Zaragoza lies halfway between Madrid and Barcelona in a picturesque Spanish setting. Zaragoza is at the center of a plain and a great valley which offers a rich variety of landscapes, ranging from desert to thick forest, meadows to mountains. Its fascinating history dates all the way back from Roman times, when the Romans called Zaragoza Caesar Augusta. Zaragoza has two cathedrals and is the ancient kingdom of Aragon. Zaragoza is situated on the river Ebro and its tributaries, the Huerva and Gállego, near the center of the Aragon region.
