I submitted a report for this hotel under Hotel Kea by mistake. The Hotel Kea in Akuyreri was very good. Nice rooms, excellent breakfast and friendly staff. The Fosshotel Husavik was totally opposite. The staff were unfriendly, hotel was locked and bolted when we arrived at lunchtime and when we phoned a number we were told to return in a few hours. We returned about 5.00pm and again it was locked. After another phone call the chef arrived and showed us round. There are two types of rooms, in the original building the rooms are small and shabby. In the new wing the rooms are very nice but note there is no lift so difficult for an elderly person to carry a suitcase upstairs and you have to walk outside to get to breakfast, not fun in Iceland See above! But basically rude unfriendly staff, (except the chef!), original rooms need modernising and redecorating and no lift! Breakfast was very basic
The room was small, but clean and comfortable. The whale themed design was different than any other hotel I've ever stayed at, which was a nice break. The room had the biggest shower of all the hotels in Iceland I stayed in. They recently started charging for wireless internet and were having problems with it. We never got it to work during our two night stay, which was aggravating.
The rooms were very spacious and comfortable and the hotel was in a good location for the town. The staff were very friendly. The rooms did not have direct access to reception or the restaurant within the building which meant going outside each time (freezing cold and sometimes snowing).
Clean, nicely appointed room with accomodating staff. Good breakfast
Good clean comfortable and quiet accomodation with friendly staff Have to walk through the snow between bedroom and breakfast room
Pretty good by iceland standards. Roomier than most. Nice linens. Above average
The pillow is really not comfortable.
Good location in Husavik with all its Whale Watching Tours and also good for making trips to Mývatn. Breakfast was okay. We had to pay 190 € (the standard rate) for the first night and then 100 € for the other. This rate of 145 € per night is much to high for this hotel. The rooms are not larger than the average, we had only 2 single beds and the interior looks to be originally from the 70s. The carpet on the corridors had e.g. already holes and there was a nasty smell in the corridor of our floor. There were many small things that were no okay like a shower curtain that was too short or missing covers over the power outlets. In our opinion, this hotel is not worth more than 80 € per night and therefore is more than double overpriced with its standard rate. For its discount rate, it is acceptable because of its location.
The place where the hotel is situated. The views, and the breakfast. There's no lift and the waater smells terribly.
very nice staff
i would really like to have had internet available to me during the stay. i bought the package but it would only work n the common areas.
Nice landscape, comfortable room and facilities, tasty food. Convenient location for activities in Husavik - Myvatn - Akureyri region. The location of the hotel (~50 km from Husavik) was not clearly given, so it was difficult to find at the first time.
Good location, friendly staff
Excellent location, nice view, got even a better category than booked
typical Edda Hotel; simple but very comfotable rooms, very friendly staff; very reasonable prices
very nice hotel in a beautiful surrounding. hotel has a 32°C swimming pool and a 40°C hot tub. perfect for familiey with small children because of the indoor playing facilities. breakfast and dinner were good. shower was not so great, everything got wet.
Rooms are very spacious. They have a pool and hot tub. They have a playground for kids. Great for families. Free internet. Rooms are dorm rooms and very utilitarian. We did not sleep well because there was no noise dampening by the walls. We could hear everyone that walked by our room and they spoke loudly. The lobby/lounge was nearby and we could hear anyone who was at the computer checking their email. The dining room was next to our room as well and we could hear the staff cleaning up after dinner well into the night.
good location to make tours in the area, clean, good standars, young and friendly staff the breakfast was not included in the rate. the hotel should have free wifi access for guests bringing their own laptop. the hotel address says Husavik but actually it lies 50 km from that city, it could be deceitful for some people.
