True all inclusive with free activities including snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle-boarding Food was excellent and varied weather was perfect staff was exemplary Feeling of being trapped at the resort Few shopping opportunities Very expensive excursion opportunities and few options to go outiside of resort sponsored excursions
Fantastic staff. Very attentive. Everyone we encounter was friendly and helpful. The meals were very good. The resort is about five minutes from the airport and the hotel gave several members of our group complimentary late checkout times so that we could enjoy ourselves more on our final day. Excellent guest services to help set up excursions or to assist you in planning activities. Excellent pools and bars. Lots of evening activities. The resort is on the Atlantic side of the island do the beach isn't what you normally think of on a Caribbean island. I was told the better beaches are on the opposite side of the island where the majority of resorts are located. So if you are looking to lay on a sandy beach I would not recommend this resort. But there are nice loungers looking at over the ocean with a nice breeze. And the view over the water is beautiful with a couple hilly islands.
Location, staff and amenities were perfect. Second time we have been there and our anniversary trip was just perfect.
We were ''bumped'' from our honeymoon plans (hurricane problems)to this lovely spot. A welcomed accident. A six foot (stunning) woman draped in white greeted us at the door to the plantation room restaurant with ''what would you love?''. Our ten days here will be hard to top. Go there and enjoy!
we were there for our 50th and the place was as special as we had hoped, 80+ villas, 5 restaurants, taxi drivers were great and not expensive, native food great, ALL PEOPLE on St Lucia are very friendly
My pedal boat ride was 90 USD. My resort fee NOT INCLUDED with all-inclusive option was 300 USD for 5 nights. Be prepared! Otherwise, great place!
The Jalousie Plantation sits between the two Pitons of St. Lucia and provids a very quite and intimate setting surrounded by incredible beauty. Beware of menu prices a hot dog was $14 and a luch buffet was $45 per person. Going into town to buy food for breakfast and luch for a week will cost you about $65, or go with the All Inclusive and get the sticker shock out of the way. Rooms were clean with great views and the staff was fantastic. '
My wife and I stayed at The Jalousie Plantation from May 21st-26th. It was our first trip to St. Lucia. We couldn't have picked a more romantic setting. The resort is situated on a small bay between the Pitons. Petite Piton rises up steeply just off the beach -- it's incredible. Not only is this the most scenic area of the island, but it's also close to many of the major attractions, such as Diamond Falls and Sulphur Springs. Castries is roughly 40 minutes away via water taxi. We stayed in an oceanview villa. The villas themselves were outdated but still clean and comfortable. Some villas are individual cottages; others consist of two joined units, though each still has a private patio with a plunge pool. If you're looking for fancy accomodations you'll be disappointed here, but the villas were perfectly acceptable and, frankly, a bit of an afterthought considering all the natural scenery. There were only two restaurants open on the resort: casual dining at The Bayside and ...
We went for our honeymoon and found this hotel to be very relaxing and enjoyable. The beach is definately the highlight of this resort. There is not much choice in entertainment and the show at Cafe Bang was ridiculous. The room was clean and we enjoyed using our outdoor patio but hardly used our plunge pool. The food was especially good at The Pier and the Plantation Room. We usually had lunch on the beach and often ordered room service for breakfast Next time around we'll probably invest in the all-inclusive meal plan. Dinner alone was an average of $100 a night.
A very desirable location and ambiance. The staff was very nice and friendly. There was a pleasant breeze most of the time and lovely flora fauna and rainforest throughout the property. Lovely beach and 'toys' to kayak, snorkel, and hobi cat included for guest use. Excellent Snorkeling. The only disappointment was the construction noise at the beach that went on into the evening (past dark) and no live music. This will become ''The Tides at Sugar Beach'' in the future, since it is currently under renovation. This was the location of a sugar plantation, so has history and artifacts, with a 'colonial' flare. We rented a four wheel automatic drive Jeep from Drive a Matic (excellent service and vehicles, ask for (X) to get around. Soufrierre is about a 10 minute drive. To the southern airport (UVF) is about one hour. Because of the construction noise and the reports we read about the dining at this facility we didn't eat here, although we were here 11 days. We were in Sugar Mill...
Just got back from 7 night trip to Jalousie. Warning to anyone who wants to go for a romantic vavation - lots and lots of kids there - no kids swimming pool - can get a little noisy - I booked an ocean view villa - ocean vew just about okay - lots of trees around the villas hide a perfect view - also fair warning that most villas are in fact duplexes - you have your own plunge pool but the terrace around it faces the door (which is locked and has privacy glass)of your neighbors - Whilst outside at your villa your neighbors can hear everything, and their plunge pool is only steps away. we had a family with kids staying next door and in the early morning they would play in the pool, so not much privacy or late night swimming or hanging around your deck, unless you want to disturb your neighbors. Staff was excellent, food excellent, bought the all inclusive package, no night entertainment, was mostly in bed by 10 pm. Some snorkeling on site, canoes, very little other water sports there. C...
Reading on the beach in summer is traditional. But on this beach the view is so fantastic that you have to put your book down and just stare. The Petit Piton rises directly out of the water to 2400 feet straight up. Great snorkeling off the beach. Loads of great fish. The resort setting is quite vertical; you use the resort transport to get around. Main restaurant is exquisite- not much more than the average in-town price, well worth it.
Jade Mountain is amazing beautiful and has first class service and amenities all the way. It is not the cheapest hotel in the world, but the value for the money is well worth it. If you want a quiet, romantic and stunningly beautiful vacation with top class food and service - Jade Mountain is your place
First I'd like to start by stating that I am a very difficult traveler to please. Considering the price tag I was looking for anything wrong with Jade Mountain to potential warn fellow tourists...fortunately and unfortunately I came up empty handed....this place is simply amazing. I'd also like to add that I am very prone to mosquito bites and can count on one hand the times I was bitten here. (I was once bitten at the restaurant, a server heard me complain and my butler was promptly notified and brought up a brand new bug spray...still speechless about that.# The view was just spectacular as was the food and service all around. I chose the breakfast/dinner meal plan which gave us the flexibility of lunch wherever we wanted #I recommend doing this option#. I also chose the helicopter transfer in both directions #very expensive however worth every penny). I did however make one mistake and that was attempting to use a 3rd party company to book an excursion...I will not go into detail ho...
This place is heaven on earth! My wife and I went here on our honeymoon and had a very memorable experience. The view from our room of the Pitons could have been from a movie set. We chose to eat all of our breakfast and dinners at the resort and all of the meals were top notch. I highly recommend eating at the resort for dinner. The staff were also ready to accommodate us whenever we needed. Also the beach just below the resort is very private and beautiful. Great snorkeling is just minutes away. Even the resort beach has good snorkeling. The resort is also very quite because there are no children under 15 allowed. We will definitely be returning to paradise in the future.
We stayed at fond doux planatation earlier this year and that was the best honeymoon ever. The plantation life was to die for, the flowers were so beautiful oh gosh i've never seen so much beauty. The cottages was spotless and the scent of the flowers were breath taking. Oh how could i have forgotten A and the restaurant staff , the service was great and the food was so tasty. We would recommond fond doux to any one who loves nature. We will be back with friends next year
I loved the serenity of the place, all the cottages spaced out with many being totally secluded. The grounds were lovely to wander around especially the hike up to the top of the plantation with the view of the pitons. The hospitality of the owners. The cottage we stayed in could have had a few more utensils etc but as we weren't there to self cater it didn't really matter.
Saint Lucian experience- and Eco sustainable environment Microwave did not work and kitchen glasses, dishes, and coffee maker not clean. Mold found in coffee filter.
The Staff was phenomenal when it came to helping out with whatever we needed. Starting from extra towels to guiding with getting to and from the local tourism spots, they helped us with everything. I didn't like that hotel didn't have any kitchen accessible to the guests, given the setup of the hotel, having access to a common cooking area would be an perk.
The value: Hotels in St. Lucia are expensive. The view: of the pitons and Soufierie bay Proximity to diamond falls, sulfur springs, etc...although taxis to get there are expensive. If you walk, you will get harangued by bums. You're better off renting a jeep. The neighborhood: Downtown Soufrierie is not pretty--it's like the bad parts of Philadelphia, and this hotel has bums right outside haranguing all of the tourists. The mosquitos and ants: just a few, but I don't like critters
The personal touch of all the staff. They were friendly and extremely helpful. As a single woman travelling alone the staff were very caring and i felt totally safe and comfortable during my stay. Extremely good value and I would not hesitate to recommend the Downtown Hotel to my friends / family and colleagues. My room was slightly noisy due to the catholic church bells accross the square, so maybe the doors could be more sound proofed however after one night and ear plugs this did not interfere with my sleep.
The staff are very helpful; the rooms are large and very clean; the ac worked well which was key at this point of my trip; the location was in central Soufriere. I had an overnight on St. Lucia and needed to go from one airport to the other. This was a beautiful part of the island. The location means you will be followed by panhandlers, sometime for blocks. The hotel is located on the third floor of a building requiring you to climb stairs to get to the lobby. If you've a lot of luggage this may be difficult. The rooms are a bit rough around the edges but generally ok. The road to get to Soufriere is winding and slow. It was an 1 1/2 hours from the airport in the north and about 1 hour to the airport in the south. The total taxi charge for the two rides was $180 (a bit higher than suggested in guide books).
The view. Amazing. The slum-lord type room. Peeling plaster, bathroom behind a curtain (not a door), bare light bulbs, door won't open more than a foot, no actual sheets on the bed, very noisy. Had to leave after one night. Don't understand the other favorable reviews.
Room was filthy and in complete disrepair. AC did not work at all. Hot water not working. Shower filled with what appeared to be black mold. Staff entirely unresponsive, just didn't care at all. Screens had many holes so insects continually in the room. Amazingly this was all for their higher category room. Scary to think what the other rooms must be like. We never write reviews, but felt obligated to warn people about this place -- worst hotel we've stayed at anywhere and we travel very frequently and expected nothing more than a reasonably clean room, working AC and a somewhat friendly staff. Positive reviews are why we tried this hotel, and we are beyond puzzled as to how anyone would give them more than one star.
