nothing price for food and alcohol was rediculous and no one seemed to speak english
Nice location next to the lake. Breakfast buffet was rich. Facilities were also good (swimming pool, spa center). Considering the region, this hotel is well above the standards. Some of the lobby furnitures are a little bit old. Wirless signal was not very strong from our room.
Sauna & Hamam included in the price
Wonderful setting on lakeshore, nice outdoor area with cushions, varied breakfast, spacy comfortable rooms and lobby. The pool is clean and not crowded as most guests seemed to be stopping overnight. No noise at all, very relaxing. The hotel stands right on the highway so rooms facing it are noisy. Our rooms were not air conditioned which was almost ok because the nights are chilly; however only one window in each room has a mosquito net so you don't really get enough air. With the fall of dusk, the air fills with little insects, they don't seem to bite but are a nuisance. All the tables in the outdoor cafe are littered with them. The lake smells of sulfur which is not the hotel's fault of course but be warned. Tea cost 2 lira per little cup.
On the shore of Lake Van and surrounded by rugged mountains, this is an hotel used by mainly by Turks for their holiday or business meetings or Kurdish weddings. There are some adventurous Europeans and coach groups of Americans or Japanese. Generally the hotel tries to be all things to all people and does not quite succeed. Use the Dolmus to go to Van or Akdamar. (just a few Lira) to experience the madness of Turkish roads. The swimming pool is good and clean and towels are provided if you ask and make yourself understood! The decor would be best described as "tired". There was no information about facilities or meal times anywhere. There is virtually no English spoken. Correct Turkish pronunciation is vital. There are rocks very near the surface of the lake at the end of the jetty. Extreme caution should used when entering the water. It's a major accident just waiting to happen.
The view of Lake Van. Breakfast by the pool. Quiet location. Coffee at breakfast was self service from a huge catering size tin of awful powder, and a carton of milk, not even poured into a jug. Not an International Hotel - no English spoken.
