The location was perfect--step out back for great snorkeling, walk 15 minutes north to Cenote Yal-Ku, walk 15 minutes south to the village. Great large unit (3BR/3BA) with two hammocks on the balcony that the kids fought over. Located in a nice quiet spot in a mellow village.
Not the hotels fault, but the sargassum was smelly--diminished the benefit of having sea breezes flow through the unit when the door was open. All tile floors occasionally made for noisy neighbors. Despite those, we'd stay here again.

The location was great on the beach, although the beach was full of seaweed and rocky. Not exactly appropriate for swimming right out the front door as expected.
The room was fairly small and modest. There was a coffeemaker but no coffee in the room so we couldn't use it. The AC wasn't especially cold, but luckily there was a fan as well which we needed to have on all the time. None of the amenities were described to us on check-in. Bikes and snorkel gear were extremely expensive to rent from the hotel. The pool was 500m from the hotel and very small and noisy due to its location between the road and a restaurant. Staying at a beach hotel in Akumal didn't give us access to Akumal beach (100 pesos per day!!)
