Location was convenient, in that it was close to the train and bus stations, but the surrounding area was a bit dull (10-15 minute walk to restaurants and old town)
Very spacious, well located. Perfectly fine for an inexpensive place to sleep. Very friendly staff Very, very cheap feeling furniture. (The cabinet panel covering the dishwasher fell on my ankle when I tried to open it.) I'm also not a fan of bathrooms with no shower enclosure.
Best food ever! None
The courteus and cooperative attitude staff, quality of the restaurant, good service, parking Slow, almost unusable WiFi internet in the rooms
Superb restaurant. The bedroom was very stylish and comfortable. Good car-parking and with easy access to the ports Needed flannels (face-cloths). Coffee making facilities in the room would have been helpful. These were minor imperfections
Courtesy of staff, comfort of facility, and value of money. The design of the rooms is outstanding. Hotel is one of the best I visited recently The choise available at breakfast.
Staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Room was very elegant, modern and tastefully furnished. Breakfast selection was great and perfect for our needs. Superb restaurant. Only one English TV channel, BBC World News. No sports channels or Sky News.
Very pleasant, relaxing 3 night stay. Very quiet, as our room was located at the back of the hotel, away from the main road. (There were not may other guests staying while we were there.) The location is good if you have a car, both for the city centre and other places of interest close to Caen. Very comfortable clean room, lovely bathroom, excellent shower. Friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was more than adequate and beautifully presented although limited in variety and probably not worth 15 euros - ours was included in the price. We had lunch in the restaurant on one day and it was a indeed a memorable experience! Definitely worth the money. After the second night, soap and toiletries which we had been using were replaced with new ones, which I thought was very wasteful!
The bedrooms were well designed and the beds were very comfortable....The restaurant was amazing for dinner with high class french cooking
Externally the hotel is like a factory unit but inside it's an oasis of charm and refinement. The hotel has a famous restaurant which, alas, is closed on Sunday nights.
The room was lovely and the restaurant was amazing. The location was a bit off the beaten path.
location,room,breakfast,room service and staff excelent
Proximity to centre of town terrific. Underground car park very convenient. Easy access to restaurants, shopping and Chateau.
Hotel easy to find clean and tidy rooms staff very helpful No real bad points
Happy that the reception staff spoke English and were helpful in booking taxis and advising re local information. I did not like the fact that I was unable to get any food before 7 p.m. in the hotel or in fact in the town. I had been travelling all day and there was nowhere to eat anything. Even the hotel's room service was not available in the afternoon - not until 7 p.m.
Car Parking was convenient and so was the postion of the hotel. The restuarant was expensive and poor quality by comparison
Very noisy outside late into the night. Duvet too heavy and therefore too hot
friendly staff easy parking cost
Room (327) facing courtyard-very quiet despite city centre location.Excellent bed & opaque curtains-slept well. The air-conditioning was turned off.No fridge in room.Hot food not replenished at breakfast.
The location was good, and on Sunday morning there was a market outside.
Welcoming environment in the hotel. Comfortable lobby, nice and friendly service.
the hotel position is good, city centre withinreach, main e46 very near, menu excellent no
We enjoyed the evening meal in the restaurant very much and found the service to be very good. The room did not have had tea/coffee making facilities
everything! fantastic hotel with very helpful and friendly staff, top class food in the restaurant and family friendly, basic but clean and comfortable room, would definitely come back.
Cheap but ok room.
the breakfast facilities were excellent. A lot of care given. The ease of booking in. The rooms were very, very basic. No Shower curtain!! No Hairdryer!! and in desperate need of updating.
When rains, you can hear dripping water from the roof to something on the ground (eaves are probably stuffy) .....
Access to WiFi Apart from WiFi and a restaurant on site - which we did not use - the hotel was no better than the "budget" accommodation supplied by Etap and village hotels just a short distance away at less than half the price. Having used "budget" hotels in the past when travelling through France we had expected a much better standard of accommodation based on the price that we were paying, very disappointing.
A little bit worn and scruffy, but good value for the money; very helpful staff, facilities pretty good, breakfast good, dinner surprisingly good, nice swimming pool.
proximity to sites we wanted to see no warm water, thought we would have a nicer room.
Convenient location for our overnight stop with good parking, restaurant and bar.
I thought it exuded a warm, friendly atmosphere There was nothing I disliked about it
Comfortably situated with respect to the city center. A quiet, nice place for travelers. There are several good restaurants in the vicinity. Parking facility is not available for the hotel's guests.
Able to walk to location from train station. Uncomfortable bed.
Staff very attentive & responsive to reservation process & confirmation. Nothing. Very nicely done.
this hotel was very central and the lift was very welcome.the doubleglaseing was good in the summer this room was very hot and with 2 night clubs across the road the windows had to stay shut, the room the bathroom were very small
A good stay spoiled by a very noisy street - no sleep until 3 am.
Bra beliggenhet. God frokost. Litt trangt i parkeringsgarasjen. Veeeldig treig heis!
Fint frokostrom i 5. etasje.
Very friendly and helpful hotel staff. Excellent location very close to old city centre, shops and restaurants. Wonderful buffet breakfast. The 'standard' room was a bit on the small side, but ok. We had enough room for the 2 of us.
Quiet, parking possibility, very good situation
The service overall was predominantly very good, especially at the restaurant. On arrival we came down for a drink after check in, we were kept waiting about 20 minutes before we were able to get a drink, I had to ask her her 3 or 4 times during that period,This was the only blip, the service thereafter was very good from the reception desk.
Superb food and service
was wonderful and friendly. Diner was outstanding! too much rain...but I guess you cannot control
Outstanding food, excellent staff, wonderful atmosphere, good location. I first stayed here about 15 years ago and the level of service and quality of the food has been maintained with the same level of excellence and care - an outstanding tribute to the dedication and care of the management and staff at Le Dauphin.
Hotel is clean, quiet and has very helpful staff
Excellent location for town of Caen. Good for shopping. Parking a problem. Breakfast not good value for money. Nice hotel overall but for a 4 star rating needs a bit more. Bathroom very sparc with accessories, hair dryer very poor wall mounted. Bar expensive for drinks.
A high standard hotel in an excellent city centre location. Good parking.
The checkin clerk was very friendly and the room was great for the price. The shower was quite filthy.
Location is very convenient to the railway station and to the rental car offices. The most basic hotel I've ever stayed in. No AC, hard mattress laying on a board, musty towels, no hand towel, strange characters hanging out in fronts of the hotel, poor lighting, no way to pull the bathroom door closed, strange shower. A dump!
The front desk young man was helpful, polite, and kind. he worked every day I was there so he recognized me and always said hello as I entered or left the hotel. My room air conditioner was broken.
Great staff and location. Comfy rooms
cleanliness was excellent, reasonable location rooms needed decor modernising, no english tv in room.
A clean, pleasant and very conveniently located hotel close to the railway station, car rental offices, and short walk to town centre. Smell of smoking in bedroom.
Close to town centre. Large room with comfortable bed and a tea/coffee maker.
Friendly staff. Proximity to raiway station. Noisy street outside window
Breakfast Noisy rooms
The location was central to the city and very close to the train station and rental car agencies. Parking was available at no cost. The staff was very helpful but spoke very little English. The room rate was very good.
This was a good inexpensive hotel that is located a block from the train station. Our room was sparse but comfortable and worked fine for our one night stopover in Caen. There does not seem to be anyone at the hotel who speaks english but we were able to communicate with the hotel clerk for what we needed.
very helpful staff, nice room.
Hotel in need of investment. Bar area poor, and the restraunt claiming variety of cuisine was inaccurate. Would not recommend hotel to any family seeking accomodation in Caen as there are no facilities in the hotel or in the vicinity of the hotel for families.
The hotel was very easy to find from the directios given, only a matter of minutes from the motorway.. On arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful with an excellent understanding of English - far better than my French. The rooms we booked were clean and comfortable - ideal after a days travelling. If needed the bar is open 24/7!! Although there was tea and coffee facilities in the room there was no milk, reception was unable to supply. The dining room was not open as it was a Saturday night - however I can thoughly recommend the Buffulo Grill 2 minutes walk away.
Rooms were spacious and conveniently located next to a Buffalo Grill. Probably could do with a refurb.
friendly staff and ease of access as well as good value for money
The staff were very helpful and really polite and the breakfast was good It was a bit noisy and the view wasn't that great but then it was also very cheap so you get what you pay for!
Very close to the tram stop - tram goes into the city centre and you can leave the car at the car park.
Very friendly staff, clean, and a convenient location for Normandy business school where my daughter is studying. Also located next to Buffalo Grill which was excellent. Nothing
staff were very helpful generally, hotel was very quiet and located very conveniently just off the Caen ring road.Parking wasavailable right outside my window as it happens, and was free and secure. Not really, the room fittings could have done with a few simple repairs, eg the shower riser clamp for the shower head did not retain the shower head in position, consequently the shower head slid down the rail of its own annoying accord. Also Tea / Coffee kit in room had no milk. Hotel had no maps available for the Normandie beach areas, which is a bit strange as its allegedly a popular hotel for visitors to that area??
Overall the hotel was clean, The staff was helpfully Hotel returant wasn't open on the weekends and holiday so it made it hard to find a resturant for dinner.
good location for Normandy Beaches No frills
Good restaurant in hotel altho limited menu. Liked being able to have 2 interconnecting rooms for family. Staff all spoke excellent English and were very helpful. Convenient for ferry from Caen Bit out of the way-a good 20 mind walk to town centre but near to Expo-Parc. Staff rather harrassed serving in restaurant and attending to reception but pleasant and helpful all the same.
Excellent value for money and location for visiting Caen, beaches and port. Ample free parking, which was great as we'd driven up from Spain. City centre was only a short simple drive away or a 20 min walk.
the hotel was east to locate and had its own parling, yje rooms were reasonably comfortable and the family room consisted of 2 adjoining rooms. most of the front staff spoke english service for the evening meel was very poor, the staff consisted of a young trainee waitress and the very overworked experienced waitress who was also the barmaid and receptionist. it took over 2 hours to gey a simple 3 course meal ( 2 courses were from buffets) after a number of complaints. our set off time meant leaving the hotel at 6.30 am and had to guess where to leave keys as no night porter.the bathrooms were tattty
A good basic hotel, with friendly staff. Room a bit cold for end of October.
It was very close to the Zenith so we could easily and quickly walk to a concert. The limited dining times - from 7pm in the evening so no chance of a hot drink or dining earlier. The lack of hotel staff at the desk in the early morning. The desk area was still all locked up at 6.45am so no-one was available to help with problems. The lack of availability of water or other drinks (tea & coffee).
Inexpensive. Good front staff. Service in restaurant was excellent , allowed us to make our concert easily.Food was good value, filling rather than gourmet but well cooked and presented. Wifi easy to access. No exhaust fans in bathroom
Stayed one night to catch the ferry and evening meal was good. As the ferry was early unable to have breakfast. Decided to stay two nights on return the following week, when I booked the two nights I was assured it would be the same reduced rate, foolishly I didn't get it in writing. I was put into a room that the TV didn't work and no soap dispite repeated requests. Not a good experiance!!
Clean, close by parking, nice breakfast (not included) Location requires a car if u want to go to the town's center
Good clean room in a quiet area. In an industrial area, so it was a little bit difficult to find.
Breakfast and friendly reception In a commercial suburb and not central which would have been better for us. Difficult to find late at night without a sat. nav.
it was good and clean and i would use it again in in your district beds could have a better quality mattress as they were quite thin but we slept ok.
Excellent & efficient duty manager, breakfast The run down exterior was very offputting-needs a lot of tlc
Accommodation was comfortable and clean, even if the twin room turned out to be a family double. Due to the location of the hotel it was necessary to fully unload our car. The presence of a gypsy encampment next to the hotel was a bit unnerving.
IT is not for the faint hearted. not enough space to swing a cat
Convientiently located for stopping for ferries, in either direction, and joining the main routesd out of town. aving got off an eveni g ferry there was no food available as the nearby resteraunt closed at 9pm (we arrived at 10pm). As we were on two wheels it was not really practical to find an alternatinf venue to eat in.
it was cheap clean and a good location for an overnight stop the room did smell a bit smokey
Close to all facilities and central shops No parking available
Economy, Staff Friendly
