The location & the food. Shower was a little small & a little dirty whereas my wife requested for it to be cleaned again.
Nicest room I've ever had in London - really spacious, stylish and completely sound-proofed. Nice restaurant with good choices and prices. Friendly staff. A couple of things not as per info when booking - luxury mini bar, contained 2 bottles of water - not what I was expecting; no iron - although brought to the room when asked for. A bit disappointed with pool area - much smaller than expected - so felt crowed with 10 people around it.
There was a tremendous amount of amenities. For what I paid to sleep I could have spent this on breakfast and coffee elsewhere. The breakfast included made to order omelettes a variety of juices, toast, cereal and fruit. All good quality. Also there was a commercial level coffee machine (americano, latte, espresso, hot cocoa, tea, and more) available all day. All of the staybwas incredibly welcoming friendly and helpful. The place had a great location with easy access to bus lines and the underground not too far by walking or bus, but I chose to walk many of the rtimes and it was easy to get to many of the major attractions by walking. A city bike rental was right out front next to the great view of the river. The security lockers were good quality along with good access control to the hostel area and bedrooms. Inside the 8 bed room was a clean toilet and two showers. I felt secure and was easily able to change and get ready for my meetings. The fellow travelers were all quite nice as well. The pub area was a great place to hang out complete with comfy couches, activities, awesome food (the Thai curry was wonderful!) and even a guitar for community use. The staff were very speedy, super friendly, super helpful, accommodating, And overall laid back back in attitude in a way that did not impact quality of service but contributed to the comfort level. I really truly recommend this placeif you have appropriate recommendations for a hostel. The facilities were clean, but this is an older building with some graceful sign of aging so don't expect a modern chic type of cleanliness. The beds were adequate for me to get a good sleep but more comfortable mattresses would have been lovely. They were still very appropriate for the price. Aside from this I really couldn't imagine what more one could want or expect from a hostel. I had stayed in one other in Playa del Carmen Mexico and while it was a nice place, I felt this one was far superior. I guess as a suggestion while the in room lockers were a good larger size and good security they were not able to accommodate full size suit cases (luggage) or garment bag width. I packed appropriately but being able to handle a larger size would have been nice if needed. There was room under the bed for this size if you wanted to use you luggage lock for security.
We recommend this hostel. It's clean and quiet, despite the pub on the ground-floor. The staff is nice, always ready to help you, and the environment is family-like. It's within a walking distance to some of the main historic buildings. A 20-30 minutes walk takes us to The Tate Gallery, The Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey.
