Great quality. Rooms had a decent view, balcony area, and great showers! Customer service and checkin and check out line were painfully slow. Twenty minutes or more for each with only one or two customers and one representative each time.
The worse. I had a reservation for a double bed. Got there and was only one bed. Front desk lady didn't"t try to help.

The personal is excellent ,Francisco,Hermes ,Mariel at the restaurant,the cleaning ladies ,is amazing how a hotel with over 50 years still in very good shape with an excellent service The city of Santo Domingo is growing a lot around this hotel
Hotel with style, charm, professionality and a lot of history. Comparable to the Hotel Nacional in La Habana. I thoroughly recommend the hotel Occidental El Embajador. Active Hotels has proven to be an excellent and informative on-line booking service.

The patio and the room only. Hotel too old and they want to exhibit a class that they may have in the 50's but not on 2016.
Very convenient. Restaurant, bank and business center are in the hotel. Bilingual desk workers. I was double charged for my first night despite paying when I booked it online from Booking.com. I discovered the double billing after the fact (no signed receipt). I was also charged by the hotel for a taxi fare that I paid cash directly to the driver. Again, no signed receipt. They just do this stuff after the fact. I have an email pending with them but no response. I will be disputing these charges with my credit card company soon if no response is heard.
the staff was very professional and knowledgable, room service was impeccable. during my stay dominican moda(fashion) was been stay at the hotel which was rather exciting. my only complaint was the hotel restaurant that added the 26% tax which cause me to leave a tip until i eat at other establishments and discovered that the tip is included in the 26%. other places broke it down tax - 16% and the tip - 10%. its very misleading when the hotel restaurant combine both.

Nothing Terrible experience
After new owners took over the quality of everything went down I upgrade my room to have beach view, phone and fridge did not work at all, i went to reception they told me , maintenance people work only in the mornings, they never fixed, i left the second day, service is poor, infrastructure is poor, the pool had holes at the bottom
Nothing Room decor, food bad n not s lots of choices, nasty drinks power was loss twice over price i waste my money never going back and they should have someone driving guest around too much walking
nothing everything, the rooms are a shamble, nothing coppered to the picture they use to lure you in. The service is slow. The rooms are like a cheep short stay room. I would not even sit in the bed or shower in this discusting room. I refused to stay there and left.
I like the location and some staff. I have been at the hotel on other occasions, but unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel. It is not even half of what it use to be. The food is horrible, to the point that I got sick. Do not go there for your vacation, please, please.
The beach was nice. I don't know where to begin. I paid extra for a balcony room and didn't get one. My room was run down and gross. A window was broken, so it wouldn't close. The furniture was dirty, the phone didn't work and the bathroom had rust stains in the tub. I came with a friend who booked her room at the same time as I and got a much nicer room with a balcony. When I complained they insisted there were no other rooms available for me and didn't offer to compensate me in any way. All the restaurants except the buffet require you to make reservations which they only take between 7am-2pm. So since we arrived at 3 we couldn't eat at one of the restaurants and then when we did try to make one the next day they said they were all full. We only stayed for one night and I'm glad, there is no way I would want to spend my money on a week vacation here. Some staff members were very friendly, others didn't seem to want to be bothered. Overall, I would not recommend staying here. This place is in need of major updating.
I don't have many complaints about the stay. Many people complained about the bathrooms, mine was clean although it was old and the water pressure from the shower head was poor and needed to be replaced The rest of the room was clean the bed was tidy. The food was okay. I ate mostly at the buffet and the food in the trays was cold. The food in the snack bar was horrible. They serve burgers and hotdogs and i am not sure where do they get them from but they are disgusting. The liquor they serve you is some cheap liquor i have never heard before but the beer is Presidente and is tap. I drank the beer mostly. There is a lot of security which made me feel safe. I was not able to bring guest in. The hotel has a very strict policy on who can come in and that i was not too crazy about. I stayed there from the 16h to the 19th of October I liked it i would go back again. I was there for the beach and relax and i got it the only thing that i wish they could improve is the food in the buffet.

Location. Nice beachfront near airport Food was awful, service poor, no hot water. Internet extremely expensive and only valid on one aparatus. I stayed here as I was stuck in Santo Domingo due to weather and needed a place close to the airport. I changed to a different hotel after the first night.
The only thing I really liked was the pool and the spa, the hotel is nothing to brag about.....
Location on the beach and close to STI airport, $10 prepaid through Dominican Quest to get to resort. Very clean, great room with beach view, great food and incredibly nice, friendly and helpful staff. Liked everything.
The location and facilities were good. There were a handful of genuine employees in the dining areas. The majority of the staff have no concern for the clients comfort. Complaints are made and nothing improves. Cleaning staff were very loud in the mornings yelling through the halls but barely came to clean my room.
