Hotel Laranjeira

Good value for money and very nice staff

You can listen to other noisy guests in your room... if they wake up early...

The hotel is very central with good private car parking. The staff are lovely. As soon as we arrived, Eduardo came out to the car park and carried most of our luggage into the hotel. He was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, as were the rest of the staff. The older lady in the breakfast room was so sweet and kind. The breakfast was very good, with tea/coffee brought to the table. We got the funicular railway up to the cathedral. The views were wonderful plus there was a wedding taking place. The ferry to the beach was quite quick and it was lovely there. There was a good cafe. It was a nice town with lots of good places to eat. The architecture is great and for a seaside town, it is pretty much unspoiled.

Storage space was a little limited in the hotel but we managed fine. We got ripped off at one restaurant in the town. It was on a street just off the main corniche. It had very distinctive table linen/crockery - all blue and white. We were given a generous plate of "amuses bouche" which we hadn't ordered and they slapped EUR9 on the bill for it. You lives and learns!
