I like the continental breakfast. Not more parking space & there's no shortcut at the back if you happened to park at the very end of the parking lot! They should open the concrete fence on the shoreline side in case of emergency / tsunami. Residents can have an easy access to the back side to go back & forth to their car if they will open the concrete fence especially in case of emergency. Aloha!
Bar and beach was #LITFAM
Great pool, nice beach, live music every night, nice gas firepit, walking distance to many restaurants, cool vibe. We have stayed here twice ...this time we had only one small issue...the shower in our room would not maintain a constant temperature...from very cold to scalding.
Overall, it was adequate. It was quiet, comfortable, and i got some excellent rest. Floor in the bathroom wasnt swept which made me wonder what else was missed.
Close to beach, beach towel rental
Room was comfortable except for the wooden bed platforms that have sharp corners. Parking was terrible and minimal. Had to walk quite a bit to get to the room from parking lot. Not easy to find the main office.
Even with the renovations the hotel still held on to it's old time charm. The staff were accommodating, the bed was very comfortable and the handicapped bathroom was a super plus. Mahalo Breakfast was overpriced. Papaya wasn't ripe. Not enough butter and syrup to cover the very large pancakes, but the people working there were very helpful.
It is an ocean front property. It has 2 swimming pools. Lots of parking. Convenient location. Renovating, uncomfortable bed. No microwave in room.
The restaurant is really good, it's close to many locations, beach is walking distance, wristband electronic roomkey, check out is later than most hotels, Rooms need major remodel (very outdated), Parking lot is a terrible one-way to the main lobby, beach towels at front lobby only not in the rooms, they charge $15 a day for cleaning fees, our room had many small ants, trying to get back on the main highway can be irritating due to the construction near the hotel,
Just about everything. The person at the front desk who asked me "and who are we?", after asking for a beach towel. Very inappropriate dialogue for someone in the hospitality industry. Aside from this insulting experience, the stay was quite nice.
The comfort of the beds. The jackhammer outside our bedroom.
We liked to sit by the beach on the tables on the new restaurant.fridge toaster and microwave was provided and was great so we could have early breakfast and leave to hiking. The rest was basic don't expect fancy drill. The renovation is almost finish sonwe got lucky the new restaurant is going to change things big time
Wonderful hotel and amenities in a great location. A decent value if it weren't for the resort fee. Resort Fee... seemed a bit overkill for what you get. Unfortunately I feel like it is a way for the hotel to get more out of each nights rate. Breakfast buffet was a bit pricey too. Great food but I couldn't eat enough to make it a good value at $22/person.
Courtyard by Marriott Kauai at Coconut Beach was gorgeous and the staff was amazing. Card slot light did not light up when we unlock the hotel room door. Also, KAYAK dropped the ball in communication with the hotel. All the included items were not communicated to the hotel and we had to pay for it separately. For example, the 2 free mai tai's and free parking we were promised were never passed along by KAYAK.
The hotel is beautiful! We had a "garden view" room but from where it was we could see the ocean perfectly. Being able to sit on the lanai and watch the sunrise was great! The pool, hot tub, grounds are all very well kept! Staff is wonderful The parking fee per day - when paying the price for the room the parking should be FREE!
We needed a one night hotel near the airport to match our flight home. This hotel was a pleasant discovery for us for our first stay on the North side of the island. We now want to go back here. Nort shore waves were too high to get in the ocean but they were magnificent to watch!
Great location, very nice rooms, great front desk help and enjoyed the afternoon Mai Tais. We really liked how they offered coolers, chairs, and umbrellas to take to any beach you preferred...very handy. The rooms were very clean. It was in a perfect location for getting to other parts of the island, close to several key beaches, close to restaurants and stores, and decent parking. It was hard to spot the hotel and its sign from the road. Also, the halls smelled too much like the "beach" (but didn't impact our room). They don't have Fox Sports 1 channel which was a bit of a pain, but not a huge deal. Overall, a great choice.
The hotel is on a beautiful stretch of the coconut coast beach. The pool and grounds are nice and well kept. The staff makes this a great hotel. The bartenders and restaurant staff are always very friendly and helpful.
1. At least 3 and a half star hotel, good as advertised and reviews I researched from the web 2. Great location for exploring the island both north or south shore and near all supermarkets and places to eat 3. Available bicycle rental to explore the bike path along Kapaa beach 1. Swimming pool is small and when a lot of people in the pool, the water quality was a question. 2. The hotel sign is not big and clear from the main road, easily missed without GPS 3. If the hotel could waive parking fee, I would probably be happier
Beautiful location, wonderful ocean view, close to many restaurants, great staff. Nice pool area. Easy drive to several beaches, a bit longer drive to the north coast and to Waimea Canyon. Convenient to river kayaking, and Backcountry Adventures for tubing or zip lining. It's on a beautiful beach, but it wasn't swimable. The balcony was very small. The restaurant prices seemed high, even for Hawaii, so we didn't eat there.
Great ocean view rooms with nice furniture, linens and a mini fridge. Lots of activities to do each day and complimentary mai tais with the resort package. Keep an eye out for the monk seals who come up to rest right on the resort's beach!
It's on the coast. Wifi was worthless. Property shows its age.
No tv but it made it a nice escape View Everything No stove or microwave. Slow wifi
Cheap You get what you pay for
Works great for the budget traveller. No frills but plenty comfy. Bring ear plugs no matter where you stay on the island as the wild chickens are really loud.
The hotel was on beach. That was the only redeeming quality. There were too many things wrong to list them all. In short, this hotel has seen better days. If you are looking for a step above camping out this would be place for you.
checkin after hours was easy. Beds (twin only) were comfortable. Towels good. Quiet, except for waves lapping on the seashore. Clean. Inexpensive. Very worn and desperately needs updating. Ok for an overnighter; would not recommend for a longer stay!
ocean front, view of sunrise, good value. twin beds, prefer a king bed.
great view, front desk was great, however, there was hair on the bed, blankets were stained, carpet was stained bathroom not to bad, I did not feel comfortable to sleep.
The view is amazing. Price is very good. Updated bathroom in my room was a big plus. Rooms are clean but very old and worn out.
I was honestly really disappointed with our stay at Castle Mokihana. It was old and really dirty. My "clean bed" had someone's else's long hair in it and I also found a bug in it which was disgusting. There was no working air conditioning so that made the week we stayed there way too long. The Wi-Fi was terrible and there's no tv. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, it's not worth the money,
Greatest ocean view/sounds ever. Older remodeled building but clean. Wished we stayed here longe than a night! Headed up to Princeville where we prebooked our actual stay and was disappointed in our extended rental on the north shore. Two twin beds instead of queen!
Location and convenience Room air freshener was over powering and gave me a migraine.
It is a beautiful facility - clean and well maintained. I chose it because the beach right next to the pool and right up to the bar. The hotel is nice as it is split into separate buildings. We were given an upgrade to an ocean view room. Each room has it's own lanai. The lanais could be nicer - the old air conditioner unit on it was not so nice, and there was no thermostat in the room so we had to climb on top of the couch to turn it on and off.. Would be great if they had a continental breakfast or muffins or something and not just coffee (though it was great and I'm a coffee snob) in the morning.
Great hotel. Excellent location. Spend the extra money for an ocean view. Would stay here again definitely. Loved it!
Great value for the money, since they are all studio/hotel rooms, rooms are good for 1-2 people. Beach front and centrally located within walking distance to several restaurants a plus! Current construction makes for a disturbing experience during daily work hours.
The staff were very nice and helpful. Close to shopping center and restauraunts. Nice grounds with variety of rooms. Pool with bar and live music. Room had refridgerator, coffee maker, microwave, and dishes - enough for basic meals for breakfast etc. the balconies were nice and people were mostly friendly. I had a room with adjoining double doors. The doors allowed a lot of noise to pass through. I had extremely rude neighbors who kept the neighbors on all sides awake and security was called by other neighbors multiple times. I didn't get the impression that this was the norm for this hotel. I've stayed here before and not had any other problems. Multiple days of this trouble did however make my trip less than relaxing.
Cleanliness of buildings and the yard as well as rooms. Pool-side bar. There isn't enough parking for all of the guest units - finding parking was always frustrating when returning to the resort at night. The reservation I made through kayak was somewhat misleading because I purchased the ocean view room (as opposed to the partial ocean view room) assuming that it would be a unit on the ocean front but I guess there was another category that wasn't listed at the time. I thought I was getting an ocean front room but got a room that I would consider more of a partial ocean view - looking onto the pool instead. There was an additional almost $20 daily resort fee that included wifi and a few other things but seemed to be an outrageous additional cost.
Great location next to the ocean.
This guest did not leave comments about this hotel.
nice location. nice place. nice people! I needed too stay longer!!
Very clean. Great location. Room furnishings were hit and miss. In-room safe barely worked. One electrical outlet falling out of the wall.
It is right on the coast and convenient for walking around and exploring Kapa'a The staff, especially George, was very friendly and helpful and made a number of good suggestions for local restaurants and places to visit. The 'wiki' breakfast really wasn't much at all, especially if you got there after 8 a.m., despite being available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. We learned to eat breakfast across the street at the Hemingway Café.
charming room, lanai straight on the beach, small breakfast, free parking, good location for visiting Kaua'i. arrived too early for check in (noon) - only get the room at this time when paying USD---- that's rip-off!
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I was a little dissatisfied with the housekeeping. I had to ask them to vacuum- they did not do it automatically. Also, it was apparent that all they did was replace towels, remove garbage, and make the bed.
Fabulous value for the cost. Smack dab on the beach!
Location on the Beach. Resort Grounds and Rooms Very Nice.
I loved the staff, and how spacious and comfortable the rooms were! I liked everything about this hotel, well priced, close to shopping!
We like our 1-br condo suit that offers a pull-out sofa bed, a well-equipped kitchen, and even a washer and dryer. Our room was cleaned and our beds were made everyday, The location was perfect to travel to any side of Kauai easily becayse the freeway is right in the front of the resort. It is also near Safeway, Foodland, and many restaurants.
I liked how friendly all the staff members I encountered were. Everyone seemed truly happy to work there. The condition of the room and hallways. So many conditional and cleanliness issues. I mean come on color Xerox room service menu? When it was the Hilton it was a lot better.
The pool area and hotel set-up is very nice. The pool area is big enough to accommodate the hotel occupants so the area never seemed crowded. There were always enough pool chairs for anyone who wanted them. Our room had 2 pills and a bottle cap on the floor from previous occupants. The carpet edges next to the walls in our room were dirty also.
Very friendly staff
Location, pool area, friendly staff Mandatory "resort fee" of $20/night felt like a rip off. Otherwise, everyone was very welcoming and kind. Location is perfect.
We loved the multiple pools, clean environment, on site restaurants and friendly staff. We would definitely return. The location on the island is excellent too as you are close to multiple towns and equally spaced from the north and west beaches Only issue we ran into was the hot water ran out a few times shortly after beginning a shower. Maybe there was a family of 10 next door, not sure. Otherwise, there were no real complaints!
I spent a very relaxing overnight at this hotel. Whenever I go to Kauai for an overnight trip, I like to stay here. I am treated very well by the staff. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable. I wasn't able to get 2 beds.
We absolutely loved our stay here. The staff were very nice the grounds are completely beautiful and the pools are the nicest we've seen anywhere!
We loved being able to watch the whales from the beach in front of the resort.
Food and drinks were good. The room itself was comfortable and the staff were very friendly. It was convenient to the airport if you have an early flight. The beach was not very nice; no room to lay out or go in the ocean. There wasn't even enough beach to walk on. The pool towels were too small. The wifi did not work well at all. Overall it did not have the Hawaiian vibe we found on the rest of the island.
Pool Staff dining Conceire Location Not electronic friendly rooms (plugs/USB) Parents not supervising their children around pool and grounds
So many pool options Non swimable oceanfront
I liked the free shuttle to and from the airport. There's also a free shuttle from the resort to a shopping center in Lihue. It was helpful to go to the grocery store there and get snacks instead of solely relying on Resort food, which was good but it gets pricey. The property was big and not overly crowded. It was my first time on the Island (February 2016) so I don't know if crowds change during the rest of the year. The staff was friendly and helpful anytime I had requests/questions. You absolutely need a car unless you plan to spend the entire time lounging at the resort. I did manage to walk along the beach heading North to Lydgate Park. From there I was able to hike even further North to Kapaa and the Kauai Eastern trail. I absolutely did not mind the walk but it is a looong walk (more than 10 miles). Also, there were a lot of hotel taxes. Not sure how their prices compare to other areas of the island, but I'd look elsewhere when I visit Kauai again. I didn't have a car but there where even more taxes for every night of having a car.
We were thrilled to stay put at the Marriott Resort then take day trips throughout the island. Whatever we needed was provided. Convenience was key, access the same. We'll do this again. Such a great resort but it is looking a little shop worn in places. But, that comes with popularity and use.
Room 1190 and the staff. The shower head was low. I,m 6'4" :)
Amazing grounds, and wonderful staff. You'll love the pool and beach. The on-site restaurants were delicious. Plus, when we mentioned it was our honeymoon, they upgraded our room and even provided a complimentary bottle of bubbly.
Great location and friendly staff Resort fee - we were there during hurricane and could not use all aspects - but still had to aay resort fee
Pool was great. Too many young children.
-Close to Airport -Clean -Friendly Staff -Huge pool kids love -Located next to Dukes -Overall a great choice I've stayed her several times and I'll do it again Nothing
Great facility, pool features etc. Clean but cockroaches in room, and the bell service (guys parking cars) were actually quite rude to my husband actually... Were kind of surprised at this.... But they were fine when we left.
The pool is amazing! You can't beat it. The hotel is right next to the beach and the rooms are very clean, fresh, and comfortable. No musty smell like another place we stayed at. We loved everything here and we were sad to leave! Leaving!
staff was helpful and friendly nothing
Staff was friendly, overall location is convenient to Kapaa, but very close to the main road. Large unit with kitchen and comfortable living room and large bedroom. Location is very close to the main road, and you have to run the AC to drown out the road noise. No way to keep the windows open at night due to road noise. Kitchen is fully stocked, but appliances are old. Shower/Tub is pretty dated.
Clean, comfortable suite in a good location. Close to restaurants and grocery stores. Excellent Wi-Fi and new TVs. This isn't a 5 star stay, but if you are looking for something clean and comfortable this is your place. We received fresh towels and garbage service daily. Staff was very friendly. Lots of parking available for your vehicle. An older building, not completed renovated. Our stove looked like it was from the 70s, but everything worked fine. Our unit was located on the second floor which only had access by stairs. These stairs may be troublesome for older travellers. Our A/C was quite noisy so we turned it off at night.
Easily accessible. Ample parking. Comfortable and quiet Ice machine only located in one area.
Stay there last year When it was Aston owned, now it's a Hilton and renovated it's went from 2** to a 4**** .. Rooms are way nicer and clean .. The room I had, had a fly problem .. First night had at least 20 flies called front desk in the morning came back that night but still had a bunch of flies still flying around .. Other then that the stay at the Hilton garden in was good .. I'd go back !.!
Rooms were clean, nice view, close to the beach. Beach towels and free bike rentals were a nice perk. Staff at the front desk was not always the most helpful when it came to answering questions about the nearby area. The concierge however was able to do so most of the time.
The staff were wonderful. We have stayed at your location before and this time we were booked in an ADA room. I was really really upset that our bath tub was not as it was before. No other rooms were available but I was really looking forward to the tub in the rooms we had previously stayed in.
Booked the resort because we were staying extra days after staying at a condo nearby. I thought it would just be like any other hotel. I was really surprised at how awesome the whole place was. No microwave in the room. Would of been nice to reheat left overs from all the places we ate at.
Location, beautiful island We were tricked into a room with a Murphy bed. Super uncomfortable. Also"ocean view" room was a view of a wall
I like our ocean view room, but because it was literally right next to the elevator it was classified as the garden room to offset any noises from the elevator. However, we did not hear any noises even though we are light sleepers. The room was clean, unlimited towels was nice. The calm ocean beach front was excellent, as well as the amazing pool which was opened until 10 pm! The bar was nice too! The king crab buffet was ok for $53, we enjoyed it. Best it was centrally located to both north, south , east and west of island. I had an amazing stay and did not want to leave. I wish the bar and pool Would open until 11or midnight. The room Services sucks, really expensive for the food you get. Definitely not worth the money. We ordered peppercorn steak $40 and roasted vegetable salad $15? , and porguese soup, all was below average. I hope it was because its 10 pm at night that's why food service was awful, but what's the point of room service if the food is gross regardless of time ordered.
Room was very clean. Decor was dated and rooms are showing their age, but everything was in working order.
Mid point from all the attractions. Outdated decor and roosters crowing at all times of day. The coffee and complimentary breakfast/snacks weren't on time at the stated 7:30am
Very unique, quaint hotel. Clean room, very friendly staff. It was nice that there were washers/dryers on site for laundry Slightly off the beaten path, if you care about that (I don't). A/C unit was very loud. I had to shut it off, because it kept waking me up
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were spacious and clean. Will stay there again
The room was large and exceptionally clean. Enjoyed the private verandah off our room with beautiful plantings creating privacy. Lovely pool area and continental breakfast. Staff were very attentive and because our room was ready, they were kind enough to let us in much earlier. They have SPECIAL SPECIAL rates for all of Kauau's activities. You'll enjoy this boutique hotel. We'll certainly be back. Towels for pool were too small and worn. Fluffy towels are good.
Low key relaxed setting in lush gardens. This old style Kauai hotel has air conditioning, large flat screen TV, good shower, local pets to entertain you, continental breakfast and very accommodating staff. We stayed for one night but could have stayed longer.
Beautiful, quiet surroundings, friendly staff. Need a car to get places
Room was nicely appointed with comfortable bed. Parking was very convenient and the young man who checked us in was very nice. AC was so loud that it was impossible to get a good night sleep, even the neighbors AC could be heard in our room. A little better cleaning wouldn't hurt either. My wife dropped an earring and found quite a bit of dust and a sock under the bed.
We liked the location to the beach, and the value for the room. There are restaurants and shopping nearby. It took a long time to get luke warm water for the shower, the rooms are small, but you can't beat the value of the rooms.
Paintings, welcoming staff, sweet potato pie breakfast, gardens Close to road and was occasionally noisy
looks great from the outside, but... rooms in desperate need for a renovation/upgrade to modern standards. not exactly the tidiest hotel with cockroaches in room. usd 75 way too expensive for such a hotel, usd 40 would be more appropriate. location is not that close to Lihue Airport as described, in fact you need a car/cab (USD 20) to get there. never again.
Proximity to everything. People were nice. Bed was fairly comfortable. They had coffee in the morning. The landscaping was very well kept up with. The back side of the building wasn't very impressive and that is what you see when you drive up. The room was small. Other than that, everything was fine. Parking was a little tight but still sufficient.
It was so convenient; being in a excellent location. It was very clean and had modest physical replacements to a older quaint hotel. It I is nice to wake up with freshly made coffee in the lobby. Convenient parking. Quiet location for a good nights rest. Great price for modest hotel. Considerate staff
Stayed at this hotel for 5nights,very nice and pleasant place, would need a car to get around really, staff were very good and helpfull, would definetely recommend this hotel for cheaper version of holidays
It was off the main roads and quiet. Coffee in room good for early departures. Refrig didn't work, so had to change room. Had to get more towels.
The hotel offers excellent services! The location area is ugly but strategic.
The staff were very friendly and room service was available when requested. The price was pretty great as well. A good hotel for someone staying for a few days. There was an ant problem in the bathroom, mold on the bathroom ceiling, and my floors appeared as though they haven't been swept in a while. It would have been nice to have breakfast available too.
I liked how quiet it was for the overall stay. I had to wait till 3pm to check in when I stated I would be there before noon.
