Fordeler: A very uniqe place with beautiful surounding! A huge room with style and character. Clean room and helpfull staff. Big and beautiful garden with a little river beside it. Great breakfast.

Fordeler: Characterful rural property with a beautiful garden. Room was cool and dark due to its position under a verandah. E xcellent breakfast. Friendly owner

Ulemper: Due to the age and nature of the property there was a musty smell. Very noisy creaking floor above us and plumbing above noisy too!

Fordeler: The Quinta was a pleasant place to stay, a comfortable room with traditional furniture and good bedlinen and a new bathroom, It has rather strange surroundings but an attractive garden with a good pool and a nice country view. The owners are friendly. Breakfast is standard fare. We found restaurant im Lousa 'To dos Frangos' to be extraordinarily good value, massive portions very cheaply, beware the is a Locals section which is fun and a normal restaurant. 'Vilha' not quite so cheap but the delicious pork shin could easily have fed three!

Ulemper: The disadvantages are that, after a long tiring journey it was very difficult to find using GPS and the nearest restaurants are over three miles away in Lousa. The hot water supply is temperamental despite the fact we were the only guests. Wifi coverage is poor.

Fordeler: The staff very helpful and respectful

Ulemper: The farm is very small and dos not have restaurant for diner or lunch.

Fordeler: Great room, silence, great garden en pool, very nice breakfast and tasteful dinners. Perfect place to come to rest.

Ulemper: I was travelling by public transport, than the location is a bit outside but still manageable if you use taxis. For 2 dinners, 1 lunchbox and 1 clothing washing I paid 60 euros what is a bit high to Portugese norms.

Fordeler: This place is set in farmland on the outskirts of Lousa and has great rustic charm. It is a good base for exploring the local area and is a very comfortable, quiet and relaxing place to stay. This is probably mostly to do with the philosophy expressed by Filipe (the son of the owners who met us on arrival): 'when you come through our gates you are at home'. Guests are genuinely trusted and encouraged to treat the property as their home. All the rooms are decorated with an individual theme, are comfortable and immaculately clean. The grounds are lovely with lots of places to sit quietly or to socialise with others. The pool is good for a cool off after a long day. Breakfast is simple but fresh and tasty. We also had dinner on one of our nights stay, enjoying fresh local cuisine and the company of some fellow guests. Highly recommended.

Fordeler: Very well decorated room.

Fordeler: Staff very friendly and helpful. Pool area really relaxing. Liked the animals around us. The bar facilities really good and well priced. We enjoyed our balcony area.

Ulemper: The room was large and spacious but being over the garage there was at times a smell of petrol.

Fordeler: Unique, lovely history, great staff, great food, a perfect stay.

Fordeler: Staff were exceptional. Suite was thoroughly and thoughtfully appointed. Dinner was sublime.

Ulemper: There was nothing objectionable.

Fordeler: The gardens are very beautiful and the staff is very helpful and kind. The rooms have a lot of space and the bed is huge. The breakfast is amazing!

Ulemper: The Spa is a bit poor, compared with other places with the same number of starts. It was good to have a better hottub and a more diverse water treatments like a better water circuit with better water jets.

Fordeler: The natural beauty. Simplicity, comfort and character

Ulemper: The colours of the corridor's carpet: too strong and an odd pattern.

Fordeler: Nice old house. Very friendly staff. Comfortable beds. Our family room was in the attic and only had a small window near ceiling for ventilation ( also had air conditioning so was comfortable) Separate bathroom down corridor had a fantastic view! Breakfast was very good.

Ulemper: There was no free parking on site as indicated on the website. Staff advised us where we could find free parking- had to drive a short distance to find it.

Fordeler: It's lookmore like a hotel than a hostel and I loved the breakfast. They are near a place called Los 100 montaditos, is really good and cheap if you don't want to spend too much.

Ulemper: They didn't have free parking

Fordeler: The breakfast was very nice!

Ulemper: We would have liked a room with view. We did not realize this when booking that the room only had a ceiling window. The room had an exterior bathroom, which required a key to open and close from the inside. This was a bit difficult, as the key mechanism was not the easiest and with two children.

Fordeler: The location was great, a bit outside of the center but with a beautiful view and 15min walking distance to most main attractions. The room was light, spacious and clean. Simple but very pleasant.

Ulemper: The coffee at breakfast was very bad - instant coffee from a machine. Too bad, as breakfast itself was nice,

Fordeler: + Stylish old house transformed into a hostel/hotel + our room was bright, with lots of windows + the bathroom was very spacious + good breakfast + a bit outside the old town, but still walking distance to all the main sights

Ulemper: - noise isolation was quite poor, so bring earplugs with you in case you are sensitive, as you will hear all the cars passing by on the street - parking is only available on the street and on weekdays you have to pay for it

Fordeler: Great breakfast, clean facilities, cozy areas, excellent location to sightsee and great staff

Fordeler: Lockers, private lamp and socket at every bed. Tasty breakfast included. Nice design of the common space. In general the building is looks great, it’s an old villa.

Ulemper: - location. I didn’t check it well and it’s quite some walk from the bus station/ city center - They could have put some curtains at each bed to add more privacy (as each bed has a frame so it wouldn’t be much work).

Fordeler: Awesome breakfast included, nice bed and rooms. Everything was extremely clean and functioning

Ulemper: Staff was not very friendly and there was no atmosphere whatsoever

Ulemper: Great location. Convenient to have breakfast included.

Fordeler: Front desk staff were very helpful and sociable, and did not fuss when we waited for our afternoon train in the lobby well after check-out time. Location is perfect, close to station but quiet, and just at the edge of the historic district. Lovely high-ceilinged room, was end of hallway so windows on two sides for a refreshing breeze. Breakfast was good, standard continental fare, nothing exceptional.

Ulemper: Big row to check-in. The only leisure activity is the indoor pool and Vila Galé does not provide a bathrobe even if you are willling to pay for that.

Fordeler: One of the best hotels I had been, the breakfast was amazing, the staff are volunteers to help me in every time I need; I will book it a again and again and I recommend it.

Ulemper: Everything was great

Fordeler: I loved the staff. They were incredibly helpful and knowledgable about the area. The location is fabulous. A short walk to all the hot spots. I thought the room was clean and nice. It was quiet on our street.

Ulemper: My one problem with the place was that the walls seemed thin between the rooms. We heard our neighbor watching tv until about 4am. I managed to sleep through most of it but my wife was kept up.

Fordeler: Staff was very nice. Food was good but it it hard to find bad portugueses food.

Ulemper: Garage is terrible, dark, unsafe and lacks ventilation. Had a CO alarm while there and it was scare. Very bad engineering. One needs to manouver on the top of the exit ramp to get out. Location is very bad on a really rundown area of the city. Quite depressing. Rooms had very ugly. Carpet is ugly, dated and filthy. One has tô wheat sandals. Dryer was bad. TV was really bad as far as image quality. Beds and pillows were really bad. All furniture was of bad quality. Internet was ridículos. Scratchy signal and when working (very seldon) was worse than the dial up of the old times. And staff had no idea or solution. Once they suggested me to walk around my room to improve the signal. I ha 2 iPads and 2 two iPhones and some times no one could get a signal. the sad part is that this one is supposed to be the best hotel in Coimbra. I guess I will never visit coimbra again.

Fordeler: The hotel is modern and nice

Ulemper: They didn't have parking, I didn't have a place to park and it was heavily raining, I . They have parking for 8 Euro per night .

Fordeler: Pool was perfect, enjoyed playing ping pong, there is also some gym equipment. Location is ideal to either easily walk into town or walk to the beautiful park in the other direction. Great for people who love to go running in the morning. Easy walk to either of the two train stations as well. Super comfortable bed!!!!

Ulemper: Breakfast buffet was a bit basic, but overall ok.

Fordeler: The food at the restaurant was horrible. They should serve real portuguese dishes . Gourmet dishes should be avoide. A true disaster . Good hotel terrible and expensive restaurate

Fordeler: Very friendly and helpful staff. Every effort was taken to make us feel happy and comfortable during our stay. Excellent breakfast served in the morning. It is a charming hotel in a business district.

Fordeler: Near the bus station. Easy to get in and out All the staff were very helpful. Room was great. Has a swimming pool.

Ulemper: A little far from center of town . 15 minute walk. Some of the younger staff at the reception desk need a little more training in how to get around the city.

Fordeler: Location to city. The staff were excellent and very helpful.

Ulemper: The room was okay, but tired and needed refreshing. Not as clean as I would like.

Fordeler: Location good, room and bathroom compact but adequate for one night stay. However, we didn't sleep well due to noise until 2am made by staff, I presume, moving furniture... Be prepared to carry your luggage some distance as parking is on-street.

Ulemper: Noise downstairs someone dragging furniture until 2am. We heard it from the top floor. Inconsiderate... No parking, we had to park on the street distance away.

Fordeler: The location of the hotel is excellent and at walking distance to major attractions in the historical center. The staff were helpful and very kind, no objection at all. Decent breakfast. WiFi connection and speed adequate. Airconditioning worked as it should. There are a couple of (cheap) restaurants on the same street right next door.

Ulemper: Breakfast was decent, but really nothing to write home about (few choices coupled to zero day-to-dayvariety), and they haven't heard of having salt&pepper available anywhere (this actually seemed to be endemic to all Portugal eateries that I have visited, rally strange). The room I was staying in was tiny. As a consequence: barely adequately big bathroom with minuscule sink. No wardrobe, no desk, no chair. therefore if you need to work, you have to do it on the bed! There was only one power outlet in the room beside the two for bed lights. No safe box or refrigerator in the room either. Since I was alone and stayed only for 4 nights it was OK, but for a couple staying in this double-bed room it would be crowded and if you need to do any serious amount of work - look elsewhere.

Fordeler: The location was walking distance to the historical sites and there is a bus stop in front which goes to Coimbra University. Cloae to parking areas and restaurants in safe area.

Ulemper: Nothing

Fordeler: Very large rooms, extremely clean and very comfortable, staff was professional and helpful, breakfast had a reasonably large choice, wifi worked well, they have both stairs and elevators. There are at least 2 nice restaurants around and Coimbra-B train station is not far. Price is good given the quality. I will most certainly chose that hotel on my next business trip to Coimbra

Ulemper: No major issue, it is even hard pointing out minor issues. There was noise down the street at 22h30 once, maybe street cleaners, a bit surprising but room was quiet otherwise. It might not be the most central hotel but then again I have no comparison point.

Fordeler: It's fantastic

Fordeler: It's a beautiful modern hotel near the city centre. The rooms are spacious and clean, with all the necessary amenities for a pleasant stay. It is walking distance from places of interest and good restaurants. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Ulemper: Everything was good.

Fordeler: Really good location just a short walk from the prominent sights of Coimbra. Room was clean, modern well presented and had a very handsome view looking out at the university (particularly good at night). Staff were, friendly, helpful and readily available. And this came at a very affordable price. Would certainly recommend to others and when back in Coimbra again I will be booking to stay here.

Fordeler: This is a basic but well managed and located hotel. Staff are friendly and very helpful (gentleman covering the night shift underestimates his ability to converse in English while the daytime staff person is fluent) and it is a short walk (lots of it uphill, mind you) to the Universidade and the Sé. It is situated very close by the Coimbra A train station (note that trains to Porto and Lisbon go from B, a short taxi ride from the centre). The entrance is on a pedestrian street but they provide free parking at a lot close but we were able to park overnight on the street nearby.

Fordeler: Very good for the price and the staff was super friendly and helpful. 100% satisfied!

Ulemper: I thought breakfast was included, well it wasn't and I was charged 5€ for coffee, roll and a yogurt. Not worth it.

Fordeler: Friendly and helpful staff, clean room and perfect location

Fordeler: The property was good value for money. The highlight was Caterina who was wonderful and helpful. she advised the highlights where to visit where to dine and everything was spot on. The most helpful person ever to give us information at any hotel in the world.

Ulemper: The feather pillows were too flat. A second pillow would be great!

Fordeler: The breakfast was ok, the bread could be more of the healthy sort. We agree with many of the plus and minus mentioned by other travellers.

Ulemper: We had asked for the free bikes about a month in advance,- and I have checked that booking.com did forward the request. Despite that the hotel did not take any notice. Furthermore they extended automatically the days other people borrowed the bikes, although we were waiting. They could have told the people that we had come in between. That was not a correct thing to do. They also told us that there was nowhere to rent a bike in Coimbra. There are at least 5 different places, one 100 meter from the hotel. Please make a place for the toilet paper in the bathroom.

Fordeler: The location is perfect, 3 minutes to train station and 10 mins climb to University (at a brisk pace). Catalina (sorry if I got that wrong) the owner is awesome and gave the best tips and places to eat. The balcony was a nice surprise!

Ulemper: The corridor on the third floor is quite hollow so sound carries. From room 37 which is close to elevator one can really hear pax coming in and out of elevator/rooms but nothing earplugs can't solve. Washroom a bit dated compared to rest of the room but I am not sure if they are in the middle of slowly renovating rooms as noticed my door and key (mine was a skeleton key) was older compared to the majority of the other rooms.

Fordeler: Easy check in. Rooms are basic but for the night we stayed it was perfect.

Fordeler: Very clean place, everything well organized, very quiet zone at night time. I definitely recommend this place to any one. I love it.

Fordeler: Linens were fantastic - especially the towels. Staff friendly and helpful. Quiet place.

Ulemper: A little far (and uphill on the way back) from attractions.

Fordeler: The rooms are well equipped and the hostel itself is nice in terms of facilities and what it offers. Wifi is so basic though that it not working forced me to lower my rating for the facilities. It was generally pretty clean though

Ulemper: A lot actually, the self check in system meant we never got to encounter a single staff member till by accident we entered the kitched in the morning before checking out. The wifi didnt work at all, the ned was uncomfortable, the entire place was pretty much a ghost town, and granted we did arrive around 10, we still didnt see a single person in the morning. The whole experience was subpar at best, and honestly there were better options in the area, we chose this to take a break from airbnbs and get a more social experience, which we did not.

Fordeler: Room had everything what was needed, it was clean and the price was reasonable. I enjoyed staying in this place.

Ulemper: Place is located a bit far away from the city centre but I enjoyed walking so it wasn't a big deal to me.

Fordeler: Friendly place. Good car parking.

Fordeler: Be prepared to get the full residence hall vibe! Entering the accommodation was pretty easy, just call the staff (phone number on the door) and they will open the door for you. Also you‘ll receive an email with alle the information about check-in, wifi, etc.. wich also means you can do the check-in at any time. The rooms are small and simple but clean and cozy, you‘ll find everything you need, even had my own bathroom en suite. I arrived with a car and was allowed to park it on the courtyard, wich is a big plus, but parking on the street around the hostel is also free. Location wise, you‘ll make your way to the university and the botanic gardens in just a few minutes by walking down the hill. Enjoyed staying there, would recommend especially for young backpackers/travelers.

Ulemper: The kitchen is used by a lot of people, mainly students, so don’t expect it to be as clean as your kitchen at home, but for preparing your breakfast it’s all fine As i said, there are a lot of young people/students living there, so be prepared to hear them talking and laughing till late at night

Fordeler: Perfect location for anyone who travelling by bus or train. Breakfast was very good. The staff was absolutly helpful and kind.

Ulemper: There should have been more socket in the room, I could find any free one to charge my phone or laptop.

Fordeler: Simple breakfast OK for €4 Location excellent: Minutes walking distance from railway station, Baixa (downtown) shops and restaurants. The university area is also about a 10 mins. walk. The room was clean with enough space to move around. Bathroom clean and great shower. Good WiFi.

Ulemper: Room was not tidied up after 1st night stay despite the hanger on the door. Only Portuguese channels on the TV.

Fordeler: Quite good hotel for a 1 nigh stay. With a plane design, but rather comfortable and clean. Single room was quite a small one, but that was enough for me. Breakfast was ok.

Fordeler: The breakfast was simple but there was some choice. Location is close to the railway station Coimbra A (not to be confused with Coimbra B). Quiet.

Ulemper: Hard to have an early breakfast as the employee on duty (who also handles the keys) should get up and prepare (or find) something.

Fordeler: Near train station.

Ulemper: Breakfast was dull.

Fordeler: It's an old 2* hotel so that creates atmosphere and character which we really liked. And the young women running the hotel are charming and keen to assist. It is also really well located a short 15 min walk from the railway station and close to the old parts of Coimbra.

Fordeler: Breakfast was alright but it would be nice if the menu changed a bit-no change for five breakfasts. The location is excellent for parking, walking into the old town and boarding the buses.
