Half way thru our stay we had already decided that we wanted to come back. The grounds are beautiful and the staff are the most friendly I've ever experienced. You could easily spend a week or more there and never get off the grounds. There's plenty to do. But if you do want to venture out, there are many things to do within just minutes of the resort. The rooms were huge and we'll kept. We just loved it. The are some tiles missing in the pool and I happened to cut my foot on one. Nothing too bad but it did hinder which shoes I was able to wear. Also we had an issue with our private shuttle to the resort that we booked via the link on the resorts Web site. There was no one waiting for us when we arrived and our paper work didn't have the shuttle services name on it so we didn't know what to look for. Fortunately someone finally was able to point us to the correct shuttle stand after us trying to make our way through all the other people who approached us.
I would like to give thanks and dues to Mexican hard working people in resort who work hard to make us comfortable. Yes, I'm paying them but not everything has to be about money. Rooms are clean, services are acceptable and food is good. No opinion about alcohol since I don't care about. Resort is large and it's a good place to go for a long walk. Now about "Luxury" what makes this resort "Luxury" is proximity to the ocean and beach. There are same units in the resort but they are no different then the "Luxury" units the only difference is distance to the God made luxury ocean an beach. Would I go again? Yes, only if the smoking situation is improved. The biggest issue I have with resort is the smoking policies and lack of enforcement. There should be segregation between two groups. I'm not going to lecture here anyone about harmfulness of 2nd hand smoke. I came to enjoy fresh air and not the smell of tobacco. Another place is where smoke is an issue is transportation cars where people just sit and puff smoke in your face. In my opinion lack of rules and enforcement on smokers tells me that the only thing that resort cares is money. This is my biggest turn off with the resort and if I had to book again I would look to resorts that have enforcement non smoking rules.
front office staff is terrible. when checking in they wanted to give us a room at the nick price resort, telling us the resort has no rooms. when we insisted they " found" rooms for us. wanted to place us very far from the beach units and told us we had to pay add 79 dollars per night for the beach units even though the place was empty. we waited an hour to check in, another 30 minutes for towels and 3 bottle of water ( 3 bottles for 4 people - go figure). tried to talk to the manager on sunday - not there, monday - not available. pool is ice cold. could be a nice resort but our experience will result in never going back to the Mareazul.
Attention to detail and personalized service is what this place is all about. This comes at a price of course but I felt that the expense was worth it. Excellent beach facilities, beautiful gardens and secret hideaways. Snorkeling trip is included in price of room. Although a service charge (15%) is added to all services, in the end I felt okay about that because the service was excellent and it meant that I didn't have to worry about carrying pesos around to tip everyone who helped us (although I'm sure other guests may add gratuities on top of that). I would caution those who get an ocean view room to ask for specifics about the room location. Even tho the hotel is quiet, there are ocean view rooms that overlook the restaurant, bar and pathway to the beach and don't offer as much privacy as other rooms.
Good snorkeling right off the beach-we saw lots of fish and a spotted eagle ray! Life guards will bring you a bandaid by the pool if needed (part of the caring staff). Lots of activities, after dinner shows are thoroughly entertaining. We thought the food was great, especially Cafe del Mar's dinner. You are given a schedule of live music during dinner-we didn't notice it until the last day but still had dinner music every night-even in the buffet. Kids club staff is wonderful, and the buffet crew will let you practice your Spanish on them (como se dice waffles?). Short drive or taxi ride to Tulum ruins and Akumal beach (where the sea grass bed is located- we saw 10 turtles in an hour). Oasis has a guided boat tour to Akumal that looked nice (and avoids the beach crowd), though we ended up driving. Last note is about bottled water: you get 4 sodas and 2 bottles of water daily in the minibar, but if that doesn't seem like enough water, you can exchange your canned drinks for more water. Especially nice if you leave campus on a hot day!
The restaurants and the pool areas No shuttle service to get to and from town and the airport
The staff was absolutely amazing. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The rooms was very clean, comfortable and spacious. There was also ample supply of pool chairs towels and drinks. I never felt like I had to fight other guests for any of these things.
Snorkeling. Staff. Activities. Restaurants. Penthouse suite! Overall, it was a good stay for the price but we probably won't return in the near future. Seaweed was definitely an issue for about 4 of our 8 days. Staff work all day to clean but it's still bad from morning to 1ish. Hotel is a little older but well maintained.
We had difficulty sleeping at night due to the noise coming from a nearby nightclub. The night club blasted their music until 5am in the moring. It was horrendous. It's too bad. This hotel is ideal. Simple, clean and two blocks from the ocean, but I will never stay there again. I tried earplugs to remedy the noise, but the noise just was nonstop. To bad...The hotel has nice tile and vibrant colors. The staff was generally attentive, except for the female deskclerk who seemed uncaring and awnry. It worked for me and my travel partner, but we sought out other options for our next visit. Please, if you can do something to remedy the rude noise that late at night, let me know. Otherwise, hasta la vista! The ridiculous noise from the Gaudalahara club across the street. People need to know that they play their loud music until 5am in the morning. It was a real downer to lose sleep because of the inconsiderate establishment being selfish. If you do not sleep like a log....don't even bother staying at the Maria Bonita.
The hotel is very nice, very colourful. The decoration is really beautiful. Staff is very nice and available. The room was cleaned everyday and it was well done. Curtains are not black-out. The air conditionner is very noisy.
Close to everything, clean rooms, honest staff
Friendly english speaking staff. Cleanliness. Good air conditioning. Pool. Close to the beach. Good value for money. Shower (hot and cold water was at times unstable).
The hotel was very cousy
We have stayed at Bahia(Coba) twice before. This is the first time at Sian Ka'an. Great time. Adults only at the hotel and beach area are the only way to go. The buffet at Sian Ka’an is the best of all the buffets. The service is top notch. We are planning our next trip. We will go back. Yoga for my wife at the Wellness Center and golf for me at the Riviera Maya Golf Club. Sitting by the waters. What else can I say. Love it.
Cleanliness, staff. Mosquitos.
I stayed at the GBP Sian Kaan in November of 2012 for 8 days. It's a good ~1hr drive from Cancun International Airport. The resort grounds were beautiful, and check-in went very smoothly, even though we arrived a little before their standard check-in time. Our bags were delivered to our rooms quickly and without incident. The rooms are more like suites, compared to many of the places I've been. The pictures of the resort show them with a room divider to make a separate living room/bedroom, but the divider in our room was disabled (nailed). I stayed in a garden-view room, and the terrace was nice, as was the jacuzzi. The room was large, clean, with a comfortable bed, well laid out bathroom (no tub), nice sitting area and decent mini bar. It was cleaned regularly, and a closet safe was supplied for valuable. The resort grounds were well maintained and the pools were easy to access and very clean. Sian Kaan is not on the beach, but more about that later. Two pools had a pool bar located...
Visited GBP Sian Ka`an from 17-24 Jul. As advertised hotel is great from the check in to the check out. Rooms are comfortable, grounds are very clean. Very quiet but if you want a day of more activities you can share with the other GBP(Akumal,Coba,Tulum) just 5 min trolley. Private beach for Sian Ka`an guest. More than 10 a la carte restaurant to choose from and 4 great buffet restaurants. 24 hours snack bar. Close to Tulum Ruins, Xel-ha, Explorer parks.Premium drinks. Reverse Osmosis water thru hotel for that reason you dont have to be sacered of getting sickj. Overall great vacation at GBP Sian Ka`an 5 star/gold crown hotel.
Wonderful staff, very good food, nice and beautiful beach, clean rooms, beautiful facilities.
Service staff was kind and polite Food was poor quality, cold and restricted
Food was very good and the service. Adults only No beach had to take shuttle service to the beach.
Landscaping and service. Staff all worked hard to make it a nice place and a nice stay. Too busy, guests and staff. Trolleys were very noisy and had too much exhaust. Highway noise. Loud service carts on paths by rooms, walkie talkie noise, too many trucks and carts on walkways.
Stayed here for 8 days recently. First, the staff is friendly and the service good. The rooms are good, not the best I've ever had but definitely acceptable and the amenities plenty. Sian Ka'an has the best buffet of the 4 hotels on the property. As a guest of the Sian Ka'an or as a Privelege Club member you get access to all the other properties amenities as well but vice versa. This property is not on the beach but only about a 10 minute tram ride away and is adults only, kids would get bored at this property. However their Akumal, Tulum, and Coba properties are great for families and kids. We got the Jr. Suite Supreme on the ground floor with a hot tub we never used but the room is larger than the regular. The rooms are good, not the best I've ever had but more than sufficient. They keep the fridge refilled every day with 2 beers, 3 small liquors, 2 cokes, 1 sprite, 1 fanta, 2 large bottles of water. They also include complimentary tea and coffee in the room, Twinings and local cof...
Once you got to the room it was nice and beds were comfortable. Spa and gym very good Towel cards used and so people who lost their towels would steal yours, stressful to worry about stolen towels, sprawling, long walk to beach and pool from just about every room so I wouldn't consider it beachfront, every room is a garden view room, no elevators, restaurant reservation systems hard to figure out and again stressful. They don't realize that stress free is what vacations are all about. Food very average. I would expect these problems at a 3 or 4 star hotel but they claim to be 5 out of 6
There was a lot of seaweed in the water in the area when we went, and the resort did a great job of cleaning it up. The pool and beach were great. Front desk was terrible. We waited 2 hrs at check-in to get a room with 2 beds as per our reservation. Upon leaving, our safe stopped working and it took them over an hour to send someone who did not fix it and then another hour for 2 men to show up and fix it. The water in the mini fridge tasted like tap water and gave us stomachaches. And the restaurants were all terrible.
This is the 2nd time my wife and I have stayed there. Everything is always top notch, the people remember you and they go above and beyond when it comes to service. Also, it never feels crowded. We will be going back yet again
Although it wasn't the fault of the resort it was disappointing that the beach was covered in seaweed they could not keep up with cleaning it and it prevented us from enjoying the beach
I absolutely Looooooved this Hotel, it was the MOST beautiful Hotel i ever stayed in and the staff and food was impeccable......... Love Love Love Love Loved it... 100 stars..
Location entertainment staff spa attentiveness value , rooms felt secure Third world country ,phone didn't work at first ,water problems during rain at room door entrance ,room safe had to be fixed ,constantly asking for every meal and service for room number , prices for water sports were not fixed but negotiable
Outstanding hotel, the staff were great. Had a small trouble at check in because I booked last minute but other than that everything was excellent.
We met Jose at the Iguana bar. He manages his bar amazingly. He made certain that everyone enjoyed their visit. A professional bartender that excels at what he does. We hope to find Jose again during our next visit.
Being all inclusive and having water park for the kids and various activities for adults. With my reservation there was a confusion with total number of guests. We were total 3 rooms and on one kids were missing on the reservation on hotel's system and I had to be on the phone with my travel agent (getaroom) but I ended up paying $55 extra for my kids. I was going to loose my flight so I didn't have orher choice that paying and getting out from there. Hotel should have handled it better....
Its on the beach, staff was extremly nice-amazing. The beds were hard as rocks. The food needed help!
Yoshi the bar tender at the sports bar is an amazing bar tender. Hotel is close to everything in the area. They push too much with buying a time share "wait they don't call it time share". Just say ur not interested and they'll leave you alone.
Is beachfront but the beach is the marina so it's stinks like sewage and the water is brown not blue and full of boats.
The white sand beach was lovely, the hotel was striking in it's design. (The Tulum coast is gorgeous). The resort had all the items a person could ask for in an all-inclusive setting. The food in the buffet restaurant was mostly well done, you could always find something good in spite of a few "misses" that could hardly be avoided in such a large scale operation. The beach side snack restaurant was an amazing buffet for those who didn't wish to get out of their bathing suits. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful and well kept. The staff were fine and tried to make your trip comfortable. It was our first time in a large all-inclusive and I didn't like the idea that there wasn't a personality to the place. It seemed rather institutional. Also the day we arrived we were told that we couldn't eat in any of the speciality restaurants for our entire stay. We had paid for at least getting into some different dining locations and we had to eat in the buffet every dinner. We did go back to the dinner scheduler to look for cancelations but to no avail. It seemed like there were many "rules" to keep the guests in line. There had been a seaweed die-off and the beach was covered undried seaweed and debris in front of the resort. You had to walk over plastic cups, plastic bags, etc to get into the ocean. Yikes.
On the beach No hot water and there was a constant smell of sewage. Ants all over the place.
This hotel is on the most beautiful beach/bay with killer coral reefs. We saw turtles, mantas, barracudas and every fish imaginable! The food was good and the fish tacos were great. Not being an all inclusive was ok since we had a kitchen. I awoke each morning to the sight and sound of the surf. It is not a five star, fancy granite counter place, but clean with friendly staff. It is a simple place with the calm atmosphere that those who want to avoid the "party" will love the Bikini Beach bar next door on beach a plus. We will most definitely return. Bathroom upgrade, more kayaks, in room phone to order from kitchen, and use a different cleaning agent that doesn't have such an lingering overpowering scent in the rooms.
This a great place to totally relax. One of the highlights of our stay is that we met so many great people. Everyone was very friendly and easy going. The staff is definitely a cut above. They would do anything to ensure guests' satisfaction....and always with a smile. A week is not enough!
Essentially everything Small difficulties with toilet functionning room 2901
It is a perfect place to practice nudism in a relaxed way. The staff is extraordinarily friendly, well trained; food and drinks are first class as well. We would have liked to have some more "beach area". Sand is too rough and step on too many rocks.
nice room-comfortable bed, excellent staff, good food, age group, and very close to our destinations of Akumal and Tulum better selection of alcohol, daily entertainment, hot tubs
No.. Why did they not have a reservation by you? I may have paid twice.. You and hidden beach.. 581 a night! They had no record of our reversation with you. It took them to 6pm to get a room ready.. (Getting dark outside). They call late (after we asleep) to tell us that we did not pay for the room yet. Was this your fault??
