Ruzzini Palace Hotel

Staff service was poor at beeakfast. Staff has hidden from us the fact that the water taxi to Murano was for free.

The location is amazing. It’s perfect for exploring Venice at its heart. Breakfast is quite good as well.

Our room was literally a door right beside the counter to check in that we thought was a closet. To enter and exit we had to walk within a foot of the concierge every time we exited the room. It was an incredibly awkward space, on top of knowing any noise we made would most likely be heard not only by the concierge but also any guests in the lobby. It was, as far as I know, the only room in the hotel on the main floor, and should have been marked as such when booking the room. I would have never booked that room had I known what it was. On top of that, the room itself in no way resembled any photos online nor did it feel like a 4 star hotel in the least. If you’d told me it was a 2 star, I’d say that was stretching it even. The staff is not friendly to tourists. We asked for some information and were greeted with groans. One man at the counter even flat out lied, tried telling us it would 72 euros to get a water taxi to take us to the train station when you can literally get a day pass for 25 euros. Had we not been through the water taxi journey the day prior, we could’ve easily been scammed. We also got yelled at for trying to leave the hotel with our key, even though we’d done it prior many times. Somehow they didn’t tell us this information. Be warned the hotel also locks its doors after a certain time, so you can’t even get back into the property without ringing a buzzer and hoping the concierge lets you back in. I’d definitely not stay here again, and wish we hadn’t. It out a damper on what could’ve been a much more enjoyable time in Venice.
