traditional decor and the old world charm
great value mini bar, surprisingly classy rooms & facilities, friendly & helpful staff. some traffic noise on 5th floor
We were happy with all aspects. The dining room value for money and quality of the evening meals. The dining room staff were very helpful and gave an honest accurate assessment of the hotel. I felt they were an asset to the hotel and should be appraised. I was a bit concerned about parking but found a spot on each occasion.
Very pleased with the food provided and the helpfulness of the staff and their interest in offering advice when requested. The outside traffic, but you can't do anything about that and we had no real problem with it.it
great location at reasonable price. Friendly & helpful staff and clean rooms. older style hotel with minimum facilities
Nice hotel central to Hobart. Cheap and comfortable.
Easy access to harbourside and CBD, restful.
Strategic location & free car park
The hotel is central located restaraunt and mini bar prices are very resonable. the rooms are very comfortable and staff are very helpfull.
Convenient, quiet, easy access to city shower - impossible to control water temperature - either too hot or too cold . Need additional parking
Well mannered staff. Comefortable rooms. Dining is excellent value.Note, we used to stay at Wrest Point - you do it equally as well.
Good position, close to Salamanca Place, the harbour and the concert hall. I wish a single room was half the price of a double.
Its proimity to my conference venue
This hotel has poor ventilation, It was stuffy. I suspect it has "Sick Building Syndrome" a condition where carbon dioxide, paint and plastic emissions acculmulate due to poor ventilation.
The bathroom facilities were great, beds were comfortable, there was no noise from the outside despite being close to night spots. Staff were exellent and very helpful. Nice big room even with three people. Tried to park the morning before, rang up to confirm and was told it would be fine, but at that time of the morning the only parking available were metered spaces. Not a problem for me but might be for an elderley couple.
we are regular patrons of this hotel. It is ideally situated for a visit to Hobart.
Locality to the city and surrounds
Central to all that we wanted to do and see
I liked the location and it wasnt far to walk in to the centre of town. There were great places to eat near by.
It was well located near the Salamanca and waterfront areas. Quiet despite a pub opposite being very busy one night. It was one of the blandest, plainest room I have ever stayed in - reminded me of a student hall of residence. Not a place to linger- but functional.
Very easy and quick to access rooms from the streetfront. Very quiet compared to most hotels. Very close to the waterfront and to the restaurants at Salamanca.
Great location. Can walk to shops and wharf restaurants. Airport shuttle and Hop On-Off bus stop close by. Excellent breakfast included. Large bath area. Taxi stand in front. Friendly staff. We would stay again. The bed room area a little congested but manageable. Would stay again.
Can't go wrong with the location. Right near the Salamanca Market, the MONA ferry, restaurants, bars, even the MOFO Festival (which I wasn't in town to attend)... The room I stayed in (Room 1) was DIRECTLY over the bar and overlooked the sidewalk where bar patrons hung out all night. I am NOT a light sleeper, but this was a tough couple of nights even for me. The bar sing-a-longs were frequent and boisterous and the live music was quite loud. The room itself was barely a step up from a hostel--not that I've ever stayed in one, but everything (furniture, bed coverings, carpets, etc.) was shabby and seemingly second-hand. I didn't do much researcher for alternatives in Hobart because the Customs House seemed so
